Hi, Everyone! This week we are talking about "Strangers in Death," Nora's homage to "Strangers on a Train." It's an interesting book with some really great character interactions. AJ suggests that the main theme for this book is "payback." Paying back a debt, or owing someone for services rendered. The main murder mystery is definitely a "payback" situation, but also, we see Tiko in this book, who gives Eve a tip about some thieves who are running a wallet/purse theft and identity theft operation. In payment for that, Eve arranges for Tiko to get a reward. Then to pay Eve back for the reward, Tiko's grandmother gives Eve a pie. This theme also plays out in the very short argument that Eve and Roarke have over money. Roarke doesn't understand why Eve doesn't ask him for money when she's short, and Eve tries to explain that she would feel in debt to him, and that she would need to pay him back. Our villain here is Ava Anders who is a complete b*tch. Eve doesn't like Ava from the very beginning...mostly because Ava reminds Eve of "Magdabitch" and sees her takedown of Ava as almost a payback by proxy for Magdalena. Some really fantastic banter between Eve and Peabody and Eve and Roarke. Feeney is sick and being a drama queen, Baxter has a really tough case going cold, and is a bit sad when they find out who's behind not only Eve's case but his. Hey, Everyone!! It's our 2-Year Anniversary!! And we were SO honored to have our friend Susan Ericksen as our special guest on our 2-Year Anniversary Show!! Also joining us were several of our Patrons who watched us record this episode LIVE!! In this episode we chat with Susan about the "In Death" Series in general. We ask about what books in the series stand out for her, what moments from the series shocked her or made her overly emotional. She tells us why she thinks the dialogue in the series is so good, what characters she would like to see again, and how she sees the series ending. It was a really fun hour and a half with her and we hope you all enjoy it!

The book opens with Reva Ewing angrily driving to her best friends house. Reva's best friend, Felicity Kade, has been having an affair with Reva's huband, Blair Bissel. Reva breaks into the house with the thought that she would catch them in the act and maybe give Blair a stun to the balls. What Reva finds, though, is Blair and Felicity have been stabbed to death. Next thing she knows, she smells a chemical and passes out. When Reva wakes up, she calls the one person she can trust the most: her mother, Caro. Caro then calls the one person SHE trusts the most, and that is Roarke. Roarke then grabs the one person HE trusts the most and that's Eve. "Divided in Death" is ultimately a book about trust. Reva trusted both Kade and Bissel, and that trust was violated in more ways than one. She then puts her trust in her mother, then Roarke, then Eve. But it's also about the trust that Eve has in Roarke, a perceived violation of trust between Eve and Mira, and the trust that Eve has in Feeney and Peabody. This book has pretty much everything you could ever want in an "In Death" book: Great mystery, heart wrenching relationship issues, great scenes of Peabody and McNab in Jamaica, great scene with Mavis and then an Eve makeover that leads to one of the best sex scenes in the series...Eve confesses her crush on Dennis Mira, and Nora correcting a previous mistake in the best way. Just overall a great book! It also has men who are the worst. And we can't believe we have to say this AGAIN, but DON'T STEAL OTHER PEOPLE'S SEX TOYS, ROARKE!!! THAT'S JUST GROSS!!

This is our longest episode yet, everyone, so buckle up and get ready for the ride! Faithless in Death is a DENSE, Action Packed book, and we Loved it! Tara especially loved it, and has lots to say about it! AJ feels like the "theme" of this book is Freedom, mostly because a lot of what happened in this book happened because of people trying to find, get or keep freedom. This case involves the "Natural Order" cult, human trafficking, conversion therapy and the murder of Arial Byrd, which is where Lieutenant Eve Dallas comes into all of it. Right away Eve has a main suspect, and she is not buying any of the bullshit that Gwen Huffman is trying to sell her. Problem is that Eve and Peabody can't place her at the scene of the crime. Enter the latest addition to Eve's bullpen, Officer Jan Shelby who tells Eve that not only does she personally know Gwen Huffman, but that Gwen's parents are influential members of "Natural Order" and Gwen Has a huge secret that she might kill to keep her parents from finding out. But did Gwen Huffman order the killing of Arial Byrd, or, is someone else trying to keep Gwen Huffman's secret safe? Eve sets out not only to find the real killer of Arial Byrd, but to bring down a powerful religious cult. There are a TON of Eve-isms in this book, and we go through a lot of them. They are amusing, even to AJ. Tara says she just loves everything that Eve says and does in this book, and we really love how Susan Ericksen read this book. We liked the addition of Mavis and Leonardo buying a home and asking Peabody and McNab to come and live with them. Although, Tara feels like how this was done (Mavis and Leonardo asking Peabody and McNab to come live with them) was a bit manipulative. AJ doesn't understand the whole "sex fully clothed" scene. We all love "Super Genius Gina," and are super glad she was saved from a life with this cult and her asshole husband. We are all really confused now as to how the AutoChef works since, apparently, you can transfer AutoChef menus from one AutoChef to another. We were disappointed though that a) Roarke didn't buy the bullpen food, and b) we didn't get to see Roarke take them out for food.
