While planning future episodes of the Go Pitch Yourself podcast, I realized that I'd never done an episode about following up on your pitches. Now, I know that people can struggle with feeling like they're pestering the host or being annoying. But you have to remember that your expertise and unique perspective offer value to the host and their audience. That's why you made the pitch in the first place, right? In the coming months, we're going to be expanding out from podcasts to pitching for visibility opportunities in a variety of areas. But the idea of a well-thought-out follow-up plan and script applies to any medium. The important thing is getting your message out there. You've already identified the audience that you can help, and following up in a respectful way can be a key part of ensuring that you stand out, and increase the number of “yeses” that you get. Topics covered include: How to stop worrying about being annoying and have faith in the value of what you have to offer the audience Understanding that the purpose of the pitch isn't to pester anyone, it's to make sure that they don't miss out on what you have to offer Responses to some of our pitches and follow-ups - including one of our worst responses ever! How, when, and how often you should be following up - and why, if you don't have a schedule, you shouldn't even send the pitch Why having a schedule and templates will make your follow-up activities more effective and efficient Different scenarios for following up after an event, a discovery call, and even when someone has already said “yes” to you! If you have a burning question about pitching, leave a message for me at speakpipe.com/GPY and I could be featuring YOU on a future episode! So what are you following up? This week, I'm revisiting an episode from the start of 2020, which might have gotten lost in everything… well, 2020! But as things begin to look a little more normal, I wanted to revisit the idea of podcast pitching sprints. Because if you're slowly reengaging with your podcast visibility work, a good pitching sprint can really kick things into gear. Although there are a few outdated references (iTunes, anyone?), the content is solid and the idea of pitching sprints is perfect if you're adopting a more purposeful approach to your business' visibility. If you happen to be new to me (welcome!!) and want to learn more about leveraging the power of podcast guesting, you are invited to check out my on-demand Pitch Like a Pro masterclass. Topics covered include: Changes in the way that I measure the benefits of podcast visibility activities - including how to track hard-to-measure factors The logistics of pitching in sprints - and why you're still in control of your interview schedule The real way that you can measure the impact of your pitching sprints An exciting announcement about this year's She Podcasts Live event What a podcast pitching sprint is and what can be achieved by working in this way The long-term benefits of a sprint over just pitching yourself all the time The need to set measurable goals that are in your control Answers to questions from the Go Pitch Yourself community, including how to identify podcasts that complement your business, and how to set up systems to manage your sprints I hope that revisiting the topic of podcast pitching sprints will inspire you in your visibility planning! In our last episode we talked about how, after a LONG time, real-life, in-person networking events are a thing once more. Some of you might be full of joy at the idea, but an equal number of you will be horrified that you're going to have to get out there once again. So how can you make the best out of these opportunities and put yourself and your business out there in a way that still reflects your true, authentic self? To help you out, my guest today is Carrie Sharpe, a Communication Consultant, Speaker, and Co-Owner of He Says, She Says. She is also the co-host of the Speaking with Ryan & Carrie Sharpe podcast. With over twenty-five years of experience and training, Carrie coaches clients in communication and public speaking skills. We talk about how in-person networking (and pitching) should be like courtship. And don't worry, introverts - we've got your back! Topics covered include: The work that Carrie does alongside her husband, Ryan, and how they serve their clients What a networking plan is, and why you should be thinking about creating one How to approach planning for events of different sizes - from smaller in-person networking events, all the way up to multi-day conferences The way to build relationships at events without seeming gross - including how to create your ‘elevator pitch', and the importance of leveraging referrals from the people you connect with How to navigate large in-person networking events if you're an introvert - even down to where to stand in a large room Tactics to make the most out of the connections you make at events - making sure that we're engaging in dialogue and conversation rather than word-vomiting Why Carrie doesn't like to be pitched and prefers to be courted - with an example of what she means! I hope you found this episode useful and that it has given you some tactics which you can put into your next IRL events. So, today we celebrate Episode 50 of the Go Pitch Yourself podcast! Thanks to those of you who've been listening for the last 2 years and welcome to those who've recently joined us. The idea for this episode, about meeting in real life, began a year and a half ago. But then 2020 happened and it was no longer relevant. Since then, it's fair to say that my online and virtual relationships have been critical in making connections and maintaining them, both personally and professionally. Now, though, as the world is gradually opening back up again, it seems like a good time to start looking at how we can begin making connections with people IRL again. Topics covered include: Go Pitch Yourself is 50! It's OK if you didn't get me a gift. All I ask is that you please leave a review wherever you're listening so that people will know that they're going to get value from the show. Thanks so much! Why making connections and meeting people IRL is so important, even if we're doing the majority of our business in the online space How you can connect with people IRL again The advantages of building relationships in your local area - and why I've started working out of a coworking space The benefits of attending conferences...and why I'm thinking about taking a break from them in the immediate future Why you should create your own events with like-minded friends - as formal or informal as you like! I hope you found this episode useful and that it has given you ideas about going into this reopening with intention. I want to hear from you: Are you meeting up with other business owners IN PERSON? Today's episode is a different type of interview than I normally share. After a recent podcast appearance of my own, I was approached by Danny Ozment, the host of ‘So You Want to Podcast?', about appearing as a guest on his show. But rather than just a straight-up interview, he suggested we do a podcast swap. So, instead of recording an interview for each of our shows separately, we recorded one conversation that we both could use for each of our shows. I thought that was a really interesting idea, so that's what you're hearing now. Danny is a marketing consultant, brand strategist and podcast producer who helps entrepreneurs and businesses create podcasts that build brand loyalty and make their marketing efforts more effective. Danny is a classically trained musician who previously worked in arts and music and found he needed to work from home to support his family. He uses his skill set to help podcasters and other businesses deliver their message more effectively. As I mention in the episode, we're both serving the same audience but in complementary ways, which makes for a great discussion and podcast swap. I'd love to hear your thoughts and takeaways from this one, for sure. Topics covered include: Our different approaches to opt-ins Danny's work history and how he transitioned into the podcasting space What makes a guest stand out for Danny The kind of equipment you need, both to appear on other people's podcasts and to start making your own The benefits of guesting on other people's podcasts When is a good time for people to start their own podcasts and not just guest on other peoples? Danny's thoughts on pitching: What makes them stand out in a good way? I hope you enjoyed this episode with two podcast nerds talking shop. And, I'd love to hear your thoughts as to whether or not you might consider the podcast swap approach for your podcast. Tag me on IG @angie_trueblood and let me know what you think. A question I often get from podcast hosts is, "Do the skills you teach around pitching also help in pitching high-profile guests for my own show?" To help answer that question, I'm excited to share this interview with my friend Kate Kordsmeier. For nearly a decade, Kate was a full-time, freelance journalist before creating the Root + Revel wellness blog. This turned into an incredibly profitable, six-figure business - so successful, in fact, that she has grown that business into an asset that she's selling! Over her career, Kate has handled pitches from all angles. As a freelance journalist, she pitched stories to editors, and now, as a podcaster herself Kate is on the receiving end of so.many.pitches. Since launching the Success with Soul podcast in April 2020, Kate has already attracted high-profile guests like Pat Flynn, Amy Porterfield and Tarzan Kay. So how has she managed that? Tune in to find out! Topics covered include: The ways that Kate has followed her gut when pivoting in her career as a corporate copywriter to freelance journalist to blogger and podcaster, even as others had their own ideas regarding her 'dream jobs' How Kate successfully pitched high-profile guests on her show Why appearances on big podcasts might not necessarily convert as well as smaller, more niche shows. I'm so excited that my guest today is Kate Doster, a current client of ours. She is here to share all of her wisdom in the email marketing space, which is closely connected to the world of podcast pitching. Kate is the host of the Inbox Besties Podcast, creator of the Love Your List 2.0 email marketing mega course and is dangerously obsessed with helping ethical entrepreneurs carve out their slice of the interwebs. She helps her students woo open the hearts (and wallets) of their small but mighty audiences thanks to fun email marketing and easy yes mini-offers. In this episode, we go ALL IN on a conversation around freebies and opt-ins that lead people to join your email list in a way that feels authentic AND is profitable. We also talked about how much you should actually ‘give away’ in your opt-in freebies, what format you should use, and we even nerded out on metrics a little bit!. My aim is always to create a safe space where women can feel confident and supported to transform the way they approach visibility and show up boldly as their true selves. Following a coaching call with the members of the Go Pitch Yourself program, I felt something nagging at me to share a bit about our conversations with you. Each time we welcome new students into the program, I’m humbled at the opportunity I’ve earned to support these incredible women in sharing their voices and gifts with the world. As these women are working through how to show up boldly as their true selves, I thought it only fitting for me to do the same. So, in this episode, I also share with you some ideas and topics that I’m considering sharing in a bigger way but have been hesitant to put out there. If you listen to this episode and recognize that you’ve had a block preventing you from showing up boldly, I’d love to hear from you. Bonus, if you’re deciding to push through that fear and do it anyway, share THAT in your IG story and tag me on Instagram, and I’ll take action myself! Writing the classic elevator pitch, similar to podcast pitching, involves telling a story that makes a connection between what you have to offer and what the other person (or their audience) wants. But when it comes to writing your own pitches, or an “about” page for your website, do you struggle to use storytelling in a relevant way that can convince and convert? My guest today, Kim Wensel, is a messaging consultant who sees herself as a personal journalist for her clients by helping them tease out the stories that get to the heart of what makes them unique. I loved chatting with Kim because what she’s talking about absolutely relates to crafting killer podcast pitches. Having a nuanced shift in how you tell your story can help you position yourself as a thought leader and broaden the range of people who get value from your work! Kim Wensel is a strategic communications consultant and writer with nearly 15 years of experience leading nonprofit and small business messaging. At her firm, Pattern Of Purpose, she uses storytelling techniques to help the leaders behind the brands develop their voice and make sense of their varied experiences. She is also the host of the Pattern Of Purpose podcast. Are you our Action-Taker of the Month? If you have a brick-and-mortar business and are trying to grow your visibility, how should your strategy differ from that of an online business? My guest today, Stacy Tuschl, has successfully founded and grown both brick-and-mortar businesses and online businesses. Stacy started her own business at the age of 18 in her parents' backyard and turned that company into a multi-million dollar dance studio that she still runs today. She is a bestselling author, the host of The Foot Traffic Podcast, and the founder of the Foot Traffic Formula, which helps small businesses around the world get more customers in the door. On today’s show, we talk about the differences and similarities of building visibility for both of her businesses, so that you can know if podcast guesting is a good fit for your business. We also go behind the scenes of Stacy’s own podcast pitching strategy and the role her team plays in supporting her. As the host of The Foot Traffic Podcast, Stacy’s team both pitches her for podcast interviews and helps manage the incoming pitches that she receives. We chat about what that looks like, and what it means for you when the pitches you send go to a “gatekeeper’ rather than the host. Are you our Action-Taker of the Month? Is your quest for flawless perfection stopping you from snagging opportunities that will increase your visibility? Lately, I've been thinking that even though we naturally want to put our best work out into the world at all times; sometimes, it’s more important for us to just get something out there. I’ve been talking to members of the Go Pitch Yourself program about the value of B+ work. Even in my own work, I can find it hard to realize that good enough can be enough. I don’t recommend you stop aiming for excellence. But when it stops you from taking the next step and moving forward, it might be more important to just let it go. We’ve talked in the past about pitching to your niche. My guest today has taken that to the extreme and continues to develop the areas where she can get in front of - and bring value to - new audiences. Lisa Lisson is a genealogy researcher and the creator of the Are You My Cousin? blog and joined the Go Pitch Yourself program in January 2020. And even though her zone of genius might initially appear quite narrow, she has used what she has learned to capitalize on a wide variety of situations where she can bring value to audiences. As a genealogy researcher, Lisa Lisson takes the overwhelm out of genealogy research and keeps researchers moving forward finding their ancestors. Whether researching ancestors alongside clients or writing how-to articles and books, Lisa uses her 12 years of research experience to help others build a solid research plan, find the needed genealogy records, and get the most out of those resources. Topics covered include: Details of my first ever live FREE pitching masterclass, Pitch Yourself Like a Pro (March 2021) What Lisa's business involves and how she works with her clients Why Lisa joined the Go Pitch Yourself program and how she uses what she has learned for visibility opportunities aside from podcasts The variety of opportunities that Lisa has been able to tap into and the impact that pitching has had on her business How knowing what her messages and goals were helped Lisa to confidently pitch in-person - including building relationships with affiliates Resources mentioned in this episode: Register for Angie’s FREE live pitching masterclass, Pitch Yourself Like a Pro (March 2021) Get your free downloadable version of Angie's roadmap for podcast pitching success to be notified when the Go Pitch Yourself program reopens Book a discovery call to see if Angie can support YOUR visibility needs Follow Angie on Instagram - and submit your screenshots when you're ready to Go Pitch Yourself Get your FREE copy of Lisa’s The Big Genie List Follow Lisa on Instagram, Facebook, and on her YouTube channel Visit Lisa’s website, LisaLisson.com Now it’s time for you to get out there and Go Pitch Yourself! In December of last year, I reviewed how my visibility work had been going - check out The Go Pitch Yourself Annual Review for 2020. One of the topics I discussed was my success in getting in front of various communities as a guest expert, as a part of my own pitching process and visibility strategy. Well, it turns out this is something that is on a LOT of people’s minds in the Go Pitch Yourself community, so today I take a deep dive into all things “guest expert-y”. I share what different guest expert opportunities look like, why this kind of visibility opportunity can be so valuable, and how you can go about earning them. Also in this episode, be sure to listen closely for a special announcement about my upcoming FREE Masterclass. Topics covered include: What the different kinds of guest expert opportunities look like - and how to prepare for them How the consistency of your pitching and visibility work is key to earning guest expert appearances The number of guest expert opportunities I delivered in 2020 and the number I’m hoping to hit in 2021 as a part of my visibility strategy Can you charge a fee for being a guest expert? At this time of year, I’m usually asked if I think it’s worth pitching for visibility in December. To which I usually say, “Of course it is!” However, because of the global burn-out caused by everything that has happened in 2020 (aka the longest year in history), I can make an exception. So in this episode, I give you six things to do to help kickstart your 2021 visibility work which will ensure you hit the ground running in the New Year. Topics covered include: Don’t forget goal setting in your 2021 visibility work, and remember that these goals should be more than setting revenue targets Think about aligning your visibility goals with business offers Do the talk topics that you are pitching for still light you up? Do they still align with what you want to be known for? We’ve talked in past episodes about the value of having processes and frameworks in place to help streamline your podcast pitches. So today I’m delighted to share a conversation with my friend, the inspirational Carol Cox. Carol is the founder and CEO of Speaking Your Brand®, a coaching and training company that helps high-performing, purpose-driven women entrepreneurs and professionals create their signature talks and gain more visibility, so they can grow their businesses, make a bigger impact, and become influencers in their fields. Carol lays out the parts of the three-part framework she uses with her clients, and we discuss how it relates to pitching for visibility opportunities, including guesting on podcasts. As the pitching techniques we cover here and in the Go Pitch Yourself program applies to any kind of visibility opportunity, we’ve already spoken about the value of public-speaking gigs as a way to build your brand and promote your expertise. But at the time this episode launches (August 2020), we’re in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. So we also cover the ways to transition your in-person stage talk to a virtual one. And - strange as it may seem - the benefits and opportunities that arise from pivoting in this way. Topics covered include: The way Carol and Speaking Your Brand work to raise women’s voices and visibility How Carol developed a framework to streamline her processes after noticing repeated patterns in her work - and how this relates to podcast pitching Changes to public speaking opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic, the benefits of a shift to virtual conferences and tips for reformulating in-person presentations for webinars The Three-Act story structure Carol uses in her framework The way that Carol embodies values-based leadership and how this plays into a 360° view of her brand, informing everything she does Resources mentioned in this episode: Get your free downloadable version of Angie's roadmap for podcast pitching success to be notified when the Go Pitch Yourself program reopens Book a discovery call to see if Angie can support YOUR visibility needs Follow Angie on Instagram - and submit your screenshots when you're ready to Go Pitch Yourself Get more info at Angie's website including details of the Go Pitch Yourself program Visit SpeakingYourBrand.com Watch Carol’s webinar, How to Repurpose Your In-Person Presentation Into an Engaging Webinar or Virtual Workshop Listen to the Speaking Your Brand Podcast and the series on Frameworks Listen to Go Pitch Yourself Episode 24, Podcast Interviews as a Part of Content Strategy with Abby Herman Listen to Episode 116 of the Speaking Your Brand podcast, 16 Ways You Can Use Your Signature Talk Visit Carol on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram Now it’s time for you to get out there and Go Pitch Yourself! Visibility, including podcast guesting, can seem like the sexiest part of business. But it’s definitely not the only part and treating it as such can have a significant impact on the long-term sustainability of your business. Truth is, most female entrepreneurs start their business to achieve financial and lifestyle freedom. But what happens when that business starts to feel more like a job that offers you nothing in the way of freedom? If you’re a solopreneur, that risk increases as you are initially the one responsible for #allthethings. If you want to fit visibility into your business in a way that supports its sustainability, this chat with award-winning business strategist Racheal Cook is for you. Over the last 10 years Racheal has helped thousands of female entrepreneurs design predictably profitable businesses without the hustle and burnout that doing #allthethings inevitably accomplishes. Topics covered include: The difference between creating a job and a business, and how Racheal works with entrepreneurs to ensure that the foundational pieces of their business are in place How Racheal defines “Entrepreneurial Poverty” - and why it is so prevalent in women-owned businesses What Racheal sees as the 5 pieces of any effective marketing system: ATTRACT, ENGAGE, NURTURE, INVITE, DELIGHT The value of batching and using sprints when pitching for visibility opportunities (also, listen to Go Pitch Yourself Episode 11 Podcast Pitching Sprints | Q+A) How podcast guesting has impacted on Racheal’s business The importance of networks, connections and recommendations, alongside the well-crafted podcast pitches Racheal’s FREE 12 Month Profit Plan Resources mentioned in this episode: Get your free downloadable version of Angie's roadmap for podcast pitching success to be notified when the Go Pitch Yourself program reopens. Want to know the ultimate business card is? Believe it or not, it's a book. More and more experts are writing these days as a way of demonstrating their expertise and positioning themselves as the go-to person in their industry. You can do it too! Just think about it for a moment... If you were considering hiring someone to give advice, consultancy or solve a problem, you want to hire an expert, right? There is no better way to show that you're an expert than being a published author (or perhaps speaking on stage or TV). While it takes time and effort to write a book, it's something most people can achieve and there's a lot of help and advice available. You've then got a killer business card you can give (or sell) to would-be clients and sky-rocket yourself up to the top of their list for who to hire. Even publishing isn't an issue these days with the ability to self-publish. My guest today is a friend of the show, Karen Williams. Karen appeared on the Get Real About Business Podcast back on episode 16. Her latest book Becoming an Authority is now out and I invited her back Join the conversation As always, links mentioned in this episode such as Peter's book and website are available on our show notes page. Help A Reporter Out (HARO) is a service which connects journalists and bloggers with relevant expert sources. But, HARO can be really useful for increasing your visibility, both in the media and on podcasts. How? First, mentions in traditional media sources can increase your authority and credibility. And, until recently, HARO has been most relevant for traditional news sources and written media outlets. Increasingly, though, we’re seeing it being used to source expert guests for podcasts, which makes it a valuable platform to include within the scope of your podcast pitching research. In this episode I talk to Erin Ollila, a big brand copywriter and content strategist about how she uses HARO to source relevant experts. We also cover the similarities and differences between pitching for podcasts and HARO, as well as how pitching to HARO can help you to create content which can be used on your other channels. Topics covered include: How Erin uses HARO in her work and what you should expect if you sign up to this service The similarities and differences between pitching for podcast opportunities and pitching to HARO Erin’s idea of what an excellent HARO pitch looks like - plus her No. 1 DO NOT DO! Ask just about any business and they'll probably tell you that they rely on referrals as a way of generating business. Referral marketing is possibly the easiest way to sell. Other people identify potential customers for you and make an introduction. The prospect has already been warmed up, their open to talking with you, and the deal is easier to close. Everybody gets referrals. There are networking meetings nearly every day of the week and some network events even reward their members for referrals given. So why then is it so damn difficult to get referrals? The problem is that you don't have a strategy. Or if you've got a strategy, the strategy is weak or ineffective. My guest today is Steve Gordon. He is an expert in marketing and sales and the host of Unstoppable CEO Podcast. Steve loves referral marketing and in today's podcast, he shares a masterclass on how to generate more referrals. Steve also shares his approach for business planning and how to get ahead in 2020. In today's podcast, you will learn: Four areas that most business owners struggle with and keep them from making more money Why many entrepreneurs fail to properly identify their niche and target market How to generate clients more easily through referral marketing Join the conversation As always, links mentioned in this episode such as Peter's book and website are available on our show notes page. Web and email copy? Why is that important to consider when you’re a podcast guest? Well, as of January 2020, Apple estimates that there are over 550,000 podcasts in existence. You can imagine, then, that there will be a lot of folks in the same niche as you, appearing as guest experts on those shows. So how do you stand out once people discover you on someone else’s podcast? In this conversation with my friend and founding member of the Go Pitch Yourself program Erika Holmes, we talk about how the language you use, both in your pitch and on your online platforms, can bring your personality to the forefront, make you stand out and help you land your dream clients. Erika helps entrepreneurs and personal brands inject heart and humor into their brand messaging, website and email copy. Her specialty is writing clear, personality-filled, human-to-human words that inspire the right people to know, love and trust you to the moon and back. Topics covered include: Why, after years of being a catch-all writer-for-hire, Erika focused on what she loves - writing web and email copy How she was able to identify her ideal clients and attract them by reconfiguring the language she used What is the right amount of personality to share on your online platforms? The similarities (and differences) between website and pitch copy The importance of an “About Me” page on your website What a “Welcome sequence” is and why it is of critical importance to nurturing potential clients Why Erika joined the Go Pitch Yourself program To GIF or not to GIF! I’ve talked in the past that appearing on a podcast, if done right, can be the start of an incredible business relationship between guest and host. In this episode, I talk about all the ways you can help ensure that happens long before the ‘record’ button is hit. Yes, the way you pitch can create a lasting first impression. By the same token, the way a podcast host accepts (or rejects) pitches can be just as impactful. Listen as I lay out ways in which hosts and guests can make the pre-interview process as smooth as possible, so they can both turn up with their best energy. Topics covered include: What does being a gracious guest or host mean when talking about podcast visibility opportunities? How the relationship between guest and host can impact on the quality of the content which is delivered As a guest, playing by the rules of pitching is a great first step. Examples of how guests can show that they appreciate the opportunity The importance of podcast hosts having a clear system in place for potential guests to follow. And if you aren’t accepting pitches, make that clear! With everything I’ve talked about so far on the Go Pitch Yourself podcast, it’s obvious that I think podcasts should be a key part of your visibility plans. But what about traditional media? In this funny (and frank!) conversation with my friend Christina Nicholson, we’ll talk about the similarities and differences between podcasts and traditional media, as well as the best ways to use your pitching skills to maximize your visibility. With her agency Media Maven, and her podcast Become a Media Maven, Christina Nicholson is a TV host who helps bloggers and business owners reach thousands, even millions, of their ideal customers or clients in minutes instead of months through the power of traditional and new media - all without spending big bucks on advertising. Topics covered include: How Christina went from being a TV reporter and anchor to become a professional freelancer The types of service that the Media Maven agency offers and its three-tier model of business for getting earned media, not paid-for advertising Examples of situations where local media appearances may be a better fit for businesses than podcast guest slots What are the differences between pitching for podcast appearances and local media outlets Tips for pitching to local media, what the benefits are and different ways to amplify the impact of your appearance through social media Get Christina’s FREE 3-day video media class at Pitch, Publicity, Profit Resources mentioned in this episode: Get your free downloadable version of Angie's roadmap for podcast pitching success Book a discovery call to see if Angie can support YOUR visibility needs Join the Go Pitch Yourself Facebook community Follow Angie on Instagram - and submit your screenshots when you're ready to Go Pitch Yourself Get more info at Angie's website Get Christina’s FREE 3-day video media class Pitch, Publicity, Profit Angie on Christina’s Become a Media Maven podcast Smart Passive Income Podcast with Pat Flynn Become a Media Maven podcast Christina’s Media Maven agency Christina on LinkedIn Christina on Instagram Media Maven and More Facebook page Follow Christina on Twitter Now it’s time for you to get out there and Go Pitch Yourself! Today on the podcast I will be talking about the nine transformations you want (and need!) to have in your marriage. Some of these things might be going well for you and your spouse, while some of the others might need some serious work. I have discussed these transformations with hundreds of couples in my private practice as well as close friends. Make sure to tune in and stay until the end because I have a treat for all of you who are ready to light your marriage on fire in 2020! 9 Transformations: You want to calm down anger in your marriage You want to reconnect with their spouse You want to have a voice that’s heard You want your spouse to understand where you are coming from, even if they don’t agree You want to create a lasting relationship free from worrying about disconnect You want emotional and physical intimacy that stands the test of time You want to feel like a priority to your spouse You want to look forward to coming home You want to reconnect with your BFF (your spouse!) These are the 9 transformations people want in their marriage. Are you wondering how you can go about making these changes? The first thing you have to do is to start looking at YOU and your impact on things. If you go straight into a discussion trying to correct any of these things and coming across as attacking, you are going to have a hard time figuring it out. I encourage you to start using the word “I” instead of ‘you”. Instead of saying “you need to do the laundry” try saying “I would love it if you would take the kids out of the house for a few hours so I can do the laundry”. Doesn’t that statement sound much less aggressive and attacking towards your spouse? After you listen to the episode, I want you to email me directly at hello@amywine.com and tell me which of the 9 transformations you relate with. Which ones would you love for me to cover on an upcoming podcast episode? After you email me, be sure to head over to www.amywine.com and sign up for my FREE beta course called SPARK. This course will help you reignite your marriage like you just said I do. Who doesn’t want that?! It's going to hit on every one of these transformations and will tell you exactly how you can change it. SPARK will be full of actionable, detailed information that you can take home to reignite your marriage. As a bonus, I will be going live every week for 3 weeks in our group to answer all of your questions so get them ready! Make sure to sign up at https://amywine.com/sparkmarriagecourse I will see you all here next week! Are you showing up as the best you in your marriage? Somedays you might say yes, and others you might be crawling under a table and hiding because your answer is a big fat, NO! I know so many of you are hearing “new year, new you”. I know this is supposed to be positive, but honestly, I hate it. Why can’t it be “new day, new you”? Why do we have to think that you can only change when it’s a new year? I want to make a change any day I want! We are constantly in a state of change and people that don’t like change, don’t like to think of it that way. We should always be moving forward and not staying stuck or moving backward. I am so passionate about being the healthiest and best you so you can have the best marriage possible. Today I want you to sit down, review the questions in this episode, and look at YOU. Grab a pen and paper and think about the questions and how they relate to your life. This is going to go deep so prepare yourself! Questions to Ask Yourself: What have you done in your life that you are proud of? How have those successes shaped your life? Are you feeling proud of yourself? How does this play a role in your life? How did your parents show their love for you? What is it that you want your partner to understand about you? What difficult things have you experienced in your life? Has your own trama had lasting effects on you? What are you doing to protect yourself from these traumas? How do these things affect your marriage today? How did your family express happiness? Fear? Sadness? Anger? What is your philosophy on expressing feelings? Is it easy or hard for you? How do you want people to remember you at your death? What is the mission statement for your life? What is your purpose? Who do you want to become? What do you want your life to be like in 5 years? Write your story. I hope you sit down and take time to REALLY go through this exercise. Bonus points if you can do it with your spouse. These questions make you dig deep but the couples who have done this have had phenomenal success. After you do this exercise I would love to hear from you. You can reach out to me directly at hello@amywine.com. You can also go to www.amywine.com and find out how you can work with me one on one. If you go to www.amywine.com you can also jump on the waitlist for my newest course that will be launching soon: SPARK. This course will walk you through transitioning from married roommates to a marriage on fire.
