On Monday, February 14, 2000, 9-year-old Asha Degree ran away from her home sometime in the early morning hours on a cold, dark rainy night. Later, witnesses would report seeing her walking along the highway, only to be never seen again. Why would a seemingly happy, young girl run away in the middle of the night? Eventually, clues would lead investigators to Asha being abducted in the very early hours of that morning. It was like lightening striking twice. It has been over 20 years since Asha disappeared and is one of the most mysterious and haunting missing person cases ever. Back in the day most people we’re married by the time they were 25. Now, for the first time in history, there are more single people then married. Although we should celebrate being happy regardless if we’re partnered or not, the truth is, most people prefer to have a significant other. The question is, why can’t we seem to connect? And is there a good chance that most people will be single forever? ~ Michael Baisden
What do you think is the ideal age to get married? Is waiting until you’re over 30 always the best idea? People get set in their ways, have children out of wedlock and experience a lot of headache and heartache dating multiple people. And who’s to say you’re going to find that ideal partner in your 40’s and 50’s? Shouldn’t we encourage our children to make finding a quality mate a priority, not just education, career, and sewing their oats? ~ Michael Baisden
We’ve all heard the same advice about how to successfully hold on to our partners, “You have to do what it took to get them if you want to keep them.” To me that means, staying in shape, keeping yourself well groomed, putting in the time to call, date, and make sure the passion doesn’t fizzle out in the bedroom. But the question is, do most people put in the work or do they get lazy? ~ Michael Baisden
Physical abuse is terrible and shouldn’t be tolerated but verbal abuse can be just as bad, if not worse. And the impact can last a lifetime. Being told by an abuser, you’re ugly, you’re stupid, and no one will ever want you, is a common tactic they use to control you. Don’t fall for it! They’re trying to cover up their own insecurity. ~ Michael Baisden
When a married man or woman has a child with the side piece, it’s seen as the ultimate betrayal. Not only will the child be a constant reminder of the infidelity but also a reminder of his or her recklessness with their partner’s health and the financial well-being of the family. How do you learn to trust again, or is this unforgivable? ~ Michael Baisden
Women today are living their best lives, they’re starting businesses, working out, and traveling the world, so why not have the confidence to initiate a conversation or date? Let’s be honest, some women are afraid of rejection, and that’s understandable. But if you want to improve your odds of finding Mr. Right or just meeting great guys, then it makes sense to do the choosing and not just lay back and wait on the ideal partner to come to you. That’s my opinion, what do you think? ~ Michael Baisden
If your partner doesn’t love you or themselves enough to work towards good health, then you have a very important decision to make. Your health impacts your quality of life in terms of having energy to do things, sex life, and overall positive attitude. Not to mention prescription drugs and hospital bills can ruin you financially even with health insurance. I think it’s important to have compatible lifestyles in terms of diet, exercise, and getting checkups. What do you think? ~ Michael Baisden
Having a woman be submissive is not something that should be negotiated and debated, not for a responsible, mature, and hardworking man. Either the woman is raised to be submissive, or she involves into being submissive once the man demonstrates that he's reliable, capable, responsible, and consistent. OR she doesn't have a submissive nature or mentality! ~ Michael Baisden
Admitting you want and need a man doesn’t make you weak…it just means you’re being honest with yourself. Don’t allow your man less friends transfer that, “I don’t need a man!” attitude onto you. I know some women will get technical about the word, “need” but that’s okay. I think everyone understands that’s it’s not a weakness to admit you need something to make your life better. ~ Michael Baisden
Why can’t some of our friends, family and our partner stand to see you be successful? I’ll you why, insecurity! People who are confident want to see you fly but insecure people want to keep you down so you don’t remind them of how lazy and unsuccessful they are. ~ Michael Baisden
There's nothing more unattractive than insecurity. It can damage and destroy an otherwise good relationship. The remedy for insecurity is simple, be honest with youThere's nothing more unattractive than insecurity. It can damage and destroy an otherwise good relationship. The remedy for insecurity is simple, be honest with yourself and start working on those issues and also being straight up with your partner, friends, family, etc... about the source of the insecurity and working it out. But because people lack the integrity and communication skills to resolve issues, insecurities are allowed to fester and destroy the foundation of trust in the relationship. When that happens is O-V-E-R! That's my opinion. Atlanta-based singer Rhonda Thomas has become a favorite in the new Soul music scene, and for good reason. She's paid her dues over the last decade backing such artists as Isaac Hayes, India.Arie and others, and has captivated audiences during her sporadic solo stints as well as her participation in one of the most enjoyable new recording groups around. Possessing a deep, soulful voice that is most reminiscent of Maysa (with whom she has occasionally performed), Thomas scored a hit in the UK with her 1999 EP Rhonda. She followed in 2004 with Breathe New Life, a jazzy soul album that included a handful of very attractive cuts and which achieved notice both in America and Europe. It peaked at #3 on Listmania's Top Nu-Soul on the Net chart. It also received notice from syndicated radio host Michael Baisden, who featured Thomas on his show, introducing her to a larger urban music audience. “Wow, a human voice singing songs of substance. Not to knock anybody else but, this kind of presentation is missed by the mature music lover and should be a study by the younger generation. Hats off to production, musicianship, arrangement, vocals and don't miss the lyrics, it's a breath of fresh air. You go Rhonda!” –Isaac Hayes This review is from: Amazon.com Rhonda's incredible range and lush voice coupled with masterful production makes "Listen" a dynamic musical voyage! This is a SOUL ALBUM perfectly balanced with gospel influences on "Unmerited Favor", R&B
