Sometimes it can be difficult to stay on track when it comes to achieving your goals. Discipline is the name of the game; doing a repeated behavior day in and day out until you achieve your desired outcome. This process can be monotonous which can lead to you falling off your desired path. One of the ways that I stay on track is by gamifying my goals. What this does is help me stay mentally engaged so I don't get bored with my desired pursuit. In today's episode, I will share with you what it means to gamify your goals and I will share with you the 7 steps that I take to accomplish great things. -- SHOW NOTES/LINKS: Join The Forge! Family Confidential: Secrets of Successful Parenting with Annie Fox, M.Ed.
Before choosing an app for children eight years old and younger, adults should ask themselves, "What is my goal with this app?" Whether it's a goal to keep your child safe and entertained on a car trip, encourage creativity, or help strengthen a cognitive skill, app reviewer Carisa Kluver reminds us first to figure out the goal so as "not to get distracted by the bells and whistles." And always remember, she says, "When it comes to learning, technology is a tool, but it's not the only tool." Annie talks to Carisa about kids, apps, and how parents can set standards for what they download for their children. About Carisa Kluver Carisa Kluver, the creator of The Digital Media Diet, is the editor of Digital-Storytime.com, a review site for iPad picture book apps. Hi there this is Teena Hughes of BizMarketinginaBox.com -- and my PODCAST called BUILD A BRAND, NOT JUST A WEBSITE. Today is EPISODE 11, and it's all about 10 GREAT APPS WHEN YOU'RE ON THE ROAD As some of you might be aware, I've recently moved from one city in Australia to another, and it was about 2,000kms of driving (that's about 1,240 miles). I've driven much further in the past, but never with a "smart phone" - my trusty iPhone 4S, so this trip was even more interesting because I could get some benefit out of Apps I'd installed on my phone. I thought some of you might be interested to know which Apps I used the most, so today I've come up with a list of 10 for you. Let me know if you'd like to recommend of your own favourites, post on iTunes, my website, Facebook or Twitter - I'd love to hear about other great Apps. That's it for today, so ciao ciao for now, from Teena Hughes http://BizMarketinginaBox.com
If you listened to the last episode you know that my conversation with Noam went into overtime with the score tied. We had so much to talk about that I split the episode into two parts. This is the second part. We finished part 1 talking about some of the common myths of henna and henna history, and the conversation picked up in that same stream. We also talked a lot about Noam's work as a henna artist, especially how he uses henna as part of his role of Ritual Facilitator. I knew nothing about this aspect of Noam's life so it was fascinating to just sit back and listen. Since starting this podcast I have heard from many people that they don't listen to podcasts or don't know how. I am such an avid consumer of podcasts that I didn't realize that not everyone was as obsessed by them as I. Podcasts fill an entertainment niche for me. They are great for times when I want entertainment but I can't watch a screen, maybe because I am biking, or lying on the beach, or drawing henna designs or am crammed into a subway car on my way to work. Podcast fills those moments where I can't read or watch a movie, or when I want something more than music. It sounds like I hardly spend any time not consuming some form of entertainment but trust me, there are many hours of the day when I am alone with my thoughts. For those of you who want to delve into podcasts I have links on the sidebar here to some of my favorite podcasts. If you are not sure how to find podcasts and subscribe to them, I have listed some website to help get you started on the wonderful world of podcasts. As a follow-up to our June show highlighting Jen’s favorite photo apps, both of us share five apps that we can’t live without. While we’re iPhone users, almost all of these apps are available for Android smartphones, and most have web interfaces as well. Of course, there are thousands of apps out there, and many gems we've probably never heard of. If there's a killer app you use every day, tell us about it!
