The cross gave special recognition to Pyron, who served with distinction in Confederate campaigns in New Mexico and Louisiana before retiring to his ranch near the Alamo City after the war. Florida's role in the War Between the States is easily and often overlooked. She was third behind South Carolina and Mississippi to secede from the Union. While the battles fought on her soil never rose to the level of those farther north in the main theater of war, Florida's supply and defensive roles were critical to the Southern cause. As easily as these facts are forgotten, so too can brave and honorable men be forgotten if we allow them to be. One such man is Captain John Jackson Dickison, the Swamp Fox of the Confederacy. Tune in this week to learn more about this remarkable man and brilliant military strategist.

Civil war... in Heaven? When a country tears itself apart, we gather that something has gone horribly wrong. "Brother against brother" is a phrase that still echoes from our "War Between the States," a century-and-a-half ago. But civil war in Heaven? In Paradise? How could such a thing happen? Well, our instincts are correct: Something (rather, someone) went horribly wrong. We're studying angels! And one in particular, today. Gabriel Custodiet speaks with historian Tom DiLorenzo about his efforts to expose Abraham Lincoln. Pushing against the soft “saint-like” treatment that historians have granted Lincoln, DiLorenzo exposes Lincoln's totalitarian tendencies, his contribution to the birth of American fiat currency, his war crimes, among other reasons to have disdain for the lauded president. Ultimately DiLorenzo explains how court historians can twist our understanding of history, use this twisting to advance the ends of the status quo, and themselves alter the course of history.   GUEST → https://www.amazon.com/stores/Thomas-J.-DiLorenzo/author/B001IGOF0Q  → https://mises.org/profile/thomas-j-dilorenzo → https://www.lewrockwell.com/author/thomas-dilorenzo WATCHMAN PRIVACY → https://watchmanprivacy.com (Including privacy consulting) → https://twitter.com/watchmanprivacy → https://escapethetechnocracy.com/ CRYPTO DONATIONS →8829DiYwJ344peEM7SzUspMtgUWKAjGJRHmu4Q6R8kEWMpafiXPPNBkeRBhNPK6sw27urqqMYTWWXZrsX6BLRrj7HiooPAy (Monero) →https://btcpay0.voltageapp.io/apps/3JDQDSj2rp56KDffH5sSZL19J1Lh/pos (BTC) Timeline 00:00 – Introduction 1:23 – Problem with the phrase “Civil War” 3:25 – Myth of slavery motivations of War Between the States 6:50 – Alexis de Tocqueville said problem of race was worse in the North 11:30 – War crimes and scorched earth of the Union army 15:50 – Secession a perfectly American phenomenon 20:30 – Most outrageous attacks against DiLorenzo for attacking the Lincoln Cult 25:30 – How can freedom-seekers how to counter the will to power? 28:10 – How to NOT be a court historian 31:10 – Examples of anti-court historians 32:15 – How to define a “Yankee” 34:10 – Rapid fire 36:20 – Who benefits from inflation? 37:20 – Did Lincoln ultimately win in more ways than one? 38:00 – Final thoughts Music by Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio

Mark Levin Podcast The Best Of Mark Levin  Jun 08 2024   Other Episodes This week on the Mark Levin Show, the Democratic Party and their surrogates are cheering what is happening to Donald Trump because The Democratic party is the new Confederacy. The idea that Congress needed to pass a bipartisan border law to revive the existing law is a lie, and President Biden is a detestable low life and a dangerous man who uses the open border for power and profit. We were told over and over by Biden and people like Alejandro Mayorkas and Karine Jean-Pierre that our southern border was secure, which have all been lies. Biden is the arsonist who burned down our secure border created under Donald Trump, and now he is acting as the savior for finally enforcing our border laws. There is an argument that will be heard by Judge Aileen Cannon on whether the appointment of Jack Smith as special council was Constitutional. Smith is the most powerful prosecutor in the United States because AG Merrick Garland gave him that power without having the authority to do so.   Check out our ACU Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/ACUPodcast   --------------------------------------------------------------------    HELP ACU SPREAD THE WORD!  Please go to Apple Podcasts and give ACU a 5 star rating. He had intended to move on to another part of American history after that, but discovered he could not move on without studying Lee's subordinates in command, his lieutenants in the War Between the States. The result was this equally exhaustive three volume study of the command structure of the Army of Northern Virginia. Over 2,100 pages in length, and written in Freeman's usual novelistic prose, this stunning work brings the listener onto the battlefield and into the thoughts of those who lead the fight on the Confederate side.  This is a sweeping narrative, a multi-biographical study of those who fought the good fight. They won many victories, but suffered immense casualties and ultimate defeat. It is a story of death and destruction, heroism and stupidity, the characteristics that make great leadership and the flaws that make men mortal.  This is the full three volume work, in all its glory. Not an abridgment. Vol 1: Manassas to Malvern Hill Vol 2: Cedar Mountain to Chancellorsville  Vol 3: Gettysburg to Appomattox

Being a well-rounded person is a necessary part of learning to see the world as it is. Paul Rosenberg lays out the reasons why we should avoid clannish thinking. Looks like Tucker Carlson is getting his interview with Vladimir Putin after all. Why are so many politicians so afraid for an American journalist to talk to the Russian president? It shouldn't sound alarmist to urge as many people as possible to start producing more of their own food. As Brandon Smith explains, globalists will use carbon controls to stop us from growing our own food. You don't have to be conspiratorial to wonder about the incredible hold that sporting events like the Super Bowl have over the public. Are we witnessing the ultimate red herring to keep us distracted from the globalist agenda? It's really hard for me to drive by Civil War battlefields without stopping. I'm a history buff, and I like to stop at those things! Now, when I say Civil War, I might have to explain that to some of my friends, because if you grew up in the South, they say there was nothing civil about it. That's what my wife always told me. It was the War Between the States. At least that's what they taught my wife at school. One of the battlefields that I've driven by a lot is in New Market, Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. I've been there several times on other trips but I finally had the opportunity to stop and find out what went on there. It was a time of desperate days for the confederacy. I know there's a lot of controversy that goes on these days about some of the issues of the civil war but this is more about heroism and not so much about a specific cause. It was 1864, and Ulysses S. Grant was making an all-out push to try to take the Shenandoah Valley, and then Richmond, the capitol of the confederacy. And the Union Army had failed to do that five times. One part of the army was to move down the Shenandoah Valley, which is where New Market is. Now, General Breckinridge was in charge of some confederate troops. He was a former Vice President of the United States, believe it or not. He ordered the students from Virginia Military Institute (VMI) to march for three days and help resist the Union advance. They hadn't used students before to be in the army, but they were that desperate. There were a lot of teenagers in that army. They said, "They'll hear from the institute today." You know what? They did. At a very decisive moment in the battle, these kids charged into the Union lines and drove them back. The South won the battle that day at New Market. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Young People Leading the Charge." Our word for today from the Word of God comes from Acts 2:17. A very exciting verse. God says that the greatest spirit outpouring in history will take place just before Jesus comes back. We could be getting close to it now. Here's what it says: "In the last days I will pour out My Spirit on all people." Notice next who's in the lead in this great spiritual offensive. "Your sons and daughters will prophesy and your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams." You know what this sounds like to me? Young people will be helping to lead the last great Holy Spirit movement, with the older generation sharing their vision and cheering them on. Now, if you're young, it's time for you to step up to spiritual responsibility. You've been a taker long enough, drinking in all the Christian stuff. Isn't it time you became a giver? You've gone to the meetings. Now you need to get a mission, not just go to a lot of meetings. You need to be making a difference man! It's time for some young people who will commit themselves to tell about Jesus to the people who need to know Him in order to be in heaven with us. You need to get involved in some needs in your town. Don't make your life a "selfie" life. There's so many needs around. Go meet those needs in your town in Jesus' name. This isn't any time to be sitting around waiting for someone to entertain you. It's not all about going to a concert or a retreat or conference or Christian meeting. I mean, you'd be insulted if someone tried to get a babysitter for you at your age, right? You're too old to be spiritually "baby-sat." So don't wait for an adult to get young people praying. Why don't you get some praying going? Don't wait for an adult to plan an outreach. You do it. Don't wait for an adult to start a Christian club or to start a mission emphasis. You do it. If you're older than young, like I am, be sure you're doing all you can to create a climate and to create a church where young people are valued, trusted, and challenged. Over two-thirds of the people who ever come to Christ do it by the age of 18. The church has no more urgent priority mission than its' young people and the young people around your church who don't even know about Christ yet. So, if you're tuned in to the General's final strategy, you're either going to be a young person on the front lines or an older person encouraging young people to be in spiritual leadership. The most important spiritual battles in history could be shaping up right now, right before our eyes, and the outcome may very well be determined by young people leading the charge.

Welcome to the Fore Golfers Network/Michigan Golf Live Podcast Ep 403 - Alan Shipnuck - LIV And Let Die We welcome in best-selling author Alan Shipnuck to talk about the investigative work he invested into the writing of LIV and Let Die: The Inside Story of the War Between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf No journalist on the planet has taken a deeper dive into the origins, personalities, controversies, bizarre twists and turns, and soap opera dramatic moments in the formulation and fight for survival that accompanies LIV Golf and the PGA Tour's attempts to thwart mass defection. If you like "behind the scenes" stories, the latest from Shipnuck delivers big time. Alan Shipnuck, the New York Times bestselling author of Phil, returns with a major new work of insider reporting on the battle for the soul of professional golf between the PGA Tour and the Saudi-funded LIV Golf League. Over the past two years, professional golf has been at war, and Alan Shipnuck has been our most trusted correspondent on the front lines. Following closely on the heels of his bestselling sensation Phil, Shipnuck turns to the conflict that made Mickelson, and many other top golfers, villainous in the eyes of the public: LIV Golf's controversial—and belligerent—storming of the professional golf world. (LIV's unofficial motto, immortalized on hats gifted at a staff party: “F--k 'Em All.”) In LIV and Let Die, Shipnuck delivers the inside story in real time, with fly-on-the-wall reporting from the yachts where LIV was hatched and within the corridors of power as the PGA Tour flailed to fend off the threat. Shipnuck has traveled seamlessly between both tours—having countless conversations with players, caddies, CEOs, agents, financiers, lawyers, flaks, fans, and Instagramming wives—to deliver a no-holds-barred account of the most chaotic moment in golf history. Anyone who has a stake in professional golf lined up for an interview with Shipnuck—because they knew everyone else was talking to him, too. The disruption to an old, proud sport was largely conducted in the shadows, but LIV and Let Die delivers numerous revelations about what really happened, and why. Shipnuck's unparalleled access and award-winning reporting chops provide rich portraits of the brand names at the center of this sprawling tableau: Greg Norman, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Jay Monahan, His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Donald Trump, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Dustin (and Paulina!) Johnson, Pat (and Ashley!) Perez, Patrick (and Justine!) Reed, Bryson DeChambeau, Jimmy Dunne, and many more. Bankrolled by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, LIV Golf has upended the men's professional game with vast riches—blatant “sportswashing,” from the mouth of Mickelson himself. Says Brandel Chamblee, “I think the LIV players are in a morally indefensible position, with a willful blindness to the consequences of their action, making them complicit to the ongoing atrocities.” Rory McIlroy said of playing a tournament alongside LIV golfers, “It's going to be hard for me to stomach.” But the battle to thwart LIV revealed a deeper struggle within the game. “The Seminole guys, the Augusta National guys, they're used to having all the power in the golf world,” says LIV's Peter Uihlein. “They don't like to be challenged. They're not used to it.” The bitter feuding (and trolling) between the PGA loyalists and the LIV camp made the battle between the tours deeply personal—but for the top leaders of the two tours it was strictly business, and in a series of secret meetings they reshaped the future of the sport. LIV and Let Die provides the previously unknown background and crucial context to understand the armistice between the tours that shocked the world in June 2023. Long known as the most fearless writer on the golf beat, Shipnuck has delivered another hotly anticipated book packed with juicy nuggets and in-the-room-where-it-happened action...think Bob Woodward moonlighting on the sports desk. LIV and Let Die is the definitive account of the biggest (non-Tiger) golf story this century and a lively page-turner that in places reads like a spy thriller. ---------------- Subscribe to the FGN Podcast Watch FGN videos on YouTube Check out our other sports pod: Church Pew Sports TEXT or CALL (989) 272-2383 to share your thoughts, comments, suggestions, and questions

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: War Between the US and China: A case study for epistemic challenges around China-related catastrophic risk, published by Jordan Schneider on August 12, 2022 on The Effective Altruism Forum. TL;DR China has a critical role to play in addressing the 21st century's most pressing catastrophic risks. In particular, the risk of a US-China war in the coming decades is real (Metaculus gives 50/50 odds of a conflict with >100 deaths by 2050, and there's perhaps a 15% chance of a war of the scale we're considering for this post). A conventional conflict could cost over 2 billion life years in the combatant countries even before taking into account nuclear escalation. Even less horrific wartime scenarios would reduce global GDP by double digits and plunge perhaps 5% of the world's population back into extreme poverty. Analysis of modern China is very neglected relative to its scale. Only ~600 people in the United States conduct research on anything PRC-related for a living outside the US government. The US Intelligence Community does not have it covered, and a vanishing percentage of the 600 are oriented towards reducing catastrophic risk. Even more concerning is that the flow of researchers into the space has not increased even as US-China tensions have heightened (in fact, the early career talent pipeline is broken). Thankfully, there's a lot of low-hanging fruit! Funding Ideas include Money to increase the pool of early career jobs, including direct funding for early career positions at think tanks A survey that explores the state of research and talent challenges, culminating in a roadmap to improve the quality of US policy debate around China more oriented around catastrophic risks. Epistemic tools like a giant centralized repository of Chinese government documents and translation algorithms tuned for government documents Philanthropically-funded research organizations built off CSET's model that could inspire Congress to fund more impactful analysis Along with reducing the chances of a US-China war, an improved understanding of the PRC could prove invaluable for working on other catastrophic risks like AI safety and biosecurity. A Word from the Authors Jordan Schneider: I was the lead author of this report. For the past five years, I've run the ChinaTalk podcast and newsletter. I've interviewed more than 250 China-focused journalists, academics, and policymakers based outside of the PRC in recorded conversations for podcast episodes, and 150 more casual conversations. I have also worked for six years in the think tank field on China-focused work, spent two years in grad school in Beijing, and another two years in a macro-focused role at a hedge fund with significant investments in China. I have also interacted over a hundred students who have reached out to me for career advice. The claims that follow build off those conversations, my work experience, and countless hours reading China-focused academic literature as well as think tank and government reports. I have scoped this paper to focus specifically on great power war in the next fifty years as it's the topic where I have the deepest expertise. However, practically every major shortermist and longtermist risk area (biorisk, global economic growth prospects, space governance, geoengineering, AI safety) is intimately tied to China, plagued by the same analytical deficiencies in the English-speaking world, and could be served by interventions analogous to the ones proposed below. Pradyumna Prasad: I was the supporting author. I run the Bretton Goods blog and podcast, helped write the sections on estimating the mortality and economic costs of a US China war, and graduated high school last year. Summary What's the problem? In 1948, two years after Churchill made his Iron Curtain speech, the CIA had 12 Russian speakers on s...

In last week's “Hard Truth” podcast—David Vance, ilana Mercer and guest Jack Kerwick (introduced here https://rumble.com/v15a75f-tucker-cancels-gop-so-should-you-republicans-have-done-nothing-to-defend-yo.html) cancelled the Grand Old Party (GOP). And on good grounds. The Republican Party HAS never stood up for you, WILL never stand up for you and is NOT going to do what it takes. Past is prologue. As Dr. Boyd Cathey has observed (https://barelyablog.com/national-review-conservatism-as-ugly-as-the-promulgators/ ), the “party which never conserves anything” had been exposed as such as far back as 1875. “The great Southern author, Robert Lewis Dabney, writing a decade after the end of the War Between the States … expressed presciently this tendency of dominant, post-war Northern conservatism”: The history of the Republican Party is “that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation. What was the resisted novelty of yesterday is to-day one of the accepted principles of conservatism.” https://barelyablog.com/national-review-conservatism-as-ugly-as-the-promulgators/ Some questions, however, lingered. Were we and our guest, Dr. Kerwick, being too theoretically pure? Perhaps conservatives should just put up and shut up about the Only Game in Town? Succinctly put by a viewer and reader: “Yup! The Republicans suck. But the Democrats want to kill me.” https://www.unz.com/imercer/tucker-cancels-gop-so-should-you-republicans-have-done-nothing-to-defend-you/#comment-5350787 To that, David provided the perfectly plain answer, as is his wont. WATCH. So did Andrew Breitbart. WATCH AND SUBSCRIBE. David and ilana also get down to some "Monkey Business." Look, “Monkey Pox” is not a worry. All you have to do is avoid Biblically prohibited copulation. But beware! The Powers, however, do want to make “Monkey Pox” a lockdown affair. (Oh, last week, https://rumble.com/v15a75f-tucker-cancels-gop-so-should-you-republicans-have-done-nothing-to-defend-yo.html, ilana went with a woke aesthetic, as viewers of the “Hard Truth” podcast told her bluntly. So, no more unwashed hair on this May 26, 2022 “Hard Truth” episode. Ilana cleaned up "good," as they'd say in the South.)   DAVID VANCE is one of the most outspoken, fearless political commentators in the UK and bears the scars for it. Having been in front-line politics as Deputy Leader of the UK Unionist Party for some years, he was delighted to oppose the anti-democratic Belfast Agreement and the Clintonian-Blair forces behind that. He even wrote a book about it all called “Unionism Decayed” (2008). David has been a successful businessman for decades and prides himself on his independence. He has turned in stellar appearances on ALL mainstream UK political programs, before being … cancelled. He doesn't care! What followed however was extraordinary, and even world-changing. Athens became a democracy. Then just seventeen years after that, Athens and its tiny ally of Plataea defeated a raid by the mighty Persian Empire. The great century of Athenian glory had begun.Yet the history of Athens did not end with either Spartan victory in the Peloponnesian War, or with the supremacy of Macedon, or even with conquest by Rome. While never quite attaining its heights under Pericles, Athens was often important; and even when it was relatively unimportant, it always remained interesting. Season 3 Episode 8 Who Really Shot Abraham Lincoln at the Ford Theater? Bam!!! The other shot heard around the world. The Civil War in America had just ended, and all the major newspapers around the North and South began printing their stories. However, when the dust cleared enough to see, John Wilkes Booth was designated the fall guy of this historical event. Hello everyone, Sidney St. James here with my podcast on writing the Abraham Lincoln Assassination Series several years ago. Some of you have learned that I have got this niche of being able to go back in time "in my virtual time machine" and put myself in peoples' shoes. I did this many times in my genealogy studies and did this when I wrote the five-book series on the Lincoln Assassination. It was the evening of April 14, 1865. According to the Northern newspapers, the War Between the States had ended, and Washington City celebrated. President Abraham Lincoln entered the balcony at Ford's Theater to a standing ovation: a sign of a return to everyday life in America. The following morning, just a few minutes before 7:30, President Abe Lincoln was dead, and assassin J. Wilkes Booth became one of the, if not THE most, infamous figures in all U. S. history. But now, 157 years since the one-shot from a derringer pistol, conspiracy theories still abound in America. I suppose you can say it was one of the most egregious "fake news" cover-ups in all of American history. "What if I were to come right out and tell you John Wilkes Booth didn't fire the gun that killed President Lincoln? What if I was to say to you he actually died in Oklahoma many, many years later? What if I tell you the Secretary of War was secretly in on the plot to kill the President? What if I were to tell you the Catholic Church was knee-deep in all of it from the start? All these questions come from the writing of the actual court transcripts and autopsy reports, and other items of interest in a five-book series, "The Lincoln Assassination Series." Since going to college in my early days, I have been a historian. I love history, either from the Bible or our own American History. Although I majored in History at A&M for a few semesters, I graduated without a degree in that field, but I still remain very interested in the Assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. My 5-book series, which would be 6 books, began at President Lincoln's bedside when he passed away on April 15, 1865, at 7:22 in the morning. I know you might go out and find that there is not a sixth novel. This is because I elected to not write the one on the conspiracy theories. However, I will say there is much evidence in all the digital archives that will make you think that there was more to only one man pulling the trigger on a single-shot derringer pistol! In my review of the piles of digital archives when investigating the President's death and going over eyewitness reports to write the original five novels, there are actually pieces of this evidence that going reveals a "secret shooter" and cover-up that stretches from Washington City all the way to the Catholic Church. So, thank's for joining me today as I discuss briefly the many areas that don't make sense… there's still more to the story! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sidneystjames/message
