Hey, it’s Brandon. We’re interrupting our regularly scheduled programming to bring you a more personal episode today. I want to take a second and thank all of you who have reached out to check in on us or encourage us in any way. It has been such a blessing to be surrounded by an incredible community and so many great friends. We pulled an audible this week, and Lindsay and I just sat down and talked through what we’ve been going through these past couple of weeks. It has been some of the most trying times in our lives. There have been plenty of moments of doubt, fear, disappointment, but God has seen us through every step of the way. Through this whole process so far, we clung to having our foundation in our faith and the importance of community. Those two things have been so important to us. Knowing that no matter what happens, God will provide, and God is there for us. We’ve been driven to the feet of Jesus. And we can’t say enough about the support that we’ve had from the people around us. We would not want to walk through this alone. In walking through this, we wanted to show the other side of what people typically see on social media, or anywhere else we share about our lives. Beyond the filters, beyond the highlights, beyond the perfect lighting and staged poses, people have real lives. These lives can be messy and complicated. Just because you don’t have the experience you see of others while scrolling through Instagram, don’t look down on yourself or think less of your own situation. People see the perfect baby photo. We’ve wanted to show the NICU pictures. The captions about what we’re struggling with. Lindsay and I hope that this episode is just encouraging to you. Whatever you may be walking through right now or in the future, lean into that foundation of faith. Embrace the community around you and if you don’t feel like you have one, reach out. You’ve found a community in Leading Second. Run strong this week, Brandon and Lindsay SUBSCRIBE COMMENT LIKE & SHARE We want you in our tribe! You could say Lindsay Stewart was born to be a foodie. Her dad owned a pizza place in Southern California when she was a teen and she got her start there slinging pies. Throughout the years, Lindsay's place was in restaurants working as everything from dishwasher to cocktail server. She found restaurants to be home. Then, in 2014, she decided to share her love of food and restaurants with Las Vegas. She launched The Las Vegas Foodie in mid 2014 and it took off. In the past 6 years, Lindsay's eaten at more than 600+ restaurants, tried thousands of dishes and become the leading foodie in Sin City. She's even started working with restaurants to help them improve their Instagram accounts. Lindsay also recently launched Exclusively Vegas, a new web platform to promote restaurants -- obviously -- and other businesses, to the Vegas market! In this episode, Lindsay dishes on the photo that catapulted her into Instagram fame and what it's like to work in the influencer foodie industry. Plus, we chat about plant-based dining in Vegas, how the Las Vegas dining scene has changed, favorite experiences and so much more.To learn more about Lindsay, check out her Instagram and also visit her new Exclusively Vegas site. For information on The Good Fork, visit Vegans, Baby or follow along on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.Support the show (http://paypal.me/dianaedelman)
Stringr is a marketplace that allows media organizations (such as TV news stations) to buy video from both amateur and professional videographers. The media organizations can preview all footage. If they like what they see, they can immediately download the video. Once they do, you (the videographer) will get paid the next business day! It seems that we are are all glued to 24-hour news channels at the moment, and we are all following the same narrative. As you all know, I like to focus on human stories and learn how people are leveraging technology to show a more positive glimpse into the future. Stringr was started by two friends – one a former news producer and the other a product manager and consultant who started his first company in high school. Lindsay Stewart spent over 10 years in TV news producing segments for ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, and Bloomberg, among others. That's when the idea for Stringr came to her. Lindsay Stewart joins me on today's episode to share her story and how the idea for Stringr came to her working in a busy newsroom. Here in 2020, I learn how Stringr is a hugely successful business thriving in a period of uncertainty by helping independent videographers and media outlets.
Have you ever been on an airplane? If you have, you’ve experienced functional leadership. The flight attendants have authority over you from the second that you step on that airplane. It doesn’t matter how smart you are, how much money you make, or even if you may know more about airplanes than the flight attendants. None of that matters. The flight attendants have been given authority over you for that flight, even though the pilot (or the airline) is the one who is ultimately responsible. In ministry, we will often be tasked with being submitted to a person who has functional authority over us, and we’ll likely have functional authority over somebody as well. How do we handle that tension in a healthy way? Join us for this week’s episode, as we sit down with Brandon and Lindsay Stewart, Kris Seibold, and Joshua Bingle to continue the conversation on the tension of authority vs submission. Head over to our digital magazine for some monthly questions on this tension. https://www.leadingsecond.com/post/authority-vs-submission-discussion-questions SUBSCRIBE COMMENT LIKE & SHARE We want you in our tribe! We're joined by Lindsay Stewart and Pastor Joshua Bingle for a discussion in a new panel format. When leading from the middle, we encounter numerous tensions that we are forced to navigate. However, just because tension exists doesn't mean that there's a problem. Let's learn how to manage tensions well. Discuss these questions with your team: 1. What is the greatest tension you are currently experiencing in your leadership journey? 2. Can you imagine God doing something good through this tension? Write down what you are believing God to do in your life through this situation. 3. The next time you experience this tension, what truth do you want to remember? Write down a verse that speaks truth over your situation, and put it somewhere memorable.

How do we achieve balance in ministry and still get it right as a family, husband/wife, son/daughter, mentor, friend, etc? In this episode, Pastors and Founders of Leading Second, Brandon & Lindsay Stewart, jump into a timely and very relevant discussion on what it means to “ditch balance and embrace rhythm.” What if we said that balance in a full life is a myth?
