The NLS annotation follows: Still see you everywhere DB119891 Gardner, Lisa. Reading time: 11 hours, 37 minutes. Read by Hillary Huber. Suspense Fiction Mystery and Detective Stories “No man truly fears a woman. Not even one who is her father’s daughter. The case was sensational. Kaylee Pierson had confessed from the very beginning, waived all appeals. She had called herself “death,” but people called her the devil. Despite the media’s chronicling of her tragic circumstances-the childhood spent with a violent father-no one could find sympathy for “the Beautiful Butcher” who had led eighteen men home from bars before viciously slitting their throats. Now, with only twenty-one days left to live, Pierson has finally received a lead on the whereabouts of the sister who was kidnapped over a decade ago, and she needs Frankie’s help to find her. The Beautiful Butcher’s offer: When was the last time your search ended with finding the living? Unable to resist the chance for a rescue, Frankie takes on Pierson’s request. Twelve years ago, five-year old Leilani went missing in Hawaii. The main suspect? Pierson’s tech mogul ex-boyfriend, Sanders MacManus. Now, on a remote island in the middle of the Pacific-the site of MacManus’s latest vanity project-fresh evidence has appeared. In order to learn the truth and possibly save a young woman’s life, Frankie must go undercover at the isolated base camp. Her challenge: A dozen strangers. Countless dangerous secrets. Zero means of calling for help. And then the storm rolls in…”– Provided by publisher. Unrated. Commercial audiobook. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for August 13th Publish Date: August 13th Commercial: From the BG AD GROUP Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today is Tuesday, August 13th and Happy 54th Birthday to MLB Player Mark Lemke. ***08.13.24 – BIRTHDAY – MARK LEMKE*** I'm Dan Radcliffe and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Credit Union of Georgia. Two Special Elections Schedules OK'd by Elections Board Police say Rep. Seabaugh Refused Sobriety Tests Suspect's Record Revealed in Officer-Involved Shooting All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe! BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Two Special Elections Schedules OK'd by Elections Board The Cobb Elections Board approved two potential schedules for special elections to fill the District 2 and District 4 seats on the Cobb County Board of Commissioners. The exact schedule depends on whether a December runoff occurs for the November general elections. If no runoff is needed, primaries would be held on February 11, 2025, with the general election on April 29, 2025. If a December runoff does happen, primaries would move to March 18, 2025, and the general election to June 17, 2025. This decision follows a legal dispute over a home rule map that led to the cancellation of previous primaries and general elections for these seats. Commissioner Jerica Richardson's and Commissioner Monique Sheffield's terms end on December 31. STORY 2: Police: Rep. Seabaugh Refused Sobriety Tests State Rep. Devan Seabaugh, R-Marietta, was arrested for DUI Thursday night after a crash involving a cyclist on Memorial Drive in Atlanta. Seabaugh, who refused sobriety and breath tests, denies being intoxicated, claiming he had only one beer hours earlier. A GSP report noted he exhibited signs of intoxication and was unsteady. The cyclist suffered minor injuries and was unsure if he was hit. Seabaugh, driving with three other passengers including fellow state reps, faces multiple charges. His case will be heard on September 4. Refusal to take sobriety tests may lead to a license suspension under Georgia's implied consent law. STORY 3: Police Share Record of Suspect in Officer-Involved Shooting Nathain Jenkins, 32, of Valdosta, was shot and killed by Cobb police at a Smyrna Walgreens on Friday evening during an altercation. Jenkins, who was armed, had multiple outstanding warrants from Lowndes and Fulton counties. Authorities are investigating a possible link between Jenkins and a previous vehicle pursuit that occurred weeks earlier. Cobb Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer confirmed the officers involved have been placed on leave and expressed condolences. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is handling the case and is seeking witnesses. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info. We'll be right back Break: DRAKE – COBB INTERNATIONAL FAIR STORY 4: Cobb Eyes $87.5 Million Payout to Cities for Services The Cobb County Board of Commissioners is set to vote on a new Service Delivery Strategy (SDS) agreement that would provide $87.5 million to six cities over the next decade. The agreement would start with the cities splitting $6.5 million in the first year, increasing by $500,000 annually. This comes after a dispute over reimbursement for essential services led to mediation between the county and cities. The agreement must be approved by the commission and all six city councils by October 31 to avoid state sanctions affecting grants and permits. STORY 5: Man Indicted in Slaying of KSU Student Samuel El Harris, 21, has been indicted on murder charges by a Cobb County grand jury in connection with the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Alasia Franklin at Kennesaw State University on May 18. Harris faces charges including felony murder, malice murder, and aggravated assault. The shooting occurred after a dispute outside the Austin Residence Complex. Harris, Franklin's ex-boyfriend, is accused of hiding her cellphone and car after the crime. Franklin, a KSU student government senator, was remembered for her dedication and service. Harris remains in Cobb County Jail without bond. We'll be back in a moment. Break: INGLES 7 STORY 6: Bounce for Pounce Scores for Cat Rescue Efforts Pounce de Leon hosted its “Bounce for Pounce” tennis tournament at Lost Mountain Tennis Center on August 11, raising funds for their cat rescue group. Twenty-four players competed, with James Smith and Kim Keller emerging as top scorers, winning prizes organized by Lisa Gardner. Pounce de Leon rescues homeless and abandoned cats, working with Petco stores and 50 foster homes across Atlanta. Since its founding in 2023, the group has adopted 192 cats and provided trap-neuter-release services for 250 cats. The event, supported by Sprouts Farmers Market and Costco, contributes to addressing cat overpopulation in Georgia. STORY 7: Motorcyclist Killed in Maxham Road Collision Alejandro Garcia-Zavala, 26, was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday night in Austell, Cobb Police report. Riding a 2016 Honda CBR 650 southbound on Maxham Road, Garcia-Zavala lost control near Pontiac Circle around 10:36 p.m., striking a curb and guardrail before being ejected into a creek. The motorcycle came to a stop in the median. Garcia-Zavala was pronounced dead at the scene. Cobb County Police are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident. In STILL SEE YOU EVERYWHERE, Frankie Elkin is suddenly contacted by Kaylee Pierson, “the Beautiful Butcher,” a notorious serial killer who viciously murdered eighteen men. Pierson – on death row in Texas with only 21 days left to live – has received a tip on the whereabouts of her beloved younger sister Leilani, who was kidnapped more than a decade earlier and may be in the clutches of Pierson's wealthy ex-boyfriend. Fearing for her sister's life, Pierson desperately needs Frankie's help. Despite her reservations, Frankie is compelled to search for a missing person who might still be alive -- before her only sister meets her death. Welcome to Pomaikai. Nothing here is as simple as it first appears. With no time to lose, Frankie finds herself traveling undercover to an ecolodge development project on an isolated island south of Hawaii that boasts gorgeous ocean views, deserted beaches, and incomparable endemic wildlife but has no cell signal, no reliable internet, unpredictable extreme weather, and where emergency help is at least three days away. On arrival, Frankie encounters eleven fellow contract workers and gets the immediate sense that most of them are lying to her. But why? And how much will it cost her to discover the truth? Off the grid and entirely on her own, Frankie must quickly sort out friend and foe. But Frankie's superpower is her adaptability, and she is soon following increasingly dangerous leads as she edges closer to the truth. Heart-pounding, twisty, and atmospheric, STILL SEE YOU EVERYWHERE shows that even paradise can come with its own dangerous edge. Such a pleasure to have the return of Lisa Gardner to the Adult Education Podcast. I've fallen in love with her latest character, Frankie Elkin, and her series of books. The first one came out in 2021, and was followed up in 2022 with book two. But then 2023 came and went without a new book. I started to get worried that the Frankie series may be over and done with.Turns out, it almost was. In fact, Lisa almost stepped away from writing. We talk about that in the conversation. Thankfully Frankie is back in a new book called 'Still See You Everywhere.' Lisa's imagery in this book is amazing. I genuinely felt like I was in the story because of her beautiful ability to share her vision.I hope you like our chat, and that you check out the new book!

My latest grand expedition was back in September in the Arctic. I spent most of the month with Lindblad-National Geographic exploring several of my favorite places: Norway, Greenland, and Iceland. Oddly enough, although I grew up in Southern California, I've always been drawn to higher latitudes—the Arctic in the north and Antarctica in the south—and my expedition with Lindblad-National Geographic was a great opportunity to go far north again and get back to some of those favorite places. In this episode, you'll hear about my voyage in the High Arctic with Lindblad-National Geographic. I describe our voyage through the far north of Norway and the volcanic Jan Mayen island. I discuss the spikiest summits I've ever seen and explain how frost-shattering weather rocks into jaggy mountains. I describe my fellow passengers on the expedition—including bestselling thriller novelist Lisa Gardner—and their fascinating, diverse backgrounds. You'll also learn how I conducted an experiment inspired by this podcast's theme—Spaceship not required—and the characteristics that make an explorer. “Spaceship not required—nor a certain job title, nor a certain percentage of your working hours; if you're curious, going, testing, and learning, you're legitimately an explorer.” - Kathy Sullivan This week on Kathy Sullivan Explores: Sailing among witches' hats: our voyage through the far north of Norway The awe-inspiring Jan Mayen island Our time at the Northeast Greenland National Park The spikiest summits and craziest mountainside I've ever seen Iceland—a true marine geologist's paradise The site of the first democratic parliament in the world My fellow passengers, their diverse backgrounds, and my mini experiment “Doing” versus “being,” and the things that make an explorer Our Favorite Quotes: “The peaks are the result of frost shattering the rock into tiny little bits, so you get absolutely jagged 6,000-foot-tall mountains right above.” - Kathy Sullivan “I think you're exploring if you're tuning in to this podcast, even a little bit, and I hope you keep exploring.” - Kathy Sullivan Spaceship Not Required I'm Kathy Sullivan, the only person to have walked in space and gone to the deepest point in the ocean. I'm an explorer, and that doesn't always have to involve going to some remote or exotic place. It simply requires a commitment to put curiosity into action. In this podcast, you can explore, reflecting on lessons learned from life so far and from my brilliant and ever-inquisitive guests. We explore together in this very moment from right where you are--spaceship not required. Welcome to Kathy Sullivan Explores.
