This week on The Lo Life, Lo is joined by actress, singer, producer, and fellow true crime aficionada Hayley Orrantia for a gripping episode that dives headfirst into one of the most jaw-dropping murder cases to hit both sides of the Atlantic. Dubbed the Crime Doctors, Lo and Hayley dissect the twisted tale behind Jason Corbett's brutal 2015 murder—a case re-ignited by Netflix's hit documentary A Deadly American Marriage. His wife, Molly Martens, and her ex-FBI father claim self-defense, but a global audience (and Jason's devastated family) suspect something far more sinister. Was Molly a grieving stepmom… or a manipulative murderer? Is her tearful on-screen performance Oscar-worthy or pure sociopathy? Lo and Hayley break it all down—no legal jargon, no trauma dumping—just the facts, some morally murky questions, and the signature wit you love from The Lo Life. Whether you're a seasoned sleuth or true crime–curious with a low gore tolerance, this episode is for you. Stay Connected to The Lo Life! Lo is joined by actress, singer, and his fashion muse Hayley Orrantia—for a no-gatekeeping, honest guide to everything you actually need to know for spring and summer 2025. This episode is serving a BS free, full glam strategy session. With recession-era budgeting on the rise, Lo's breaking down how to shop smarter, not harder, and which trends are actually worth the money. From the colors that are about to be everywhere to the most flattering cuts and trends for every body, they're covering everything you need—head to toe, inside and out. They open up about their own personal style, fashion flops, and biggest beauty icks (spoiler: razor burn is OUT), while Hayley spills the tea on her go-to online stores and how she's making the 2025 trends work for real life. Plus, brunettes are having a moment—Lo has thoughts. In this week's episode, Lo is joined by none other than the talented Hayley Orrantia—actress, singer, and fellow true crime junkie—as they dive deep into the haunting world of The Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke. If you've been following the shocking case of Ruby Franke, the disgraced mommy vlogger who pleaded guilty to child abuse, this three-part Hulu documentary offers chilling new insights that go far beyond the headlines. Together, Lo and Hayley unpack the disturbing details of Franke's life, which included her cruel and manipulative behavior on camera and behind closed doors. Through interviews with Franke's two oldest children and unreleased footage, we see the dark side of a family that once appeared to be picture-perfect online. But Devil isn't just another tabloid story—it's a careful, poignant exploration of control, faith, and the blurred lines between performance and reality in the world of YouTube fame. Lo and Hayley reflect on their own childhoods and examine the complex issues at play, including the role of organized religion and cult-like behavior in shaping the Franke family's tragic downfall. They ask the tough questions: How much of this was really about faith? And where do we draw the line between fame and exploitation? With its jaw-dropping moments and raw, unreleased footage, The Devil in the Family is far more than just a crime documentary. It's a deep dive into the psychological toll of living a life for the camera and the dangerous consequences of fame in the digital age. But, is this documentary Lo Life approved? Tune in to find out! Get ready for a thought-provoking conversation that goes beyond the crime itself and into the heart of what happens when we allow the boundaries of real life and online performance to collide. Lo is joined by the talented actress, producer, and singer Hayley Orrantia for an in-depth dive into a case that has captivated the nation for years: the tragic disappearance of Gabby Petito. Known for her shared love of true crime stories, Haley and Lo are a match made in podcasting heaven, as they unravel the details of a case that has left many with unanswered questions about the case. What started as a dream road trip for 22-year-old Gabby and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, quickly turned into a nightmare. Inspired by social media influencers living their best van life dreams, the couple embarked on a cross-country journey in 2021, chronicling their adventure through Gabby's blog and YouTube channel. The romance seemed picturesque, but behind the seemingly perfect posts, tensions boiled over. Domestic disputes between Gabby and Brian surfaced before Gabby mysteriously vanished in September 2021—her body discovered just days later. Now, a new Netflix documentary series digs deep into Gabby's life, death, and the nationwide search that followed. Lo and Haley analyze every twist and turn of the case, breaking down the documentary with sharp insights and varying perspectives. Did law enforcement drop the ball? Were Gabby's parents kept in the dark? Could Brian's family have known more than they let on? While Lo and Haley don't always agree on the finer details, their discussion ultimately brings up one gut-wrenching question: What would you do in this harrowing situation? You won't want to miss this thought-provoking episode that combines compelling analysis with candid conversation. Today my guest is actress, singer, and songwriter, Hayley Orrantia. You may know her as Erica Goldberg from the hit ABC sitcom "The Goldbergs." Big sisters unite! In this episode, Hayley and I chat about how she got into "the business." I was surprised to learn that acting was originally a means to land a record deal for Hayley à la Hannah Montana style. She shares stories about being on the X-Factor and how she stayed grounded despite being launched into fame through "The Goldbergs." She details how she got into flipping houses and what it's like to produce her own music independently. Hayley is talented, joyful, and true to herself. It was such a pleasure connecting as "older sisters" and now as friends. You can follow Hayley @hayleyorrantia on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter. Welcome back to The Viall Files, Going Deeper edition! Today we are joined by Actress and Musician Hayley Orrantia. You'll recognize her from The Goldbergs! On this episode we dive deep with our guest talking about what it's like to be on one show for almost a decade, how the LA karaoke scene is like nothing else, and how relationships that ended poorly aren't a waste of time. We then talk about how Hayley and her fiancé bonded over dating sociopaths, how forcing yourself to deal with heartbreak is better than ignoring it, and continuing to learn about the person you're dating even after the honeymoon phase ends. We also cover the Emily Ratajkowski cheating scandal and dive in to present the narrative of why people cheat and why the person cheated on should never feel at fault. We also talk about the Rejection Challenge, why exposing yourself to “no” can make you a more dynamic person, and the controversy with Drake airdropping a picture he took of a woman to her. We then welcome on two Texting Office Hours callers! Our first caller wonders what to do after being ghosted after an amazing first date. She asks how to cut through the noise and learn that this “perfect guy” may actually be a f*ckboy hiding in plain sight. Our next caller wants help in drafting a text to respond to a guy she feels treated her poorly by constantly not making her a priority. Now she has to learn that she shouldn't be focusing on making a guy from her past feel bad when she's already happy in a relationship. “He's not even pretending to be a f*ckboy!” Please make sure to subscribe so you don't miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@kastmedia.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Wendi and Dfernando's thirty-fourth episode is speaker, musician, author, husband/father and award-winning filmmaker Tim Frost. Along with every mention above, Tim Frost is also an author of hope from firsthand experiences of survival. He emits a positive and light-hearted energy when he speaks to a large crowd or in a one-on-one conversation. You would never know as a young boy growing up in tiny towns of East Texas, he was abused, neglected, became dependant on drugs and believed he had no purpose on this earth. As a kid Tim found an outlet in creating stories and music. Through these, his imagination and humor kept him optimistic and hopeful even when life became almost unbearable. His life stories are full of a boy’s heartache, sprinkled with laughter and sealed with hope. He’s been a drug-dealer, worship leader, hip-hop producer, local business entrepreneur, and short film composer.A few years ago, after visiting his counselor, Tim began writing down his story beginning with his first memory at the age of three in a dirty trailer house where many unspeakables happened. These are the memories that had been buried deep and purposely, because no one wants to remember, especially tell, anyone about being abused. But slowly, as he began to write, there came the light. He was giving voice to the silenced pain, hidden secrets, and dark memories and he started to change. He shared a few pages of his journal with his wife DeAnda and she, just like many others would soon begin to say: you need to write a book! In his memoir THE FAMILY PORTRAIT, Tim not only candidly tells of how he fumbles into fatherhood, but he authentically reveals how forgiveness and vulnerability lead to a life full of hope. So what began and was even completed solely for Tim’s personal healing, for readers THE FAMILY PORTRAIT will surprisingly make you laugh, inspire hope, and encourage dreams. Today, Tim resides in a little Texas town with his dream-inspiringwife of 20 years DeAnda and their special needs son Odin, who is just as quirky and full of adventure as his dad. Wendi and Dfernando's eleventh episode and their guest interview is with singer-musician/actress Hayley Orrantia. While she may be best known as “Erica Goldberg” on ABC’s hit comedy THE GOLDBERGS, Hayley is no stranger to the country music world. Her songs have been featured on many Spotify and iTunes playlists, and on Radio Disney Country. In 2018, she conducted the Strong, Sweet and Southern Tour, her first headlining tour hitting 22 cities across the US. She released her first EP “The Way Out” in the Spring of 2019 chronicling her grief over a traumatic breakup. On the day of its release, it reached #20 on the US iTunes Country Chart and #3 on the UK iTunes Country Chart. As an only child growing up in Texas, Hayley spent many hours in her room singing along to the music of the great voices of our time. Standing on the stage her father built for her in her bedroom, she sang along to the music of artists from many genres including country, pop and R&B. Although each artist had their own unique style, all made you feel something through their music. Singing since the age of 9, she added songwriting to her list of skills at age 13, and began piano and acting at age 14. Through years of study, practice and performance, Hayley has honed her expressive and soulful style that makes her instantly recognizable to the listener. After spending nearly five years performing at local festivals and events, Hayley came to national prominence on the 1st season of Simon Cowell’s THE X FACTOR USA. Auditioning initially as a solo artist, she and three other females were assembled by Cowell into a country-pop girl group where they competed in the group category, finishing in 9th place. Her time on the show not only established her musical talent but also her screen appeal, and cemented her desire for a career expressing herself on stage.Hayley lives in Los Angeles while filming THE GOLDBERGS, but calls Nashville home since moving there in 2013. She spends her time off from THE GOLDBERGS writing and recording, and is honored to be working with many of Nashville’s most prolific songwriters and producers. Her film credits include the independent film COOPER AND THE CASTLE HILLS GANG and the feature film GOD'S NOT DEAD 2 where her original song "Silence You" was featured.Listen to Hayley's musicCheck out Hayley's merchandiseAnd on this episode Wendi and Dfernando talk DESIGNING WOMEN and on the weekly RIPE & ROTTEN REPORT there's Season 8 of THE GOLDBERGS, summer films, RAISING ARIZONA and some other stuff.Follow us on our Instagram: Wendi McLendon-CoveyDfernando ZarembaGENERATION RIPE... and our guest Hayley OrrantiaRemember to subscribe to GENERATION RIPEVisit Dfernando Zaremba's website: dfernandozaremba.com
