For years, people have asked what active searching for Alissa looks like in 2026. In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of a recent search effort that left me with more questions than answers. After being directed toward a specific area, our search team brought in trained dogs. During the search, the dogs alerted in a location that raised serious concerns. Despite those alerts, law enforcement has declined to conduct additional follow-up at this time. This episode isn't about speculation. It's about documenting what happened, sharing the reality of searching for a missing loved one decades later, and explaining why families often find themselves fighting for answers long after public attention fades. Alissa Turney disappeared from Phoenix, Arizona, on May 17, 2001, and remains missing. If you have information about her disappearance, please contact the Phoenix Police Department, submit a tip to Silent Witness, or contact me directly. Thank you for continuing to keep Alissa's name and story alive. March 21, 2008. Cowan, Indiana. After leaving his job at Ball State University, 48-year old Garth Rector returns to his rented farmhouse before he is shot five times inside the kitchen by an intruder who presumably broke into the residence. While there is initial speculation that the crime was a burglary gone wrong, the only item which appears to be stolen is Garth's wedding ring. At the time of the murder, Garth was separated from his wife and had conducted affairs with some other women who had spouses of their own, but while there are a number of persons of interest, investigators do not have enough evidence to implicate any of them. On this week's episode of “The Trail Went Cold”, we explore the unsolved murder of Garth Rector. So if you happen to have any information about this case, please contact the Delaware County Sheriff's Office at (765) 747-7878. Send us a text and chime in!As motorcycle traffic increases across Arizona, Prescott Valley Police are reminding both riders and drivers to prioritize roadway safety. The recent legalization surrounding the limited motorcycle lane filtering may be creating confusion at a time when motorcycle fatalities continue to rise statewide.Under Arizona law:Lane filtering allows a motorcycle to move between stopped vehicles at a traffic light or during stopped traffic conditions.Lane splitting is riding between vehicles that are still moving, which remains illegal in Arizona.Understanding the distinction is important for both motorists and riders. Misinterpreting the law could contribute to risky riding behavior and create dangerous situations on already busy roadways.According to the Arizona Department of Transportation data, 258 motorcyclists were killed in Arizona in 2023, the highest number in two decades and a 26% increase compared with 2019. It was also the deadliest year for Arizona riders since 1975.Several factors may be contributing to the increase, including:More motorcycles on the road due to high fuel pricesA strong economy leading to increased spending on recreational hobbiesRisky riding behavior, including speeding and impairmentOfficers know that even experienced riders can encounter dangerous situations quickly, which is why they encourage defensive riding habits such as:Assume you are invisible. Riders should avoid lingering in blind spots and position themselves where they are most visible to drivers.Look ahead. Scanning farther down the roadway helps riders identify hazards earlier and react more safely.Use extra caution at intersections. A large percentage of motorcycle crashes occur at intersections, especially when vehicles turn left in front of riders.Wearing a helmetRiding defensivelyUsing high-visibility riding gearRemaining alert and avoiding impaired driving or ridingThe Prescott Valley Police Department wants every rider and driver to make it home safely. Continued education, responsible riding, and increased awareness from everyone on the road can play an important role in improving motorcycle safety across Arizona.IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!Silent Witness: yavapaisw.com or p3tips.com | 1-800-932-3232Prescott Valley Police Department can be contacted at 928-772-9267 for non-emergencies, and 911 for emergencies.Check out the CAST11.com Website at: https://CAST11.com Follow the CAST11 Podcast Network on Facebook at: https://Facebook.com/CAST11AZFollow Cast11 Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/cast11_podcast_network

We finish one year and start the next with an ode to good food. Emilia Fox is an English actress and presenter. She is best known for playing Dr Nikki Alexander in the popular long-running TV series Silent Witness, a role she has been playing since 2004, when Nick was still at university and Angela was on TV with Gordon Ramsay in Hell's Kitchen. Emilia is with us to chat about the upcoming series of the show (its 29th!!) which lands on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in early 2026. But before that, we have (just enough) time to go through Emilia's likes and dislikes, which have been made into a novella with a limited print run... of three. Emilia is passionate about seasonal and Italian food, and could eat roast chicken every day, so immediately enters into Angela's good books. We begin the show by serving a perfectly chilled vodka martini with a twist. This is followed by a butternut & toasted pumpkin seed risotto, paired with a glass of Ricossa Barbera Appassimento Piemonte DOC. There's no need for rice fear as Angela guides Emilia and Nick through her risotto method and top tips. This is a heart-warming dish, recipe and guest with which to start 2026. We get Emilia's love of great food, her stories of being a (very sackable) waitress and how she deals with dead bodies on set. Plus, a few thoughts for potential New Year's resolutions. Bellissimo! Maurice – or Melissa, as they sometimes introduced themselves – was 22 when they were shot and killed in Phoenix, Arizona. They were just starting to build a name for themselves as a performer, making it to the regional final for American Idol and acting in dozens of local productions, including The Wiz, Westside Story, and Alice in Wonderland. But the curtain fell too soon…According to friends and family, gender identity was fluid for Maurice. They sometimes presented as femme and went by Melissa, as they did the night of the shooting. This led both LGBTQ+ activists and local officials to fear that maybe this was a hate crime. Maybe… But investigators have struggled to pin down a definitive motive – and the killer. If you have any information at all about the murder of Maurice Dupree Green, also known as Melissa, in March of 2006, please come forward. You can reach Detective Roestenberg directly at 602-534-5920 or the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151. And if you'd prefer to remain anonymous, you can also call the Silent Witness tip line at 480-948-6377.If you or someone you know is affected by anti-LGBTQ+ violence or in need of support, you are not alone–help is available.
