In Episode 131 of the No Limitations podcast Meeting in a Telephone Box, Blenheim Partners' Gregory Robinson speaks to the 45th Premier of Tasmania, The Hon Will Hodgman. Will was the member for Franklin between 2002 and 2020 and is currently the Principal of Hodgman Partners. In a compelling discussion, Will describes his start in life in a family with an illustrious history in Tasmanian politics. Whilst emphasising the major achievements of his government, including budget repair, an improved tourism industry, better education outcomes, and a stronger economy, he also does not shy away from many of the chronic problems facing Tasmania today. Will depicts himself as a proud and passionate Tasmanian and explains his reasons for resigning as Premier after only six years in office. In addition, Will addresses a number of important topics, including the need for indigenous recognition in the Preamble to the Constitution, his thoughts on four year federal parliamentary terms, and his preference for Australia to become a republic. Will sheds light on his meaningful and rewarding work outside of Parliament as High Commissioner to Singapore and reflects on the “enormous” opportunity for Australia in South East Asia and its common ground with Singapore as an advanced and first-world democracy. Lastly, Will asserts that Tasmania and Australia should seek a more ambitious reform agenda. Will started his career at Hobart law firm Wallace Wilkinson & Webster, practising in criminal and personal injury law. Will was then a solicitor for the Wiltshire County Council in the United Kingdom where he appeared in the County Court and the High Court. Will returned to Hobart and continued to practise as a solicitor and as a barrister before he entered Tasmanian Parliament in 2002 in the electorate of Franklin alongside his father who was the member for the neighbouring Denison electorate. Will was re-elected in 2006 and was unanimously voted as leader of the Tasmanian Liberal Party. After a hung parliament in 2010 in which the incumbent Labor Government was returned to power, in 2014, and under Will's leadership, the Liberal Party formed government. Will served as Premier for six years (including another election victory in 2018) before leaving politics. Thereafter, Will was the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore. He now operates Hodgman Partners, his own consultancy, and acts as an adviser to a range of businesses across the asset management, sustainable energy storage, and technology and artificial intelligence industries. We have several programming notes for our Podcast.First, we are going to pause our coverage of the trial of Alex Murdaugh for the next seven weeks.Second, this week, beginning with today's episode, in recognition of the death of O.J. Simpson last Wednesday, April 10, we are reaching into the archives of Crime Story Media to present a series of special interviews related to the way that the historical narrative of Simpson's trial for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman has been preserved for posterity. We begin today with Kary Antholis's exclusive interview with Bill Hodgman who had oversight responsibilities for the team prosecuting O.J. Simpson: Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden. That interview was conducted on January 24, 2020, the 25th Anniversary of the beginning of Oral Arguments in the trial. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we present Kary's two-part interview with Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, the creators of the Emmy and Golden Globe winning limited series The People vs. O.J. Simpson. And on Thursday and Friday, we present Kary's two-part interview with Ezra Edelman the producer and director of the Oscar and Emmy winning documentary epic, O.J.: Made In America. And finally, as you know, this Jury Duty Podcast began by covering the LA trial of Robert Durst for the murder of his friend Susan Berman.Over the course of three years we have published more than 150 episodes covering the trial, both before and after the pandemic, including extensive interviews, with the lead prosecutor on the case, two of the trial's jurors, and Charlie Bagli, a reporter who had covered the Durst family for decades. As you may know, The Jinx 2 — a six part documentary series sequel to The Jinx about the LA trial of Robert Durst — premieres on the Max streaming service on April 21. In parallel with that broadcast, we are scheduling a special event for Season 10 of the Jury Duty podcast. For each of the six weeks of The Jinx 2 series we will re-release four of our favorite episodes about the Durst trial from the Jury Duty feed… for a total of 24 episodes. The first episode of Jury Duty: The Durst Trial's Greatest Hits will drop on April 22.Now on to the first episode of our Jury Duty Special, The Legacy of the OJ Trial. Here's Kary Antholis's January 24, 2020 interview with former LA Assistant District Attorney Bill Hodgman. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

In this podcast we discuss the challenge of Transforming Infrastructure Performance through accelerating our use of data and the Internet of Things (IOT). It's a concept which having been tabled by the UK Government's Infrastructure and Projects Authority, is now, without question, top of mind for every cash-strapped public and private asset owner and operator looking to close the gap between outcome aspiration and resource reality. As I have reflected before, the future of our built environment depends on doing more with less but also on achieving better economic and social outcomes. The pressure to create more sustainable solutions is growing as legally binding net zero emissions target bear down, and the need to protect our natural environment grows. To achieve these goals it is clear that the global infrastructure sector must radically shift its thinking and in particular ramp investment in digitalisation to embrace the power of new data analysis technologies an artificial intelligence and IOT to accelerate towards the vital change. To discuss this complex challenge, I am joined today by Meredith Hodgman, Policy Lead, for the Internet of Things Alliance in Australia. Meredith joined me recently in Singapore at the 2023 Transforming Infrastructure Performance summit hosted by Bentley Systems where she chaired the event and provided great insight and wisdom into the power of digitalisation. We break into our regularly scheduled programming to bring you a special interview...This week we welcome friend of the show James Hodgman, United States Air Force Technical Sergeant and spokesman for Team RWB Solano. James talks about the upcoming 9/11 Stair Climb in Mill Valley, California, to honor the first responders who responded to the terrorist attacks on 9/11. The Solano Team RWB chapter will meet at Old Mill Park at 64 Cascade Dr. in Mill Valley at 9 a.m. to begin the stair climb on September 16th. The stair climb challenges participants to scale 2,200 stairs while carrying a 40-pound pack. This serves to honor first responders who climbed the stairs of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11. The event also serves as a remembrance of the 2,977 people who died in the terrorist attacks. The event is hosted by Team RWB, a nonprofit organization forging America's leading health and wellness community for veterans. The stair climb is part of Team RWB's “Monthly Missions,” a series of events that bring veterans and supporters together to accomplish one mission that pays tribute to the nation's rich military history and provides veterans with a community that encourages a healthy lifestyle. After his “blank check” for THE GENERAL bounced, Buster Keaton found himself creatively and financially shackled. Thus, 1927's COLLEGE lands on the lesser end of the quality spectrum (not to mention a very difficult watch with Buster putting on blackface for a scene - yikes). But, his follow-up STEAMBOAT BILL, JR. features some of the most memorable and dangerous stunts of Keaton's career, and acts as a beautiful send-off to his period as a self-sufficient filmmaker. The wonderful John Hodgman joins us to chat about both films and his life-long love of Buster. Plus - as always with a Hodgman episode - we go down several delightful rabbit holes: Doctor Who, beans, Goofy's “George Geef” period, large pants, and more! What better way to celebrate a MaxFun Crossover than with one of the Maxiest, Funniest, Crossoveriest(?) people around, Mr. John Hodgman? It's a smorgasbord of topics and delight in this special episode. This episode was originally published in 2021.
Today, Maddy and Julian talk with the amazing John Hodgman who plays Lindsay's father Tom. He's maybe more well known as a writer. He's been a regular contributor to the New York Times Magazine, the Daily Show, and This American Life, and he's been producing his own podcast since 2010, Judge John Hodgman. He was also the PC in those Apple commercials where Justin Long is the Mac. You remember those? How could I forget? That's him! Weird. They talk about what it's like acting rather than writing, the zhuzh he came up with later for his line about the serial killer scale from episode 2, and how his own parental advice may or may not have left a lasting impression on his son. After that, they talk with songwriters and creators Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez about the songs in episode 7. From Straw Hut Media

Power In Your Desert, Power For Your Promise - Chris Hodgman by Nations Church
This week we welcome TSgt James Hodgman to discuss transitioning from military to civilian life. James is a former Security Forces airman, and current public affairs photographer, for the United States Air Force. Anticipating his separation from the military, James wanted to set himself up for success. To that end, he applied and was accepted into the Department of Defense SkillBridge program. The DOD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences. SkillBridge provides service members an invaluable chance to work and learn in civilian career areas. James walks us through how to apply to the program, and also discusses how SkillBridge, coupled with civilian networking, will lead to a smoother transition into a civilian career. We discuss the many pitfalls that military members face when getting ready to separate. He talks about the programs offered through government, and civilian, outlets, and why unfortunately many soon-to-be-civilians fail to take advantage of these opportunities. We also discuss the role NCO's and command play in setting our service members up to be successful when they leave the military behind. Finally, James enlightens us on a new program being used by military branches to combat suicide, the SAFETALK program. Through SAFETALK, service members learn how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs, engaging someone, and connecting them to an intervention resource for further support. James was the first NCO to teach the program at Patrick Space Force Base, FL. So if you are ready to kick off the new year, and your civilian career, with a bang...this is the episode for you.For more information about the DOD SkillBridge Program go to https://skillbridge.osd.mil/index.htm.For more information about SAFETALK go to https://www.livingworks.net/safetalk or check out this article about James and his SAFETALK experience https://www.pointsoflight.org/awards/air-force-retiree-changes-lives-with-suicide-prevention-training/I want to take a moment to thank each and every person that donated and shared our fundraiser for HunterSeven Multi Cancer Screening Kits. Something that concerns trial lawyers more than ever is seating a juror with intractable explicit biases or who believes in conspiracy theories. King County Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Raam Wong experienced this situation when he prosecuted a high-profile, near-fatal shooting of an antifascist protester during a demonstration in Seattle in 2017. Crusaders captain Scott Barrett has been hit with a four week suspension following his red card in last Friday's defeat to the Blues.Barrett was shown a red card in the 46th minute the Super Rugby Pacific clash after making clear contact with his shoulder to the jaw of Alex Hodgman. In other suspensions, Highlanders lock Josh Dickson has been dismissed for three weeks after getting red-carded for an early hit on Tevita Mafileo in their loss to the Hurricanes at Dunedin.Hurricanes hooker Asafo Aumua has also been banned for three weeks for making head contact in the same game.In Barrett's case, Hodgman spilled a pass as he headed into the tackle and, with the ball gone, Barrett connected with the head while making no attempt to wrap his right arm.Hodgman stayed down to receive attention and, after a quick consultation with TMO Aaron Paterson, referee Mike Fraser showed the Crusaders captain a red card as the home fans booed.Commentator Justin Marshall said Barrett was "going to be in big trouble" since the hit was late and collected Hodgman "flush on the jaw"."There's nothing mitigating it," Marshall said. "I don't think there was any intent, but the way it transpired, it was late and he didn't do enough to avoid the collision."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
