We have a truly one-of-a-kind dead pilot for you this month! It's The Sleeping Father, written by Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney (Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows, Power Rangers), based on the novel by Matthew Sharpe. It follows the slow-motion implosion and long and ridiculous recovery of the Schwartz family after patriarch, Bernie, goes into a coma and comes out of it even more screwed up than when he went in. Michele and Kieran originally wrote this as a screenplay for Warner Bros and it was later revived as a television pilot for Warner Bros Television. The Mulroneys have lived with and worked on this adaptation for well over a decade, and we are happy to bring you not just one, but two episodes of this criminally dead project! They wrote a great second episode that we will be bringing you next week. This is an unconventional and unpredictable story about a messy family that we know you're going to love. Enjoy it!We had a terrific cast for this one including Dave Foley (Newsradio), Ennis Esmer (Blindspot), Ciara Bravo (Cherry), Daniel DiMaggio (American Housewife), Nichole Sakura (Superstore), Niles Fitch (This Is Us), Sarah Rafferty (Suits), Bellina Logan (ER), Greg Hess (LA to Vegas), and Andrew Reich with stage directions. If you'd like to see the video feed of The Sleeping Father, you can do so by going to maximum fun.org/join and become a member for as little as $5. E er på vej tilbage til sit 2. Vegas residency. B hader den by. Den er lorten uden ende at besøge. Men nu giver vi den et skud for fællesskabets skyld.
Cole Crosby recently completed something that has never been done - a solo run on the original relay route (OG route) from LA to Vegas as part of The Speed Project. TSP is typically reserved for team efforts but Cole wanted more. Much more. After years of testing his limits, including the Cocodona 250 last spring, he had his sights set on Vegas. Cole puts it best in his Instagram post from March 29: "The TSP solo adventure was earth-shattering. Mother Nature threw everything at us: rain, sleet, wind, sand storms, heat, sun, mud, and yet we never faltered. I finally showed what I am capable of as an athlete. 346 miles averaging paces between 10-13 minute miles, tackling whatever obstacle was in our way. Our team grew stronger and deeper as the journey went on until the last 5,000 foot climb and the sprint downhill into Vegas. This journey to me is what an OG stands for. It's not about taking the shortest route but rather the longest. It's about fighting adversity and not showing weakness. It's about gaining the beauty and inspiration in the harsh desert landscape. It's about rising above when others crumble. It's about teamwork, solitude and the burning desire to do great for others. 346 miles run 17,000k of vert 92 hours 57 minutes 1 runner, 3 crew aka family That's OG! I hope this run inspires you to take on this challenge. Because records are meant to be broken. But what I hold up high is that there will only ever be 1 OG Solo runner to be the first to complete the route and OG crew that got me to the sign. And for that experience I will cherish those moments forever." You can follow Cole at www.instagram.com/colecrosby41. Welcome to the after show interview! This week we sat down with the writer of Peak Eve, Lon Zimmet. Andrew and Lon worked together on Lon's first show, Worst Week. Since then Lon has gone on to write for Happy Endings, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Superstore, and he created the sitcom LA to Vegas on Fox. In this interview, Andrew and Lon talked about Lon's transition from working in a writing team to going out on his own. He credits his solo success to writing as much as he possibly could. Lon talks about his handy story document that he always refers to when he starts to work on something new. He let us in on his experience developing with FX, his process of writing cold opens, lessons he's learned as a show runner, and the difference between writing shows for the market and writing for yourself. This is a good one! We have an edgy FX pilot for you this month! It's called Peak Eve and it comes to us from Lon Zimmet (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Superstore, creator of LA to Vegas). It centers on a misanthropic, twenty-something narcissist who resigns herself to becoming a better person… and then is annoyed to discover what a huge pain in the ass that's going to be. This one is really good and super funny! You won't want to miss it!We had a stellar cast for this one including Dylan Gelula (Loot) as Eve, Biniam Bizuneh (Dave) as Josh, Aparna Brielle (AP Bio) as Allie, Tre Hall (the upcoming Platonic series on Apple TV) as Marcus, Craig Cackowski (Drunk History) as Alan, Jaime Moyer (AP Bio) as Debra, Charley Koontz as War Beard (Community), Savannah Rodin (Miracle Workers) as Laurel, and Andrew Reich with stage directions. If you want to watch the video recording of this pilot, you can do so for as little as $5 by becoming a Maximum Fun member at maximfun.org/donateTune in next week for our interview with Lon Zimmet. We have a great after show interview for you! It's an enlightening conversation with Hilary Winston (My Name Is Earl, Community) & Mat Harawitz (Angie Tribeca, Will & Grace) writers of last week's episode, Common Areas. Hilary spills some life changing advice she got from Kerry Washington in college and tails from her first staff writer job on The Orlando Jones Show. Mat tells us about his most embarrassing job interview moments, some sage (and practical) writing advice, and a conversation about the history of TV pilots. Hilary also taught us about Dan Harmon's story circle, which she learned from Dan Harmon. Andrew gave us some great intel on how David Crane (Creator of Friends) ran his rooms and some great tips for creating a positive working experience. This is absolutely a must listen episode for everyone! CITIUS MAG co-founders Ryan Sterner and Stephen Kersh took to the roads from Los Angeles to Las Vegas last weekend to witness 40+ teams take on the harsh task of running a 340-miles relay race through some of the most intense terrain in the country. A herculean effort no doubt, but what’s even more impressive is our journey through hunger, sleep depravation, and limited LTE signal. They put together a photo essay of their journey for the site, which you can see here: http://citiusmag.com/speed-project-2018-photo-essay/

Dennis visits the Valley Village home of his pal Matt Zarley to interview Matt's good friend, actor Nathan Lee Graham who is in town from New York to shoot the new Fox sitcom L.A. to Vegas, in which he plays a seen-it-all flight attendant named Bernard. Nathan talks about auditioning for the show, how the airplane set works, working with Dylan McDermott (and in one episode Dermot Mulroney), getting the uniform just-so, his dream guest star and his dream episode, which is coming up soon and involves a certain celebration. Nathan also talks about his work in the theater; appearing on Broadway in The Wild Party and Priscilla: Queen of the Desert and Off-Broadway in shows like The View Upstairs and Hit the Wall. He shares memories of his friend and colleague Eartha Kitt, recalls growing up in St. Louis and watching classic movies with his mother, coming out, carrying a briefcase to school instead of a backpack. Dylan McDermott's last several series were dark, and it was time to have some fun -- so along came "LA To Vegas." Created by Lon Zimmet and executive produced by Steve Levitan, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, "LA To Vegas" is an ensemble workplace comedy that follows an budget airline crew and the crazy passengers to fly back and forth from Los Angeles to Las Vegas each weekend. McDermott plays Captain Dave, the pilot with an epic moustache who's looking for a good time when he's not behind the controls. Turn It On recently met up with McDermott and Levitan to discuss the show's opening success, the future of Fox, the story behind Captain Dave and of course, that 'stache.

Beth can currently be seen as “Linda from Purchasing” on ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK for Netflix, “Blanche” the long suffering maid on Comedy Central's ANOTHER PERIOD, “Shari” on the WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER series for Netflix, and the upcoming sitcom LA TO VEGAS for FOX. Some other credits include CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, BURNING LOVE, NEWSREADERS, DIFFICULT PEOPLE, FRESH OFF THE BOAT, CHASING LIFE, BOB'S BURGERS, SON OF ZORN, COMEDY BANG BANG, BROOKLYN NINE NINE, DADS, NEW GIRL, DICE, GARFUNKLE AND OATES, PARTY DOWN, the movie LIFE PARTNERS, and some other stuff. If you like “Kahnversations,” please leave a rating or review on our iTunes page! There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh. In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.
I didn't plan on releasing this podcast... I was texting my good buddy Mike Krupica, along some other friends, to wish them luck on an amazing journey. It then occurred to me that we should DEFINITELY do a podcast on this whole thing. Mike and some other members of the Parkdale Roadrunners are only hours away from a truly EPIC run that will test them in every way imaginable. I caught Mike just before the start of the race to see where his head was at and how he plans to deal with the challenges ahead. We cover all of that plus much much more. --------------- Mike Krupica / @mike_krupica
