In 1949 Jean Spangler was a star on the rise, only in her late 20's she was already a triple threat and seemed to be gaining more recognition for her many talents. All that changed when Jean didn't return home the morning after shooting for a new film all night. As investigations began, more and more questions are raised with very few answers. Tune in as we unravel all the details, from theories and suspects, to the possible connection to another famous Hollywood murder. Jean Spangler, an aspiring actress in Hollywood, vanished on the evening of October 7, 1949. She was last seen leaving her home in Los Angeles, telling her sister-in-law she was going to meet her ex-husband, Dexter Benner, to discuss a child support payment before heading to a film set. However, she never returned home. Despite extensive investigations, no conclusive evidence was found, and Jean's fate remains a mystery. Various theories have been proposed, including a botched abortion, involvement with gangsters, and connections to the infamous Black Dahlia case, but none have been substantiated and to this day, her case remains unsolved. IT'S OUR 100th EPISODE!! In 1949, aspiring actress Jean Spangler would leave her home for the evening and never return. With few clues and far too few suspects, this case continues to baffle to this day. Was it her Ex Husband? The Mob? Or this mysterious Kurt mentioned in a note found in her purse. In this week's episode Sandra talks about the case of Haley Zega. On April 29th at the age of six, Haley Zega was on a hike with her grandparents in the Ozark National Forest. The trail surrounds the Buffalo National River. What started out as a normal hike turned into a nightmare for her entire family. She was found two days later on May 1st. Sandra tells the story of what Haley experienced during those fifty-two hours that Haley was missing. Later, Danielle covers the disappearance of Jean Spangler. An aspiring actress in Hollywood with a young daughter and a frustrated ex-husband. Her purse with a broken handle was found at one of the entrances to Griffith Park. A note was found inside her purse which mentioned a Kirk. Perhaps the same famed actor, Kirk Douglas, who Jean acted alongside in a film? Jean Spangler was a triple threat in Hollywood, she could sing, she could dance, and she could act. She was an up-and-coming actress who was working hard to make her way in her career while raising her daughter as a single mother. On October 7th, 1949, Jean disappeared. She was last seen at the Farmer's Market near The Grove and her purse was found at the entrance of Griffith Park on Fern Dell Drive with a note inside that led police to question Hollywood heartthrob Kirk Douglas about the woman's disappearance.

Apparently, the star collected videotapes and photographs of his various sexual liaisons with women. 3. Jean Spangler On October 7, 1949, Jean Spangler, a beautiful 26-year old dancer, model and bit part actress mysteriously disappeared. Jean was a divorcee who had one child. She left her daughter in the care of her sister-in-law before heading out saying she had to go work on set. However, when she didn't come back the following day, her sister-in-law phoned authorites. When police began the investigation, they discovered that the last person to see her was a store clerk who distinctly remembered her, but After that, they couldn't find a single trace of her. 2. Peter Ivers Best known as an experimental musician, Peter Ivers may not be as well known today but if you were a fan of a show called "New Wave Theatre" in the 80’s then you might have heard of him. His show was a platform for bands like Fear and The Dead Kennedy's. More than a host, Ivers was also a musician. He was a gifted harmonica player and even scored David Lynch's cult classic "Eraserhead." Later on, he opened for Fleetwood Mac and dated film producer, Lucy Fisher, who supervised on films like Jerry Maguire and Men in Black. 1. Jimi Hendrix Michael Jeffery isn't a household name but he was associated with one of the most famous musician that has ever lived – Jimi Hendrix, and Jefferies’ was his manager. And now some say that he was actually directly responsible for the late rockers death. Jeffery was best known in the business for first handling the group The Animals. Even though they gained plenty of success, the band ultimately blamed Jeffery for their demise and breakup. They accused him of overworking them and appropriating their earnings. In June 1949, more than a year after the Kern murder, another body was found. Louise Springer, a successful young hairdresser, was carjacked in a parking lot on Crenshaw Boulevard, just five blocks from the site at 39th and Norton where Elizabeth Short’s body had been dumped two and a half years earlier. Four days later, Louise’s body was found in the back seat of her car, which had been abandoned on a downtown side street. The manhunt that ensued was the largest in the city since the Black Dahlia investigation. While the search continued, the first of two women went missing. Emily Boomhower, a wealthy widow, disappeared from her Bel Air mansion on August 18, 1949.
