Interview by Simon and Thierry Leonis with Philippine, Flavie, Leen, , Simon and Fady One. Although the event was initially denied authorization, the request was resubmitted as a demonstration, which was then approved by the police. On the agenda: DJ sets by the Women Do It Better collective, broadcast by Radio Vibration, a friendly bar, and a defiant, activist atmosphere. The organizers are calling for citizens to reclaim public space. “We'll make as much noise as necessary to denounce the increasing privatization of public space, which is now being taken over by commercial interests or by the City itself under the guise of vague calls for projects,” the non-profit stated. https://bruxelles.substack.com/p/the-peaceful-gathering-began-at-5

In Leaders Getting Coffee episode 43, our guest is the CEO of the Breast Cancer Foundation of New Zealand, Ah-Leen Rayner. It would seem that a career in the creative arts would suit the skills and interests of Ah-Leen Rayner. And indeed she headed off, after what she admits was an unspectacular school life, to pursue an Arts degree. But it was anthropology, the study of humanity, that captured her attention. You get the sense that it still does. That study led to an early career in sales, selling to supermarkets. But that was before she was captured by global conglomerate 3M, a company she worked with for 17 years. Her tenure there included a period during which she was responsible for one of the Company’s biggest products. The Post It Note. Next came a six-year stint in the blokey environment of Kiwirail, where she was responsible for creating tourism opportunities out of what was predominantly a freight network. She calls it ‘creating an asset that connected our scenery with an international audience.’ That’s how creativity is applied to business. But as Covid came and went, she wanted to do something that aligned with her strong purpose orientation, something that did good for the community. About that time, the Breast Cancer Foundation was looking for a new CEO. The rest is history. In our latest Leaders Getting Coffee podcast, Ah-Leen Rayner speaks to Bruce Cotterill about that leadership journey and her four years at the helm of one of our largest, and most important, charities. The messages are well known. The importance of breast screening, mammograms and early detection. But there is more to the Breast Cancer story and we learn of the never-ending battle for funding, the unwillingness of consecutive governments to invest in the best drugs available, and the good news, the new initiatives and technologies being introduced. With our host calling the Breast Cancer Foundation as “by women, for women” we also get plenty of insight for how we can get men taking their own health as effectively as the women do. And here’s a hint, we blokes need those women to help us.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The conversation also explores Burke's legacy in light of contemporary wrestling and the forthcoming film adaptation of her story.Tune in for a deep dive into grit, glamour, and the forgotten queen who fought for her place in the ring. We're back each and every month for another deep dive into the world of shorts and spandex.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Ohjaaja Luca Guadagninon (mm. Call Me by Your Name, 2017) Queer -elokuva pohjaa William S. Burroughsin tekstiin. Toimittajana on Pauliina Grym.

Presentation College Athenry will hope their long wait is over this Monday (St. Patrick's Day - 17th March 2025) when they take on Thurles CBS in the Masita All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior A Hurling Final. Galway are also seeking to end a 30-year famine since St. Raphael's, Loughrea were victors in 1995. It's a repeat of the 2023 semi-final when Athenry edged their opponents 0-15 to 0-14. Aaron Niland, Seán Murphy, Aodhán McDonagh, Darragh Counihan and Michael Fallon are still involved from that victory. This is Presentation's fifth final appearance following defeats in 1976, 2018, 2019 and 2023. The latter three came at the expense of St. Kieran's, Kilkenny but Presentation Athenry got a measure of revenge in this year's semi-final, winning 4-13 to 2-11 thanks to goals from Oscar Fitzpatrick, Ciarán Leen, Eoin Hannon and Ethan O'Brien. Thurles CBS, chasing a first title since 2009, overcame Coláiste Bhaile Chláir 0-21 to 0-17 in their semi-final. Leading up to the game, Presentation Athenry manager Paul Hoban has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. == Throw-in at Croke Park on St. Patrick's Day is 3pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM.

This episode we're joined by cookie maker extraordinaire Amy Wong of Batch 22 Bakery. Lunar New Year might be a little behind us for the year but Amy's dish, leen goh, is so classic and so beloved we'll talk about it any time of year. We talk about Amy's diligent testing to turn her grandmother's loosey-goosey recipe into a near-exact replica, her mother's version that could feed an army, and honoring the recipe while still using an Instant Pot for a lil modern day ease. We also talk about pivoting from the perceived stability of a cushy tech marketing job to being a baker, the near-comical naming conventions—or lack thereof—of Chinese pastry, and if Amy's dad may or may not be Garfield. Be warned that we have a lengthy cookie discussion so maybe have a snack first or keep some cookies close by!

Federal civil rights enforcement in the employment area is handled by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC,) the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP,) and the Department of Justice (DOJ.) This webinar will explore efforts to coordinate enforcement by the three agencies and look at ways to avoid duplication of efforts to streamline and strengthen civil rights and equal employment opportunity enforcement in the United States. It will also look at recent efforts by the federal government to increase the presence of DEIA (diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility) programs in the federal sector and the public response to these developments.Featuring:Jon Greenbaum, Founder, Justice Legal Strategies PLLCProf. George R. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for November 24, 2024 is: lenient LEEN-yunt adjective Someone or something described as lenient is not harsh, severe, or strict. In other words, they allow a lot of freedom and leeway, and do not punish or correct in a strong way. // The teacher was lenient in her grading after the holiday break. // Some concerned citizens felt the punishment was too lenient. See the entry > Examples: “In the adult section of the library, the patrons arrived generally by themselves. … If they did something as human as nodding off, they would be kicked out immediately. … The children's section was a little more lenient when it came to rules. A child would be splayed on the floor staring at the ceiling with their mittens and boots lying around them as though they were pieces of them that had broken off. There were children playing Battleship. There would be a child sitting in a chair shaped like a giant hand, reading up on the increasingly absurdly horrific circumstances of orphans while eating a box of Goldfish crackers.” — Heather O'Neill, “Lite-Brite Times Square,” Good Mom on Paper: Writers on Creativity and Motherhood, 2022 Did you know? If you've ever had a peaceful, easy feeling—perhaps brought on by someone who you know won't let you down—then you'll have no problem understanding the earliest meaning of lenient. When it entered English in the mid-1600s, lenient described something soothing—such as a medication—that relieved pain or stress, or otherwise enabled someone to take it easy. For a brief window of time it was even used as a noun, referring to any of various ointments and balms that help heal wounds in the long run. Lenient comes from the Latin verb lenire, meaning “to soften or soothe,” which in turn comes from the adjective lenis, meaning “soft or mild.” The “soothing or easing” sense of lenient is still in use today, but English speakers are more likely to apply it to someone who is lax with the rules (as in “a lenient professor”), who doesn't mind when someone acts like a certain kind of fool or takes it to the limit one more time.
Craig Leen, former Director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs and now a Partner at K&L Gates, joins The New Talent Code podcast to talk about AI and regulations in HR. Leen says that if we want to ensure long-term stability, responsible and ethical use of AI, we will eventually need federal guidance. While HR leaders wait for federal laws, several cities and states, including Colorado, California, and New York City, have already taken proactive steps to enact laws governing AI. Listen to our episode with Leen to hear more about: - Why federal regulations could be critical to the successful deployment of AI in HR. - The questions you should be asking AI vendors. - And how governance could change responsibility roles with employers and AI vendors.

Kabir is co-founder and CEO of Leen, which is creating a unified security API to enable simpler integrations of security tooling. As Kabir will immediately tell you, he has no background in cybersecurity. However, he does have extensive experience with growing partnerships and sales numbers in industries where he has no background. He worked in business development for the last 15 years across a variety of tech companies including NativeX, Kiip, and Typeform. As he tells in the episode, he very carefully and patiently assembled the founding team, and the problem Leen is addressing then emerged as the imperative from their extensive whiteboarding sessions. Now, after a hot start, the team is in the middle of key strategy decisions that will determine the future of the company. Website: Leen Sponsor: VulnCheck
