In this month's podcast, Helen is joined by Jeremy Todd, Head of Research & Insight at Air New Zealand, Trish Roberts, Experience Management Director, and Tom Magill, Associate Director of Ipsos New Zealand. This episode celebrates the success of the Air New Zealand CX programme, delivered by Ipsos with Medallia. At the 2024 Research Association Awards NZ, our exceptional Ipsos team won the 'Most Effective Agency' award among 10 nominations, winning in 7 awards. Alongside Air New Zealand, we jointly received the Gold Award. Tune in to learn about the award and discover the insights from our experience of how the teams collaborated to deliver an impactful CX programme. Air New Zealand, one of the nation's most loved brands, identified Customer Experience as the Number 1 driver of Corporate Reputation. The challenges brought on by COVID-19 grounded airlines, and when the world began to reopen, customer expectations rebounded to pre-COVID levels, while the airline was still rebuilding. Performance scores were not meeting the anticipated standards. The Ipsos team was commissioned to "look under the hood" of the programme at the wealth of data collected, to pinpoint exactly where the business needs to invest to meet and exceed expectations, ensuring the maintenance of their loyal customer base. Our Global data science and analytics team modelled the data to identify the key drivers of the experience and developed a simulator to demonstrate the Return on CX Investment (ROCXI) if changes were implemented. This shifted the research from a retrospective view to a forward-focused, fact-based programme that identified where Experience Design investments were required. Tune in to discover how the team designed an award-winning programme which tuned into stakeholders' needs to reorient the business around the customer once again.#ipsos #airnewzealand #cx #medallia #researchassociationNZ

Brian Nichols and Jeremy Todd reveal the conversational landmines libertarians should avoid if they want productive discussion. In this info-packed episode, Brian and Jeremy analyze the topics actually coming up around real holiday dinner tables. Beyond expected fare like the economy and 2024 candidates, they note rising discussion of crime rates and immigration policy. Tackling the realities behind these hot-button issues, they explain why rational debate often falls flat and how to foster true dialogues. Jeremy stresses stopping reflexive arguments that entrench people deeper in their views. He advocates asking gentle questions to understand others' mindsets before countering them. Learn tips like finding common ground, however small, ensuring those opposed still like you, and guiding people to arrive at their own conclusions. Shifting to libertarian solutions, Brian and Jeremy admit the Libertarian Party faces real voter skepticism and ballots stacked against it. Still, they share smart strategies for demonstrating the tangible impact of protest votes. These steps offer disenchanted citizens meaningful options for registering discontent while keeping alternative parties viable. Local-level activism emerges as the clearest path forward. Jeremy discloses how shockingly easy and impactful running for city council or county chair roles can be. Saw a great post from my friend Jeremy Todd, which asked the question, "What do you remember from your Grandparent's house?"  That got me thinking of some really awesome memories of my grandparent's house in Batavia, NY.    It also got me thinking not only how lucky I am to be able to think about those memories, but also how important it is to take a few minutes to take the time to think about the memories.   It's part of who I am.  It's part of my family's history.  I came away from that experience reminding myself how special my family was / is, and I need to keep doing my best to live my best life possible.

Brandon Handley 0:00 What is going on spiritual dope? A number Have you probably already got this message probably already saw, some of you may have skimmed it and didn't finish it. I know that a meg, she might have, she might have finished reading it after I left she said she would. But uh, so here's the deal, I shot out an email. After this weekend, I had just gotten done reading a book titled, the tools, the tools is five tools to help you find courage, creativity, and willpower and inspire you to live life in forward motion. I honestly I don't even know why I have this book. I know that I picked it up because it was referenced in another book. And that's just kind of how I am I will be reading a book and somebody will reference some material and said book, and I'll go to Amazon, and I'll grab it because I trust that person's reference. Before we get to that, though, that really No, the other piece of this was I interviewed a guy named Jonathan Potter, he's going to be coming on at some point in the year, I've got a number of awesome podcasts that have already been recorded for your listening pleasure. And what one of the things that he had was this story. And I put this in an email. And the line really starts like this, the line says doesn't ask doesn't get right, Jonathan been working for one of the top five global consulting corporations in the world. And he was a nervous new consultant was working with his mentor, and the economy was a shitstorm. And he goes, they had, they had to put a presentation in front of their customer. And it was $20 million. It's like, Wow, that's pretty, that's pretty, pretty bold. Right? And his, his mentor says to him, says, hey, you know, don't ask, don't get, and they ended up winning this contract. Right? Even though and yes, and on top of on top of the economy, being shitty, and all these other things. They weren't even doing a good job at that point. And the situation that they were in, according to the story. So, you know, I've been thinking, I'd been thinking about making the email that I sent out yesterday, holy based on that story. And I just hadn't done it yet. hadn't done it yet. And so I had been reading the story was reading the book, the tools. And in the tools, the first tool that they have in there, that's called it is called the reversal of desire, then essentially, though, what is teaching you is that how often you stay in your comfort zone. I think that if you've been listening to this podcast, or if you've been in these circles, for any period of time, everybody talks about, you got to get out of your comfort zone. So you've got to get out of your comfort zone. Because there's there's no growth, really inside that comfort zone. If you stay in the comfort zone, you stay small. And you stay small, you don't you don't live the life that you truly desire. And oftentimes, you don't live the life that truly be fit you. And you're missing out on your opportunity to experience your own greatness. And I think that there's gonna there's a lot of turmoil when you whenever you say to people, talk to them about their greatness, Nate, they think that, you know, it means like superheroes, shit and some other stuff, but really just means to tap into your source inside of yourself and to, you know, kind of feel the thrill of living your life as it was intended. So they talk about, you know, living in your comfort zone, they talk about this pain wall. And they talk about the stories that we kind of make up or the things that we allow for ourselves to get into this pain wall, the sanding in between us. And everything that we truly kind of desire all of these limitless opportunities. And just made me think right just made me think about this notes. Maybe think about the email that I sent out this weekend that said, hey, doesn't ask us and get and also brought to mind of all the people that have been on the podcast, I've got several people that have been on the podcast immediately. Right after they write off they've been on no matter what they just start adding me to their email. They're right this time. I'm like, wow, I didn't I didn't even sign up to be on an email or I signed up so that you could tell your story on my blog. But okay, you know, so I'm often impressed with their boldness. Right? To be so bold to just add me to your list we just met bro. Right? And I talked an email about these other people that they sent me emails all of the target, some people email upwards of five times a day. And they're still on my list. I still haven't unsubscribed. And the reason for that is that I always feel like there's something in there, I can read from there, you know, like, I take something away from their emails, I'm like, wow, this person is pretty, pretty, pretty freakin bold. And they're gonna keep sending me emails, like, what are they selling? What are they? How are they selling? What kind of marketing are they using, so I, I enjoy that. But the truth of the matter is, is that I've been holding myself back and I hadn't been emailing, and I wasn't facing my own pains, I was living in my own small circle. And so I faced it. And using this tool called the reversal desire, you know, it leveraging kind of that pain as the motivator and as a driving force to get myself into this land of limitless opportunity. And they kind of remind you in the story that they're telling and the tool, that there's going to be pain in your life. And we're not talking about doing it on purpose so that you're always in pain and pain is growth. That's not it. There's no there's going to be some type of pain that is associated initially with a lot of things. And the thing that comes to my mind is in sales and rejection. Right? still afraid of rejection? I don't want to be rejected. I don't want to come across as like an idiot, you know? And that and I called myself out in my own email, and I said, You know what this is this is me. I was like, I was afraid of rejection. I was afraid like, maybe one person drops off the list. Well, maybe one person says, I'm not interested in what you're saying here. And I was like, that's, you know, that's me holding myself back. That's me being afraid. That's me. Not doing the work, whatever you whatever that is right. And so I did it. And a shout out this email. And it this is like a great weight lifted off of kind of facing your own fears. There is a great line from my girl, Florence Scovel Shinn, she has long since passed. And I'm looking at it up right now this he Florence Scovel, Shinn, Airedale, Airedale, it's a type of dog. Let's see if I can spell it correctly. She talks about for me, I walk boldly up to the line, I walk boldly up to the line on my pathway and find it as a friendly Airedale. And what she's saying there's this very same, really the similar thing that we're talking about, like this email, or, you know, sometimes, sometimes your pain or sometimes your, whatever it is that you're afraid of. It looks larger from further away for some reason. And the closer that you get to it closer that you get to your pain, the smaller it becomes. Right, you start you start getting rid of the stories and you just you begin to realize that there's an outcome that you're looking for there's and if you can get past it, you can leave it or you can drop it. Right, I finally, it's like all those open tabs. I finally shut it down. I shut down this tab that had been open for so long. I felt lighter because of it. And this with Florence Scovel Shinn is saying to when she talks about, you know, walking up to your line and walk up to a friendly Airedale, which is some type of dog. What. And I brought this, I brought all of this into the breathwork session that I did yesterday as well, working with the group that I've been working with, we've been working on, hey, what are you trying to create in your life? And what's stopping you from creating that and then pulling this tool into the prep work and leveraging it so super exciting, to be able to kind of put all these things that you're you're learning together? I know, that's what I've been doing. I've been pulling different modalities together, trying to assemble them in different ways, different tools for different people, and put it all together and you know, again, doesn't ask doesn't get so I sent out the email what was asking for? I was asking for people to go ahead and say, hey, if you've been checking out this podcast if you've been a part of this community, if you're a listener if you've been a guest I love it if you could go ahead and if you could leave a review I said, Hey, you know this guy, Rick, Rick, silence teaches Rick was on contemplation. He said, Hey, host ask powerful questions that made me seriously reflect on why I do what I do. This made the show very helpful for his community. Or perhaps you're a longtime listener, and you have 1000 wisdom and had some moments of inspiration. And feel like you're part of the community like my boy, Jeremy Todd of the positive side podcast. He says, Hey, I needed this podcast, I cannot believe I found this podcast, I've been looking for a podcast that is on a different level. This show gives me insight about life dreams, and what is my purpose? Thank you, Brandon, for this podcast. And so I set out how to do it, I can leave some of those links on this podcast as well. The kind of the key takeaways here, if you're listening, and you're still hanging out, is, you know, face some of your fears and face, face some of your pain and leverage that pain is the kind of catalyst and realize that that's just energy to write that's just energy shaped in the form of thinking, the way God I thought about wonderful entire wonder, Wonder Twin powers unite right in the shape of pain, energy in the shape of pain, and you can reshape and leverage that energy to help build you forward momentum to get yourself into the things that you actually want. And one of those things and oftentimes is asking the question, in the sales world, where I live, if you don't ask for the PEO, if you don't ask for that purchase order. If you don't ask for the sale, if I don't ask for these, then I might not get them. And whose fault is it then? Right? Whose fault is it then if somebody doesn't know what I'm asking for because I don't voice it, then that's all me. That's my own fear of letting things get in my own way of what I actually want. Because I am afraid and, you know, it doesn't have to be that way. And once you kind of get through that, again, there's just like, it's a tremendous that's your greatness you, you get in touch with your greatness. It might sound scary, but you get in touch with your greatness. You feel powerful, you feel liberated. And you feel like you can achieve so much more after you get past some of those. So hopefully that's helpful for you check out the links on this podcast. If you'd like to go leave some of your own reviews. Thank you for anybody who has been participating in the breathwork and has been having some just tremendous. It's been having a tremendous impact. I've got a couple of great breathwork facilitators lined up for you one of them will be Neeraj Naik of the creator of the summer breathwork. Brandon Handley 0:01 breaker breaker one nine or what's up spiritual note, Brandon Handley here the voice of a generation, my buddy, Jeremy Todd just just released a podcast with with another one of our mutual friends, Donnie Tuttle. And I thought that was pretty cool simply because, you know, if I recall, I think I introduced those guys, and I got them together. But uh, you know, by way of another mutual friend, it's just funny to see how relationships expand. And it's funny to see where relationships go. And that's not why I pulled over here today, just to just record a quick podcast just to kind of catch up and kind of what's on the, in the top of mind kind of stuff, how to calm another conversation this morning. With with a gentleman who I'm planning on having on the podcast, he does mediumship. But it doesn't. That's not where it stops, right? Really, it's the self discovery journey. And part of that self discovery journey. That's such a challenge, I believe to talk about with guests and kind of in particular, and what does it mean to you? is, you know, what does it look like? What's the context? And how does somebody get there? And a lot of times, the conversations are pretty, I guess, nebulous. And so this year, on ton of problems that a couple times, it's on the way it is happening. I've got these little containers, where I'm putting different pieces of spirituality, I think they all essentially, look the same. Right? The journey is kind of the same, it's just described in a different way. If you look at the the hero's journey, I think Joseph Campbell's really captured it very well. But it's just gonna look and feel different for each person and each person, it's gonna shine their own light on it. You know? And when I say it's the same, I say, you know, I'm just trying to think I'm sitting to think about what what can you shine a light on? And what's that look like? I'm always thinking about crystals that hang from somebody's mirror. I remember growing up as a kid, my mom had those on there, rainbows will always be shining through these quartz crystals that were hanging from the rearview mirror. But there's a number of different crystals. And so when I say these stories are the same, like that's the same as saying like, all crystals are the same. They have a similar structure. Right? But on the outside, they look different but the inside they have a similar structure, Crystal and structure, right? That's what makes them crystals. So yeah, this guy's told me a story. And I said, Yeah, I get it, man. Your story. It's, it's, and not to make somebody not feel important or you know, it's a wonderful story. But it's the story of self evolution. It's the story of Self Realization, actualization, those. Those are the words that we want to use. We don't want to use the words in my opinion. Evolution, you've already evolved. Tada, you're already fucking there. Full stop you already there. It's a the whole Buddhist thing. Everyone's a Buddha. Just you've got to realize and recognize and become aware of your Buddha nature. This is what he was saying. He was talking about just the awareness of the truth of who you are. This is in Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The top of the pyramid is not, hey, I'm fully fucking satisfied. It's realization, self actualization. Right. Who's a yogi? She's Autobiography of a Yogi, right? What's the name his foundation? It's SFR is self you know, CSRF Self Realization foundation. Right? These journeys that we spent so much time on, out on the external. Most of most of your life has been focused on the external journey and this includes his or her as breathwork would have it as a tie in here, and the work that I've been doing, as breathwork would have it. That journey has been 98% external, your journey 98% of it external? How do you look? How do you how do you appear to others? What is your job on the outside? What are what are all these things? And you what can you get? That's the external journey. And it's a limited finite journey. And I don't know, it's cool, don't get me wrong, Ben the cool places done cool things, I'm sure you have to show you've done amazing shit. You don't seen some cool shit. But the internal journey has been like severely lacking. And that's that journey to the center of the self, right? How many licks does it take to get to the center tootsie pop kind of thing. And it all it all depends, and everybody's journey is gonna be different. It's gonna be, it's 100% subjective. They're gonna see it, and only the way they can see it. They're the only ones that can go on that journey. But the process and the journey is pretty much the same for everybody. Right. And so what I'm excited about having that gentleman on is that he does a really good job describing the journey, kind of what it looks like, in the brief conversation that he and I had, he described it very well, you know, kind of his job is to kind of get you to recognize the truth of who you are. And there's, there's unknowingness that comes along with that. And I don't have the book in front of me right now. But it's another one of the books I'm going through that's breeding, you know, I don't know, some sell fucking Heelan book or whatever breeds eel. It's actually really good. But you know, if you come to my house right now, there's like no breeding, you know, healing books and chakra books and self alignment and all this other stuff. And a lot of it's science based, but there's also this, this aspect of mysticism, this mystery that surrounds it, when there's not a whole lot of mystery, it's just you got to have that experience for yourself kind of thing. Right? The experience of riding a bike can only really be conveyed by riding the bike, you know, now, if you've ridden a bike, what that feels like, somebody describes it to you, you're like, oh, yeah, that's, that's sounds like riding a fucking bike. Right? And you won't know until you've had some of these other experiences. What it feels like, until you have the experience, you won't understand somebody describing them until you've had the experiences. Right? And then you kind of recognize like, yeah, oh, wow. Yep. Yep. Nailed it. Nailed it. Nailed it. Stuck the landing on that one. And you know, this, this, this, this knowingness also comes in, in the breath work, it comes in other I think other things as well. Any kind of activities that you're trying to, to do. And I think of breath work. And I think of jujitsu. And you can think of I think just about anything where you've been trying to you've been trying to nail something, it's not until you do it. And you're like that, that was it. That was I just did the thing. And I just, I think of algebra all the time in this. Just solve the fucking equation. The light goes on, you're like, oh, shit, that was it. That was so easy. And you look back. And you can't you it's so hard to go back. Because now you've got like, this knowledge of the thing. And you can't it's like, you know, it's like going to the fucking matrix. You can't go back. Right? You're like, oh, no, I've always always been here. It's always been like this. And the truth of the matter is yes, it has always been like this. It's just your awareness of it hasn't been there, right? Your capability to do the thing always exists. And, you know, it's just you've got to enable it and activate it right? Self activation is the other thing that you see thrown out a lot. Anyways, the journeys, it's, it's the structure is pretty much the same for everybody. The story gets told pretty much the same, same elements of the story for everybody. But, you know, it's a little bit different and how somebody sees the story and tells the story and what the specifics were. So I guess you could say that the framework or the outlines pretty much the same and you're going to be able to find like the these specific elements in everybody's story, they're almost all going to be in almost the same order. But just a different different journey. So I guess that's what I kind of pulled over. So I just wanted to get something out there and have a conversation. I know, I haven't, you know, I guess I'm Jones and a little bit on my, on the podcast interviews, I've got some new resources to reach out to some people, I've got some people lined up. Another big shout out to, you know, again, I called out Jeremy Todd, and Donnie, because those are a couple guys that, you know, when I think of the beginning of this podcast journey, Jeremy Todd was my number, I think he might have been my first guest. And when I go back to thinking about how he was, he was trying to figure out his microphone and how I was trying to figure out recording it and what a shit yo was. But um, you know, he's, he's, he's ranked up there very high. And I'm super happy with my podcast, and I'm just excited to kind of be here, doing this journey, sharing the stories. And, you know, hopefully helping you to find your, you know, inner bliss, your inner joy, your, you know, being there with you on your journey. As I go all the way back to the beginning of this of spiritual dope. And I think about the whole idea of, you know, when you're on your, your journey, when you when you believe that there's something greater than, you know, kind of like your immediate surroundings, but you're, you're looking for ways to validate it and, and, and somewhere along the lines, you validate it or you feel like you validated it, and then you're like, oh, shade have I just crossed the edge does this go over the border? My fucking crazy now? No, you know, you're, you're, you're experiencing yourself and you're, you're experiencing, you know, this, this ultimate connection, Journey to the Center of you. And, you know, for lack of better terminology, the journey is the center of the universe. And so that's what we're here for. That's what we're doing. Happy to have you here. And we'll catch up at some other time. Transcribed by https://otter.ai
