A story of resilience, determination, and true grit at a time when the odds have never been stacked so high. Libby, who was 87 at the time of recording, is notoriously private and was very reluctant to share her story, so it is a real privilege to be able to share it with you. Margot ended up falling in love with the boy next door on Dalgety Downs Station, where they would spend two decades managing, then owning the property, and raising their children, before moving to Wooramel Station on the coast for another two decades. From fixing windmills to mustering sheep, cattle and goats, dealing with death (both human and animal), to droughts and floods - with a healthy dose of laughter and good times in amongst it all, there’s not much she hasn’t seen or done. Instead of making mudcakes and mustering sheep, he changed schools 12 times in 3 years, as the threat of invasion dictated his father’s postings in the army. After the war, the Percy family found their way to Wandina Station in the southern Rangelands - initially as managers, then as owners. It didnt take long for Jos to adapt to station life again, as he worked on properties around the country before coming home as manager. It was during this time he met his future bride, Jenny, and together they embarked upon the management of Williambury Station in the Gascoyne for the next 30 years, before achieving their goal of purchasing the property. Proactive's Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts' of the latest news from Kingfisher Mining Ltd (ASXKFM). The company has announced the discovery of high-grade copper rock chips at its Ring Well prospect near the Mick Well Project in Western Australia's Gascoyne region. Surface sampling at the site revealed significant copper concentrations, with values reaching 20.2% and 21.6% copper from a mineralised outcrop extending at least 44 metres. This is the first exploration undertaken at Ring Well, as there is no record of previous drilling or surface geophysical data. Kingfisher Mining views this discovery as a promising opportunity and intends to extend the strike length while conducting deeper investigations to assess the full potential of the copper mineralisation. The company noted that this finding complemented other base metal opportunities identified in the region. The mineralisation at Ring Well is 12.3 kilometres from the rare earth element mineralisation at Mick Well and 5.4 kilometres from Kingfisher's other base metal deposits. Ongoing work, including co-funded diamond drilling, aims to establish the broader context of the copper mineralisation throughout the Mick Well tenure. Leeuwin Metals Ltd (ASX:LM1) joins Proactive's Jonathan Jackson to discuss the progress in its operations during the last quarter and what's to come, particularly highlighting the Cross Lake Lithium Project in Manitoba, Canada. Piggott emphasises the advancement of this project, where 4.7 kilometres of lithium-rich pegmatites have been identified and sampled, showcasing the site's potential for a large-scale lithium operation. The company is poised to start its maiden drilling program at Cross Lake, with plans to drill a 2,500-metre phase-1 program targeting multiple high-grade spodumene-bearing pegmatites. This will be the first significant exploration in the area in over 40 years, focusing on known high-grade intercepts and aiming to explore both shallow mineralisation and down dip extents with hole depths ranging from 50 to 200 metres. In addition to Cross Lake, Leeuwin Metals is reviewing work at the William Lake Nickel Project in Manitoba, exploring for nickel and platinum group elements (PGE). This review aims to guide further exploration and identify additional PGE opportunities. In Western Australia, Leeuwin started field activities in early 2024, with soil sampling revealing a promising 9.5-kilometre rare earth elements (REE) anomaly in the Gascoyne region. The company has conducted further mapping and sampling, with assay results pending, and continues to explore additional tenure opportunities in this region. Leeuwin Metals maintains a robust cash position and a focused exploration team, both crucial as they advance these critical metals projects in Canada and Australia. The upcoming summer season's activities, including detailed mapping and geochemical sampling, are anticipated to further underscore the exploration potential across its diverse portfolio.

Over the weekend, a convoy of 8 trucks loaded with fodder travelled from Esperance on the south coast to stations based in the Mid West and Gascoyne.

Kingfisher Mining Ltd (ASX:KFM) CEO James Farrell tells Proactive the company has received encouraging results from a soil geochemistry survey at its Chalby Chalby lithium project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. Broad lithium anomalies have been spotted from first pass, widely spaced soil geochemistry at the project. Warnarral Ngoorrngoorrool is the result of a six-year intercultural collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists, performers and musicians who have transformed an old car wreck into a significant cultural object shaped by sound and stories of cars, transport and Country from Gija and Miriwoong communities. Over 3 weeks (August 24 – September 16), Warnarral Ngoorrngoorrool will make its way from Kununurra to Perth through the Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Mid-West and finally onto Boola Bardip, the Western Australian Museum's Perth site.

In this episode Barry chats to Harjinder Kehal, Managing Director at Dalaroo Metals (ASX:DAL)  Dalaroo Metals are a base metals explorer focussed on creating shareholder wealth through new Ni-Cu-PGE and Pb-Zn-Cu discoveries. The company's Namban Ni-Cu-PGE and Lyons River Pb-Zn-Cu-Ag projects occupy a large land position totalling 1,140 km² with the scale to host significant sized orebodies. In the June quarter, the company delineated a strong rare earths soil anomaly with coincident phosphorus and significant low level niobium at its Lyon River project in Western Australia's Gascoyne region. Dalaroo has also received an exploration inventive scheme grant of $180,000 to co-fund maiden diamond drilling at the Browns lead-zinc-silver target.

SolGold's (SOLG.lse) agreement with the government of Ecuador to develop their huge Cascabel project then gets a breakdown, with some added history of Matty.  Coming closer to home, we run through MinRes' (MIN.asx) release from late last week, stating that they've once again rejigged their deal with Albemarle (ALB.nyse), with regard to Kemerton, China downstream & Wodgina.  Next on the list is Bald Hill, owned by Alita Resources, who fell into administration almost 4 years ago. This one's a fascinating story, with FIRB rejection of Austroid's ownership attempt just the latest twist.  We then tuck into Gascoyne Resources (GCY.asx) resource upgrade, more than doubling the size of the Never Never deposit and notching up the grade to over 5g/t.  To round off, we delve into the quarterly report that Core Lithium (CXO.asx) provided the market. This is the 2nd most shorted stock on the ASX, so naturally it was of interest. Carnavon's Shire President, Eddie Smith is calling for government intervention as he claims the town has reached a crisis point. The Gascoyne town's civic leaders have warned of looming vigilantism as angry locals have had enough of being bashed and having their homes broken into by rampaging children as young as 8. "We have some significant problems in Carnavon, the issues that we are having appear to be brushed off by the state and federal government so we have chosen to make some noise about it," Mr Smith told Michael Genovese and Mick Colliss, filling in for Millsy and Karl.  "The state and federal governments need to change the legislation to bring back accountability, consequences and respect in our communities, and this problem is Australia wide."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Mamba Exploration (ASX: M24) managing director Mike Dunbar joins Small Caps to discuss the company's latest exploration efforts across Western Australia. 6PR Breakfast has revealed that TRG officers and the RAC rescue chopper have rescued a man 160km out of Sandstone. The rescue happened 450km north of Kalgoorlie, where the 80-year-old man disappeared on Friday evening. Police spent the weekend combing remote terrain near Sandstone.  The search operation continued into the night, and the crew had to sleep through rough conditions, as Superintendent Steve Post said, 'in the middle of nowhere.' An innovative grain handling and export company based in South Australia is investigating the possibility of setting up shop here in Western Australia, and is currently exploring several suitable sites along the WA coastline. T-Ports was established in 2018 and developed its own small port at Lucky Bay, on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula. It's a shallow water port where grain is loaded onto a smaller feeder vessel and then taken out to an ocean-going vessel, waiting in deeper water. It's a process called transhipment. Andrew Forrest's aquaculture company has plans for a major expansion of its Gascoyne oyster farm. Tropical rock lobsters could soon be reared in some sort of land based aquaculture set-up.

Pastoralists in the Gascoyne are still busy fighting fires that have now burnt through more than 195-thousand hectares. A bushfire watch and act is still in place for some of this remote pastoral land, in the shires of Carnarvon, Shark Bay and the Upper Gascoyne. Chris and Tim Higham run Meedo Station. Chris said the fire had burnt through approximately 60 to 70, 000 hectares of her property and she's particularly concerned about several thousand head of sheep that would have been in the direct line of the fire. The commercial fishing industry said it's under attack from a range of different directions and has decided to launch an advertising campaign to show the community how important the industry is to WA. An historic moment at the Albany Port over the weekend, with a shipment of 30, 000 tonnes of sustainably certified malting barley heading to Vietnam on a ship powered by a blend of biofuel, or recycled vegetable oil.
