Welcome to Episode 24 of Intuitive Queens podcast from your Intuition Queen.   My name is Mara and I have created this podcast to inspire you with the amazing stories of my guests. They talk about how they overcame fears, limiting beliefs, tragedies and obstacles and managed to find their purpose following their intuition. My hope is that you will resonate with one or all of them and their story will inspire you to take-action to change your life, and finally go after your dreams.   Today I have the honour of speaking with Lana Nelson, an intuitive nutritionist and Author of the book Food Codes.   Lana tells us how she grew up in household where food was important and eating was healthy so healthy food and cooking has always been a part of her.   A car accident brought her to spend the 10 years after in constant pain. It didn’t matter what doctor she went to, nothing seemed to work to alleviate her pain and her constant headache.   Of course, one of the things Lana tried was also different diet, the latest at that period but still nothing would work. As a mother of 6 and working mother, this was hell for her but she kept going.   She finally found relief when she started going to a chiropractor. To the point that she jocked about being a good idea marrying one, considering how many times she was seeing one – 3 times a week!   And as she says: careful what you wish for because the universe is listening!   A blind date made that wish a reality!   Aside from the romantic implication, what also changed Lana’s life was that after 2 weeks of treatment with her husband to be, she was completely out of pain.   He was using energy medicine in addition to his practice, particularly muscle testing. Lana became extremely interested and started practising with him. Since diet was part of the practise, she suggested applying muscle testing on food as part of their healing process.   The amazing results received and her growing interest gave birth to her book The Food Codes, where Lana explains how your body already knows what you need to heal.   No latest crazy diet is needed, only awareness and using muscle testing to understand what is good for you and what not. What Lana explains is that, we are all very different and therefore the new latest diet doesn’t necessary applies to you, quite the opposite, it might be bad. Your body once again, it’s the one that already knows and can direct you in the right direction, allowing you to eat what you love without adding too much sacrifice or guilt.   In her book and this episode, Lara explains with clarity how to become aware of your body and how to use muscle testing to understand what food is needed in order for you to heal, release pain or lose weight.   You can also find a variety of examples of people that have changed their lives after having used the food codes. It applies to pain, allergies and weight loss.   In addition to the food codes Lana talk about the Emotion Code which she uses in combination with the food codes to help people release emotions that are stuck in their bodies and cause energetic, emotional blocks which can turn out to become physical pain. I’m really excited! Can you tell! I should have been paying better attention when you answered plantar fasciitis questions before. It came up for me during work travel and couldn’t find a foam roller, so I didn’t run for 5 days. Since coming home I’ve been doing the shin & calf foam roll moves a few times a day. Using the therapists thumb for a little extra, and trying not to take a bunch of ibuprofen. I did a 30 min walk today followed by some foam rolling. Is run/walk a good idea while having PF? I don’t have a PT on my care team yet, when do I know I need to stop at-home rehab attempts and get PT attention? How fast do tendons and ligaments lose their crucial adaptations and how long do they take to build back up? I'm just wondering if a month away from running equals a month in ReBuild? I kept up my fitness with cross training while I wasn't running and am making sure I take it slowly so I don't get injured, just wondering if there were any general guidelines about moving from ReBuild into Maintain after time off? This week absolutely was a scratch. I have been in lane 2 and planning to go to maintain next month. I’ve been doing ok this month up u til now, feeling strong and comfortable with the lane 2 work. I have a race on the calendar for the first of March (Atlanta). Should I consider taking another month in lane 2 or move over even though this week was basically a complete loss? Do you have any suggestions for improving whole body mobility? I’m feel like chasing the constantly moving injury and while previous pt have focused on strengthening and it helps in the short term the same injuries keep reoccurring. My new pt feels like spinal mobility is a major reason why these keep happening. I’m thinking that working on lower body mobility would probably help but I’m not sure where to start.   Maintain Emily Sorenson ran Philly today!!!!!! Hard fought in terrible weather! Wore her 6>4 shirt and was the VERY LAST FINISHER (texted with her after and she is super proud) Trisha Thorme and Laura Zale ran Philly Half yesterday,  Lana Nelson ran Route 66 today,  Jackie Kearns ran the Fall Classic half marathon   No question but I just wanted to thank you so much for recommending a pelvic floor PT for stress incontinence. My doctor recommended surgery. I went for the pre-surgical test but asked about alternatives. He said I could try PT and recommended an provider. She is great! I’ve been going once a week and I am so much better. I’m down to every other week now and getting better all the time. Thank you so much. Still not running! I've been seeing a PT for what she's calling a hamstring strain. But I'm hoping to get back to running in a few weeks. By then it will be about 5-6 weeks off. Before then I'd done Maintain for 17 weeks (although I will admit that I skipped/shortened the long run more often than I should have). My question is: when I get back into running, should I start again in Rebuild? I'm assuming that's the way to go. And how many weeks in Rebuild? Would love your advice on what I should do for the next month or so of getting back into it. Thank you! Hello, beautiful coaches! Any advice for choosing marathon pace? I had planned to run the actual race with heart rate as my guide, but my watch hasn’t been super reliable and I think I may have to use other factors to guide me come race day. Thank you! I am doing the Tenacious AF ramp up for the Disney Marathon. The majority of my runs have had to be done on the treadmill because of schedules and childcare. I put the incline at either .5 or 1. I have even done higher and used negative inclines on days that the plan has hills in the run. Do I need to be concerned about being ready for my marathon because I am not sure when our family schedules will improve to do more runs outside? Hey coaches! This is probably a segue for the goal setting session. But if I sign up for slow burn first round... and want to run a fun 1/2 with my BRF (likely to be slow around 2:45-3) the last weekend in March? Lana Nelson’s life traumas ultimately became gifts even despite being injured in a nasty car accident causing years of chronic pain. She knew she would be the sole financial supporter of her young children. Having previous experience in the field she started her own dental lab business and 4 years later bought a home, a new van and able took her children on vacation. Plus she had become a noted expert in the cutting-edge field of dental implants. But after 5 years of continued headaches and pain she saw a Chiropractor and continued trying new things - juicing, massage and yoga, all considered “weird” at the time.  She kept thinking and saying, “I should marry a Chiropractor. I’m seeing one 3 times a week!” Yes “The universe was listening.” Lana met her future husband on a blind date. He specialized in treating pain and with his treatments Lana was pain-free in 2 weeks!  He healed her body and her heart.  They married and combined two families and were called “The Brady Bunch times two!” Over the next several years Lana created a Food program that helped her husbands chronically ill patients heal with food, and also opened a health food store. Sadly her husband had a massive brain aneurysm, which changed their lives forever. Miraculously he survived and Lana became his caretaker and financial supporter.
