Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we explore some of cinema's biggest box office failures and decide if they deserve a second chance. To launch Listener Request Month, agents Troy and Brad were handed a covert mission: select a spy flick. Their choice? The Avengers. But hold your horses, this isn't that Avengers. No capes, no superheroes—just the 1998 version. A tangled mess of a film, so baffling it left everyone scratching their heads. Jeremiah S. Chechik, the director, well... let's just say, after this disaster, he found himself locked up in movie prison. Tune in as the boys unravel the chaos, question if any pair of leads has ever shared less chemistry, and wonder why in the world you'd hire Eddie Izzard… and not let her talk. The Avengers, directed by Jeremiah S. Chechik, stars Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, Sean Connery, and Jim Broadbent. Not A Bomb has just unveiled new designs in our Merch store! We're thrilled to share these with you.

It’s that time, Christmas time is here, and it’s time to look at a film that is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2019. A film that has been labelled as a modern Christmas classic – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Let’s rewind to 1989 to Jeremiah S. Chechik’s directed Christmas Vacation which is the third instalment in National Lampoon’s Vacation series, and was written by John Hughes, based on his short story in National Lampoon magazine, “Christmas ‘59”. As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tried to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things don’t go to plan, with the extended family rolling in – and Clark’s hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid) and his family showing up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. And with dreams of putting in a pool, Clark desperately waits for his Christmas bonus which still hasn’t arrived.

Brendan and Jason took a break from the dice roll this week to discuss a film that has them flabbergasted... that it never made the BFI Top 100. The guys discuss Jeremiah S. Chechik's masterpiece in 1998's The Avengers. They discuss what Shakespearean anecdote from the film is their favourite, Uma Thurman's rigorous studying with her dialect coach, the amazing work by the background extras in the final scenes and much more.   Plus: The guys will get back on track with the list with next week's episode on This Sporting Life (as rolled during the previous episode).   Full List: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BFI_Top_100_British_films   Facebook: www.facebook.com/forscreenandcountry Twitter: www.twitter.com/bfi_pod   Our logo was designed by the wonderful Mariah Lirette (www.instagram.com/mariahhx)
