Tim has a new Gen Z podcast, co-hosted by Cameron Kasky. The most recent episode is called "Nazi Parties Aren't Ragers," and features guest Joshua Rush, a former Disney Channel star turned political operative. Covid-19 locked up Gen Z during their formative years, and the GOP offered them a party. Sure, there's some Nazism mixed in with the drinks, but during a loneliness pandemic, you take what highs you can get. Tim and Cam discuss how Covid helped push Gen Z right. Plus, Joshua Rush defends the activist tactics of Gen Z and explains how— in the face of nonstop nihilism—he still has optimism for the future of America. So do you guys think Joshua Rush and Luke Mullen aka Andi Mack’s Cyrus and T.J. really ship Tyrus in real life!?!? At the risk of getting slimed I started getting into the deets and asking the questions on the orange carpet at Nick #KCA 2019 ahead of Andi Mack Season 4! Joshua is funny sweet and always super-nice. It was AwEsOmE catching up with him. As for Luke well….that’s another story! LOL! Just kidding! This is actually the first time we’ve met. He was just as cool as you guys would hope and very nice too! All was going smoothly until Asher Angel almost crashed the interview! Joshua tried to get him to jump in on the interview but well just see what happened. Also exactly what did Joshua and Luke do to upset Michelle Manning!? We’re talking Andi Mack on-set pranks, Season 4 Tyrus info and Marvel vs. DC! With Asher Angel in Shazam!, which do Josh and Luke prefer? This is the first of our interviews from this year’s MeGa-PiPeRiFiC Kids Choice Awards! 2019 was a great year for KCA! It was back on the beautiful #USC campus. This is the first time the ceiling on the tent was lined was fiber optic stars! It was so pretty. Tons of people. ❤️
What would it be like to experience the months of the year--out of order? Joshua Rush ("Andi Mack") and Ailsa Chang (NPR) co-star in this story which has its origins in Russia, Greece, and the Czech Republic. Bex chats to Joshua Rush, who plays Cyrus in the Disney channel show Andi Mack. They chat about the success of the show and Cyrus playing the first gay character on American Disney Channel! Catch episodes of Andi Mack weekdays on Disney Channel. Watch out for new episodes from season 2 this summer!
It’s our ToTaLLy 100% Joshua Rush Exclusive interview...and YES, Piper asked about Cyrus being Disney Channel’s first openly gay or #LGBTQ character on Andi Mack. But, that’s not why we’re keeping this interview long. The reason for the length is Joshua himself! He’s funny, super-smart, sincere, sweet and AwEsOmE to talk to! You really need to stick around for this one, especially if you’re an Andi Mack fan! We’re getting into behind the Andi Mack scenes stuff, Josh’s real life interests and goals stuff, and even Asher Angel’s weird Chipotle order stuff! BTW, We’re focusing on Andi Mack here, but Joshua has also done a bunch of voice work! He’s Bunga from Disney’s The Lion Guard, Breehn from Clarence, Jeremy Birnbaum from Star Vs. the Forces of Evil, and Toby from The Adventures of Puss in Boots! Keeping Score: Last year we predicted that Andi Mack would be the number one show on kids TV before the show even launched. This year, we predicted that Joshua Rush’s character, Cyrus, was going to be Disney Channel’s first gay character months before it was announced. 2 for 2! Yup, breaking wind….errr….news since 2007. Speaking of 2007…Piper’s Picks turns 10 years old in December! HoLy PiPeRoNi! As the first and longest running online entertainment news show (for any demographic), we are looking toward the future and to expanding beyond Piper’s Picks. It’s always been about making kids smile through staying high energy and focusing on fun and positive stuff. Thank you soooo much to everyone who watches and interacts with us! We know many of you have been watching since 2007! Some of you started watching in elementary or middle school and are college graduates or even have your own kids. It’s MeGa-surreal, very PiPeRDeLiC and hard to even grasp. Thank you! You really like reading, don’t you? I mean…you’re this far in. Well, in that case, we recommend reading the other 270 Piper’s Picks episode descriptions and maybe Deadtime Stories: The Witching Game (Nancy Patanski is my personal favorite character in it.

BEHIND THE LENS welcomes back a very special guest this week, JOSHUA RUSH, now one of the stars of the new Disney Channel hit ANDI MACK. Listen as Joshua talks all things "Andi Mack" and more! Hear some snippets from experts at TCMFF talking nitrate films, and we've got breaking news on the 33rd annual S.T.A.G.E. HoLy PiPeRoNi! The #HuMoNGoID new Disney Channel show Andi Mack ToTaLLy crushes the field! Terry Minsky returns to Disney for the first time since Lizzy McGuire (which is in our very top tween shows of all time) and we’ve got Peyton Elizabeth Lee (Andi), Asher Dovangel (Jonah Beck), Joshua Rush (Cyrus), Sofia Wylie (Buffy) AND Emily Skinner (Amber) here to talk boys, girls, characters, crushes and on vs. off-screen chemistry! THIS is precisely what we’ve been hoping to see from Disney Channel. Background? OK! Disney and Nick have long been avoiding what’s called “low concept” shows (see this article on adamfeinsilver.com). Development execs told us following pitch meetings for a show we’re working on (hint) that they only want “high concept” and didn’t want shows with “kids at school or at home.” Weird? YES! We’ve listened to you guys for like…over 9 years…and good low concept shows always work (i.e. Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens, Girl Meets World!) Maybe it took Terry Minsky to get things back on track. Hmmmm!? Anyway, Andi Mack (aka Andiland) is AwEsOmE! In addition to Terri Minsky, Michelle Manning is on board! Michelle is behind Teen Beach Movie 2 and Disney’s remix of Adventures in Babysitting! So, we had some special insight (i.e.. the original script) into what was coming…and saw some changes that made the show a fit for Disney. Somehow, they kept all the magic of the original (kept it real) and still made it Disney-style. Let us know if you want us to go into techie details (or if you’ve read this far into the description). So, we’re NOT giving away the big secret sauce at the end of episode 1! You have to watch! As for why Bex is missing from interview, Lilan Bowden cut out before our round of interviews! We’ve already reached out…and hopefully we’ll be seeing Bex again soon (Piper does have a picture!
The Mouse Castle Lounge Podcast: Disney News and Interviews, Cocktails and Conversations
Disney is returning to the Pride Lands for a new Disney Channel animated series based on The Lion King called The Lion Guard. The series itself will get underway in January, but you can get your first look at the next generation of Lion King characters when The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar debuts on Disney Channel on November 22 at 7:00 p.m. It's a one-hour movie that introduces us to Kion, the second-born son of Simba and Nala—if you've ever seen the direct-to-video Lion King 2: Simba's Pride, you might recall Kion already has an older sister, Kiara. Kion is tasked with forming the Lion Guard, a group of young animals responsible for protecting the Pride Lands. And while the Lion Guard has traditionally been an all-lion team, Kion opts to include a variety of animals with their own special strengths. So you have Bunga, a brave honey badger; Ono, an intellectual egret; Fuli, a confident and very fast Cheetah; and Beshte, a good-humored and well-connected hippo. The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar is voiced by a mostly youthful cast, but there are some returning veterans. Just as he did in the original Lion King, Ernie Sabella will voice Simba's loyal warthog friend Pumbaa and James Earl Jones will be heard once again as Simba's wise father Mufasa. Simba is voiced by The Grinder's Rob Lowe and Gabrielle Union provides the voice of Nala. On Saturday, I got to hang out at the Walt Disney Studios for the premiere of The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar and chatted with members of the cast, including Max Charles, Joshua Rush, Dusan Brown, Atticus Shaffer, Ernie Sabella, Eden Riegel, Sarah Hyland, Madison Pettis, Jonny Rees and Khary Payton. They are all my guests today in The Mouse Castle Lounge. Enjoy! www.TheMouseCastle.comRSS Feed: http://themousecastle.libsyn.com/rss
What a show this week! Wow! debbie's cinematic co-hort Greg Srisavasdi is back as they welcome actor Joshua Rush and writer/director Khalil Sullins. Listen now as ultimate cool guy Joshua Rush joins in at the 15 minute mark and talks not only about his new new film, BREAK POINT, but gives everyone the "411" on his new project, Disney Channel's THE LION GUARD: RETURN OF THE ROAR and spin-off series, THE LION GUARD, and his character "Bunga". Trust us when we say, "You don’t want to miss this interview!" Then take a quick breath because writer/director Khalil Sullins jumps on board at the halfway point of the show and tells us all about one of the most riveting films I've seen in a number of years, the sci-fi thriller LISTENING. Listen as Khalil tells us about the world of metacognition, mental telepathy and neuromechnanics in this fascinating narrative that melds philosophical ideals, social conscience and technology. Filmmakers will find discussions on Flicker 3D Stereoscopics and the use of color in creating the visual look and tone that brings the story to life interesting, while actors will appreciate Khalil's frank discussion on casting his actors and going non-union. And hear debbie and Greg talk about a few new classic film books which should be of interest to the TCM crowd, including one on recreating the jewelry of the silver screen a la Swarovski. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
