Playasia listing suggest this for Elden Ring: Tarnished edition (not 100% confirmed). This will be labeled on the box at the bottom   Game key cards are NOT tied to a specific account (despite some reports to the contrary) https://www.theverge.com/news/644803/nintendo-switch-2-game-key-cards-trade-borrow-resell Possibly comparable to CD-ROMs in PC gaming when they were still relevant.  (Data was written to hard drive during install, but disc still needed to boot.   A cost cutting measure? I immediately thought to myself this looks like what a switch pro was going to be. However I was curious and looking forward to the direct and after seeing the direct, this doesnt feel like a new console to me. It basically feel like the Switch Pro. For 499 bucks? And 80 bucks per game. I'm going to wait or just buy a steam deck.   Eric Plunk — 4/3/2025 9:50 AM I want to see a TV dinner style tray to use the mouse function on with interchangeable tray tops. Bonus points if they have one that looks like the SNES mouse pad   DoubleD — 4/3/2025 10:51 AM For me, this is exactly what I wanted for the next Nintendo console. This direct was a complete 180 from the previous one, where the only thing that really got me hyped was Metroid Prime 4. I'm 100% on board with being an early adopter for this, whereas, I wasn't when the original Switch was announced. They're truly making a version of the Switch that I always wanted. Not only that, but they also announced games that I'm excited for, which seals the deal that it's going to be a day 1 purchase. I didn't expect it, but the game I am most excited for is DK Bananza! Also, with my kids getting older and moving out, I love the integrated video chat and screen sharing options. I still won't get the higher tier of NSO though, so I'll just keep playing Gamecube games on my Gamecube, but I love that they added it.   SNES_is_Life — 4/3/2025 10:53 AM DK looks great for sure.   txTrey — 4/3/2025 11:29 AM My kids are still younger, but my third thought about that chat stuff was that I could do it with them when they move out or go to college. I still have probably one more Nintendo console release before that happens, so hopefully it carries forward    ChrisHL94

What are your opinions on console iterations? Do you prefer the model of console iteration that we usually get from Nintendo (sometging new and different) or prefer the PS/Xbox (Same but more powerful) route. Also do you like mid generation iterations like pro models or do you usually skip those. Maybe you wait for the pro model lol. Let's us know and we will discuss this on the next show!   5 Ri Sol-ju — 1/24/2025 10:11 AM I prefer mind gen iterations like PS Xbox but I generally get the iterations if there is an improvement on battery or screen. The only one I didn't get was the Steam Deck OLED because it was just a sunk cost of 900 after selling the original, I guess cost also factors in. I usually get everything at launch if available   @Datfast (John) @everyone it's time to dust off the old community couch! Solo — 1/24/2025 10:16 AM Considering how hugely successful the Switch was I am hearing people say Nintendo played it safe and smart with this new console. I don't see that as a bad thing at all as I feel if it is not broke don't try to fix it. The Switch is being modeled by other companies and to have an entry that is more powerful will be great. Would rather have something that brings more games to play better and more 3rd party releases than the next whimsical features they May or may not stick. Can't help but think back to all the comments of the MK1 pics of people saying “but Nintendo fans say graphics don't matter.” Drex1981 — 1/24/2025 10:17 AM The only iteration I was interested in was the DS Lite. That was a massive step up over the regular DS. I could care less about the PS4 pro or PS5 pro. My OG switch is serving me just fine.   @Datfast (John) @everyone it's time to dust off the old community couch! Your Wallet's Defense Attorney — 1/24/2025 3:19 PM I kinda just don't really take notice of them DoubleD — 1/24/2025 3:19 PM I definitely get more excited about Nintendo console iterations, but will also always get the next PlayStation console as well, just because that's where the new games are going to be. I will say that I actually delayed my purchase of the PS5 for a while, because initially there weren't many games that I was interested in that weren't also available on the PS4. Regarding mid gen iterations, it's all about the bang for the buck. When the PS4 Pro came out, I was upgrading my TV to a 4K one, so I was motivated to upgrade to the Pro as well to get the most out of the TV, and was very happy with the decision. I also got a Switch lite during the pandemic because my wife was hogging my Switch with Animal Crossing, but now it's just collecting dust. I never got an OLED Switch, because I primarily play it docked.   @Datfast (John) @everyone it's time to dust off the old community couch! Community Couch All N Eric — Today at 1:16 PM Easily one of my favorite moments was when I got to film all these celebrities giving shoutouts back to my Army unit.   https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpXgLZkwd-s&pp=ygUUV2l6YXJkIGNvbiBzaG91dG91dHM%3D Wizard Con Shoutouts Eric Plunk — Today at 1:23 PM I got to be part of the Nintendo Dads panel to talk about retro gaming at the con in my home town. And by panel I mean just me and Marty Estes  I was also introduced to the girl that voiced Ash from Pokemon. adam — Today at 1:23 PM i was going to origins game fair with my friends, and one of the features of the con was the ability to pitch a board game you designed to publishers with the intent of either getting advice or possibly being picked up by the publisher and have your board game sold.    my friend sam had been developing a game for awhile called ‘go for the krill' a whale themed trick taking card game, and he was planning on pitching it at the convention. while we were in line to get tickets we struck up a conversation with the guy behind us we all hit it off, and it turns out he owned a board game company and he picked up my friends game and it's gonna be launched in the near future!  OctoRock_1982 — Today at 2:07 PM My favorite convention memory is getting to spending time with Dan, John and Trey.    DoubleD — Today at 2:35 PM A good friend and I took our sons to Gamescom 2016 in Cologne, Germany (pictured is the FFXV wristband I still have from the event). It was such an amazing and over the top event, and while I was originally excited for myself, I quickly switched gears and I let my son take over and decide how we spent our time there. It was my first large gaming event like this, so I didn't realize how much time we would spend waiting in line though. My favorite thing there was the Tekken 7 booth, but it was bittersweet, because we waited in line for a while to play it, and then found out that my son was too young and they wouldn't let him play it even though I was his father. Very strange, but still a great experience overall. Your Wallet's Defense Attorney — Today at 2:36 PM I've only ever been to Anime Midwest, and that was more to chaperone my sister.  It was fun tho.  It was really surreal seeing a bunch of people dressed up in cosplay, and it was fun trying to see how many I recognized.  I got a picture with Pepsi Man.  We went to a few panels of varying quality, from a professional samurai to some people who just bought a ton of Kazoos.  We did Karaoke, and I sang Call Me Maybe, The Kirby Right Back At Ya Theme, Bye Bye Baby (Giants home run theme), Full Disclosure (Steven Universe), and Ya Got Trouble (Music Man).  Someone sang Escape from the City (SA2) and the Phineas and Ferb Theme Song.  It was a good time! txTrey — Today at 5:25 PM I took my son to CGF yesterday morning near opening time and he played a demo of a game called Ghost Ship Grannies.  The game is an RPG about a group of grannies who get shipwrecked and you have to find the other grannies and do RPG things.  Then when I obligatorily signed up for the email list after talking to the game's artist I saw 2 lines up on the sheet someone had signed up with the SAME FIRST.LAST@gmail.com address as my son's name!  It was the most coincidental moment that has happened to me at a convention.  That was the question, right? Your Wallet's Defense Attorney — Today at 7:08 PM The Mario & Luigi games are my childhood Mario RPGs.  I had Partners in Time and Bowser's Inside Story as a kid.  I view the series as an underrated classic.  I own and have played the core four games, but I only beat PiT and BiS.  I almost got to the end in Superstar Saga, tho.  I haven't played Paper Jam.  I think my favorite is absolutely Bowser's Inside Story. Eric Plunk — Today at 8:07 PM I've only dabbled in the series but have played enough them to enjoy their comedic charm. I remember several weekends we would even carry our tvs to each others houses and have multiple games going at once. pizza tons of soda and nothing but laughs. bozo — Yesterday at 10:14 AM I was very late to the party with THPS - I only got into the series around 2016 as I was building up my OG Xbox library and had 2x/3/4 on hand to see what all the fuss was about. Going in, I was expecting it to be the kind of game that hasn't aged well; one whose reputation was heavily embellished by nostalgia for the era it represented.   Needless to say, I was very, very wrong. THPS totally holds up. And the gameplay mechanics on offer are not only ridiculously deep, but fluid and cohesive in a way few other games can match even today. Chaining tricks into manuals into ramps into reverts is an absolutely sublime gameplay loop that never gets old.   I'm always bothered whenever THPS gets lumped into the generic "Sports" categorization, when in reality it has way more in common with combo-oriented action games like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta than say, Madden. I think that's why it quickly became one of my all-time favorite series despite completely missing out on them when they were in the zeitgeist.   Oh yeah, and the soundtrack? It shreds. As a huge pop-punk fan I couldn't ask for more.   I'll never forgive Activision-Blizzard for shutting down Vicarious Visions and cancelling the THPS 3+4 remaster. 1+2 is arguably the best remaster ever made, and is easily the apex of the entire franchise, despite the moribund state the franchise was in for the previous 15 years.   Thanks for listening to the RetroLogic Podcast! While this softens the blow of the 360 marketplace's closure there are still a massive amount of games being left behind. Physical copies of these games will and in some cases already have seen an increase in value. Digital only games like Rush ‘N Attack Expatriot, Rez HD, Vigilante 8 Arcade, and all of the Arcade Kinect games will be largely left to time, piracy notwithstanding. Sam Newman, Mike Sheahan and Don Scott - 'You Cannot Be Serious'

John Setka (born September 1964) is an Australian trade unionist. He is secretary of the Victorian-Tasmanian division of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, and Energy Union which also administers the South Australian division under a temporary arrangement. He is a controversial figure in the Australian trade union movement. He is known for his strong support at a grassroots level, especially among the rank and file of the CFMMEU. His supporters regard him as a strong advocate against political, legal, and industrial opponents; the national secretary of the union, Christy Cain has called him one of the "most fair dinkum union people in this country". On the other hand, Setka's political opponents have derided him as a bully, and criticized his purported stance that it can be necessary to break the law to pursue union interests. He has also faced strong criticism for alleged public remarks on the topic of domestic violence, and a guilty plea for harassing his ex-wife via text, issues that contributed to his formal expulsion from the Australian Labor Party in 2019. In recent years Setka's personal life has been the subject of considerable media attention. His marital breakdown, and associated legal issues, have led to additional public criticism. John Setka was born to a Croatian family. His father was a labourer named Bob Setka, who survived the West Gate Bridge collapsein 1970, one of the worst industrial accidents caused by employer negligence in Victoria's history. Setka began working as a labourer at the age of 19. He began involvement with trade unionism first after joining the Builders Labourers Federation. He was mentored by state secretary John Cummins. Under John's leadership, media commentators have noted the "pervasive power of the CFMEU over construction companies". In 2012 he unsuccessfully attempted to sue the opposition leader Tony Abbott in defamation after Abbott called him a thug. In 2015, Setka encouraged workers within the Rail, Tram and Bus Union to strike during the Australian Football League finals to "use finals fever to their advantage in their bitter industrial fight with Metro Trains and Yarra Trams". The decision was criticised by Victorian Labor minister Jacinta Allan due to the strike's impact on businesses. Setka openly criticised the former prime minister Kevin Rudd in 2018. During a speech, he said: 'he's one of the worst fucking Labor PMs we've ever had ... (because) ... he kept the ABCC and coercive powers and he wants to talk about workers and the trade union movement.' Setka is known for his public condemnation of the ABCC and its staff. In 2017 he publicly threatened to target the home addresses of building watchdog inspectors and lobby local footy clubs so their "kids will be ashamed of who their parents are". These comments were controversial. On the other hand, he is regarded by many in the union movement, especially in the industrial left faction; to be a robust and genuine union activist. He has in the past had strong support from Luke Hilakari, among other prominent leaders in the trade union movement. In August 2022 a unanimous ballot at the South Australian branch of the CFMMEU brought about a co-operative administration arrangement between that branch, and the Victorian-Tasmanian division led by Setka. In 2015 Setka was arrested and forced to appear in court to face blackmail charges. On the day of his court appearance, around 2,000 CFMEU members and other unionists gathered outside the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 8 December to show their support. Three years later, the Victorian prosecution office dropped the charges, a decision that the Magistrate Charles Rozecwajg described in court as 'very sensible. Setka spoke outside of court saying that he had been the victim of a witch hunt. He later sued a group of executives from the company Boral, successfully obtaining a settlement after alleging they conspired in the tort of malicious prosecution. Expulsion from Labor In June 2019 John attended a meeting of his union's national executive. It was reported by The Age that during that meeting, he made comments to the effect that the work of Rosie Batty had left men with fewer rights. Setka publicly denied that he made the comments. Following the reporting of these comments, the Australian Labor Party leader Anthony Albanese proposed to expel Setka from the Labor Party. John publicly objected to this attempt at expulsion and claimed that there was "dirty politics at work". He made an implicit claim that he was the victim of a witch hunt, driven by his "view of where the union should be in regard to the ALP, and some people probably don't share that view". Reactions to John's behavior and his potential expulsion were mixed. The CFMEU Victoria branch (that he controlled) threatened to cut financial support to the ALP if he was expelled.  The NSW and WA branches also expressed their support. Numerous politicians, as well as the ACTU secretary Sally McManus called on John to step down. Additional pressure upon John arose after the Senate crossbencher Jacqui Lambie threatened political blackmail, making a demand that he steps down or she would vote for a bill strongly opposed by the union movement. This threat was made during a lunch invitation at her Tasmanian house. In the midst of these events, John pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to harass a person in the Melbourne magistrate's court. The victim was identified as his wife at the time, Emma Walters. Following this, more than a dozen individual unions, including the three biggest in the country, renewed their calls for Setka to step aside. Some factional allies of Setka, like the then head of the RTBU Luba Grigorovitch , maintained their support. In July, John applied for an injunction at the Victorian Supreme Court to stop the expulsion decision. He argued at court that the ALP national executive didn't have the legal power to expel him, and that it was instead a matter for the Victorian State party branch. The court decided in August 2019 that the motion to expel Mr. Setka was 'outside the court's jurisdiction', and that it 'could not interfere with internal decisions of voluntary unincorporated associations'. In October he commenced an appeal of this decision, before withdrawing. After its withdrawal, the ALP immediately expelled him.

Based on Yoot's latest hobby of sculpting chunks of metal and him chatting about it with Shigeru Miyamoto and Satoru Iwata Saito could not give a reason why the game was canceled. -Game was based around the concept of building engines by shaving and sculpting chunks of metal. -at one point intended to blow into DS microphone (because YS loves microphones) -Unclear if you would actually ever race using these engines -only two characters confirmed in concept art, Mario (duh) and an elderly scientist (no, not E. Gadd)   Super Mario Spikers Wii -volleyball-wrestling hybrid sport game to be developed by Next Level games team responsible for Mario Strikers games -carried over experience from the also canceled WWE Titans: parts unknown (the same team worked on it and really didn't want these ideas to go to waste -WWE parts unknwn itself is super interesting:  crazy stylized take on pro wrestling, featuring fantastic environments and the ability to wrestle bears, crocodiles, sorcerers, etc. - Nintendo felt the violence in the game was too realistic for something featuring mario's characters Other Picks:   Mega Man Universe Mega Man ZX3/ZXC Scalebound Prey 2 Phantom Dust Reboot Jade Empire 2   NES Aliens (based on the film,Famicom disk system, Square developed, run n' gun action platformer Sunman (Sunsoft attempted rebrand of Superman game, plays like their batman games, mostly complete)   Gamecube: Casualties of Microsoft's Acquisition of Rare DK64 sequel on gamecube Banjo 3 on gamecube (kinda retooled to nuts & bolts eventually) Diddy Kong Pilot (was eventually released as banjo pilot) Diddy Kong Racing Adventure (oddly enough started at another studio before moving to rare and then getting axed) Perfect dark zero Rare was also working with microsoft on a monster hunter-like game at some point.  Concept art:   Kirby Tilt n' tumble 2 Untitled earthbound game (developed by Baten Kaitos team of Monolith Soft) possibly a remake? Raven Blade (RPG by Retro canceled so they could make Metroid Prime) Thunder Rally (another retro project, car combat game intended to compete with Twisted Metal)   The Wii Vitality Sensor Project H.A.M.M.E.R : beat ‘em up set in future USA, as a robot with a giant hammer, used motion controls.  Intended to integrate wii motionplus at some point.  Troubled development ended with a team with low morale making accusations against the management   Turrican 3D   Starcraft Ghost   Varuna's Forces: (developed by accent media, published by atari), planned for Jaguar CD, 3DO, dreamcast, Saturn, PC) hybrid Third person shooter/strategy game with on-rail shooter segments.  (couldn't get a break on those platforms folding. Interesting tidbits The series is weird about region exclusivity: ReBoot camp has yet to be confirmed for a release in japan Advance Wars (1) was delayed in japan (presumably as a result of the US war on terror, though not officially stated).(the US released coincidentally released just before on September 10, 2001)  It released 3 years later in 2004 as Game boy Wars advance 1 & 2, bundled with the second game. Famicom wars, Gameboy Wars 1-3 were of course Japan only Japan also only got Days of Ruin as an eshop exclusive, not physical.   Designer Kentaro Nishimura stated that the success of Advance Wars shifted NIntendo's attitude towards western tastes and without it Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade would never have been localized.   Reboot camp is not the first time Nintendo outsourced the series development to a third party: Game boy wars Turbo, 2, and 3 were developed by Hudson and Battalion Wars 1 and 2 by Kuju Entertainment.
