How quickly can humankind forget events that have so negatively impacted them? This phenomenon spans many issues, but in today's episode, we discuss some more gun debate and we are high on tariff watch. President Donald Trump has announced on social media and other outlets, that a steel and aluminum tariff are coming. This is part of his America First agenda. Really, it's a way to stir up his base. However, this doesn't put America First. It only benefits a very minute sector of American industries and could be costly to every other American. As I mentioned before about history, one only has to look to the 1930's to understand why tariff's like this are an atrocity. That time period was the last time that America exported more than it imported. It wasn't a good time. Don't be fooled. Listen in and hear why this is bad news for everyone. We hated to do this, but a gentleman we really admire on the show, and listen to his show all the time, the Jason Stapleton Program, has gone back and forth with a listener about some different gun control measures. Shockingly, we didn't agree with what Jason had to say in regards to a position he was defending. Jason defends a stance that guns can be taken away from you in a restraining order type process, if your mom or relative petitions the court, before due process has taken place. We explain what constitutes due process as well as not wanting to give an inch to the gun grabbers. Friday I reported on a Huffington Post article by a South African college student who suggested a denial of voting rights to white men would solve all the worlds problems.It turns out that article was likely written by someone inside the HuffPo to generate outrage AND a whole lot of clicks. It's a modern version of clickbait perpetrated by a news organization considered by most progressives to be "legitimate." While this types of blatant fraud are less common what has become common place is an agenda driven mainstream media where facts are far less important than playing to the hopes, fears, and emotions of the reader. Finding the truth in the 21st century is a struggle. Lucky for us there are still third party sites and rogue journalists who are doing good work but if big media and the government get their way they'll silence anyone without a platform big enough to be considered "legitimate."More discussion on this topic and a great example of crony capitalism today on the Jason Stapleton Program. You would have to go back in the JSP archive to find my discussion on the Libyan arms sales, but if you've been listening with any regularity, you might remember the name, Marc Turi. He's the government arms dealer who sold weapons to Qatar for the U.S. government. Those weapons were then transferred, sold, bartered to terrorist groups operating in Libya and later flowed into Syria, Iraq and possibly Turkey. It's a felony for anyone (including government officials) to sell or facilitate the sale of arms to groups classified as terrorist organizations. In short, the State Department and Hillary Clinton specifically sold guns to Qatar through Mr. Turi with the intention of sending those weapons to terrorist groups fighting Gadaffi in Libya. Once word got out about what Hillary and the State Department had done, they immediately went after Mr. Turi, charging him with four felonies. Turi fought the charges and yesterday the Department of Justice dropped all charges against Mr. Turi rather than take him to court and expose what he knows about the scandal. It's another case of Hillary avoiding the day of reckoning we all hope she'll see. *** I've also got some post-debate coverage from last night and some pretty scary news out of Russia. There's a lot of random news out today, all of it interesting. The recent floods in Louisiana and Texas have caused massive damage and displaced tens of thousands of people. Listening to Al Gore you'd think we'd never seen floods like this before. He claims these types of disasters are getting worse due to climate change. The truth, of course, is far less dramatic although no less tragic. While Gore complains about pretend problems, Ukrainians are worried about a very real, potential invasion of their western front by Russia. Russians are massing troops along the border and are scheduled to run training operations shortly. Rumblings from Ukraine suggest Russia may be planning for a full assault while using the training operation as a smoke screen. We'll also talk about the Clinton and Trump campaigns. Trump just had a major shakeup, hiring Stephen Bannon, who runs Breitbart, as his new campaign CEO. All this stuff and maybe some witty commentary today, on the Jason Stapleton Program. Student loan debt has doubled in the last eight years and with the economy not doing very well, Obamacare in the toilet, racial tension at new highs it's no wonder the White House is trying to clean up its legacy. A recent study released by said White House attempts to show how all this new student debt is a good thing for our economy. I call shenanigans. Debt can be a good thing if you're able to see clearly how that debt (investment) yields a return. Unfortunately, the verdict is out on college. But more importantly, the study ignores how government meddling inflates the real costs of college. I'm fired up today, be warned.
