Luke Simon is a mystic and longtime collaborator in the sober curious movement, and author of the new book, Venus Juice.I first met Luke when I started attending all kinds of far out healing circles in the mid- 2010s, when he was known as one of the co-founders of the now sadly shuttered Maha Rose Center for the Healing Arts in Brooklyn. A sensitive and artistic soul, Luke's work in the healing space led to him investigating ways to get high on his own supply – and in this episode we discuss why we use alcohol and other substances to get high, when there are so many other ways to access joy and lightness and high vibes. We also talk about the important of self-love and self-acceptance, which includes accepting our mistakes – subjects Luke unpacks in his memoir, Venus Juice, which tells the story of when he tried (and failed) to find love and make it as an Instagram healer in LA. In the episode we discuss:-The “social experiment” of socializing sober.-The aggressive nature of the drinking culture when you're a sensitive person.-Creating sober social spaces where people can feel safe to let loose.-Shifting from wanting to check out and lose ourselves to actively trying to find ourselves.-Drinking as a “get out of my responsibilities for free” card. -Healthy ways to lose control.-Finding your sober friends and being accepted for who you are.-“Laughter yoga”—and other ways to get high on your own supply.-Why we think we need alcohol to have fun as grown-ups.-How to keep reaching for “high vibes” without bypassing the realities of life.-Looking for love in booze and other drugs – and how to love yourself.-The importance of failing and making mistakes.Get your copy of Luke's memoir, Venus Juice: When I Tried to Live in LA, HERE, and follow him on Instagram @lukesimon_mystic.Thanks to Athletic Brewing for partnering on this episode. Meme Master, Luke Simon, expresses his malcontention with the basic-breezy presentation of metaphysics on the internet. He challenges the image of healing as a darker and smarter process than the usual 'blonde lady doing on a mountain top'. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/alese-osborn/support
Hey cousins! Welcome back to another week of soul-centered astrology. Whether you are new to astrology, or are well seasoned, it doesn't matter. Because this show is intended for you to carve out time to be with yourself, through some guided meditation, to learn about and be inspired by the life of someone who is ushering in the New Age with their radical offerings, and then to create dialogue with other Cosmic Cousins who vibe with this astrology vocabulary. So we’re gonna do all that and more on this special episode. So on this special episode, we are honoring the work and life of Pisces Goddess Erykah Badu, as voted on by you all on Instagram, you spoke loud and clear and she won by like 70% of the votes, so we will be talking all the planets in her chart, she’s hella pisces. We will also be talking and meditating a bit on the Pisces New Moon, to give us a little sweet taste of embodied health. And then to round out this episode we have the first ever Cosmic Cousins Astrological Panel, with a dream team Pisces Panel, with a Pisces Sun, Moon, and Rising. We’ve got NYC based Teva Livne, our pisces sun rep, giving us some fierce otherworld pisces vibes through her artwork and outlook, we got Miami based Adrienne Fisher of Meraki Nomad giving us Pisces Moon vibes with her deeply empathetic nature and mystical ritual business offerings, and then of course the high vibe Risces Rising, Luke Simon, reiki master, queer sex magician, mystic musician, Sex Crystals, Softer Image, Pisces Rising King. So all of that and more! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be here with you all for another week, and riding this last wave of Pisces Season. I had originally said the this was gonna be the season finale. But I have exciting news, even though this is a 2.5 hour episode and I planned it to be super epic, like a season finale should be, I got lots of fiery feedback from Aries (big surprise there), being like “WHAT ABOUT ME?!” So, we will do one last episode for this season. The season finale will be NEXT week on Understanding Aries and honoring the Spring Equinox. A few updates from me... I’m Trash Canyon aka Canyon Rainmaker aka Jeff Hinshaw aka Jeph Norman Fox. Yes, I have lots of names, because I have lots of offerings and projects. But it’s all good. One of the offerings I am most excited about is my one-on-one mentorship program. This is a 12-week mentorship program in which we will dive deep into astrology. Each week we will gather through the lens of an astrological sign, going from Aries to pisces. You will learn how to be an astrologer, how to utilize it in your healing practice, how to read others charts, you’ll learn about transits, sextile, trines, conjunctions, progressed astrology, all of it and more. It’s a 12 week deep dive immersive. I also have another offering I am super excited about, for those looking for more of a group therapy vibe format. I am offering a Year Course Called Cosmic Cousins: Astro Soul Journey. Which is a group that meets online twice a month, for a total of 24 gatherings. This starts in April and goes all the way until March of 2019. I also offer private Astro soul .mp3 readings as well, and there’s some new openings up for that. Love you cousins!
It's finale day! We can't believe that season 2 is over and on today's episode we recap the entire 2x20 episode. We talk about: Maia , Luke & Simon at the Seelie Court, The Seelie Queen + Simon, Malec's relationship (duh?), all of the AMAZING action scenes, Clizzy, Clace, The Angel, Valentine's Death, the introduction to a new villain + more! Journalist Jon Snow joins Aasmah Mir and Richard Coles to discuss 25 years of being the face of Channel 4 News. Also on the programme, Luke Simon was living in Thailand when the 2004 Tsunami struck. He lost his brother when the low lying island of Ko Phi Phi was subsumed by sea water. He tells us how life has moved on, about the power of sibling relationships and the charity he set up in his brother's name. The Oscar-winning song Let It Go (from the animated film Frozen) has captivated millions worldwide. It has already been translated into 41 foreign-language versions but not Welsh. 14 yr old Rebekah West set about righting that wrong. And in this season of goodwill we meet a man who was inspired to carry out one good deed a day for 2014. After losing a close family friend, Luke Cameron has spent the last year helping others which has inspired him to move away from a career in fashion to working for a charity. We also hear from some of the cast of RSC's 'The Christmas Truce' on the football coaching they received from Aston Villa's Sean Verity as they re-enact the infamous Christmas Day football match between the Allies and the Germans. Plus the inheritance tracks of Alan Johnson MP, a Christmas Cracker from Miranda Hart and Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy gives us taster of her Christmas Poem. Producer: Alex Lewis Editor: Karen Dalziel.
