Welcome to the WORLD'S GREATEST PODCAST (about video games). In topic TIME, Time, time...Chris updated us on Avowed and his Wizard build has changed the game, in a good way. Shaun effed up a save for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. It matters because he is 6 trophies away from a plat. Ouch. He also is almost done with Assassin's Creed: III. Jon is enjoying just looking at games on his shiny new PS5 Pro. So, with that said - what are YOU playing?!?! Why not email us?! Speaking of EMAILS! ✨ Shadowbinders Pin Set Campaign - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nydaria/shadowbinders-steampunk-fantasy-hard-enamel-pin-set-series-1 It took Disney SIX YEARS to add Luke Skywalker -- the main character of Star Wars -- and R2-D2 to Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland. SIX YEARS. Then we talk about another Lucasfilm lawsuit.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was good...until it wasn't. That's not entirely true. It never got bad, per se, it just went on and on for way too long, wearing out its welcome multiple times over. The real kicker, though--the thing that made me go from liking Survivor to (kind of) hating it--is the story--one specific aspect in particular. I won't spoil anything in this text description, but the same can't be said about this episode, so if you don't want to be spoiled, avoid this until you've played the game yourself. All I'll say is, when one character turned out to be bad, I wasn't surprised; however, when something else happened, you better believe I was surprised (and not in a good way).
Thanks in large part to my Star Wars rewatch journey of 2025, but also because I overall enjoyed my time with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, I returned to Cal Kestis and his adventures in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While a lot of things are the same, there are key differences that make Survivor feel like its own game, including much larger and open areas, fast travel (thank god), and a better and more interesting cast of characters, as well as just a fleshing out the characters we met in Fallen Order. We'll see if Survivor manages to top Fallen Order when all is said and done, but, for now, so far so good.
On this episode Matt and Jon remember the life and work of David Lynch (1946-2025), then talk about Wallace and Grommit: Vengeance Most Fowl, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, American Primeval, the Abbott Elementary/It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover, while Jon watched Jerry Springer, Upgrade and SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, then Matt saw The Last Showgirl, Breaking Bad, and finished Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Show Notes On this week's podcast, Dan and Kris catch up with the Alphabet Soup-er Series! It was Kris's pick for the letter S, and he went with Silent Debuggers for TurboGrafx-16. It's certainly an interesting game that makes a heck of a first impression, but was there enough under the hood to gain it a good rating? Let's find out! At the top of the show, Dan lost his eyelashes, which results in far more gross eye goop than one might expect. He also misses eating sushi a whole lot, but at least he got to put a whole heck of a lot of time into Hades! Meanwhile, Kris took a skeleton on a date in Undertale, played an incredibly janky version of Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, bought a new vacuum, and ate an absurdly tall breakfast sandwich. Finally, in Week Old News, it was again an incredibly quiet week, as is wont to happen in January. But the folks who made Anton Blast are happy, the folks who made Apple Vision Pro are sad, and the Toxic Avengers finally get an update. Enjoy! In today's Daily Fix: BioWare's Dragon Age: The Veilguard has had a successful launch so far, with praise from critics and fans, and a solid debut on Steam's top games list based on concurrents. In other news, Grand Theft Auto Online for PC is getting a big update next year. This will put that version in line with what's offered in the current-gen consoles. Get bonus episodes on Patreon! What is Star Wars? This question lies at the heart of our discussion, and we think at the heart of every Star Wars project in any medium. Cam has a novel (and possible stupid) new answer to this question, and this episode tracks the cascade of epiphanies about the Star Wars franchise that were sparked by his recent playthrough of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. We're talking about identity crises and some light color theory, and westerns and space fantasy, but more importantly, there's a character in the game named Turgle who kinda looks like Maggie. Look it up. LINKS: Patreon, YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, Cam's stories Feedback & Theories: secondbreakfastpod@gmail.com

And Aubrey checks out for a bit while Andrew and Jon geek out about Marvel Snap. We're pleased to present to you a decidedly old-school-coded episode of Sacred Symbols, recorded in the traditional 1v1 fashion. And we've plenty to keep us busy, starting with Sony's quarterly financials showing a thriving games division hampered by slowing console sales. But with PS5 Pro around the corner (and the inevitable first true price cut for the core hardware), can we count on things picking up once more? Meanwhile, as we've long-assumed, Santa Monica Studio is indeed working on a new IP, its first since the original God of War launched in 2005 (and only its second, period). When can we expect its reveal? Plus: Our first look at The Last of Us on HBO's second season, PC specs for God of War: Ragnarok, the closure of one-time Sony second party Ready at Dawn, PlayStation 4 still drawing ports like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor after 11 years, and more, followed by listener inquiries. What are our expectations for Insomniac's Wolverine? Can the heyday of Guitar Hero and Rock Band after be recaptured? Could The Last of Us Online quickly have become Sony's most expensive game ever? Did Dustin's absence inadvertently cause the Japanese stock market crash? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. In the ongoing theme for 2024 being terrible for video game industry workers, Bungie lays off over 200 employees due to company leadership being 'overly ambitious' per their terrible CEO Pete Parsons, while Gamestop shuts down Game Informer completely and lays off the staff. Star Wars Jedi Survivor gets a release date for PS4 and Xbox One. We also go over Circana numbers for June 2024 where Elden Ring rises to the top just in time for the DLC. #bungie #sony #Gamestop #gameinformer #starwars #circana #videogames #allyoucangeek
