Podcasts about in death series

From 1998 - 2004, Nora wrote seven standalone novellas - all with a magical flair. These are also the last novellas she has ever wrote outside of the In Death Series. This is part 1 of our discussion of these novellas, and in this episode we are focusing on Spellbound (1998), Ever After (1999), and In Dreams (2000).

We are finishing our two-part discussion of the first three books in the In Death Series. Listen as we discuss Glory in Death (1996), and answer the BIG question: will we continue to read J.D. Robb?

In this episode, we talk about all the "Bromances" in the "In Death" Series! For the first half of the episode, Tara was unable to join us, but she joins us in the second half of the episode with some amazing insights as always. First "Bromance" we talk about is Roarke and Brian Kelly, who are AJ's "BrOTP." Brian is a perfect friend for Roarke because he's super loyal but also just in general a chill dude who sees the fun in life, and Roarke needs that kind of influence in his life. Also, we think Brian needs to take a trip to New York to party with Eve's bullpen. Second we talk about Baxter and Trueheart. We love how taking Trueheart on as a partner has turned Baxter into a more rounded character, and Baxter is helping take just enough of the "shine" off Trueheart. Also, who doesn't love that Jenkinson and Reineke match their ties and socks? When Tara joins us, we talk about everyone's favorite "Bromances," Roarke and Feeney and Roarke and McNab. We love that Roarke bonds with Feeney over electronic and everything Irish, and he bonds with McNab over electronics and fandoms. Also: Roarke shipped Peabody and McNab before even Peabody and McNab did. Roarke is the Captain of the Peabody and McNab Ship. We also go off on a little debate about smoking. It's a new season and we are off with a bang. You've asked and we are answering! We are reading the first three books in the In Death Series. These are completely new reads for us, and there's so much to say that we had to split this into two parts. Listen to part one as we discuss Naked In Death (1995) and Glory in Death (1995).

Just like the previous episode, I've been saving the books up in piles on the floor in my office from shopping trips between October 2019 and March 2020, when my physical book buying ban began. Since then, I've fallen off the bandwagon and "forgot" about my book buying ban. As the title suggests, all the books in this haul feature female amateur sleuths who are amateurs and are not professional Detectives or police officers. For the sake of clarity, I do not include characters like Eve Dallas from the In Death Series. Hey, Everyone! It's time once again for everyone's favorite podcast episode: We Review the Reviews! This week, we review the reviews of "Forgotten in Death" and there are some really crappy reviews for this one! We actually start off a bit differently than normal by talking about a horrible review that Nora got on her own blog on a post that publicist Laura created for discussion of "Forgotten." Click here for the link to see all the awfulness. I mean...calm down, Jan! UPDATE...we didn't look at the actual thread when we talked about this comment, so we didn't see that after Nora ripped Jan a new one, Jan actually did apologize! So, good job, Jan! After that, there are just a TON of "is Nora even writing these anymore?" comments, some comments about Nora putting her own politics into the books, and only one about the boring, yet passionate sex. Also, the weirdest review we have ever read. We have someone who felt there wasn't enough interaction with "Summerfield" and someone "disappointed, almost cheated." To which Jen said: "Good Job, Pooping!" Which seems appropriate since most of these reviews are crap. As usual, there's the obligatory Susan Ericksen review that got AJ pissed off, but one sensible person who says "Susan Ericksen's audio never fails. WOW!" Look people: Susan Ericksen's Roarke voice is pretty spot on, but don't take my word for it, watch this promotional video for the series "Leonardo" that Aidan Turner starred in where he is interviewed, and listen to his accent. This week, we talk with "In Death" Series fan Katheryn, who AJ came across on Apple Podcasts. Katheryn has a podcast where she reviews books, (https://podcasts.apple.com/at/podcast/dear-author-signed-me/id1526009974?l=en) and she gave a really good review of Naked in Death and said that she was a big fan of the series, so we thought that it would be fun to have her on the show while Tara is away this week. The main topic of our discussion is Eve's character progression. If you have listened to our earlier episodes, especially the "We Review the Reviews" episodes, you know how frustrated we get with people who claim that Eve never progresses as a character. For Katheryn, discussing Eve's character progression is one of her favorite things. She's extremely knowledgeable about the series and it made for a really great discussion. We hope you enjoy it!

We decided to talk about the Urban Wars this week because of a post that was made by Nora Roberts' publicist, Laura, on the J.D. Robb Facebook page. It would seem that because of the craziness of 2020 many people are asking whether or not we are in Urban Wars Territory. We completely understand why Laura is cranky. You can't really discuss an "Urban Wars" in the In Death Series without getting a little bit into what the politics may have been to start that happening. And once you start talking about politics, things get really tense. So, we do understand that occasionally, if you are a moderator of that kind of forum, you have to step in and sometimes get tough with people if things really start to get nasty. But anyway... Urban Wars! Given the entire history of mankind, it's really not a stretch to postulate that there might be another world war in the coming decades. So, Nora isn't necessarily psychic, just a good guesser!! As Laura said in her post, this is a fiction series, and Nora is not necessarily trying to predict things or make any kind of a political statement, but is just trying to write good fiction. We talk in this episode about some of the details that we know about the Urban Wars, and why things may have happened as they did. We talk about Summerset having been a medic during the Urban Wars and why that might have happened. We go off on a rant about fast food iced tea, pop, soda, and chicken fingers. Also: Put your kids in speech class. It's a very important skill to have.
