Bobby’s Birthday (The NYC Session)   I had some surgery done on my elbow and arm and was out for a few weeks. I eventually came back to check how my last podcast was faring and … lo and behold realized it had 11K+ downloads!   I am every happy about it! 2013 May "En Mai fais ce qu'il te plaît!" French Proverb which literally means " In May do what pleases you"..  Today is my birthday and I am stuck at home with a massive head cold.. Thought I would give myself a little present and put together a set JUST FOR ME...  A collection of deep, cookie, eclectic tunes, which I would hate to forget and lose in the dark recesses of my hard drive because they do not fit the strict format of Deep, Soulful, Progressive of this podcast. So here it is, jams I like, sounds I want to be able to access in the distant future, tracks that may not have the vocal hooks I love, yet trigger emotions at a complete different level. Edgy track with an acid tinge.. “Pieces” Flashmob is becoming bigger by the day.. and I love the acapella with the brit accent.. Another edgy track, which may really push your limits. “New York Style” Jerk House Connection French and really good.. I love the NY feel, I love the reggae vocals.. and it stays melodic. “Be Right There”.. Current, modern, hatched beats had to included a bit of Jackin’ House in this set.. “All I Have Is Love” continuing the darker NY feel with a greek remixer Elias Tzikas. “Let It Go” Deep Tech House at its very best.. I wanted a wake up track with a nice groove at this moment in the set.. This came up.. “What you need” now in the back part of the set, introducing a bit a bit of funk and sugar.. “Another Way” another Golf Clap track with Grant Nelson’s giving it a UK feel.. If you have stayed with me so far, you are starting to have fun!! “My Urban Soul”.. Roland Clark, Urban Soul.. Bringing you down but how can I resist… “The Whistle Song” Frankie Knuckles seminal classic gets the Supernova remix treatment. **WARNING NOT FOR MINORS ** Deep in my kind of Groove A few months ago this podcast was selected (as part of a random sample of online music), for a doctoral study by the Musicology Dept of UMich. Amongst the "open" questions I was asked was the following one: " Are there any of your sets you would like to make public but haven't due to self-censorship or fear that your target audience will not be interested?" Got me thinking.. This set is an example of what I would not have normaly published.. Yet.. it is MY KIND OF GROOVE.. It has a bit of sugar, a bit on underground house, great deep meaningful tunes and a dash of indie/house and lots of vocal samples. By "my kind of groove" I do not infer that this music is "better" or anything of the sort.. Just that it is "my kind of Groove.." **WARNING NOT FOR MINORS ** Before I get any messages and/or rantings on promotings drugs, let me make the following crystal clear: I do not condone drugs, prescribed or illegal. Drugs f@ck up people. As to marijuana in particular, the research is there for everyone to make the educated clever choice. There is a clear correlation between Marijuana and psychotic episodes on younger not fully formed brains. This is not an inference, but a statiscally significant correlation between usage and mental health in 15 to 25 y.o. Since the research cannot identify the genetic cluster, using Dope puts young minds at risk as no one knows if he/she may or may not be affected.  So DRUGS NOT MY KIND OF GROOVE AT ALL... MUSIC YES! This being said why did I use the 50's samples? Because this mix is, as said in the Intro, what I had mixed but never wanted to publickly upload.. And if you follow me, you know that I have a HUGE weakness for vocal samples.. Be it cinematic or doctoral lectures etc.. And I was not going to sit on this sample forever!! New deep house mix, a bit darker this time with louder beats and vocal with french sound from from Claude Monnet's back to fundamental project. Some Kerri Chandler & Sydenham sound for the soulful touch then I got more housey with some big Ibiza sound (Yass, sandy riveira). After a jackin track (Duck fat) I got deeper with tiger stripes and the killer tune from Ame - Setsa. At last I cooled things down with some smooth deep instrumental house, great tracks from Rythm of Elements and Tyrone Francis teamed with Abicah Soul. A little technical problem after blak, sorry.Hope you enjoy this mix ! Please comment if you like it (or not) thanks.Un nouveau set en ligne, plus dark et deep cette fois ci. J'ai commencé lentement avec le remix de Rocco de Each and everyday, très beau mais assez triste. Le So far away, partie du projet de Claude Monnet B2Fundamentals est aussi dans la même veine. Je suis toujours resté sur les vocaux féminins assez dark avec un morceau qui tape un peu plus, superbe remix de Charles Webster des Fish go deep. Ensuite j'ai quand même joué un peu souful avec un énoooorme Kerri Chandler, fidèle à lui même, des basses rondes, généreuses et chaudes. Un vocal qui va bien et ça roule !Après on s'énerve un peu avec Jérome Sydenham, un bon remix de David Crops, et j'ai embrayé sur un son plus Ibiza main room avec entre autres du Yass, ponctué par un Jovonn fantastique, quel vocal...Ensuite une fois n'est pas coutume, en transition un track jackin' house (j'en joue rarement) et je suis parti plus deep, avec Tiger Stripes et surtout le morceau énorme de Ame, Setsa.Enfin j'ai terminé sur une session deep et instrumentale très cool. J'adore le mood du morceau de Rhythm of Element, et le Tyrone Francis - Blak. J'étais tellement dedans que j'ai raté l'enchainement suivant !
