Our first premiere of the day sees two generations of techno join forces to showcase a hypnotic masterclass as Jereon Search & Pushmann release on N&N Records. Hailing from the Netherlands and Spain respectively, the pair lean on shuffling drum grooves alongside a whirlpool of swirling sci-fi-orientated synth lines for a transfixing techno tool. One of the leading lights in Spain's contemporary techno scene Pushmann has put together a colossal various artist's release with music coming from Alexander Kowalski, DJ Shufflemaster, Doug Cooney, Hertz Collision, Ken Ishii, Mike Storm, Ritzi Lee, The Advent & more on his label N&N Records. We premiere Jeroen Search & Pushmann's collaboration. Hailing from Spain Pusmann produces a Detroitesque sound with a clear and strong influence from the cities of Berlin and Birmingham. His sound is widespread but often finds itself in the realms of fast-paced, industrial, and mechanical high-octane techno. The Spaniard's releases have seen massive support from Ben Sims, Truncate, Laurent Garnier, Mark Broom, Slam, Dj Hyperactive, Kevin Sanderson, Orlando Voorn, Paul Mac, and many more. With previous releases on Hardgroove, Be As One Imprint, Suara, and more, the young DJ is one of the most exciting prospects in techno right now. A name that hardly needs introduction Jereon Search has been at the top of his game since the 90s. Jeroen Search, who has been cited by many as an inspiration, personifies an accurate and straightforward interpretation of techno music. He has consistently been at the face of contemporary modern techno. Known for his genre-defying unique sound, energetic performances, and forward-thinking live shows. Releases on Axis, Token, KEY Vinyl, and Figure, to mention a few, as well as on his own imprint Search and other labels have cemented his name as one of the great innovators in techno. We premiere Jereon Search & Pushmann's collaboration ‘Avoid Capture'. The track is a high-energy trip through space and time as the pair put their minds together to bring a head-scrambling excursion surrounded by nefarious synth lines and swinging drum grooves. The pair have both notably released on Jeff Mills Axis imprint, and you can find them finding a common dominion within that sci-fi and futuristic sound that is often harnessed on Mill's label. Liam Chambers aka HOOLIGAN is this weeks entry to the Four Four Local Selection Mix Series. The talented Cork DJ and producer completes the 172nd edition to the series, comprising of a groove infused, hypnotically driven recording from start to finish. Boasting releases on Sonic Intel, SPEED and Disintegrated, it is clear that HOOLIGAN is no stranger to Ireland's and more notably, Cork's underground dance scene. Having played in ‘An Spalpín Fánach' and ‘Crack Jenny's', coupling this with his involvement in Kriptik, a collective running private events in unique locations around Cork, solidifies this fact even more. Kriptik looks to have gained a very strong reputation in quite a short period of time and are definitely a party to keep an eye on in future. It looks to be another positive contribution to the reignition of Cork city's party scene that is badly needed. Bravo. HOOLIGAN's approach to Techno reflects images and soundscapes of the dark basements of Berlin. His love for rolling basslines and heavy hypnotic grooves, where he blends the old with the new is apparent throughout his recordings as well as his productions. Our first premiere of the week comes from Ctrls on DJ Stingray's imprint, Micron Audio. Ctrls experiments electro and bass heavy tracks on this release to great effect. The Danish producer unpicks the deepening complexity brought on by our pervasive digital lives. The Ctrls project came to life in 2012 and the Danish artist immediately made his mark on the techno scene. His fast paced and futuristic techno based sound has now been well established with a stream of respected music on labels such as Token Records, Earwiggle, and Key Vinyl. For his next release the formidable techno artist releases on DJ Stingray's imprint Micron Audio as it opens its doors to an external artist for the first time. Across four tracks, the Danish producer unravels a dark and funky electro core, taking inspiration from the rapidly intertwining codependence between technology and society. As digital twins, metaverses or humanoid robots lodge themselves deeper into our surroundings, Ctrls unpicks the deepening complexity brought on by our pervasive digital lives. Encouraged by Micron Audio boss Stingray to delve into the darker productions as a means of exploring a contemporary electro sound, Ctrls fixes a hypnotic heft with fresh industrial sound. ‘Subroutines' is a dark and heavy bass exploration, as Ctrls experiments with sub heavy drums and glitchy synths. To say that Dimi Angélis has been around, is to state the obvious. When during the late nineties techno first got hold in The Netherlands, Dimi was there to help shape the culture that would see it flourish. Promoting raves and warehouse parties in Amsterdam and putting his first needle on a record back when ‘underground' actually meant something, he has since built a career that spans two decades. His craftsmanship is based on emotion, honesty and the from belief that music has the power to move and educate. Over time his path has taken him everywhere from Berghain and Awakenings to Under Club and Dekmantel. Besides playing records, Dimi is an avid producer. After teaming up with Jeroen Search in 2004, the first half of his twenty-odd active years saw him release a string of sought-after EP's and LP's on Mission (6277/Axis), Stockholm LTD and their co-owned A&S label. Now, as the beginning of a third decade draws closer, Dimi's been equally successful in putting out solo music on Mord, Warm Up Recordings, Axis Records, KEY Vinyl, Construct Re- Form, Krill Music, Falling Ethics and his own ANGLS imprint. Much like Dimi's ANGLS is a platform for open and straightforward techno, helping to shape the genre for another two decades to come.
