Martin Turenne, President and CEO of FPX Nickel (FPX-TSX.V & OTCQB:FPOCF) joins me to discuss the recent production of battery-grade nickel sulphate, from the pilot-scale hydrometallurgy refinery testwork at the Baptist Nickel Project in central BC. This is an upgrade from the 2023 bench-scale testwork.    We discuss the flow sheet for production, which eliminates the smelting stage, thus creating a higher value end product and cutting out a middle man smelting company. I ask how this production factors into the capital estimates to build the project and potential value premiums. We wrap up by looking ahead to the upcoming scoping study expected in the first quarter of next year and how that further de-risks the project.    If you have any follow up questions for Martin please email me at Fleck@kereport.com.   Click here to visit the FPX Nickel website and learn more about the Company and Project.

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of producing a podcast? Today, we peel back the curtain and get into the intricate production process.  Starting at the foundation, we talk about having a booking and client management system to streamline the scheduling process. With tools like High Level, managing booking calendars, intake forms, and automated guest reminders has become an absolute game-changer, ensuring a smooth experience for guests before recording. When it comes to recording, I trust Riverside FM to deliver excellent audio quality, especially when collaborating with remote guests. The ability to separate audio and video tracks for each guest has proven invaluable during the editing phase, ensuring a seamless final product. For editing and crafting show notes, Descript is my go-to tool. By leveraging its transcription capabilities, she can seamlessly edit audio while referring to the transcript. This not only streamlines the editing process but also aids in creating engaging show notes and repurposing content across platforms. When it comes to designing visual content, Canva emerges as a versatile ally, offering an array of templates for artwork, thumbnails, and more. To bring these visuals to life, we turn to CapCut, seamlessly integrating it with Descript for a cohesive content creation workflow. To keep podcast projects organized and on track, I turn to Trello. With different boards for content planning, guest communication, and episode logistics, Trello serves as a visual hub for managing every aspect of the production process. The music production process from songwriting to mastering is a magical one. I couldn't feel more delighted to welcome my producer, Bob McCutcheon, onto the show for a fantastic conversation all about music production. We always have a blast in the studio, so expect our chat to be fun, lighthearted, and insightful. The quote for this episode is by Scott Borchetta: “The reality of recording, it's one of the most intimate things that an artist ever does because if you do it right, you're exposing yourself, and you're expressing your emotions, and those are the key attributes to a big record that really connect with people.” During our amazing conversation, Bob and I talk about authentic music expressing the artist's emotions, the producer's job to interpret what the artist feels and their vision for the song, taking a collaborative approach to production, the songwriting process and key aspects to solidify before recording, the producer's possible roles during the songwriting stage, choosing chords that support the melody and reflect the song's emotion, giving attention to key and tempo, arranging a song from structure to instrumentation, determining the genre and feel of the song, bringing out emotion through instrumentation choices, the importance of reference tracks, the individual roles in the recording studio, tracking digital and live instruments, planning and understanding the song's arc to determine where to add instruments or pull back, focusing on transitions, comping vocals and other instruments, layering vocals, the mixing process, understanding the role each aspect of the song plays in the arrangement and mixing accordingly, finding a balance and a place for everything in the song, doing tuning and timing edits to clean up the tracks, the artist sharing mix notes with the producer, the final polish with mastering and what this step entails, and much more. I'm so glad Bob joined me on the show for such an outstanding discussion about the music production process, so I hope you find it interesting and informative. Are you enjoying Write on Track? We answer frequent questions sent to us over the past few weeks. Dom goes on the offensive over podcast show notes, Matt gets excited about episode artwork, and we debate the perfect length for an episode. Sprinkled between those topics, we discuss sponsorship and the end-to-end process for a show like Business Breakdowns.   For the full show notes, transcript, and links to the best content to learn more, check out the episode page here.    -----   This episode is brought to you by Scribe. Scribe is the presenting sponsor of this episode of Making Media and the magic behind the Colossus transcripts. One of the best decisions we made at Colossus was transcribing all of our audio into a searchable transcript library. We had been using another provider up until the summer of 2022 but we were constantly having issues with accuracy if our audio was just the slightest bit impaired. Whether it's training sessions, internal Q&As, or for media purposes, the value of transcripts is huge. And we are not alone. Scribe is the transcription service that powers all of S&P Global - like CapIQ - and the client list includes our friends at Tegus. Go to joincolossus.com/scribe to unlock 150 minutes of free transcription and test their capabilities.   -----   Making Media is a property of Colossus, LLC.
