A little later that we anticipated due to home renovations throwing off our schedule but here is our Halloween Special. Leiann and I talk about an episode the Halloween episode of Living Single called "Trick or Trust" as well as an episode of Married...with Children titled "Damn Bundys" that didn't air on Halloween but it has Robert Englund as The Devils so it still counts. Our friends Uncle Ron from Uncle Ron's Entertainment Showcase and Sully from the Jacked Up Review Show Podcast also helped us out with some clips talking about Halloween specials they enjoy as well. No matter who is saying this to you, it almost certainly communicates their defense of the their religious and social views on the grounds that they have their origins in the Bible. But is this always the case? Is this how Christian identity actually takes shape? In this episode, Dan argues that it's not, and looks at what this claim to “speak where the Bible speaks” is really doing. Bible Reading: Matthew 5:13-16Zebb leaned forward as he and his family traveled through the African game reserve. His excitement at seeing animals in their natural habitats was rapidly being replaced by frustration. "There's a springbok!" said their guide, pointing out the window. "Where?" Zebb strained to look in the direction the guide had indicated. "I don't see it." He plopped back in his seat. "Why am I the only one who can't spot any animals even after someone tells me where to look?""It's because they blend in so well with the trees and grass," said Mom. "But I'm sure you'll learn to spot the animals soon.""I don't know," said Zebb. "If I had to depend on hunting them for food, I think I'd starve to death." He managed a weak smile.Dad grinned at him. "God gave wild animals effective camouflage, didn't He? That's just the opposite of the way He wants us to be."Zebb rolled his eyes. "Dad! No riddles right now. I'm having enough trouble trying to see the animals!""I think Dad is talking about Christians," said Mom. "He's saying that God doesn't want us to lead camouflaged lives.""You got it!" Dad said. "God wants to shine His light, His love, and His good news to the world through us. He wants others to see Jesus by the way we live."Zebb stared into the distance. "You're thinking about us going to Uncle Ron's house next week, aren't you?" Zebb knew his uncle didn't believe in Jesus.Dad nodded. "I'm praying that Uncle Ron will see Jesus in us and decide he wants to get to know Him himself. Sometimes it can feel daunting to share the love of Jesus with others, but God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us. I'm praying He'll work through us to show Uncle Ron what Jesus is like and give us an opportunity to share the truth with him.""Me too," said Zebb. Just then, he saw a flicker of movement near a tree. He focused all his attention on the spot and finally made out a shape. "I see a giraffe--no, a whole bunch of giraffes--in those trees over there!" Zebb beamed triumphantly. "Finally!" Looking at his dad, he said, "I hope people--especially Uncle Ron--won't have as much trouble seeing Jesus when they look at us." –Linda AvalloneHow About You?Is it easy for others to see Jesus in you? Do the things you do and say reflect what Jesus would do and say if He were living on earth today? Trust Him to use your life to show those around you what He's like. Don't camouflage the fact that you know Jesus. Let others see that you have His Spirit in you and want to follow Him in all you do.Today's Key Verse:I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes. (NLT) (Romans 1:16 )Today's Key Thought:Let others see Jesus in you

Brad and Dan ask her about the cultural significance of God rock and the ways that it reflects White evangelicalism's ideal family, gender roles, and sexual ethic. They all also tell hilarious stories of their own youthful experiences with Christian music - including the time Dan broke a dude's nose in a mosh pit and then prayed it out with him as a good brother in Christ. In the second hour, they turn to the Trump immunity trial and the ways it is threatening to tank the Jack Smith case and erode our democracy from within. Dan then does a deep dive into a report about trans care coming out of the UK - something that will make its way across the pond soon to the ears of every Uncle Ron in the country. After a more than disappointingly dull game versus Preston where neither side appeared to turn up we pour over the performance and the position the club currently sits in with no threat of promotion or relegation – plus we talk a lot about food – which says a lot about the lack of incident during the afternoon.Mike shares his thoughts on Rajovic and Wedding Food tasting, Justin joins to talk about a steward chasing a balloon, Uncle Ron comes on and debates with Peter what was worse home form – the current season or that 11 game losing streak in the Premier League! Ron asks - where is the club currently going.Wendover joins us to talk about takeaway curry, eggs and spinach before Alan's thoughts are that Wendover bottled it – describing Greg's Dhansak (the George Graham of curries) as the “Chris Wilder” option having promised something new and then gone for the tried and tested! Alan is also quite unsure as to how to take a compliment from Uncle Ron! COYH!!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. PART ONE of the fan reaction following a very tepid display against Cardiff who took all three points back down the M4. Rich is very upset so we let him rant to avoid taking the mood into Mrs WFC2's birthday evening, Uncle Ron is in a car somewhere in Florida and is as you might imagine, Wendover wants to "two up" which was and wasn't an innuendo, Danny says play the kids at Southampton whilst Nellie who is usually so positive feels really flat, not having seen the result or the performance coming and Charlie asks should we be looking at the future with more wariness!COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Alan chooses to focus on the positives in that Pollock is getting his chance and seems intent on proving his worth and cementing a place in the starting eleven and looking at the away form which is unbeaten in seven! Pete calls out the number of central midfielders is below the “two players for each position” threshold leaving TDB and Kone looking very leggy which whilst still working hard did affect the quality of their use of the ball.Wendover agrees that the players looked tired and asks why the transfer window has not been used to inject some fresh legs and energy into the squad. Always keen on a transfer window, Wendover fears that the hype over Dennis suggests that he might be the only incoming in the window (with 24 hours to go as we spoke).Caity joins us and points out that both Sema and Dennis are forced to play because of the lack of depth when they are clearly no where near 100% fit, Paul observes how once again Ben Hamer has won us a point with another outstanding display and asks why top players can play two games in a week and not look as tired. He further asks if our way of playing is further exacerbating the psychological element of “feeling” tired. Not convinced by either Bayo or Rajovic with the window closing asks what have Manga, Giaretta and Nani been doing? Paul is also dismissive of talk of building for next year as parachute money will be gone as loaned against already – might we be forced to sell Asprilla & Andrews and reverting to the Watford style of existence we had prior to the Pozzo takeover? However Paul is convinced that Val is, for all his faults, the right man to lead us next season too.Uncle Ron joins us and says if Gino has lost interest or if Watford has fallen down his list of priorities that he should sell and compares our situation to Newcastle under Mike Ashley. John joins us and offers “ying” to Ron's “yang” (or vice versa) and looks on the positive side and looks through the squad and thinks we have enough until Pete points out the midfield numbers are below the level of 2 for each position.COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. PART TWOIan joins us having enjoyed the game and hails TDB as MOTM but thinks overall – we got away with one there. Rajovic potential is agreed with. Chris joins us and feels we had a “big Ken shaped hole” in the team and squad. We talk about the team never putting the ball over the top because there seem to be no runners from midfield looking to run beyond the central forward. Chris feels guilty about calling Rajovic out when not scoring and we wonder if the management can develop those other parts that are missing from his game in open play outside the box – fingers crossed!Maximillian Sam joins us from Turkey, and we cover amongst other things turtles, Besiktas and Turkish supporters' intensity. Pete tries to press gang Chris into being the DNSYE Turkish ambassador, but this role might be going to an attractive Besiktas supporter (this is a level of shallow we at DNSYE are happy to co-operate with). Mal isn't feeling well and compares himself to our first half and warns us that we need to defend better when it comes to QPR next weekend.Neil joins us with news that the 321 bus now meanders apparently. The half time turn around seems to have been inspired by some Mica Paris lyrics before putting his money where his mouth is and offering to pay for Uncle Ron's air and match ticket to come and watch Morris at the ground to see how good he is.Five word and long forms and haikus are as brilliant as always.COYH!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. PART ONE RichWFC2 joins us after an afternoon of remembering not just Graham Taylor but also Chesterfields John Duncan and Captain Tom Sawyer with an emotional contribution from Luther and Tom's father Martin accompanied by Tom's mum Sue. A poignant day.Looking at the football Rich calls out the differences in the two halves and asks if the “TDB at right-back experiment” could please end now. Playing against (an admittedly very good) 5th tier side he bemoans the lack of effort displayed in that first 45 minutes. Uncle Ron joins us and calls out Daniel Bachmanns performance and calls for fullback replacements in the market as well as calling for two to play upfront at home and sees hope for Rajovic if he were part of a pair.Wendover joins us impressed with Chesterfield with Mrs W and finally tells us about the time he tried to cook – it's a sizzling tale of fractions, water, Uncle Bens mix and oxo cubes!!! Mike joins us after a Voices of The Vic gathering of the clan in the bunker earlier and commends TDB for his performance in midfield just as we need a midfielder as we missed Kayembe in the first half.Blue Cheese Brett tells us about Argentinian Hornets, the word “munted” and tales of Japanese dentists being an analogy for todays game – but it's Brett so who really knows what t was about!!!???COYH!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. After some short technical difficulties Pete says that he didn't think we hit the highs, or the lows of the Norwich game and Rich disagrees calling it the best and most complete 90 minute performance all the better for the quality of the opposition, Uncle Ron joins us to confirm his change of heart in relation to Jake Livermore but sees Hamer's performance and calmness as a reason why Bachmann should not get the shirt again. John Takanade joins us from Dubai where their winter is not quite Hull standard but still felt the warmth from the performance but raises concerns over the depth of the squad and potential injuries. and the AFCON coming up in January! Pete is impressed with Rajovic's hold up play, but John warns that it mustn't be at the expense of what he does inside of the penalty box (John even brings up Trevor Senior and Andre Gray as examples of strikers who worked hard but failed to hit the net enough).Jack joins us from the US with a sore throat which doesn't stop him acclaiming Ryan Porteous who put in a very solid performance following a good showing against Norwich (after that initial 25-minute period).John Parslow, taking a short afternoon break from Backgammon in order to watch the game and dance around the living room with his dad, and praises a cameo performance from Tom Ince who along with a defensive adjustment negated the threat of Hull's Jaden. Furthermore, John points out that another player enjoying an up turn in his performances – Kayembe may be lost for January with the upcoming AFCON tournament.Wendover is in a musical mood accompanied by Colin warmed by heated seats and 3 points and the fact that they are on the Watford FC website this evening. Greg points out the togetherness of the group and the part that Livermore is playing in proceedings before he and Colin give us a rendition of the new Ben Hamer song!!COYH!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Rich joins us very upset at the team performance and attitude displayed by the Hornets up in Yorkshire, Neil observes that Ismael does have a “plan B” switching to 3-5-2 at halftime but sees the silly goals given away but eulogises over the third Leeds goal as a well-crafted goal, We discuss what is the expectation for this squad from the fans and more importantly within the club itself.Uncle Ron joins and, on request, pulls out some positives including effort and heart but moves on to criticise the regime but back the manager and even say he is “overachieving” with what he is working with. Tim phones in from the M1 southbound having been Elland Road and echoes Ron's thoughts wanting to see more pride in the shirt. Seeing Bachmann's much praised performance as “just doing his job” – he wants to see more cohesion feeling the QPR and Birmingham wins are the outliers in terms of performance.Pete talks about Hornet fan Mark O'Brien attempting a world record effort for Motor Neurone Disease Charities a disease he suffers with. Steve and (very briefly Mal) join us from the road hoping for a shorter trip back but very happy to have finally got the win, Charlie joins us to go through both the pro's and the con's of the performance but really wanting to see a complete 90 minutes from Martins, Carlos returns from holiday with heart stopping tales of Pina Colada's, Mike joins us to ensure that we know he will be consoling his Birmingham supporting friends (which is a very nice thing to do!)Paul tells us of the story of his “Ruddy Redemption”, before Uncle Ron joins us to confirm a good result but not enjoying the game and hoping that Jamal Lewis's promising first outing will the loanee keep out James Morris who Ron doesn't believe is up to Championship football.Chatting Blues joins us feeling that Luton supporting Keith Stroud was harsh on them with 7 bookings and sending off (to yellow) as opposed to one for Watford despite a fairly even foul count.Wendover joins to point out that the types of fouls made by the visitors justified the bookings but wants to see Watford moving the ball quicker in transition but very happy with the result and the fact that he is having a Chinese takeaway this evening. We hear from Richard a tale about the game but also about his and his family issues with the new bag size limit and the way it was enforced. The discussion moves on to his nephew's experience as with all young supporters and ensuring that the experience is a positive one. We hear from Alan who is positive about things despite a sense that the manager will inevitably moved on and therefore refuses to get emotionally attached to him, Brett asks why Louza might not have been disciplined in a another way rather than dropping him from the starting eleven (following 2 late arrivals for training) but also wants to know what clothes he should wear at the next game as he seems convinced his clothing is cursed!Uncle Ron joins to the strains of Chas and Dave and tells us this week why there is no pleasing him – unimpressed with Valball and comparing the squad for that in the early 1990's (with an honourable exception of Matheus Martins). Unimpressed with Mileta Rajovic's first 30 minutes or so in a Watford shirt – he is in favour of him having some assistance and playing two upfront.Wendover joined and his usual positivity was balanced with a frustration that we say we have played ok but again failed to take anything from the game and is looking (as ever) to the end of the transfer window and hoping for improvements and re-enforcements.Alex thinks things will work out we need to be patient pointing out that the performance and identity are better this season even if the results are less so (in the same period as last season), Paul joins us to implore the Watford supporters to get behind during the game no matter what their position on all things political at the club, Jack feels that Louza (dropped from the starting line up) should have been dropped all together before Pete bangs on about Kone's hair band, Mike joins to pour over proceedings Pete gets him to inhabit Valerien Ismael for three minutes and tell us what he would have done at half time (believe it or not we didn't even make an innuendo about this!!!)COYH!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. No one, it is said expects the Spanish inquisition - but NO ONE expected this!!! 33 seconds and 1-0 to the good and 4-0 up at half time!!!! Wow!!We all reconvene for the first match at the Vic and the first Post Match Phone In after thrilling performance against the R's who did the double over us last term. Yes the opposition weren't good and we mustn't get carried away - there will be stiffer tests this season and we are still short in the squad - but bloomin 'eck this was fun!!!Thoughts on Louza, the Crow, full backs who cut inside, Pat Butcher really delivering a performance with not a single new signing in the starting line up are thrown in and we discuss if Georgi Chekvetadze should be known as "Dave".Welcome back everybody - we'll have down days so lets enjoy the ups!!! Its (sort of) local rivals QPR coming to the Vic for the opener because their pitch isn't ready – we ask all the important questions like – where do old scarfs and shirts actually go, why has Justin got a QPR shirt and does that make him a traitor, how do QPR fans remember former Hornets player and manager Glenn Roeder who played for Rangers in the early 80's, how is Gareth Ainsworth considered after the 5-0 Oxford United pre-season defeat, why is it Watford who always get them going if only for one game, we try to work out who has had the worst closed season in terms transfers, have QPR signed Meghan Fox and why do Stoke and Brum seem to have money? What is the point of FFP if you're a small club, what's Pete's favourite niche horse race, how will the League 1 promoted teams do this season – and who in the hell is Joe Gubbins?!?Pete makes a complete porridge of the newly formatted Prediction league and Justin is apoplectic that he might not be allowed to select 1-1 all season for every game, John Parslow rolls some dice, Carl tries to complicate everything but is roundly ignored, and despite all protestations Justin picks 1-1!!!!With the prediction league out of the way we talk our team kits and whether we like the newly launched shy blue 3rd kit and the 85th anniversary of the Beano and why QPR's second kit is a tribute to the comic!COYH!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. With the season kick off on Saturday we ease back into Twitter Space world (to ensure that Elon hasn't broken everything) and ask questions about semi final goal scorers, away kits, is it Ismael or Val (Pete still doesnt know!), why is everyone so upset that other people might think something different, why is pre season almost all behind closed doors these days, do we think we will sign anyone before the first game - or the end of the transfer window. Pete bangs on about the Ashes and Justin couldn't care less. The boys get together in order to fail to answer questions submitted, have a look at the 5 word reviews for the closed season so far, talk about the Borehamwood game that some saw and the Arsenal game that was played behind closed doors, the gaps in the squad, the players released, what we suspect might be a strong championship, balancing costs/wages vs being competitive, is sharing starters or chips socially acceptable? Is Bachmann a good fit for Valball? We discuss the Wendover curse might be and decide to award the Indian take-away enthusiast 2 curses. A collective ignorance about “Love Island” but a worrying enthusiasm for cheese graters. How do you solve a problem live Ismaila? Does culture impact on the injury list? Penny pinching and release clauses? You had me at “Putrid”, Xisco's new job and an owner who wont stop talking, Pete goes through Borehamwood in detail as he saw it, home and away heroes having shirts delivered by Watford legends, trying to change Ken Sema's image and reputation, Pete's ill-fated trip to Barnsley via Harrogate, Leeds and Sheffield, Pete's ill-fated attempt at a Yorkshire accent, Justin confuses the 90's and the 80's. Pete gets carried away in a fit of self-righteousness and decides to make a stone tablet of the 7 commandments for social media to help preserve peoples mental health before he goes on holiday (which judging by the 7 commandments – he clearly needs!)We discuss the “At our place” and the From the Rookery End live podcast coming in March and finally give news about the forthcoming fantasy league plus Carl's new element – Super Six League!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Bible Reading: Luke 15:11-24Grant didn't mind helping out on his uncle's farm. Some parts of the job were even fun. But there were a few things his uncle asked him to do that Grant could do without--like taking care of the pigs."They're just so messy," Grant said after helping his uncle feed the pigs.Uncle Ron laughed. "They are messy," he agreed. "You know what they always make me think about?""Not me, I hope!" Grant made a face. "I'm not that stinky and messy."Uncle Ron laughed again and led him toward the house. "No, not you. They make me think about the parable of the prodigal son in the Bible. Do you remember it?""Sort of," Grant said. They went inside and washed up, and then his uncle grabbed his Bible from the shelf in the living room. "Jesus told a story about a young man who wanted to get away from home. He asked his dad for his inheritance--the money he would get when his dad passed away--and he took it and left."Grant sat down and nodded. "He did some bad things with the money and ended up poor really quickly, right?""He did," Uncle Ron said. "But do you remember what happened to make him realize that he could go back to his father and ask for forgiveness?"Grant shook his head."He was taking care of pigs." Uncle Ron smiled. "He was hungry enough to eat what he was feeding them. Then he realized that his father's servants had a better life than him and decided to ask his dad if he could be like one of them."Uncle Ron opened the Bible and pointed out the story. "But when he returned home to ask his dad to let him come back as a servant, his father ran out and hugged him, and he forgave him and took him back as a son. Just like God forgives us when we make mistakes and loves us as His sons and daughters.""I'm never going to look at the pigs the same way again," Grant said."You're going to enjoy feeding them now?" Uncle Ron asked.Grant wrinkled his nose. "Well, they still stink," he said. "But it might not be quite so bad." -Bethany AckerHow About You?Have you ever been near pigs? They're really messy, aren't they? After the prodigal son in Jesus's parable spent all his money and had to take care of pigs to survive, he realized his life was really messy too. But his father forgave him, just like God forgives us. God loves you, and He will always love you, no matter what. Go to Him for forgiveness, and He will welcome you home as His beloved child.Today's Key Verse:You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. (NIV) (Psalm 86:5)Today's Key Thought:God forgives and loves us

We look back on Chris Wilder's short tenure without very much to admire on the pitch but appreciate the managers candour and honesty in terms of the lack of cohesion which was a theme throughout the season. Andrew describes some conversations with the former Sheff United Manager about his thoughts on the games, the team and the club and of course the reaction post Luton on April fools day.We talk about the convoluted Ben Manga interview (which involved much interpretation!) and the move away from "agent based" recruitment to a model based on actually scouting players! (D'ya think!?!) Manga's response to the name of a certain agent seems emphatic but we here that he is still about the place. Andrew explains his concern at the initial comments made by Valerien Ismael and looks forward to probing the former Barnsley manager moving forward. Eyes will be on the transfer activity and Andrew gives his view as to how much activity we might see.Penultimately we make Andrew play the "One Word Squad comment" game before discussing the Watford Observer, subscriptions and of course what would an "Ollie Phillips" and "Andrew French" set menu's contain in an Indian restaurant!Andrew is always great fun so do support the Wobbly Obs if you possibly can!! We talk with Andrew about following the team all over the country and segue of twitter and Friday Night curries, we criticise the combination of Curry, chips and prawn cocktails (including brown bread triangles), we dissect Slaven Bilic's reign, our lack of consistency linked to the culture in place and Andrew's discussions and reflections of the Croatians time at the club. The up and down of the emotions before, during and after the home Derby win and which Carry On film Nathan Jones should have starred in.We chat through the youngsters and the transfer window leading to a feeling of disconnection between what the manager had asked for and what he got before the ultimate disconnect as discuss Slaven's eventual departure. We also hear about the legend that really wasn't - Manaj!!! We hear how long it took Chris Wilder to realise that the job was bigger than he had realised. We then start the examination of the mens team season looking back to interviews last pre season when a new head coach looked to signal a change in direction and then the about turn that followed shortly after, we find out Andrew's view of proceedings and his thoughts on all things Watfordy including the in/out scenario of a certain Butterfly enthusiast!Part Two Coming soon as we look towards the Bilic era.....COYH!!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not ScratchYour Eyes. Ahead of the Promotion Play Off final Justin, and Pete talk to Player of Season Megan Chandler about how she first got into football, how she developed her game via the Charlton Athletic School of Excellence and ended up in the US on a Football Scholarship for 4 years. Now in her fourth season at Watford Megan has amongst many of her team mates had an outstanding season but she has also been playing with an injury sustained and simply played on with a brace (Kortney Hause - just saying!).After a difficult previous season we hear how this season has seen a combination of intensity, determination and enjoyment has seen an about turn in results and fantastic performances. Megan explains her leadership style and how she has learned from other experienced members of the squad. The squad flexibility and being able to use the full squad has been a hallmark of the season Megan explains how they have all adapted as and when and how their familiarity allows them to do it without a drop off in performance.Megan talks about the half time and second half in the penultimate game against Oxford United coming back from a goal down to win 2-1 plus at half time a half time talk from the keeper coach helped them to relax and play their game - which led to the final game against Billericay and those celebrations. Ahead of the Play Off Final, Justin, and Pete chat with Women's team manager Damon Lathrope. We hear about hear his playing career cruelly cut short otherwise he might have met Watford in a notable cup match, his move into academy coaching and his introduction to the Womens game at the start of the season and his initial impressions.Damon talks about the exceptional playing, coaching and support staff and he explains his thoughts on the differences between the men and womens games. We go through the ups and downs of the season and Damon explains how the team have used the few moments of adversity in the season to respond positively and to build the courage and character of the team and the squad. We discuss fluctuations in squad personnel and Damon explains why the culture, atmosphere and success of the team has helped them even when success has sometimes worked against them (but in a good way).Helen Ward plays her last game in the Play Off final and Damon explains what she has done for the squad this season on and off the pitch this season. The rise and quality of Ipswich was clearly noted and of course played a massive part in the season and the last day.The embarrassment of riches in wide areas is discussed but whilst he enthuses about the assembled squad Damon stresses the parts of the squad that has allowed players to be so effective going forward as was evidenced in the penultimate game of the season coming back from a goal down to then leaders Oxford United.Pete makes Damon play one of his stupid word games (it's not like Damon had more important things to do eh!?!) giving one-word comments for each of the squad. Finally, Damon expresses his appreciation and asks, if you can, get along to Stadium MK on Saturday!Coming tomorrow - we chat with Player of the Season Megan Chandler! This podcast is sponsored by Nord VPN With any money we're going to make some posters to give away at the first game of next season to (hopefully) celebrate the Bunker being open again.COYH!!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not ScratchYour Eyes. 48 hours after our disappointing season concludes Pozzo &/or Manga waste no time in bringing in brining in a new head coach - former Barnsley and West Brom manager Valerien Ismael. We take a barometer check on initial fan reaction and here from some that it is a Pozzo appointment and others that it is a Manga appointment but either way everyone agrees that unless he's backed he will be out by October, December or the first international break!!One word summaries spell the please (not quite a haiku) of "Underwhelmed Apathy Bollocks Clusterfuck Meh Valium Asylum Bored Bewildered Anxious Ivic" - so there you have it! Part Two of the Post Match Phone in starts with Omar of You ‘Orns waxing lyrical on the women's team and the lessons to be learned by the mens team, he then upsets Pete with a play off prediction that frightened us all!!
So, the season for the men finally comes to a close, as we all knew weeks ago, we weren't going to make the play offs – except that the Women's team has made the play off final for promotion.Wendover starts the ball rolling in terms of the apathy towards the season, an appreciation of going two up top and the need for some shithouses in the squad, Pete doesn't know what day it is, Alan joins us in congratulating the women's team and look forward to next season with some hope for better.Justin joins and is again grumpy this time about his handling by the stewards preventing him from watching the match with his friends in the family stand (he also confesses to be a bit of meanderer!!!), Pete covers a bit on Parlaci Gino and gets all misty eyed about the 70's and 80's when the club managed hooliganism in a mature manner. Paul comes on and tells that unlike Justin he was able to wander around Vicarage Road and that perhaps Justin's haircut is too distinctive
Savour the atmosphere of a good day out in Billericay (words that have never been used before we suspect) as the Womens team battle the Essex side whilst we wait to hear how Ipswich and Oxford battle out - to say it is a happy ending is probably not a spoiler. We chat to legend, mural subject and purveyor of fine chocolate brownies Helen Ward at the end and look forward to a rematch against Forest in the battle for promotion on 20th May!Do excuse the distorted bits but Pete is an idiot!COYH!!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. Peter gives an update on Parlaci Gino (please go to our pinned tweet and fill in the questionnaire), the final NAIL-BITING predictions are handed in and then we listen to Carl struggle with AI as it gives him a lecture on making predictions on sporting events!COYH!!!!This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. ANNOUNCING THE FIRST SWAJ LIVE EVENT! CHECK IT OUT: https://www.bradonishi.com/nationalism/ Brad and Dan begin by discussing the proposed federal abortion ban rolled out by Sen. Lyndsey Graham. Brad puts it in the context of the Christian nationalist attempt to return the country to where it was in the 1950s - and to ensure that the rights gained by BIPOC Americans, women, LGBT folks, immigrants, and others are reset. Dan points out the strange timing of the rollout and asks why Graham did it now. They both agree that this is the beginning of a slow roll to banning abortion in almost any case federally. In the second segment they discuss the MAGA-ification of the GOP by examining primaries in New Hampshire and elsewhere. Where will the moderate Republican go? Finally, they discuss Ron DeSantis' stunt of flying migrants to Martha's Vineyard. Both of them ask if this is what a Christian leader does in 2022 and how it can be considered any form of helpful governance. They also discuss how Uncle Ron has infused Florida schools with conservative curricula from Hillsdale College, disproving the notion that the governor wants to rid the state's schools of ideology of any kind. https://www.tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/2022/07/01/conservative-hillsdale-college-is-helping-desantis-reshape-florida-education/ For access to the full Orange Wave series, click here: https://irreverent.supportingcast.fm/products/the-orange-wave-a-history-of-the-religious-right-since-1960 Pre-Order Brad's new book: https://www.amazon.com/Preparing-War-Extremist-Christian-Nationalism/dp/1506482163 To Donate: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/BradleyOnishi Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/straightwhiteamericanjesus SWAJ Apparel is here! https://straight-white-american-jesus.creator-spring.com/listing/not-today-uncle-ron Learn more about your ad choices. Brad and Dan begin by discussing the new Hillsong documentary, "Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed," and the various sexual abuse and infidelity scandals that have rocked the church of the stars. They draw on work by Dr. Leah Payne in order to link Hillsong to a long line of celebrity megachurches that use spectacle, entrepreneurial tactics, and slick marketing to attract young, hot, and rich parishioners. History tells us that eventually scandal will rock the church, due in large part to the authoritarian leadership structures that often characterize this type of ministry. Leah Payne's op-ed: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/justin-biebers-former-church-hillsong-usa-decline-hypepriests-will-end-rcna23685 They then dig into the news that the Saudi Crown Prince helped funnel 2 billion dollars to Jared Kushner's new firm, despite reservations from pretty much everyone else involved. This leads to a discussion of how propaganda and corruption mark autocratic regimes whose constituents lack trust in their leaders and government. It also provides a helpful rebuttal to Uncle Ron's "whatabout Hunter Biden" line. “The real concern here is that the public has no way of knowing exactly what favors someone like Kushner may have done for the Saudis.” - Walter Shaub The episode finishes with substantive discussion on the Georgia Senate runoff and how it illuminates the failed promises of the Democratic party and the incredible war the GOP has made on the state level in just over a year. We are joined by our boys Tubs, Paul Fenz and Uncle Ron for an FGR mastermind meeting. You know we gotta talk about busting our wives cheeks out, questionable cranking methods and just straight up wildin'.
Brad and Dan begin by discussing how Madison Cawthorn's claims about cocaine and orgies sounded like youth group scare tactics. They then dig into the significance of the texts between Ginni Thomas and Mark Meadows, focusing on the Christian nationalism rife in their conversations, their characterization of Democrats as "evil," and the hope that God would not allow for the fair and free election of Joe Biden to go through. They also point out how this poses a conflict of interest for Clarence Thomas on SCOTUS cases involving January 6 and provide rebuttals to the Uncle Ron claims that criticism of Ginni Thomas is just misogyny. In the second segment Brad examines Trump's hopes that since Putin is now mad at Biden, Putin might release dirt on the President. For Brad and Dan this shows how the enemy of the people in the minds of MAGA Nation is not a war criminal like Putin, but their political opponents, who are not real Americans. The episode finishes with a lengthy discussion of the rise of Donald Crow--arguing that Trumpism will outlast Trump through the bundle of policies that are being passed at the state level. Trump himself was very bad at passing legislation. But governors and state legislatures are now putting into law the animus that his platform activated in the MAGA base. In the future, regardless of what happens with Trump and his role in public office, the legacy of Donald Crow will divide the country along lines similar to Jim Crow.
