Welcome back to our Emergency Service Show 2025 collaboration series. In this episode, we shine a light on Women in the Fire Service and not as a separate chapter, but as a vital force shaping the fire service of today and tomorrow.I'm joined by two brilliant guests. Siobhan, better known as Shiv, or The Fire Mum—a London Fire Brigade firefighter who's been blazing a trail with honesty, advocacy, and a whole lot of passion for leaving breadcrumbs for the next generation. Alongside her is Ellie, a Norfolk firefighter and national representative for Women in the Fire Service UK, whose story shows just how powerful this movement is in creating support, confidence, and belonging in a role that can still feel isolating at times. We talk about why WFS feels different to everyday fire service life, how confidence and imposter syndrome play out in our sector, the realities of menopause, maternity, and balance on the watch, and why inclusion isn't about lowering standards—it's about raising the whole game. This one's real, raw, and packed with insight. Cleveland Browns In The Grey AreaLions Prove They Can Win in Multiple Ways The Detroit Lions left Ford Field on Sunday with a 34–17 win over the Cleveland Browns, and the performance underscored an important truth about this team: they can win in a variety of ways. Dan Campbell has been preaching versatility since training camp, and his roster showed it in Game 4 of the NFL season. The Cleveland Browns brought the league's top-ranked defense into Detroit. Jim Schwartz had Myles Garrett and a front four capable of wrecking games. On paper, this looked like a brutal test for Jared Goff and the Lions offense. Instead, Detroit leaned on defense and special teams to flip the game. Forcing turnovers and cashing them in for 17 points, plus a key Khalif Raymond return, highlighted just how complete this Lions roster has become. The defense held Cleveland's struggling offense in check, outside of the now-familiar opening drive lapse. For the fourth straight game, the Lions allowed a touchdown on the opponent's first possession. Yet once again, they settled in, clamped down, and dictated terms the rest of the way. Aidan Hutchinson's disruptive presence and a revitalized front seven are putting opponents on notice. Offensive Efficiency and Individual Performances The Lions offense didn't need fireworks to get the job done, but they still found ways to make history against Cleveland's vaunted defense. Jameer Gibbs ran for more yards on his own than any single team had managed against the Browns all season. The Lions finished with 109 rushing yards, nearly double what Cleveland typically allows, and did not give up a single sack. That speaks volumes about both the offensive line and Goff's pocket awareness. Amon-Ra St. Brown continued his consistent dominance, adding to a remarkable season that already places him in historic company. Through four games, he has joined names like Randy Moss in producing receptions, yards, and touchdowns at a pace rarely seen in the NFL. Hutchinson's sack production is similarly eye-catching, as he barrels into Defensive Player of the Year conversations. The statistics tell a story of a balanced and dangerous team. Detroit became just the third NFL team since the 1970 merger to go three straight games without allowing a sack while also producing 15 touchdowns and 10 sacks in the same stretch. That kind of balance—production on both sides of the line of scrimmage—separates contenders from pretenders. The Month One Vibe Check Four games into the 2025 NFL season, the Lions stand at 3–1, in first place in the NFC North, and with momentum on their side. The offense is efficient, the defense opportunistic, and the culture Campbell has built is evident on every snap. This victory over the Cleveland Browns was not just another win. It was proof that the Lions can adapt, win ugly, win flashy, or simply outlast an opponent. As we turn toward Game 5, Detroit looks like a contender ready to make noise all season long. https://youtu.be/i2rb1b4hRHg Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! Cleveland Browns Post Game Show: Detroit Lions Reaction to Game 4 Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns at Ford Field Week 4 of the NFL season brought the Detroit Lions back to Ford Field for a highly anticipated clash with the Cleveland Browns. This game had no shortage of storylines. The Lions were looking to steady their season against one of the league's most physical defensive fronts, while the Browns aimed to prove they could win on the road in a hostile environment. The post game discussion will naturally focus on the battle in the trenches. Cleveland's defensive line, led by Myles Garrett, is one of the best in the NFL. How well Detroit's offensive line managed protection for Jared Goff and created lanes for Jahmyr Gibbs will be central to the conversation. Ford Field has seen its share of offensive fireworks, but this matchup promised more of a grind, and we will examine whether the Lions met that challenge or not. The other side of the ball presented equally intriguing questions. Could Aidan Hutchinson and the Lions' front seven put pressure on Deshaun Watson and contain Nick Chubb? Did the Detroit secondary stand up to Cleveland's passing attack, or were there breakdowns that shifted momentum? These are the themes that will drive our Game 4 analysis. What We'll Cover on the Post Game Show On our post game show, we will dive into all the critical moments from the Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns showdown. Topics on deck include: Quarterback play: Jared Goff's command of the offense, his decision-making under duress, and whether he connected with playmakers like Amon Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams when it mattered most. Defensive execution: How the Lions handled Cleveland's two-pronged rushing attack, and whether Detroit generated enough pressure to disrupt Watson's timing. Coaching adjustments: Dan Campbell's approach against Kevin Stefanski's scheme, especially in red zone situations and third downs. Discipline and turnovers: Mistakes often decide games against quality opponents. Did penalties or giveaways tilt the balance? Most importantly, our Detroit Lions reaction segment will bring fans into the conversation. We will be taking live calls to hear firsthand how you saw Game 4. Whether it was frustration with stalled drives, excitement over a breakout performance, or questions about coaching decisions, your perspective will be front and center. Why This Game Matters This NFL Game 4 matchup may not determine the season's fate, but it carries weight in shaping momentum. For Detroit, it was a chance to show resilience against a Cleveland team built to expose weaknesses. For the Browns, it was about proving they can win away from home in a playoff-type atmosphere. The Cleveland Browns Post Game Show will unpack every storyline, highlight the standout players, and frame what this result means for the Lions moving forward. Whether Detroit emerged with a statement victory or left with more questions, this game will spark plenty of reaction from fans and analysts alike. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khp3kMhZqqI Get yourself a Classic Detroit t-shirt here! Detroit Lions Podcast: From Baltimore Breakthrough to Browns Blueprint The Detroit Lions walked out of Monday night with more than a win—they left Baltimore with a recalibrated national narrative. In this episode, we unpack why that performance travels, how Jared Goff's command keeps the offense on schedule, and what Kelvin Sheppard's defense can duplicate on a short week as the Cleveland Browns visit Ford Field. The focus is clear: stack traits that win in the nfl, not just one-offs that win a night. What Baltimore Confirmed About DetroitBrowns Preview: Winning on Detroit's Terms Two weeks, two different paths to points. After detonating the Bears through the air, Detroit bludgeoned the baltimore ravens with balance and situational precision. Goff's pre- and post-snap processing—checks, protections, and ball placement—kept Detroit out of negative plays and set up the fourth-down strike to Amon-Ra St. Brown that tilted the game. That's the hallmark of an elite attack: win a shootout one Sunday, then win a fistfight the next. On defense, Sheppard's group again started slow before clamping down, marrying simulated pressures with rush-lane discipline to squeeze escape angles and manufacture seven sacks on Lamar—proof of concept for a spy-and-squeeze menu that should age well. Credit John Morton and the offensive staff for multiplicity without vanity. The touches flowed—David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, St. Brown—forcing Baltimore's second level to tackle in space and defend every blade of grass. That multiplicity, paired with a cleaner penalty sheet and consistent red-zone sequencing, is the identity that wins in December and January. What Baltimore Confirmed About DetroitBrowns Preview: Winning on Detroit's Terms This Cleveland Browns defense is real. Jim Schwartz's front plays on your side of the line, with Myles Garrett wrecking edges and man corners Denzel Ward and Greg Newsome squeezing windows. Interior disruptor Malik Collins has been a problem on tape, and Cleveland's rookie class is contributing early snaps. The adjustment for Detroit: vary protection IDs, change the launch point, and force Cleveland to tackle Gibbs and LaPorta in space on early downs so Goff isn't living in obvious pass sets. This is another week for tempo pockets, bunch/stack releases, and quick game that becomes explosives when angles are bad. Matchup math favors Sheppard's defense. Cleveland throws at one of the highest rates while ranking near the bottom in yards per pass and explosive plays; Joe Flacco's pressure splits amplify that drag. Detroit must strangle first down, earn second-and-long, then hunt with five-man fronts that keep contain on draw and screen. Protect the post, plaster on scramble, and make the Browns stack 10-play drives in a loud building. Do that, and Dan Campbell's team turns Sunday into another four-quarter clinic in complementary football—with Jared Goff, Kelvin Sheppard, and John Morton headlining an algorithm-proof formula the nfl is learning to respect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWtj2bNgeDE Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! Detroit Lions Podcast: Statement in Baltimore, Calculus for Cleveland The Detroit Lions didn't just beat the Baltimore Ravens—they reframed the early-season narrative on national TV. Our latest episode unpacks how Dan Campbell's group closed a hostile road game, why Jared Goff's quiet precision keeps elevating the offense, and how Kelvin Sheppard's plan rattled Lamar Jackson. Then we pivot to a top-tier defense and a wounded tackle room as the Cleveland Browns come to Ford Field on Sunday. What Monday Night Told Us About Detroit This was complementary football at scale. Offensively, Detroit toggled from Week 2's aerial binge to a trench-first blueprint, piling on rushing efficiency while Goff went 20-of-28 without a turnover and feathered a fourth-down dime to Amon-Ra St. Brown—the night's fulcrum throw. On the edges, Penei Sewell authored a historic performance, drawing the best single-game run-blocking grade in PFF history, a data point that matches the eye test and film-room consensus. Defensively, Kelvin Sheppard started hot-knife/cold-steel—an early score allowed, then relentless adjustment. Detroit sacked Lamar seven times, tying the most he has ever taken, as simulated pressure and delayed second-level triggers compressed escape lanes and forced Baltimore to play left-handed. That's not a fluke; it's teach tape for Sheppard's spy-and-squeeze menu and a culture that fixes problems in-game. Credit John Morton and the offensive staff for the multiplicity, too. The show walks through how Detroit's formation variety and tempo kept Baltimore from sitting on tendencies, with touches distributed across David Montgomery, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, and St. Brown instead of chasing vanity stat lines. This version of the Lions can beat you down two different hallways—through the air one week, through your ribcage the next. Scouting the Cleveland Browns: Iron on Iron Cleveland arrives with an elite, No. 1-rated defense and Myles Garrett, a game-tilting monster who bends pockets all by himself. Detroit's answers? Force Browns corners to tackle in space (Gibbs/LaPorta option routes), vary protection IDs, and keep the ball moving on first down to avoid obvious pass sets. Meanwhile, a battered Browns tackle room complicates their plan: Dawand Jones is out for the season (IR), and Cleveland signed Thayer Munford Jr. while shuffling bookends—an edge opportunity for Aidan Hutchinson and Detroit's five-man fronts. Market signals also reflect the matchup: early Week 4 boards list Detroit as a sizeable home favorite (spreads clustering around Lions −9.5 with a modest total), consistent with the Lions' form and Cleveland's offensive drag. It's still nfl football—one turnover or special-teams swing can rewrite scripts—but Detroit holds multiple levers: early-down efficiency, red-zone resourcefulness, and a pass rush that's heating up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQhZrt4cDdQ Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! Detroit Lions vs Baltimore Ravens Post Game Show: Detroit Lions Podcast Reacts Detroit Faces Baltimore on the National Stage Monday Night Football gave us the Detroit Lions against the Baltimore Ravens in a matchup that will shape early perceptions of both teams. For the Lions, this was about responding to a shaky start to the season and proving they can compete under the lights. For the Ravens, it was about defending their home field with Lamar Jackson leading the way. On our post game show, we are focusing on the storylines that emerged no matter the final score. How did Jared Goff manage the pocket against Baltimore's defensive front? Did Amon Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams make the kinds of plays needed to stretch the Ravens' secondary? Were the Lions able to contain Derrick Henry and limit the explosive potential of Jackson, who always poses a unique dual-threat challenge? These are the questions that will define how we judge Detroit's performance in Game 3 of the NFL season. Key Factors That Shaped the Contest There are several areas we will break down on the show. First is the battle at the line of scrimmage. Detroit entered this game already dealing with injuries on the offensive front, and Baltimore's defensive line has a reputation for creating havoc. How well the Lions were able to protect their quarterback and establish the run will be central to the discussion. Second is defensive resilience. The Ravens can beat you in multiple ways. Lamar Jackson's ability to extend plays, combined with Henry's downhill running, puts pressure on linebackers and safeties. Did the Lions front seven step up, or did Baltimore dictate tempo? On the other side, how did Detroit's pass rush impact the rhythm of the Ravens' offense? Third is coaching and adjustments. Dan Campbell's staff faced a unique test against a Ravens team known for halftime changes and creative blitz looks. The way Detroit adjusted mid-game will say a lot about the growth of this roster and coaching staff. Finally, the turnover battle and discipline factor. Penalties and giveaways in a tight prime time game can tilt momentum instantly. We will examine how those moments shaped the narrative of Game 3. Listener Reactions on the Post Game Show The Detroit Lions post game show is not only about our analysis but also about your perspective. We will take live calls from listeners to capture the raw reaction of the fan base. Were you encouraged by what you saw? Do you feel the Lions are ready to contend with the NFL's elite, or do concerns remain after this test in Baltimore? Whether the Lions came away with a statement win or suffered another frustrating setback, this Game 3 matchup provided plenty of talking points. From explosive plays to coaching decisions, there is no shortage of material to analyze. Detroit Lions Make a Statement in Baltimore | Detroit Lions Podcast The Detroit Lions stunned the football world with a decisive Monday Night Football win over the baltimore ravens, marking their first-ever victory in Baltimore and flipping the early-season narrative on its head. In this week's episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, we break down how Dan Campbell's team imposed their will against one of the NFL's most feared opponents, what it means for Jared Goff's growing reputation, and where the Lions stand in the evolving playoff picture. Jared Goff's Efficiency and Offensive Balance One of the podcast's key themes was the versatility of this Lions offense. Against the Bears in Week 2, Goff carved up Chicago through the air. Against Baltimore, Detroit leaned on the ground game, piling up over 220 rushing yards and four touchdowns behind the duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Goff was quietly surgical again, completing 20 of 28 passes with no turnovers, highlighted by a clutch fourth-down strike to Amon-Ra St. Brown. Listeners will appreciate how the episode contextualizes Goff's performance within national narratives. Despite playing mistake-free, efficient football, Goff continues to be overlooked in league-wide conversations until he proves it on the postseason stage. The show makes the case that, like Lamar Jackson, Goff is playing at a level that demands recognition—if not now, then certainly by February. Defense Turns Up the Heat on Lamar Jackson Detroit's defense once again started slow, giving up a touchdown on Baltimore's opening drive, but Kelvin Sheppard's unit adjusted brilliantly. The Lions recorded seven sacks, tying the most Lamar Jackson has ever taken in a game. The pass rush, led by Aidan Hutchinson, consistently collapsed the pocket, while coverage improved as the night wore on. Not every storyline was glowing. Rookie corner Terrion Arnold struggled early, finding himself trending on social media for the wrong reasons. But as the podcast notes, the secondary settled down once the front seven took over, and the Lions' ability to adjust midgame highlights the growing maturity of this defense. Dan Campbell's Team, and What's Next Perhaps the biggest takeaway is cultural: this is Dan Campbell's team, and the national media can no longer dismiss him as a “meathead motivator.” From fourth-down aggression to locker room accountability, Campbell has built a program that responds to adversity—whether it's a Week 1 loss to Green Bay or a hostile road environment in Baltimore. With Cleveland and Cincinnati on deck before another primetime date with Tampa Bay, Detroit has the chance to build on momentum and position itself atop the NFC North and the wider NFL power rankings. As the podcast emphasizes, this isn't just a hot start—the Lions are built to contend, and the best football may still be ahead. From tactical breathing and after-action reviews to the moral weight of service and survivor's guilt, Grossman provides a framework for resilience that applies equally to the battlefield, the fireground, and everyday life. This conversation is about more than tactics, it's about how to lead with empathy, build cultures of support, and navigate the realities of service in today's world. You can find many of his books available on amazon HEREOr reach out to him HEREAccess all episodes, documents, GIVEAWAYS & debriefs HEREJoin me on the United for 9/11: Memorial Stair Climb – Atlanta 2026 HEREPodcast Apparel, Hoodies, Flags, Mugs HEREPODCAST GIFT - FREE subscription to essential Firefighting publications HERE A big thanks to our partners for supporting this episode.GORE-TEX Professional ClothingMSA The Safety CompanyIDEXFIRE & EVACUATION SERVICE LTD HAIX Footwear - Get offical podcast discount on HAIX HEREXendurance - to hunt performance & endurance 20% off HERE with code ffp20Lyfe Linez -  Get Functional Hydration FUEL for FIREFIGHTERS, Clean no sugar  for daily hydration. 80% of people live dehydratedSend us a textSupport the show***The views expressed in this episode are those of the individual speakers. In this episode, I sit down with Ann Millington to dig into what leadership really looks like in the fire and rescue services today. We talk about psychological safety, building no-blame cultures, and navigating the messy reality of budget cuts and complex organizational structures. Ann shares why inclusion and well-being aren't optional extras but the foundation of effective teams, and we get into how emotional resilience and strong communication can change the way leaders show up.What really stuck with me is Ann's view that great leaders are gardeners — cultivating growth, recognizing super strengths, and creating space for people to thrive. Together we explore mentorship, coaching, feedback, and recognition, while also looking ahead to the big challenges around innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in our service. This was a conversation full of honesty and practical wisdom, and I think it'll challenge you to rethink leadership in the fire service.Access all episodes, documents, GIVEAWAYS & debriefs HEREJoin me on the United for 9/11: Memorial Stair Climb – Atlanta 2026 HEREPodcast Apparel, Hoodies, Flags, Mugs HEREPODCAST GIFT - FREE subscription to essential Firefighting publications HERE A big thanks to our partners for supporting this episode.GORE-TEX Professional ClothingMSA The Safety CompanyIDEXFIRE & EVACUATION SERVICE LTD HAIX Footwear - Get offical podcast discount on HAIX HEREXendurance - to hunt performance & endurance 20% off HERE with code ffp20Lyfe Linez -  Get Functional Hydration FUEL for FIREFIGHTERS, Clean no sugar  for daily hydration. 80% of people live dehydratedSend us a textSupport the show***The views expressed in this episode are those of the individual speakers. Detroit Lions Got Game! The Detroit Lions handled business in their home opener at Ford Field against the Chicago Bears and their new head coach Ben Johnson - Detroit's former offensive architect turned rival. On today's show, we unpack the key swing moments from Bears week, then pivot to a massive NFL spotlight game: a Monday night trip to face the Baltimore Ravens in prime time. Expect a fast, detail-rich breakdown built for fans on YouTube, Spotify, and all of your favorite podcast aggregators. Beating Ben Johnson meant beating your old tendencies. Detroit leaned into a newly formed rivalry to stay a step ahead of Chicago's rules while protecting their own core identity - physical runs to set up in-breakers for Amon-Ra St. Brown, seam conflict for Sam LaPorta, and manufactured space touches for Jahmyr Gibbs. We highlight cleaner operation in the red zone, plus a quieter penalty sheet that kept Jared Goff in rhythm - crucial after Week 1's stalls. Just as important: Detroit's defense closed space on perimeter RPOs and tackled through contact, a must versus Johnson's motion-heavy sequencing now that he's officially in charge at Halas Hall. Bears Takeaways: Countering Ben Johnson, Reasserting Identity Monday Night Football Preview: Lions at Ravens - Edges, Matchups, Levers Baltimore's star power is real - Lamar Jackson piloting an attack with Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, and DeAndre Hopkins - but early tape shows pass-protection stress (five sacks in two weeks) that Detroit can leverage with line games and disciplined rush lanes. Contain first, squeeze second; win the edges without losing quarterback depth. Meanwhile, Lions DBs must win while the second level throttles Henry on runs. Oddsmakers have the Baltimore Ravens as home favorites on Monday Night Football - no surprise in that building. Kick is set for 8:15 p.m. ET from M&T Bank Stadium (ESPN/ABC), and Detroit's path is clear: own first down, steal a possession (fourth-down or takeaway), and turn green-zone trips into sevens. Books are leaning Ravens straight-up while noting Detroit's strong ATS profile the last two-plus seasons. Two news nuggets to monitor as we near kickoff: Baltimore's edge rotation has been nicked (Kyle Van Noy's status bears watching), and Chris and Jeff spent a chunk of the pod detailing rush-lane integrity to keep Lamar in phase. If that edge room is light, Goff's play-action and quick-game to St. Brown/LaPorta can stress Baltimore's single-high looks and force lighter boxes for Gibbs. If Detroit replicates the Bears template - clean pre-snap, efficient on early downs, violent tackling - and layers it with a spy/squeeze plan for Jackson, the NFC North leaders can flip the Monday-night script in Baltimore. I had the pleasure of sitting down with my friend Scotty Hewson to talk about his remarkable journey through aviation, firefighting, and service. Scotty shared how his love for helicopters started as a child at an air show with his grandfather, a passion that carried him into the Army Air Corps where he served as a Lynx crewman and door gunner. His story is one of resilience, setbacks, and determination, and it gave us a chance to reflect on how the skills and lessons of military life cross over into the fire service. Our conversation then turned to something deeply close to both our hearts: the Terry Farrell Memorial Stair Climb. Scotty spoke about his first climb in 2016 and how it sparked a mission that's grown into one of the biggest firefighter efforts ever undertaken in the UK. Together we explored the plans for September 2026, when 343 UK firefighters will travel to Atlanta to climb in honour of the 343 FDNY firefighters lost on 9/11. I seem to remember the Lions handing the offense to a no-name tight ends coach and putting an incredible amount of faith and trust in him while enabling his rapid career advancement through the coaching ranks, but what do I know, right? Will Caleb Williams give the ball to Kerby Joseph? How many times? Will Caleb Williams give the ball to Brian Branch? Will it be more or fewer times than he gives it to Kerby Joseph? Detroit Lions Still Looking to Launch | Detroit Lions Podcast The Detroit Lions opened their 2025 NFL season with a tough loss on the road to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. In our latest episode, Detroit Lions Still Looking To Launch, we break down what went wrong in Week 1 and what needs to change as the Lions prepare for a pivotal Week 2 matchup at home against the Chicago Bears—now led by Ben Johnson, Detroit's former offensive coordinator. Packers Postmortem: Slow Start, Missed Chances The Packers game offered an uncomfortable reminder that the margin for execution in the NFL is razor-thin. Jared Goff and the Lions offense moved the ball but stalled in critical spots. Protection breakdowns and untimely penalties blunted drives, leaving points on the field. Defensively, Detroit allowed Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers to exploit coverage mismatches and extend plays on third down. On the podcast, we ask tough questions: was this simply Week 1 rust, or do the Lions have deeper issues with discipline and situational football? The discussion highlighted the need for sharper red-zone execution, better balance between Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery in the run game, and more consistent pass rush to relieve pressure on the secondary. Bears Week: Ben Johnson Returns to Ford Field Looking ahead, all eyes are on Ben Johnson's return to Detroit. After architecting the Lions' explosive offense last year, Johnson now brings his creativity to the Chicago Bears as head coach. That familiarity cuts both ways—Detroit knows his tendencies, but Johnson also knows Goff's strengths and weaknesses. In the show, we explore how Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn can counter Johnson's schemes. Will the Lions lean on tempo and power formations to dictate terms? Can Detroit's defense stay disciplined against Justin Fields' replacement-led attack, featuring heavy RPO and play-action wrinkles Johnson loves to dial up? Fans are eager to see how Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta, and Jameson Williams can exploit Chicago's young secondary in a must-win divisional matchup. Listener Reactions and Season Outlook Our live chat zeroed in on one theme: urgency. A slow start cost Detroit in Green Bay, and with the NFL spotlight growing brighter, the Lions can't afford to stumble again at home. Week 2 against Chicago offers a chance to reset momentum, reclaim toughness in the trenches, and prove the Lions remain contenders in the NFC North. Detroit Lions Post Game Reaction: Week 1 Loss to the Green Bay Packers Fixable Problems or Deeper Concerns? The Detroit Lions opened their 2025 NFL season with a disappointing Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. As fans sift through the emotions of frustration and anger, the focus turns to whether this was simply bad execution in a tough road environment—or something more systemic. Head coach Dan Campbell insists the problems are fixable. Missed assignments can be corrected, mental errors addressed, and coaching issues cleaned up. Still, the offensive game plan came under immediate scrutiny. Offensive coordinator John Morton is now facing questions after a debut that featured receivers bunched in ineffective route trees, linemen blocking ghosts, and a running attack that stalled repeatedly against light defensive fronts. The Lions offense managed only one touchdown while Jared Goff spent much of the afternoon checking down under pressure. Some fans had flashbacks to Joey Harrington as the short throws piled up, but a closer look shows Goff played smart football given Green Bay's deep two-safety shell. He avoided forcing throws, limited turnovers, and worked within a system that needs better support up front. Leadership, Collaboration, and the Road Ahead Beyond X's and O's, the Lions face an internal test of leadership. Reports suggest Goff had influence on personnel decisions—most notably the move to start veteran Graham Glasgow at center over rookie Tate Ratledge. While Glasgow is experienced, the protection issues were glaring. If quarterback preference factored too heavily into that decision, the Lions must recalibrate who drives the process. Dan Campbell has built his tenure on grit, collaboration, and empowering players. But there comes a time when the coach has to reset priorities and demand execution. Week 1 exposed communication breakdowns and schematic flaws that must be resolved immediately. The good news? It's still early. Sixteen NFL teams sit at 0-1 today. Campbell's Lions have historically started slow, but the season is long. Beat the Chicago Bears this Sunday at Ford Field and the narrative shifts. The roster remains stacked—Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Aidan Hutchinson, and others didn't suddenly forget how to play football. The bad news? The schedule ahead is brutal. Road trips to Cincinnati, Kansas City, and Baltimore loom large. Fixes must come fast, or the Lions risk sliding into a hole that talent alone can't climb out of. For now, Detroit Lions fans can breathe, regroup, and remember: it's just Week 1. But as this post game reaction podcast reminds us, the problems on display in Green Bay demand urgency, not excuses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYFMuXh65-g Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! This episode is a reflection on the Firefighters Memorial Trust's Annual Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum for those unable to attend. Surrounded by colleagues, families, and supporters, the day carried immense weight through silence, poetry, and the laying of wreaths, every moment honoured the courage and sacrifice of those who gave their lives in service. The Arboretum, a landscape shaped by memory, reminded us that remembrance is not abstract it is about real people, real stories, and the lasting bonds of the fire service family.Alongside the history of the Trust and its role in preserving memory, this episode also acknowledges the names of firefighters recently lost, including Firefighters Jennie Logan and Martyn Sadler of Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue, among others. Speaking their names aloud ensures they are never forgotten. Remembrance is not only about the past. It challenges us today: to train harder, lead with integrity, support our families, and carry forward the courage of those who came before. Detroit Lions 2025 Season Kickoff: Final Roster & Season Outlook Welcome to the start of the 2025 Detroit Lions NFL Season with the Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris & Jeff Risdon. Training camp concluded, and “football is back” begins. The Detroit Lions have trimmed their roster down to a streamlined core of 52 players heading into Week 1. With the clock ticking toward kickoff against the Packers, the final depth chart is nearly set - and the stakes couldn't be higher. Coach Dan Campbell made tough choices in the final roster cuts, ultimately arriving at a 52‑man squad - a number short of the full 53 roster limit. Notably, backup quarterback Hendon Hooker was released, solidifying Kyle Allen as the clear No. 2 under center behind Jared Goff. With three spots still open, the team is positioned to make strategic in-season additions to round out special teams and depth. Detroit Lions players to watch now rise under scrutiny. Isaac TeSlaa, a surprise choice to stay, and rising defenders like Aidan Hutchinson will have every rep count. Campbell's calm demeanor and message of internal focus—blocking outside noise and trusting the process—resonate as the roster battle concludes and the season beckons. The Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers matchup is more than tradition - it's a measuring stick for early season trajectory. Betting lines have tightened, with the Packers currently favored by 2.5 points at Lambeau Field, and the over/under set at 47.5 points. Detroit enters as the underdog on the road, yet the rivalry's history still carries weight. The Lions split earlier contests, and the NFC North title hangs in the balance from the opening whistle. This game kicks off NFL Week 1, where the depth chart's health and the Lions' preparedness will show. Who steps up under pressure, who chips in on special teams, and how well the rookies perform will all influence early momentum. Heading into the season, several 2025 Lions questions remain: Will John Morton weather the pressure as a new Offensive Coordinator? Can the offensive line hold firm against Green Bay's edge rush? Which players will emerge from the final roster cut as impact contributors? Will Campbell's leadership help dampen the early-season noise and maintain focus? Football is back, and with it, real answers to these questions are on the horizon. If you've followed this show for a while, you'll know how much of a personal interest I have in leadership. And part of the reason for that is because, like many of you, I carry a fear with me: the fear that I might go through my career having an unintended impact on people. That the way I lead, or fail to lead, could leave a mark I never meant to.I think very few people really study leadership. Too often, we assume we can just pull it out of our back pocket, lean on a few inspirational quotes, or stick some words up on a wall and call it leadership. But it's not that simple. Leadership is complex, it's human, and it shapes the culture of our organisations more than anything else. And if we want an optimistic future for the UK Fire and Rescue Service, we have to give leadership the attention it deserves. Because whether it's at station level, on-call, or at chief officer rank, the decisions our leaders make affect trust, confidence, and the very fabric of how we work together. That's why I was so keen to sit down with Mark Baxter, Chief Fire Officer of Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue. Together, we explored not just leadership and personal growth, but also the vital role of community engagement through fire cadets, the opportunities and challenges within on-call firefighting, and how apprenticeships can open pathways for the next generation. We talked about the importance of qualifications and standardisation in the sector, the role of Local Resilience Forums in major incidents, and how supporting neurodiversity and different learning styles can strengthen the fire service as a whole.connect with Mark HEREAccess all episodes, documents, GIVEAWAYS & debriefs HEREJoin me on the United for 9/11: Memorial Stair Climb – Atlanta 2026 HEREPodcast Apparel, Hoodies, Flags, Mugs HEREPODCAST GIFT - FREE subscription to essential Firefighting publications HERE A big thanks to our partners for supporting this episode.GORE-TEX Professional ClothingMSA The Safety CompanyIDEXFIRE & EVACUATION SERVICE LTD HAIX Footwear - Get offical podcast discount on HAIX HEREXendurance - to hunt performance & endurance 20% off HERE with code ffp20Lyfe Linez -  Get Functional Hydration FUEL for FIREFIGHTERS, Clean no sugSend us a textSupport the show***The views expressed in this episode are those of the individual speakers. Detroit Lions 2025 Cutdown To Kickoff: Initial Breakdown Chris & Jeff cover the Lions'  status shuffle of Hendon Hooker, roster cut drama, and depth-chart breakdown—a perfect setup for a new episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast. The Detroit Lions have executed their most critical roster maneuver of the year—trimming to the 53-man roster—and currently sit at 52 players ahead of the season kickoff. The most notable surprise was the release of quarterback Hendon Hooker, who enters free agency after a preseason marred by turnovers and inconsistency. Head coach Dan Campbell had already signaled a shift in the QB hierarchy toward Kyle Allen, and Hooker's performance sealed his fate. Other casualties included veteran tackle Dan Skipper, along with several developmental players who were unable to solidify roster spots. The Lions' final roster currently features three potential openings as they continue to evaluate waiver and practice squad possibilities. Depth Chart Moves and Players to Watch With the Detroit Lions roster in flux, attention now shifts to who solidified their place and who remains on the bubble. The most pressing spotlight falls on: Kyle Allen, now cemented as the clear backup QB following Hooker's release. Daniel Thomas, added to bolster special teams and safety depth, immediately becoming a name to watch for situational snaps. Edge depth was shored up with defensive linemen Tyler Lacy and Tyrus Wheat, potentially shifting the Detroit Lions depth chart in ways fans haven't yet calculated. Training Camp 2025 emphasized competition at every level, particularly with remaining developmental players and late-round picks fighting to define their roles. As the regular season draws nearer, every snap becomes a statement. For a complete rundown of all roster cuts, a deep dive into Hooker's release, and who moved up the charts as the Lions enter the final buildup before kickoff, tune in to this pivotal episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtmB3fjD900 Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! This episode of the Firefighter Podcast dives into the critical concept of flow paths—the routes that heat, smoke, and fire gases take through a structure, driven by pressure differences, wind, and firefighter actions. Understanding flow paths is essential because every door opened, window vented, or tactic applied can either control the fire or accelerate its spread. Modern fire environments, filled with synthetic materials, produce fuel-rich smoke that behaves like a hidden accelerant, making ventilation timing and coordination more important than ever. Recognizing signs such as bidirectional flow, neutral planes, and wind-driven fire behaviour helps crews anticipate danger before stepping into a deadly path. The episode also highlights tactical applications to manage flow paths safely and effectively. These include isolating fires with doors or smoke blockers, controlling inlets, cooling hot gases, and synchronizing ventilation with attack. Special attention is given to flow-path reversals, wind-impacted fires, and high-rise smoke-control systems—scenarios where poor decisions can quickly turn lethal. Ultimately, managing air is managing fire: when firefighters deliberately control flow paths, they increase victim survivability, protect escape routes, and keep themselves out of harm's way. Failure to do so, however, risks letting the fire dictate the outcomeThe Firefighting Foundations mini-series is a focused collection of episodes designed to lay down the essential building blocks of our craft. 2025 Detroit Lions Halfway Through Preseason: Practice Takeaways & Depth Chart Shifts With three days of joint practices in the books and their third preseason game looming against the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Lions are striking the right balance between refinement and evaluation. In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, titled “2025 Detroit Lions Halfway Through Preseason,” we break down key developments—from standout performances in joint workouts to the Detroit Lions depth chart dynamics shaping up as Training Camp 2025 winds down. Amon‑Ra St. Brown has been nothing short of spectacular. During joint sessions against the Dolphins, he repeatedly outmatched defenders with crisp routes and reliable hands. He opened one-on-one drills with a smooth 40-yard touchdown and continued to dominate in the red zone with back-to-back scores. Teammates and analysts have labeled him a “matchup nightmare”. Meanwhile, “Jamo”, a.k.a. Jamison Williams, continues to stand out this summer as well, showing explosive playmaking ability and drawing that supportive nod of confidence from his teammates and opposing coaches. Detroit's defense looked dominant, holding Miami scoreless over nine red zone snaps and stifling drives with relentless pressure and tight coverage. Players like Aidan Hutchinson, Jack Campbell, and Myles Adams delivered impact—supporting the notion that the defense remains a group to fear. Injuries are reshaping the depth chart: Cornerback Dicaprio Bootle and OL Keaton Sutherland have been placed on IR, prompting the Lions to add cornerback Allan George and offensive lineman Zack Johnson for depth ahead of their next preseason appearance. As Detroit Lions players to watch, keep an eye on Jamo continuing to carve his path, Amon‑Ra sustaining his elite form, and the young defenders who are quietly rising. The adjustment to new coaches and schemes, particularly with OC John Morton in place, has been noticeable, though St. Brown expressed the offense still has growing pains. Looking ahead, the upcoming game against Miami isn't just another preseason contest—it's another chance to redefine pecking order on the Detroit Lions depth chart before the regular season drops. With the roster still evolving, every rep counts. In this episode, Kevin Arbuthnot and I take a deep dive into how Incident Command has evolved in the UK not just in policy, but in culture, mindset, and leadership. We explore pivotal incidents that changed the way we operate, the pressures of modern command in an age of greater public scrutiny, and the challenges of adapting to emerging risks like terrorism, climate-driven emergencies, and increasingly complex built environments. We'll also tackle the ongoing debate: can Incident Command remain a living, breathing leadership framework, or is it in danger of becoming a tick-box exercise? If you're new to the white helmet, this conversation will give you the foundation and the foresight to lead with confidence from day one. And if you've been commanding incidents for years, it will challenge you to reflect, refine, and re-energise your approach. Because Incident Command isn't optional — it's either done well, or it's done poorly. And in our profession, that difference can be measured in lives saved or lives lost. This is about more than tactics. It's about understanding the origins of the system, keeping hold of its essential principles, and ensuring that every decision you make under pressure comes from a place of competence, courage, and care. The fireground will always test you. [572] Detroit Lions 2025 Hall Of Shame Game - Detroit Lions Podcast

2025 Detroit Lions Hall of Shame Game: Preseason Takeaways and Concern Rising The Detroit Lions opened the 2025 NFL Hall of Fame Game with a disappointing 34–7 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, raising early alarms as preseason action begins. In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, we dive into key angles—including how Hendon Hooker and rosters fared, what the result means for the Detroit Lions preseason, and how the Detroit Lions depth chart is shaping up as Training Camp 2025 approaches. Detroit's preseason opener in Canton exposed major issues. The Lions committed five turnovers—two on special teams and three through interceptions and fumbles—immediately setting the tone for a sloppy showing. Coach Dan Campbell made his feelings clear postgame: “Turn the ball over and it'll be hard to keep you around.” Kyle Allen started at quarterback and struggled with two interceptions, although he did lead the Lions' only scoring drive. Hendon Hooker came in during the second half, finishing 3-for-6 for just 18 yards and also throwing an interception, further highlighting depth concerns at the QB position. Hooker's performance drew criticism around timing, pocket awareness, and an alarming head hit late during a run. Local analysts are questioning whether he can adapt to NFL game speed, especially after previous injury issues that ended his college season with a torn ACL. Coming off limited snaps in 2024, Hooker needs a bounce-back—fast. This exhibition game setback complicates the ongoing battle for the backup job, with Jared Goff firmly holding the starting role. Despite the loss, some Detroit Lions players to watch emerged as positives. Rookie Isaac TeSlaa made an impact with 2.88 yards per route run and strong blocking, while Ahmed Hassanein demonstrated discipline and situational awareness that align with the new staff's defensive approach. Rock Ya‑Sin also delivered clutch run stops early. Still, the film review of the trenches exposed protection woes and lack of cohesion upfront. Colby Sorsdal's performance after shifting back to guard stood out, but overall line play remains an urgent area for improvement. With Training Camp 2025 imminent, the Lions must regroup. The Detroit Lions depth chart is in flux—especially at quarterback and along the offensive front. New coaches will need to quickly instill discipline and reduce play errors before the regular season. This Hall of Fame Game defeat shouldn't sink morale, but it should motivate corrections. Listen to our full breakdown as we nail down what went wrong, who needs to step up, and which Detroit Lions players are on the bubble entering camp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifmgoirJl-c Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast  Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! The Lions have already seen some injuries affect player availability, including a troubling development for defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike. Detroit Lions Podcast: Life After Ragnow, Coordinator Expectations, and Players to Watch in Training Camp 2025 The countdown to Training Camp 2025 is on, with just three weeks remaining before the Detroit Lions hit the field. On this week's Detroit Lions Podcast, we're diving into a packed show as we assess the post-Ragnow era, break down the new coaching staff, set our 2025 expectations, and spotlight the second-year players who could take the next step. We also challenge the growing national narrative that's beginning to doubt this Lions squad, and share the names we're most intrigued by heading into camp. The retirement of Frank Ragnow marks the end of an era in Detroit. The former All-Pro center anchored the line with toughness, leadership, and elite skill—traits not easily replaced. We take a look at the Lions' internal options, what his departure means for the contract and salary cap picture, and how the offensive line may need to evolve without him. Could we see scheme changes under new leadership? Speaking of change, 2025 brings fresh energy to the Lions' coaching staff, with two new coordinators on each side of the ball. Our podcast breaks down how the offensive and defensive identities could shift this season. What will stay true to Dan Campbell's aggressive style, and where might we see new wrinkles introduced during training camp 2025? The jump from year one to year two is often where NFL players make their biggest leap. This Lions roster is packed with 2024 draft picks ready to break out. We highlight several second-year guys we believe could have Detroit Lions Hall of Fame potential—or at least make a major impact this year. National media has started to cool on the Lions after a red-hot 2024, but we explain why writing off this team is a dangerous mistake. With a maturing core, smart front office decisions, and a hungry locker room, the 2025 expectations remain sky high.
