Our inner critic often suggests that it's acceptable to grieve significant losses, but we should just push through everyday heartaches like workplace rejections, feeling disconnected in our relationships, being ignored by friends, or being stuck in a job that doesn't fulfill us. Christina Rasmussen, my guest, emphasizes the importance of recognizing and processing this often overlooked type of grief. In our conversation, she will illuminate these lesser-known forms of grief, helping us heal and find a sense of peace and hope in our lives. Christina Rasmussen is an acclaimed grief educator and bestselling author of "Second Firsts," "Where Did You Go?" and "Invisible Loss." Her impactful grief work has been featured on ABC News, Psychology Today, in Women's World, the Washington Post, and the White House Blog. Christina created the Life Reentry process, which launched her on a mission to bring compassion, grace, and validation to thousands while simultaneously establishing an exit from what she termed the Waiting Room. During our conversation, Christina and I explored different aspects of invisible losses, discussing their origins and the transformative power of shifting one's mindset. We talked about letting go of shame and guilt, allowing one to rediscover one's true self. This shift in perspective can bring hope and inspiration to our lives.
I don't know about you, but I've learned that New Year's resolutions don't work well for me. Eat healthier, exercise more, and have more gratitude—those are the usual go-to's. Maybe it's my Midwestern stubbornness that makes me think, “Don't tell me what to do!” so I end up doing the opposite—eating more sugar, sleeping in instead of going for a run, and complaining more than feeling grateful. It's embarrassing to admit, but it's true. What I've found that works for me is to choose a word for the year, one that will guide me toward more adventure, joy, and truth. This year, my word is love.Today's guest on the Cracking Open podcast, Christina Rasmussen, embodies this word beautifully in her work, relationships, and teachings.Widowed at a young age, Christina was left managing the devastating loss of her partner while also raising their baby and toddler on her own. Initially, all Christina wanted to do was run away from her pain as far as possible, despite her master's degree in guidance and counseling. Four years after her 35-year-old husband passed away from Stage 4 colon cancer, she finally found the courage to confront her grief and created the Life Reentry process, which launched her on a mission to bring compassion, grace, and validation to thousands, while simultaneously establishing an exit from what she termed the Waiting Room.Christina has also published three bestselling books: Second Firsts in 2013, Where Did You Go? in 2018, and her most recent book published in 2024 - Invisible Loss. In this episode, you'll feel the love and wisdom Christina brings as she discusses the concept of “invisible losses”—experiences that are completely devastating yet often difficult to articulate. These losses can sometimes be more perplexing and challenging to navigate than the overt tragedies we face.Christina shares how to honor our invisible losses, using writing exercises she calls “cleanses” to move out of the “Waiting Room”—that place of uncertainty where we feel disconnected from our true selves. We also dive into identifying invisible losses and the three inner narratives we create as we process them: the survivor, the watcher, and the thrive. This episode is full of actionable tips and tools for navigating grief and honoring all the moments that crack us open in life. Christina reminds us that love is the best medicine—not just to heal grief but to embrace any experience that helps us grow.Christina is currently finishing her Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing at the Academy of Art University. Her work on grief has been featured in The Guardian, Oprah Daily, ABC News, Women's World, The Washington Post, and the White House Blog. When we experience significant loss, we often get stuck in a transitional "waiting room" between our past and potential future, and true healing involves reclaiming our true selves and embracing our strengths to move forward. In this episode, Sharlee Dixon speaks with Christina Rasmussen. Christina is a renowned grief educator and bestselling author, known for her impactful books "Second Firsts", "Where Did You Go?", and "Invisible Loss". Following the loss of her spouse to cancer in 2010, Christina developed the Life Reentry process, dedicated to bringing compassion and validation to countless individuals navigating grief. Holding a master's degree in guidance and counseling from the University of Durham, she is also pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and drawing at the Academy of Art. Christina's work has been featured in prominent outlets such as ABC News, Women's World, the Washington Post, and the White House Blog, and she is a contributor to Psychology Today. We're excited to have Christina with us today as we delve into the topics of grief, transcendence, and the exploration of her latest book, "Invisible Loss: Recognizing and Healing the Unacknowledged Heartbreak of Everyday Grief." Some people relate to trauma. Some to grief. But everyone will admit to disappointment, even if you're a chronic minimizer like me. We're not here to exaggerate and inflate anything, and nobody wants to give attention to disappointment so it limits them. That however is my concern. Are we healthfully dealing with disappointments or are we repressing unresolved feelings that are in fact, limiting us? You may be CEO of your company and clearing a million per year, and have unresolved disappointments, from your childhood or last year, limiting you. Maybe they are limiting your performance. Your income. Your relationships. Your fulfillment despite your achievements. This was my focus as I entered into the following discussion with acclaimed grief educator and multiple best selling author, Christina Rasmussen. Christina studied to become a therapist and crisis intervention counselor - even doing her master's thesis on the stages of bereavement, and thought she understood grief. Then, with daughters nine months and two-and-a-half years old, her 31 year old husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and passed away. It was then she truly grasped the depths of sorrow and pain that accompany loss. Four years after Christina's husband died she created the Life Reentry process, which launched her on a mission to bring compassion, grace, and validation to thousands, while simultaneously establishing an exit from what she termed the Waiting Room. She wrote the book, Second Firsts that became a bestseller. Then, Where Did You Go? Her new book and our muse here is Invisible Loss: Recognizing and Healing the Unacknowledged Heartbreak of Everyday Grief. She's taken her experience and research from severe and tragic loss and brought the same, profound process of healing into our everyday grief and disappointments. She found that it's not the size of the big trauma or little disappointment that matters, but the resolution, and she has a process to help us work through it. Christina is a pure joy. I'm in Florida and just received autographed copies of her book, signed to my mom Joanne, who is just four months past my Dad's death. This inspiring conversation will light up your day. Born in Rock Hill, SC, Matt Tucker was raised on country music. Raised in a very musically inclined family, Tucker has always loved to sing and in 2008, he decided to get serious with his music career. He began playing in local honky-tonks with his father around Rock Hill, SC and he soon broke out as a solo artist playing acoustic gigs in the area. Tucker put together his first band a couple of years later and began to realize his full potential. He then started on his journey to Nashville. Tucker is influenced by some of country music's most known legends, such as George Strait, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty and modern artists like Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, and Garth Brooks. His southern upbringing shines through his songs and his music reflects the new country sound with some 90's rockin' ways. In 2013, Tucker made lots of friends in “Music City” Nashville, TN and in October of 2013, after being referred by Hall of Fame songwriter, Sam Tate, Tucker became a SESAC-affiliate known as Guitbox Publishing. Later in the same year, he released a four song “EP” produced and engineered by Pat Holt and recorded in Nashville, TN. In December, a CD release party at one of the Southeast's premier country night clubs, Coyote Joes in Charlotte, NC, helped spark his self-written single “Tonight”, a song that gained radio airplay. Tucker finished the new album “Where Did You Go” in 2017, which features versatile, fan-pleasing songs.

Egan from the KIDZ BOP Kids shares today's KIDZ BOP Daily update for Sunday, November 20. It's Sunday – which means it's time for Sunday Shout-outs! Today's kids' song of the day is "Where Did You Go?" by the KIDZ BOP Kids!
If you've ever wanted to communicate with those you've lost, or experience life beyond life, than do we have the Where Did You Go show for you! Today I'll be talking with Christina Rasmussen, an internationally recognized grief educator, the author of Second Firsts, and the author of a brilliant read, Jessica and I will be working with time and time again, Where Did You Go. We'll talk about how we call all take a life-changing journey to connect with those we've lost. Where Did You Go Self-Improvement & Self-Help Topics Include: What happened to her husband at age 35? What did your daughter see soon after her husband's passing? How'd she realize that there's life after life? What can we learn from quantum physics about life after life? What is the “temple world”? Is there a way to access the world beyond the “living”? How'd she learn to cross over to the other side? What's the door we get to find to the other side? What's a door journey? What does Robert Lanza mean “there is no death, only death in our reality”? What is meant “We only die in someone else's reality, not in ours?” What is a first door journey and how do we undertake one? How can traveling to the temple world transform our lives? Is a temple-world journey similar to a near-death experience? Are our loved ones waiting for us on the other side? What's the survivor's voice, and why do we need to drop it to travel to the other side? What happened the first time Christina traveled to the other side? Will we find our pets on the other side? How will our lives be transformed once we learn to visit the temple world? Take a short guided journey or meditation to the other side! Christina Rasmussen is an acclaimed grief educator, the author of Second Firsts and Where Did You Go She is the founder of The Life Reentry Institute and has helped countless people break out of what she coined the “waiting room” of grief to rebuild their lives through her Life Reentry Model. With this, she introduces a new model of grief based on the science of neuroplasticity. She describes grief as a catalyst for redefining identity, and outlines the process of “reentry”, or returning to life. Her mission is to change the way we grieve, the way we live, and how we define our potential in this life, and the hereafter. She has consulted on the 2019 movie short Dreamcatcher and currently working on her very first work of fiction as she believes that big change in an industry that has been left behind requires not only education and training through traditional settings but also in media, movies and entertainment. Her Institute's mission is to bring forth a new way of speaking about and embracing loss within the medical, corporate and social environments. Her work has been featured at ABC News, Washington Post, Maria Shriver and the White House Blog. She currently works and lives in Lafayette, California with her husband Eric, their daughters and their two dogs. Hey you BEAUTIFUL SOUL!!!It's so good to have you here and listening in on these conversations about leading a better life. And today you are in for a true TREAT with my dear, wonderful friend, Christina Rasmussen! She is the multiple-time best-selling author of Second Firsts, Where Did You Go? And the newest book, Invisible Loss. She is the host of the "Dear Life Podcast," in fact, here is a link to OUR PODCAST together on that. She is the founder of The Life-Reentry Institute which has helped literally hundreds of thousands of people turn their grief into a launching pad for the next experiences of their lives. She got her masters in grief therapy and worked as a therapist helping others move through their grief when, at age 34 her beloved husband died of pancreatic cancer, leaving Christina with her two young daughters and a certainty that grief wasn't being dealt with in the best way possible. So she did something about that. She studied neuroscience, neuroplasticity, and used that to map out behaviors that people can take to transform their grief. We talk about some of that here, as well as life, serendipities, spirituality, business, and a whole host of many, many other things. It was my honor to have Christina on the show, and even more to have her as a friend. Please know that you are loved and deserving!Chip ❤️

Having studied bereavement and even doing her master's thesis in it, Christina Rassmussen thought she knew grief. Then the tragic loss of a child and then her husband to cancer and being left with the loss of a future and a young family to tend to, she found herself not finding answers or help from traditional therapy so she returned to her studies and found a new way. She describes grief as a gap you can get lost in, between your past with someone and your future without them. The way she speaks of the experience of loss is like no one else, blending personal experience, neuroscience and hope. If you've lost someone or know someone who has, this episode will open your eyes to healing and a whole new way of processing grief. This week I am talking to Christina Rasmussen about her book ' Where Did You Go? A Life-Changing Journey to Connect with Those We've Lost'. In her first book, Second Firsts, grief educator Christina Rasmussen helped countless readers cope with and rebuild their lives after loss through her Life Reentry program, drawing on both her professional expertise and her personal experience of becoming a widow at age 35. Still, even after rediscovering joy, she wrestled with one persistent question: where did you go? Like so many of her clients, she continued to wonder what had become of her husband—and whether there is any hope of connecting with our loved ones after they have passed on. Now in her second book, Where Did You Go? A Life-Changing Journey to Connect with Those We've Lost, Rasmussen reveals not only that the answer is “yes,” but that we all have the ability to reconnect with our lost loved ones—while accessing a timeless consciousness that can profoundly change our lives here and now. Books about the afterlife generally fall into one of two categories: spiritual or science-based. Rasmussen—who grew up in a small Greek town where religion permeated daily life, but who fell in love with neuroscience and psychology while studying in Europe and the United States—merges the metaphysical with the scientific in Where Did You Go?, delving into quantum physics and brain science to make the invisible visible, and illuminate some of our most pressing spiritual questions. “When a loved one dies, we can open a door between this world and the next. It only closes when we don't look for it, when we don't observe it and when we don't believe it's there,” writes Rasmussen. “When we walk through this door, we go on a journey to an invisible place.” A step-by-step guide to journeying to the other side—as well as a groundbreaking exploration of what happens after we die—Where Did You Go? leads readers through practical exercises that serve as tools to help us experience the unseen world for ourselves, connect with our loved ones, become comfortable with the experience, and trigger it whenever we desire—no psychic abilities required. “The death of a loved one brings forth an opening just wide enough for us to squeeze in and seek our own truth, to seek the multi-dimensional world where you will find your beloved,” writes Rasmussen. “You want to be a part of it. You want to go inside this place your beloved has gone, reach for their hand, and let them give you a tug. And in that reaching, you find not just them but the place from which you've come, the place you belong.” Christina Rasmussen is an acclaimed grief educator, the author of Second Firsts and Where Did You Go?. She is also the host of The Dear Life Podcast. She is the founder of The Life Reentry Institute and has helped countless people break out of what she coined the “waiting room” of grief to rebuild their lives through her Life Reentry Model. Kristopher H. Bilbrey discusses the importance of understanding transparency and accountability while examining the incoming administrations for 2020! It is better to be cautiously optimistic than just lay down your guard and not be watchful! It is important to get an understanding of just what the new elected officials are planning before deciding to blindly follow them while declaring they have saved the day! This is a part 1 episode that is purposefully vague... due to time sensitive information! Part 2 will follow... but it is TO BE DETERMINED when! The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are back and picking up the pieces of major reshuffling, from Blumhouse pulling a release to recent tragedies to Sony and Marvel ending their shared partnership with Spider-Man over money. In honor of "Ready or Not," the guys pitch movies featuring the hunting of humans, and then they end another episode with America's favorite game, "So Shalit Be?" where they summarize the movies reviewed through the spirit of notable TV film critic, Gene Shalit. Available on iTunes and Spotify Episode 245 includes: -"The Hunt" gets pulled from release following mass shootings, which means it will.... never have a safe period to be released. -Sony and Marvel break up over Spider-Man visitation rights. -Nate struggles to say too many positive things for "The Kitchen," "Dark Iris," and "Where Did You Go, Bernadette?" -"Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" is creepy and a fine introduction to horror for younger kids. -"Ready or Not" is a blast and might be Ben's favorite movie of 2019! -This Week's Pitch -- Human Hunting! -Nate pitches a very uptight librarian keeping order and white nationalist militias deputized by a racist president to round up whatever "illegals" they find. -Ben pitches a cannibal president, an extreme marriage counseling couples session, and a hunt through time using the weapons of its older era. -This Week's Game -- So Shalit Be! -The guys assume the mantle of TV film critic Gene Shalit by providing increasingly insane blurbs for the movies covered this week.

2013 May "En Mai fais ce qu'il te plaît!" French Proverb which literally means " In May do what pleases you".. Today is my birthday and I am stuck at home with a massive head cold.. Thought I would give myself a little present and put together a set JUST FOR ME... A collection of deep, cookie, eclectic tunes, which I would hate to forget and lose in the dark recesses of my hard drive because they do not fit the strict format of Deep, Soulful, Progressive of this podcast. So here it is, jams I like, sounds I want to be able to access in the distant future, tracks that may not have the vocal hooks I love, yet trigger emotions at a complete different level. If you do not want to indure a bit of tech, a bit of deep, a bit of NY style, a bit of garage, a bit of acid, a bit of jackin' do not bother with the set and wait for the next one.. I am not inferring that those tunes are "better", just that on my birthday I may do what pleases .. ME.. Playlist: 2009 Intro I Feel Good. Roland Clark 2013 Where Did You Go (AtJazz Remix). Shea 2013 On To You. Golf Clap 2013 NY 2 UK (James Dexter Mix). DeepCitySoul & DJ Romain 2013 I Saw Yo Girl (Full Acid Vox Edit). Waifs & Strays 2013 Pieces Garage Mix. Flashmob featuring Laila Walker 2013 New York Style (Elias Tzikas Remix). Jerk House Connection 2013 Be Right There. Waze & Odyssey 2013 All I Have Is Love (Steve Mill & Elias Tzikas Remix). Zaki feat. Andre Espeut 2012 Let It Go (Daviddance Remix). Armchair Generals 2013 What you Need (Original Mix). DJ Fudge 2013 Another Way (Grant Nelson Remix). Golf Clap 2013 My Urban Soul (Black Sonix Retro Groove Mix). DJ Roland Clark pres. Urban Soul 2013 The Whistle Song (Supernova Remix). Frankie Knuckles & Director’s Cut 2013 I Feel (Samson Lewis Remix). Logistix pres. Deon Nathan Highlights: Not sure Highlights is going to cut it but a better option is to comment as to why I included a specific track: “Where Did You Go” Shea and Marcel Atjazz, need I say more.. Lovelly little intro track. “On To You”. Golf Clap, is “very hot right now ;)” deep, great work on the beats and the production yet melodic. “NY 2 UK”.. Do I love the undergroove? Yes add some accapellas and everyone who knows me, gets the idea.. Very current, real Deep, edgy, funky… “I Saw Yo Girl” I always have had a thing for Hip/Hop.. Edgy track with an acid tinge.. “Pieces” Flashmob is becoming bigger by the day.. and I love the acapella with the brit accent.. Another edgy track, which may really push your limits. “New York Style” Jerk House Connection French and really good.. I love the NY feel, I love the reggae vocals.. and it stays melodic. “Be Right There”.. Current, modern, hatched beats had to included a bit of Jackin’ House in this set.. “All I Have Is Love” continuing the darker NY feel with a greek remixer Elias Tzikas. “Let It Go” Deep Tech House at its very best.. I wanted a wake up track with a nice groove at this moment in the set.. This came up.. “What you need” now in the back part of the set, introducing a bit a bit of funk and sugar.. “Another Way” another Golf Clap track with Grant Nelson’s giving it a UK feel.. If you have stayed with me so far, you are starting to have fun!! “My Urban Soul”.. Roland Clark, Urban Soul.. Bringing you down but how can I resist… “The Whistle Song” Frankie Knuckles seminal classic gets the Supernova remix treatment. I love it and perfect to get ready to exit the set.. “I Feel (Samson Lewis Remix)” I absolutely love this track, deep, groovy funky and I simply had to give anyone who actually stayed with me on this set a big dollup of sugar at the end.. Next one will be less introspective I promise.. Happy Birthday to Me Xtian
