In this episode, Wellington and Savon discuss the Cowboys dominating the Eagles, the dramatic ending to the Bills-Chiefs, and the Kadarius Toney flag plus if Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid's complaints about officiating were justified. Next up, they discuss the Giants' win over the Packers and Jaydon Daniels winning the Heisman. For their basketball topics, they start with the Lakers winning the In-Season Tournament, Orlando Magic's current success, and Bronny's debut with USC. Next up, they review Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2, highlight how she's still the queen of rap, AZ's Truth Be Told new album, Majid Jordan's Good People/After Hours new project, Tems' new single "Not An Angel" and Jack Harlow & Dave's new track "Stop Giving Me Advice".In the second half, they're joined by special guest Ally Henny, Vice President of The Witness BCC, host of Combing the Roots Podcast, and also author of the book I Won't Shut Up: Finding Your Voice When the World Tries to Silence You for their review of The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, the 2020 film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and co-written with Mario Puzo. Starring Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia, and Sofia Coppola, they discuss the versions and changes that were made in this film and if it improved the original Godfather Pt. III. They also discuss Al Pacino carrying the film, Sofia Coppola's controversial role, and a heated debate about their rankings of all of The Godfather films ever.
The Franchisees wrap up another series with the final film in the Godfather trilogy, The Godfather Part III. Is it the worst in the series? Yes. But is it a "bad" film overall? No! Part III has a bit of a stink on it and Alex and Ben talk about why that might be. Ben had never seen this movie before, his many attempts thwarted throughout the years for all sorts of reasons (laziness). Alex revisited the film this week and was also able to check out Coppola's recent re-edit The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. Of course the most exciting part of this film for the boys was another appearance by Franco Citti, patron saint of The Franchisees. What a treat! This is a flawed and compromised film to be sure, but we found many things to like about it, in particular the perfect, tragic fate of Michael Corleone.Also we didn't realize this until just now but TODAY is Sofia Coppola's birthday, happy birthday Sofia we love you and you're really not that bad in this movie!

Exactly 50 years ago today on March 24, 1972, The Godfather was released in theaters in the United States. To coincide with this 50th anniversary, the Lodgecast has a very special episode we are releasing. In late 2020, Francis Ford Coppola released his recut of The Godfather Part III which he called The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. We watched this recut and talked about it at length along with discussing The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974). The episode was so epic that the Lodgemaster feared editing it, but alas he has assembled this very special episode covering The Godfather trilogy. We are joined by two real life brothers for a deep dive into Coppola's epic crime films. Happy 50th birthday to The Godfather and long live Francis Ford Coppola!
We all know the third film in The Godfather franchise isn't in the same league as the first two, but does that make it a bad movie? Plagued with a rushed production Francis Ford Coppola somehow managed to make a very decent movie with script he wrote in 6 weeks. Coppola re-edited The Godfather: Part III in 2020 making the new version "The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone." Let's break down both versions.
Hosted by Andrew Quinn and Darren Mooney, and this week with special guests Jenn Gannon and Jason Coyle, The 250 is a weekly trip through some of the best (and worst) movies ever made, as voted for by Internet Movie Database Users. New episodes are released Saturdays at 6pm GMT. So this week, both Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather: Part III and Mario Puzo's The Godfather, Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone. It is 1979. Michael Corleone has solidified control of the Corleone crime family, and hopes to take the family business completely legitimate by striking a deal with the Vatican Bank. Trying desperately to reunited his fractured and divided family, Michael quickly discovers that organised crime isn't the only place where criminals are lurking, ready to strike. At time of recording, neither movie was ranked on the list of the best movies of all time on the Internet Movie Database.

Paramount Pictures is a goliath, a company that is instantly recognisable to movie watchers around the world, and its archives are chock full of some of humanity's best-loved moments. American Zoetrope is an equally mammoth operation, founded by Frances Ford Coppola and George Lucas. Our guests today are Andrea Kalas, vice president of archives at Paramount, and James Mockoski, archivist at Zoetrope. They discuss the process that goes into reinterpreting and remastering epics from the past, primarily focussing on Coppola's ‘final cut' version of Apocalypse Now and the newly reversioned ‘The Godfather III', now ‘The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone'. They explain how archivists help to reimagine a story whilst paying respects to the original works, and how new technology is able to make us fall back in love with a film all over again. In this episode, discover the value of revisiting stories from the past, explore the notion that a story has never finished being told, and find out why it's important to plan for the future by never throwing any of your work away. var podscribeEmbedVars = { epGuid: 'behindthespine.podbean.com/18270cee-3fe2-3dab-bf65-973fe4ef72a6', rssUrl: 'https://feed.podbean.com/behindthespine/feed.xml', backgroundColor: 'white', font: undefined, fontColor: undefined, speakerFontColor: undefined, height: '600px', showEditButton: false, showSpeakers: true, showTimestamps: true };
