Kristi and Angie got together, and they have been doing a lot of research and putting some hard work into compiling a veterinary training manual to help people deal with any challenges related to their relationship with animals.  Although working with animals can be fulfilling and rewarding, it can also be physically and emotionally exhausting. Angie and Kirsti are joining me today to discuss the work they are doing in the field, which includes pet loss and bereavement, compassion fatigue, and strengthening compassion resilience. Be sure to stay tuned today to hear what Angie and Kirsti have to share about reinforcing how people relate to animals. Show highlights: The two life experiences that came together for Angie, that started her journey. Angie explains what a veterinary social worker does. Angie discusses the role she plays as a Pet Loss Support Group Facilitator with VetVine. Kirsti talks about the work she's been doing to increase awareness of the challenges of veterinary technicians. How Angie and Kirsti were brought together, their relationship, and the kind of work they are doing together. About the research that they did through Seneca College, their goal, and the result that ensued. Kirsti shares some profound statistics from their research. Pet loss with species other than dogs and cats, and the euthanasia process. What dysthanasia is, and how to deal with it. What they learned about hospice and palliative care during their study. The importance of addressing caregiver fatigue and burnout. Supporting children in their grief. What veterinary practices can do with the guidelines that Kirsti and Angie have made available. Is being a podcast guest part of your marketing strategy yet? If not, what’s holding you back? I’m gonna take a wild guess that: A) You like listening to podcasts; B) You have a business; and C) You need to get your business in front of potential customers. If any of that is true, then you are not going to want to miss the next couple of episodes I have for you, because they are all about adding podcast-guesting to your marketing strategy. My guest today is Angie Trueblood. She’s a podcast visibility expert, and I met Angie because she’s pitched me on behalf of some of the guests you’ve heard on this show, like Brandi Mowles in Episode 241 about fast-tracking your side hustle growth, Dr. Cortney Baker in Episode 251 about going from side-hustler to CEO and Danielle Hayden in Episode 280 about taking home a bigger paycheck from your side hustle. And now today Angie is on the show to talk about how you can use podcast guesting as a strategy to grow your audience and get customers. Angie and I talk about: Her journey from side-hustle to self-employed. The opportunity podcasts can create for your business. How Angie found clients. Why Angie hired a business coach and how she grew her business. How to stand out from all the other people who are pitching podcast hosts. The six parts of a great pitch. Her best advice for you if you’re struggling to get traction in your side hustle. The one belief Angie had to change about herself to get where she is today. My favorite quotes from Angie: “You don't have to be at some giant stage of business to be featured as a podcast guest and to provide value.” “I think when you do good work and you take good care of your people, it eventually starts to snowball.” “Business is not just marketing, it's managing all of these other behind the scenes things.” Resources mentioned in this episode: Go Pitch Yourself Pitching Roadmap Go Pitch Yourself Podcast Angie’s Bio: As a podcast visibility expert and host of the Go Pitch Yourself podcast, Angie Trueblood knows that the only 'perfect pitch' is the one that leads with value and focuses on building a genuine connection.  Whether she is teaching entrepreneurs how to pitch themselves or working behind the scenes to secure opportunities for others, Angie leverages her super-connector powers to grow businesses and build long-lasting relationships.  When she's not working with her clients or being active in her local community, she loves exploring Richmond, Virginia's parks and playgrounds with her two kiddos, checking out new restaurants with her hubs, and laughing about motherhood with friends. Before I introduce today’s guest, I want to share a little bit of background of why this interview is so important to me. Last September, I was invited to go away for a weekend with 5 total strangers for a business mastermind retreat, which I talk about in depth in Episode 177.  Before that retreat, I was on the fast-track to burnout. I was crazy overworking and pretty isolated, and this group of girls that invited me to be part of their mastermind all lived in Texas at the time. So I traveled to Austin to this mastermind retreat, and of course we all bonded immediately like girls do, and after they realized how on the edge I was, I remember one of them saying to me, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but do you have any friends at home?”  And I was like, “Yes, of course I have friends!!! But… they really don’t understand what I do… They’re polite when I talk about it and they’re happy for me, but they really don’t get it…” And my mastermind group challenged me to make some local business friends.  So I put that on my to-do list as a good Enneagram 3 does, and then I came back to Columbus and got back to work. Fast forward 6 months, and I’m at my friend’s house, and her two sons who just graduated high school are there with two of their friends (who are also brothers) that are always hanging out there, and one of them goes, “Hey! I just found out you’re a web designer? And you have a podcast?” And I’m like “Yeah! I teach entrepreneurs how to DIY their websites and how to market themselves online, and I have this podcast all about how to grow your side hustle.” And he’s like, “You have to meet my mom. Our family owns a web design company, we do digital marketing for small businesses, and they started this podcast called “Flip Flop Your Life” and it’s all about helping people build a life they don’t need a vacation from - and they want to start doing online courses like you do!” So they connected me with their mom, and we set up a lunch date and totally hit it off, and I had to bring her on the podcast to share her business journey! My guest today is Angie Cherubini. Angie and her husband Pat own a web design and digital marketing firm in my hometown, Columbus, Ohio called Cherubini Designs along with their two sons, Chase and Blake, and Chase’s girlfriend Hannah.  Today we’re talking about: How Angie started her web design business in her early twenties, before having a website was a necessity for business owners. Exactly how Angie got her first clients. Why working with bad clients is crucial to your business success. How Angie grew her business before online marketing was even a thing. How Angie’s solo freelance web design business became the family business. How to identify your own strengths so that you can monetize your expertise. Why you don’t have to constantly find new clients to be successful, and how to best serve your existing clients over the long-term. The one thing Angie would change about her business if she could go back in time. Why Angie and her husband Pat decided to start a podcast. Angie’s best advice for you if you are wanting to live the flip-flop lifestyle. The one belief Angie had to change about herself to get where she is today. My favorite quotes from Angie: On staying relevant to your clients: “You have to always be looking at the next step.” “We try to treat everyone of our clients like family.” “We don’t complain about our job like everyone else does, we actually love it!” “You can’t be afraid to be the expert.” “Find out how to monetize something you love.” Resources mentioned in this episode: Flip Flop Your Life Podcast Cherubini Company Bio: Angie was your rock collecting, play in the dirt little girl, high school & Ohio Glory cheerleader (AKA Glory Girl), and Ohio State grad. In today's episode, and after a few recording attempts, I sit down with Angie Burlingame, owner of A Dog's Life Training School. Angie's a trainer that uses a a board-and-train style method, and offers 2 and 3-week programs. She's based in my neck of the woods (Woodinville, Washington) and we talk in detail about what a typical session would look like for those interested in this type of method for training your dog. Angie and I have known each other for a long time, but this was the first time speaking together in person. In This Episode I go in detail, starting with how a boarding type training session begins. We talk about her initial analysis and what initial evaluation steps are important to her. She has a very positive-minded style and technique, and is extremely conscientious about her approach to dogs. Some of the fun stuff we talk about are; How Angie got started (we have a similar story about our sort of "pre-dog training" corporate lives) What led her into the field of dog training Some of the important keys for her to analyze how a dog behaves on first approach What she thinks of training with treats What kind of criteria leads her to use a 3-week training approach We'll talk a bit about thoughts on "pack" training How a "boarding" style of training differs and what is involved in the process Angie's website is ADogsLifeTrainingSchool.com and you can find her on Facebook by clicking here. Angie has some really great videos online as well. Check them out on Facebook or directly on her homepage. Thanks again as always for your feedback and comments. (We think!) If there indeed is, drapes would cozy up the room and add warmth to the space. Bamboo blinds would work, if they are mounted up high behind the rod with an outside mount. The other option besides panels on either side of the fireplace is doing drapes on the long wall, and using custom Roman shades using the same fabric. If the space between the drapery and the fireplace is too close, you may have to do the Roman shades to match the style of the drapes.

Since that time she’s become this powerhouse business woman who loves sharing her light and knowledge with others.   Today, we’re dialing into the present and talking about Angie’s upcoming book, Raise Your Hand as well as her Pays to Be Brave event in October – and all the fears and doubts that come up as a result. She believes that being bold is key and that “no’s” are imperative to anyone’s journey.   I hope you enjoy a good mixture of silliness and seriousness because you’ll get a big dose of both in this episode! Don’t be surprised if you’re ready to write your own book or host an event after listening!    --   Question Highlights: What is the most exciting thing in your life right now? What is the journey your event is taking you on and reflecting back at you right now? What is your new book about? Why aren’t women “raising their hands?” How can we deal with getting no’s? What is something right now that’s pushing on your solar plexus that you have to ask for? Can you share one of your “what was I thinking” moments that’s also helped you grow? How do we tell the difference between a gut check and fear? In This Episode We Talk about: How Angie’s upcoming event, “Pays to Be Brave,” blends both woo-woo and business together Intuitive organic marketing Battling and pushing through fear Why being bold is one of the most important qualities a woman can have Putting a value on what you have to offer and how that correlates with your worth Money as an energy exchange Handing off (or hiring out) things that aren’t in your zone of genius Dealing with negative feedback Why polarity is necessary The difference between the skillsets of an entrepreneur vs. a leader The importance of gut checks and not just what’s on paper And so much more…   Quotes “I treat the marketing and numbers like they’re real people.”   “It’s OK to hear no because it also may be a yes down the road.”   “It’s never as bad as we make it out to be.”   “The business doesn’t grow unless the team grows.”   -- Angie Lee is the hilarious + wicked smart business bestie you've always wanted.
