This might not be what you're expecting. If you want an in depth, nuanced perspective on what Australia Day means, and what it could look like for ALL Australians, then tune in to this week's Ep for a full rundown of how an Australian Aboriginal Man feels about this important Australian celebration
G'day Folks, On tonight's episode i'm joined by Ethan Nash of TOTTnews.com to go over some major things happening here in Australia. Starting off with a bit of good news, the MAD Bill (Misinformation and Disinformation) like we talked about in the previous episode was defeated! Yes, after a major influx of submissions and petitions to the Australian Senate they have seen that their jobs were on the line and decided to cede to the whim of the public and not vote the MAD Bill into law. That was a major victory for the likes of is in the independent media circles. We then discuss the next piece of draconian legislation that's heading to the senate or should I say rushed through the senate for a vote with minimal time for discussion or amendments. The government clearly wants this legislation passed. It is the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Bill 2024. They are trying to ban children under the age of 16 from using social media including YouTube. But kids using PornHub, another video platform albeit explicit, is acceptable and not covered in this legislation. So we can clearly see that this is NOT about protecting children. The government knows that in order to verify that you're not a child under 16 and can use the social media platforms you need a digital ID of some sort. ALL Australians will be susceptible to this scrutiny and bio-metric tracking and data basing. This legislation is a Trojan Horse to allow this to happen. So we can see that Digital ID and your bio-metric data is wanted federally. All that information in one place. This is yet another piece of the puzzle the government wants and is now getting. There are major concerns about privacy, data security and the potential for the misuse of our personal information. The government says 'Trust Us' to keep your data safe and secure. But we've seen time and time again the level of incompetence of government bureaucrats and departments as well as infrastructure. We're moving closer and closer to CBDC's and a social credit system that all of these laws are setting us up for. Rough days ahead folks if we can't defeat these Bills. +++++++++++++++++ Remember the Bonus Content shows are available now to all Patreon supporters for just AU$8 a month! Welcome to this week's special guest, Jack Steele!By popular demand, Jack Steele joins us on Dyl & Friends as the recently elected Captain of the St Kilda Football Club (Congrats Jack!). Jack's become a household name in the AFL world but like all superstar players, he's had a unique journey. Jack's journey in football started at a young age in his hometown of Canberra where he joined the GWS Giants academy at the age of 13. Five years later, that same club would select him in the 2014 National Draft with pick 24. Steele struggled to stamp his authority at the Giants and departed the club after two seasons despite an eagerness to stay. Jack's had plenty of adversity in his career and battled some early self-doubt at the Giants but five years later, he's well and truly triumphed. It's not often the Tagger becomes the tagged but two club best-and-fairests and two All-Australians later, Jack is now one of the most valuable and revered players in the competition. I truly appreciate Jack coming in for the chat and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.Jack SteeleInstagram - www.instagram.com/jack_steelePatreon - Dyl & Best FriendsPS. 04 January 2022 | Media release | Joint media release The Hon Scott Morrison MP Prime Minister The Hon Ken Wyatt AM MP Minister for Indigenous Australians The Morrison Government will build Ngurra, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural precinct, on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in the Parliamentary Triangle, on Ngunnawal country (Canberra). Ngurra, meaning ‘home', ‘country' or ‘place of belonging', will include a learning and knowledge centre, a national resting place to care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ancestral remains and a new home for the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS). Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the new $316.5 million precinct would take its place among Australia's premier institutions in the parliamentary triangle as a place of national pride and significance. “Ngurra is the realisation of a long-held desire to have a home for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories at the heart of our nation,” the Prime Minister said. “It will be a national landmark of the highest order, standing proudly for us all to celebrate, educate, reflect and commemorate. “It will be built in Commonwealth Place, on the primary axis in the Parliamentary Triangle – between Old Parliament House and the Australian War Memorial - demonstrating the importance and reverence this institution should hold. “It will be built fully in accordance with the proposal developed by AIATSIS and presented to Government for approval, as a result of their consultation processes.” “All Australians and visitors to our nation will be able to gain a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' diversity and cultures, and the richness this offers our country. “This new world-class facility will contribute to our continuing journey of reconciliation, where Indigenous Australians can tell their stories, in the way they want, for all visitors to have a greater understanding of our shared history.” Minister for Indigenous Australians Ken Wyatt said the learning and engagement, exhibitions, research and curation that would occur at Ngurra would be significant acts of truth-telling. “At its heart will be a national resting place where the remains of Indigenous Australians taken from their country will be cared for until they are able to be returned to their communities,” Minister Wyatt said. “And in instances where provenance has been forgotten or erased, they will be cared for in perpetuity with dignity and respect. “As new home to AIATSIS, the precinct will also house and make accessible the world's largest collection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and heritage items. “Ngurra will provide a new perspective on our shared history, as a significant moment for truth-telling, and a new place where the diversity of Indigenous Australia and one of the world's oldest living cultures will be celebrated.” An architectural design competition will be run in 2022 to develop an iconic design fitting for the location and that reflects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' aspirations, achievements and deep connection to Country. Queenslanders have had their strictest warning to stay home and get tested... as authorities worry people aren't taking the latest outbreak seriously, even as numbers are expected to skyrocket in coming days. It's been revealed that most of the cases in Queensland's latest cluster of the Covid-19 virus are children. All Australians who are fully vaccinated by December 1 would receive $300 ….under a Labor plan to fast-track the rollout and kickstart the economy. Teachers will be permitted to work from home for the first time since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, in recognition of the serious impact the highly contagious Delta strain is having on schools. This week, Claire talks to Robert Pradolin, founder of Housing for All Australians. Robert has lived and breathed property development for the past 30 years. An engineer by trade, Robert is a loud and independent influencer on housing affordability and accessibility. His earliest memories take him back to being three or four and constructing cubby houses under his parents' home. Throughout his career, he has been fortunate to work with people who create communities, from land subdivisions to medium density housing through to high-rise mixed-use apartment complexes. Robert has held General Management roles with Frasers Property Australia (formerly Australand) and has worked directly with government ministers, policy makers, community housing providers and their support services. His message is clear: housing is not a social issue — it's an economic issue. In 2018, he founded Housing All Australians, an Advisory and Action Group of influential leaders from the private sector who have a shared belief that it's in Australia's long-term economic interest to house all Australians, including those on low incomes. Robert was tired of waiting for successive governments to make a difference. In his view, it's the private sector that can collectively and collaboratively change the future of housing in our nation. Robert believes the long-term cost to Australia of not providing stable “housing for all” will result in future generations inheriting a significant burden with disastrous economic and social consequences. We are sitting on an intergenerational time bomb he declares. Research by the University of NSW indicates that Australia needs 65,000 dwellings a year by 2036 to get the housing balance right. Robert and the team are working tenaciously to increase awareness that “housing for all” is essential economic infrastructure and underpins Australia's prospects for stable, long-term economic growth. Hear why Robert thinks capitalism needs repurposing and who is actually most vulnerable to homelessness in Australia. Another frustrating loss for the St Kilda Football Club means the Saints are still waiting to confirm their place in AFL Finals for the first time since 2011. St Kilda FC's fate still sits firmly in their own hands, as a win this week - Round 18 against the Giants - will cement that long-awaited Finals berth. We look back at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against the Eagles and look at our chances against the out of form GWS Giants. We're joined this week by 300+ game player (120 with St Kilda FC) Russell Greene to chat about his days at Moorabbin, the confusing way in which he ended up at Hawthorn - where he won 3 premierships, 3 All Australians, a Best & Fairest and a VFL league MVP award - and this week, the unfortunate passing of his former teammate, beloved Saint, Jeff Dunne. We talk about mental health a bit here on the podcast because it's a subject close to our hearts and it's also a massive issue for ALL Australians. One company is taking mental health, and that of it's employees, so seriously that they've got their own in-house mental health advocate and he's our guest on today's real tradie guy episode! James Hill not only fills the role of Mental Health Advocate for Energy Queensland but he's also a tradie AND recently won the individual award for services to mental health in Queensland during Mental Health Week. James shares his own story (and struggle) with mental health, his experience with suicide, how he's changed during it all and some real-world tips for anyone dealing with stress, worry or other more serious issues. **[As always, be sure to contact Lifeline on 131114, Beyond Blue at www.beyondblue.org.au or any of the other fantastic organisations if you feel like you or someone you know could use some support.]
I haven't done a podcast in quite a while, figured that what I had to say could have been done effectively in written formats with the people who it concerned. However. Today I seriously believe that ALL Australians should voice opinions based on research and information that is available to all of us, on a topic that concerns ALL of us. The topic is about "our representatives" making decisions that shall impose upon one and all a life with terms and conditions that the vast majority of us just can't fathom. Luckily the majority of Aussies have never experienced the evils of societies in which the government systematically imposes total control of everything, to the point where no individual has any privacy or freedoms that us Aussies have in Australia. Why we are willing to just accept the actions of those people we voted in, by which they are taking these freedoms and liberties from us, well, it worries me. Are we really becoming that ignorant that we just accept this, without questioning anything, without insisting upon the necessary information and our rights to expressing our thoughts and for "our voted in representatives" to honour and respect our justifiable wishes? How on earth have we gotten to this low level? idk. But we have and it is time that we all start thinking about it and start taking the necessary steps to ensuring we do not fall into a society in which we have no privacy as human beings. Won't bother you with any more text, thanks for takinng the time to hear me out and sincerely hope that you will take the time to go out look into the topics that I have touched upon. You need to be informed, so as to be able to ensure you make the right decisions on the topics at hand. Wish everyone all the best and nothing but goodness and love. Cheers. Yours sincerely Jack Miller

In a special series following the 2019 AFL Women's Under 18 Championships, Final Siren Podcast host Matthew Cocks, and Draft Central's Peter Williams take a look at the Queensland and some of the standout performers across all three lines of the field. They also look at future prospects, as well as have interviews with the state's four All-Australians in Ellie Hampson, Lily Postlethwaite, Serene Watson and Kitara Whap-Farrar.
All Australians are spending more of their incomes on housing, but worsening affordability is hurting low-income earners the most. Almost half of low-income Australians in the private rental market suffer rental stress. It’s probably no coincidence that homelessness is rising. There is a powerful case for additional government support to help Australia’s most disadvantaged cope with high housing costs. Housing First policies have halved homelessness in countries like Finland. But not all policies are equally effective. So what should the Queensland State government and the Federal Government do to tackle these challenges? How should they target programs: should they focus just on social housing for those right at the bottom, or should they fund affordable housing for “key workers” in the inner city? How should additional support be delivered: as government funded development; as subsidies for developers; by imposing planning conditions for new developments; or as rent assistance directly into the bank accounts of renters on low incomes? And what is the role of planning and the private housing market? In this State of Affairs event at the State Library of Queensland, Executive Director of National Shelter, Adrian Pisarski, and Grattan Institute CEO John Daley discuss what’s the best way to help low-income earners deal with rising housing costs and to reduce the number of Queenslanders who are homeless.
Never Surrender to your first bonus episode - 100% conjecture, 0% facts! The podcast that The Squinters were never gonna make, got made with a show so far gone past post-facts and post truth it doesn't catch up to the zeitgeist, it is the zeitgest! Coco calls in from the Dallas Taranto Family Homestead to join Bartman, Cheeeeeeeeeese and Needles in swinging away with the big bats at a big bye week. The Squinters rule on the De Boer disaster, Coniglio's uninspiring godfather offers, give a to-the-bye-season review, prove why the Giants will have 8 All-Australians this year and consider whether LaMelo Ball is a chance to pull on the orange, white and charcoal in 2020. They also tip a win against Essendon. No quarters this week - its play on at all costs all the time. Speculate with us or at us at neversurrenderpod@gmail.com. [NB: The banter contains a few swears, but no slurs].
Adam Tomlinson is the latest GIANT to feature on The Footy Phil Podcast.Speaking to GIANTS co-captain Phil Davis and GIANTS Media's Alison Zell, the wingman explains how he developed his love for running and his abnormally large lungs. The 25-year-old also speaks about his interest in golf and cricket (and his man-crush on Trent Copeland), while detailing how dog Bonnie is recovering from another ACL reconstruction. After plenty of banter, Davis asks the serious questions of Tomlinson and how he feels when his name is the subject of trade rumours year-on-year.The pair recount their days living together in the inner-west suburb of Lilyfield before the two have an in-depth recap of the GIANTS' win over St Kilda at UNSW Canberra Oval.Tomlinson, Davis and Zell talk about their love for Thursday night footy and look across at how the competition is positioned after seven rounds – plus when it's appropriate to make the big calls on All Australians, Brownlow voting and premiership favourites. And it wouldn't be a current podcast without a little Game of Thrones chat at the end.Podcast Summary2:00 – Tomlinson's listening habits3:10 – University days6:15 – Tomlinson's love of running8:00 – Interest in golf and cricket12:00 – Tomlinson's dog Bonnie15:30 – Trade talk18:00 – Living with Phil19:20 – Round 7 win over St Kilda22:10 – Tomlinson talks A-Squared24:00 – Thursday night footy27:00 – Around the grounds in Round 736:10 – Game of Thrones discussion

Listen to actor Alec Doomadgee, journalists Joe Hildebrand and Randa Abdel Fattah as they jump right into this ever heated debate about whether All Australians are racist.
