A native of Erwin, Tennessee, Dave grew up in a family that enjoyed making music. Dave is the author of 15 piano albums including his famous album titled “Rachel's Songs” that is playing right now. This song is the inspiration behind his new book titled “Touched by Music” Over the years, Dave has written over 120 songs of soft, soothing, and relaxing instrumental music that has touched the lives of millions around the world In episode 6 titled “Are you ready to start your own business” we mentioned that a good business model is to sell your expertise and we mentioned that Malcolm Gladwell states in his book titled “Outliers” that it takes 10 years full time to become an expert. Well, Dave and I share a passion; playing the piano but Dave is a true expert. He has been playing since he was 5 years old. Dave is one of the lucky ones who made a business out of his passion and expertise. But it was not out of sheer luck, Dave crafted a smart business model and tested it with a single store before scaling up and selling his albums in over 1000 stores. At that point, he was able to dedicate himself to music full time. Listen to Dave share his incredible business journey and let his Passion for music inspire you! (Ex.17:8-13;   Ps.121:1-8;   2Tm.3:14-4:2;   Lk.18:1-8)  “Call out to Him day and night.” How faithful is the Lord.  How true is He.  As our psalmist so well states, “He neither slumbers nor sleeps.”  Indeed, “He is beside [us] at [our] right hand”; always “the Lord will guard [us] from all evil” – “The Lord will guard your coming and your going, both now and forever.”  But are we so faithful to Him, turning to Him for His eternal help? “Pray always without becoming weary.”  This is our instruction today.  This is the “wisdom for salvation” sacred Scripture brings us.  Do we receive the “correction” and “training for righteousness” it would impart?  Do as Jesus asks: “Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says.”  Though he “neither fear[s] God nor respect[s] any human being,” yet because of the widow's persistence, he renders a just decision for her.  And do you think God will not hear and answer us when we call out to Him?  Do you think He is so “slow to answer”?  Rather, “He will see to it that justice is done… speedily,” for ever He waits for us to turn to Him; always He longs to do justice for us – it is His great joy to answer our prayers. Learn from our reading from the Book of Exodus.  It informs us, “As long as Moses kept his hands raised up, Israel had the better of the fight, but when he let his hands rest, Amalek had the better of the fight.”  And it was not until Aaron and Hur supported him and “his hands remained steady till sunset” that “Joshua mowed down Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”  And so the sword of the Spirit shall not truly be our own, we will not truly be victorious in the battle against sin, until we remain always in the presence of the Lord, until we, like Him, no longer slumber or sleep. Brothers and sisters, “proclaim the Word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient,” as Paul exhorts us.  In sacred Scripture and the power of the Spirit we find our source for right living; by it we become “equipped for every good work.”  And consistently good works are found by us only if our prayer is consistent and good.  Only if we remain steady and persistent in our calling out to Him at all times will He “not suffer [our] foot to slip.”  Let us “lift up [our] eyes toward the mountains,” seeing always whence our help comes.  The Lord prays for us always; let us join Him in prayer. Written, read & chanted, and produced by James Kurt. Music: "Over the Stumbling Block" from Cleansing Human Frailty, fourth album of Songs for Children of Light, by James Kurt. ******* O LORD, may you find faith in our hearts, and perseverance in doing your will. YHWH, we must but be persistent, persistent in our prayer and in our work for you, and we shall find your blessing – all our enemies will be conquered and we will dwell forever with you. We look to you, O LORD, for you alone are our strength and our salvation, you alone guard us from all evil and equip us well for battle.  In you and in your Word we take our refuge, and so we find the wisdom we need to attain to your glory.  Quickly you come to answer our pleas, for your heart is ever set on our salvation. O may your arms be ever raised to bless us!  May your love for us remain always steady, and we remain steady with you.  Let us not grow weary in the battle of earthly life but continually find our inspiration in you, always ready to do your will.  Hear us as we call upon you this day, O LORD, and justice shall be ours.

Michelle Schultz is a 23-year-old singer/song-writer from Delta, BC. She is a classically trained pianist, receiving her grade 10 certificate in the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of 17. A major part of Michelle's music career has been singing national anthems for several sporting and charity events. Michelle sings regularly for several teams in the BCHL and WLA, as well as for the WHL Vancouver Giants. In January 2014, Michelle was chosen to be one of the official singers for the NLL Vancouver Stealth lacrosse team. She has further sung for the AHL Abbotsford Heat, CFL BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps and NHL Vancouver Canucks. Other special events include fundraisers that feature Canuck Alumni players, the AAA High School Boys Basketball Provincials, Cops for Cancer fundraisers, benefits for the PoCoMo Youth Services Society, and many more. Aside from anthems, Michelle has performed at several local bars, open mics, and talent shows/competitions, some of which include The Terminal Pub, Joe's Apartment, The Roxy, and much more. She has further sung during intermissions at many BCHL and WLA games, including doing acoustic sets of originals and covers with an accompanying guitar player. Michelle has worked as a sessional vocalist for many local artists by singing harmonies, background vocals, as well as feature lead parts on these recordings. She is currently in the process of recording her debut album. Michelle further maintains active community involvement, especially through fundraising. In 2012, Michelle raised over $3500 for Cops for Cancer (while running for the title of Miss BC 2012), over $2000 for the BC Children's Hospital Child Run since 2010, and has also volunteered and raised money for BC Cancer Research on several occasions. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys modeling, baking, staying active and spending time with her family and friends.About Michelle's Music:Over the last several years, Michelle has been working towards developing and finding her own “sound” within music. In March 2012, Michelle released her first pop single, “This Time”. However, shortly after this, Michelle auditioned to be the new lead singer of local rock band Innocent Bystander (one of the “gold” winners in the 2008 Fox Vancouver Seeds competition). After auditioning 22 other singers, the band finally stumbled upon Michelle, and they were eager for her to join their project. Although the members are no longer together, they were able to write a catalogue of originals, many of which Michelle continues to perform today. At this point in time, Michelle is no longer performing rock music, as she felt this genre was not a good representation of who she is as a person and musician. She is now taking her many influences (which include Michelle Branch, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, and Avril Lavigne, to name a few) and creating music that can be classified within a pop-rock-country genre. Many of her songs are written about personal life experiences, where she strives to write lyrics that connect with her listeners. Michelle has further received several comments on how she is able to tell a story through her music, and that her listeners are able to relate their own experiences. Even if only one person is able connect with each song, Michelle considers this to be a success.
