During the Cabarrus County Fair in September, we set up a couple of microphones and a portable mixer and posed a simple question to fairgoers: What makes you thankful? The responses ranged from hilarious to heartwarming and everything in between. In this episode, YOU share the treasures in your life. In addition to a whole bunch of appreciation, we'll hear from Communications and Outreach members Jonathan Weaver, Dominique Clark, Jarrett Glass, Tiffany Powell and Jaelyn McCrea on the experience of gathering nearly 200 voices that gave thanks for family, friends, faith, good health and more (like spaghetti and coffee, in that order). My favourite thing about the real estate world is the mavericks. The outliers that do what others either don't know about, or are unwilling to do. Today's guest is the hallmark of such investors. I met Jonathan a little over ten years ago. Even though we didn't do business together right away, he continued to weave in and out of my life over the next decade. (which is appropriate given that his last name is Weaver) Fast forward a few years and I ended up working with Jonathan at a mortgage brokerage. The concepts and ideas that I learned from him back then, are what drive my business today. He's been a pivotal character in the direction of my life, and someone that challenges the way I think every time we speak. A few years ago he did the opposite of what everyone else was doing and sold his home in Toronto to buy a trailer park out in the middle of nowhere. Or at least most Torontonians interpretation of it. Since then he's been able to create a monthly cashflow that exceeds what most make in a year, and increase the value of the property more than ten fold! You'll definitely wanna to listen to Jonathan Weaver on this episode of “Guide 2 the Grind”.

My interview with the incredible Jonathan Weaver. OMG, I was so excited about this. I came across the anti blueprint project when I started researching Kickstarter book projects and I was instantly involved with this concept. As I mention in the interview I think Johnathan and I are kindred spirits. We are two people that have come to find power in the journey of discovering your own path and interview other successful people to learn and share a few more examples. His story is no different. I was totally inspired by his work, his energy, and his kindness he has shown me in being willing to help my project. He is an incredible human. I count myself lucky to have crossed paths with another wonderful human. Hope you enjoy our conversation. Full episodes info and Show Notes - www.wearelookingsideways.com It’s the final episode from my Portland series, recorded during a breakneck week spent exploring the City of Roses with my various guests. And this episode, recorded with my very old friend Jonathan Weaver, is a fitting departure from the usual format. That’s because we recorded this episode during a very pleasant and leisurely drive around the Oregon coastline. I rode shotgun, grabbed the mics and spent an extremely enjoyable day riding around, checking the surf and having what is even for me a properly meandering conversation. And what a perfect format it was for exploring Jon’s inspirational and circuitous career through the industry. I actually gave Jon his first gig as a writer way back when I helped to run Whitelines, and he’s sure come a long, long way since then; ticking off stints as a snowboarder, team manager, and general industry mover and shaker at brands like Forum and Nike as his career has flourished. Listeners often ask how you begin get a career in the action sports industry, and this episode is a very good place to start. Above all, it’s the story of a brilliant life in snowboarding and beyond, powdered by passion and curiosity. I’m very proud to call Jon a close friend, and even more stoked to have him on the show for the episode. Hope you enjoy it. HUGE thanks to Travel Portland, Kex Portland, Hertz and Black Diamond PR for their help in pulling this entire trip together. Thanks to Matt Ward for the theme tune, and to my editor Fina Charleson.

This time I'm talking to Jonathan Weaver about his experiences at Proto ATL, the playtesting and showcasing event that happened recently in Atlanta.
Former FBI criminal profiler, Mark Safarik, takes a look at Matt Stewart's autopsy and gives his thoughts. Freddie speaks with Matt's childhood friend, Cornell Harris. An anonymous family friend describes Matt's behavior leading up to the murder. A next door neighbor gives a perplexing testimony, casting doubt on the investigation. Freddie debriefs with former Statesville Record & Landmark reporter, Jonathan Weaver. UNFORGOTTEN: the Unsolved Murder of Matt Stewart is an independently produced podcast series which takes a detailed look at the still unsolved homicide of Matthew Ryan Stewart; a 31 year old father of three who was brutally murdered inside his Mooresville, NC home during the early hours of June 9th, 2009.
Jonathan Weaver is relatively new to the design scene, but he's recently began the journey from creative daydreaming to pitching games and self publishing. We talk about what has helped him really get a foot hold, how he stays level headed, what makes a good title, and how to be a Christian and make board games, without making distinctly Christian board games.HOT Links - Jonathan's Twitter - https://twitter.com/j_weavesGameweaver Facebook Group - https://t.co/vcVaEQPMhBGenghis: Rising Khan illustration by Lesley Vamos - https://t.co/XGbo5F7QJZOur Site - www.cardboardherald.comOur Video Channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsBLZ33CJXoUffCBF7plpjgOur Twitter - https://twitter.com/CardboardHeraldOur Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/user?u=9669551
In the first episode, UNFORGOTTEN host, Freddie Wilson, dives into Matt's Stewart's murder by speaking with local reporters, Megan Sprague, of the Mooresville Tribune, and Jonathan Weaver, formerly of the Statesville Record & Landmark, both whom covered Matt's murder in the press most recently. Freddie also interviews Matt Stewart's oldest daughter, Hannah Stewart, as she shares her experiences coming through the tragedy. The episode later examines odd comments made by Mike Lawson, the neighbor whose house Matt's widow ran to on the night of the murder.
