However, energy output can increase under a new Trump administration, noting the United States is now the number one producer of oil. Ben explains why he labels Exxon Mobil (XOM), Suncor Energy (SU) and Cheniere Energy (LNG) as his top picks in the space. ======== Schwab Network ======== Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. Ben Cook and Austin Nigh join in this podcast based on James 1:2-7 as we cover the following points: Jas 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Jas 1:3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. Jas 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Jas 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. Jas 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Jas 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 1. We must understand believers can only respond to trials by faith properly through Jesus Christ indwelling life within. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2) 2. The Certainty of Trials 3. Distinguishing Trials and Temptation 4. Joy and Trials 5. The Essence of the Matter and Trials 6. Patience and Trials 7. Faith and Trials (Prov. 3:5,6) 8. The Sovereignty of God and Trials 9. God's Ways and Trials 10. Jesus and Trials. Numerous personal testimonies are share by Ben and Austin so we can all understand the practical application of the Biblical Principles. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/randy-cook/message

This week Andrew and Ted watched the Netflix original "Happiness for Beginners" starring Luke Grimes (Yellowstone) and Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). This Rom/Com co-stars Gus Birney, Ben Cook, Esteban Benito, Nico Santos, Alexander Koch, Julia Shiplett, and Shayvawn Webster. Helen (Ellie Kemper) has just gotten divorced from her husband, a guy apparently no one within her family really cared for, so she sets out on a week long adult only guided hiking trip. Low and behold her little brother's (played by Alexander Koch) best friend Jake (played by Luke Grimes) happens, not by chance, to be on the same guided hiking trip. The plot twist is that Jake has always, even since childhood, been in love with Helen and since the families are close, Jake knew Helen was going on this hike so he signed up as well. Helen isn't the only one going through "life issues", Jake had to stop being a doctor because he suffers from retinitis pigmentosa a disease that causes on to lose their sight. The question is ... does this week long escapade lead to Helen and Jake finding true love or does the week provide a new light about Helen to Jake and he realizes he has been wrong all these years. Well Andrew and Ted won't tell you that but they will let you know if they recommend the movie or not.

Ben Cook describes how brilliantly trained NASCAR Pit Crews inspired an amazing business consulting division. Be open to new opportunities and nimble enough to adapt. Dave Young: Welcome to the Empire Builders Podcast, teaching business owners the not so secret techniques that took famous businesses from mom and pop to major brands. Stephen Semple is a marketing consultant, story collector, and storyteller. I'm Stephen's sidekick and business partner, Dave Young. Before we get into today's episode, a word from our sponsor, which is, well, it's us. But we're highlighting ads we've written and produced for our clients. So here's one of those. [BWS Ad] Stephen Semple: Hey everyone, we gave Dave Young another little break, and I'm on this podcast with Ben Cook from Pit Training School. And their website is visitpit, P-I-T, .com. And I've got to tell you a little bit about this organization. This is one that you guys all want to be aware of. Gary Bernier and I, and you've heard Gary in some past podcasts, Gary Bernier and I one time were driving down to Florida and we pulled off in the Charlotte area off the highway. Gary's grandfather used to be heavily involved in racing in the day, and there was a NASCAR museum and all this other stuff in this area that we wanted to visit. And we drove by this one building and here was this, I don't know, I guess it's a four-story or five-story building that had this little race track around it. And we saw a car going around this race track. We thought, "What the heck is going on there?" So we had to wander in. And we wandered in and we got really lucky, because Ben Cook, who's with us, happened to step in at the same time and gave us a tour of their facility. And here's the cool thing. What these guys do is train pit crews for NASCAR. Now, you might be asking, why is that important for business? Lots of this is applicable to business, and they have a training facility that not only trains pit crews, but has great corporate retreats. And we also recently did a corporate retreat with a client. And you've often heard me saying on this podcast, you've got to get out and visit different places. Like Seth Gordon once said, no innovative ideas come from a room with four white walls and a drop ceiling. You've got to do something different. And what we found when we took our client down, why it works is that they came out with so many amazing, great ideas and it was so innovative and it was a great place to do planning for the year. So one of the things that has always surprised me, Ben, is when you share the whole idea of how pit crews work and how important time is in NASCAR. And I forget how you break it down, but I think you break things down into an eighth of a second. Is that what it is, something like that? Ben Cook: Millisecond sometimes, because for every millisecond loss we're potentially losing laps or positions on the race track. And so we try to do everything we can to be as efficient as we can in order to gain that speed of performance. Stephen Semple: The thing I found really interesting when we were down there, because you get a chance to do a little bit of pit crew stuff, like just bolting the tires on, which was really fun. But when you showed the video of how a pit crew works, I actually think it's one of those things that is really applicable to business. Because a lot of sports things are not. Because if we're a hockey team, what I do directly affects what you do. If we're a bowling team, we've each got to do the same thing no matter what. But with pit crew, there is this pass-off. What one person does, how he does his task or finishes his task directly affects the next person, right? Ben Cook: We always say that if one guy or gal is off by a tenth of a second, they're all being diminished by that same loss of performance, that tenth of a second loss. So we talk about inside the box. When our cars come down pit road and they come to a s...
Investors should keep their eyes on the energy sector. Robert Yawger and Ben Cook discuss crude oil (/CL). They talk about how crude oil is at its highest point since December 2022. They note that crude oil is in focus ahead of key OPEC and IEA reports. They then go over what the recent production cut means for crude oil. Crude oil hit a 52-week high of $123.68 on June 14, 2022. They also talk about investing opportunities in the energy sector, highlighting Exxon Mobil (XOM). Tune in to find out more about the stock market today.

Video Version https://vimeo.com/795992546 About the Podcast My guest today is Ben Cook, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Spreetail, a next-generation 3PL company headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska. We start the conversation with Ben sharing his early years. His father was an Army Officer who resigned soon after Ben was born to have a more stable family life. But that didn't mean they set roots and became grounded, quite the opposite, as his father became a high-school football coach who moved through several high-schools in the Southeastern United States; and also did some time in Spain and in Africa on volunteer work. So Ben struggles with where “home” is, except that it's the United States. Ben then shares some details of his military career. Being in the Special Forces, the assignments were not the most comfortable (including stints above the arctic circle). But it was pre-9/11, so the assignments were (perhaps) a bit easier than afterwards. After the military, he became interested in Supply Chain. Perhaps recognizing the importance of supply chains during his military career somehow influenced his gravitation to the discipline which, in the late 1990's and early 2000's, was in its infancy. We walk though the various roles he had; including one in China soon after China's assentation to being a member of the World Trade Organization. And Ben shares some of the lessons learned along the way, some by design, some by accident, including a lesson-learned about culture eating strategy for breakfast. These experiences led him to develop his personal approach to leadership which he calls “One Team”, and I am sure you will find his thoughts on this quite interesting; perhaps even adoptable. About Ben Cook Ben Cook With over 20 years of leadership experience with a focus on leading startups, driving turnaround efforts, scaling revenue, invest to grow and global expansion, Ben Cook is a hands-on, people-focused, leader and board member. He has had senior leadership roles at six Fortune 150 companies including; Apple, The Home Depot, Kimberly-Clark and two startup ventures and is currently the Chief Supply Chain Officer for Spreetail. His passion is on people and helping to shape strong values-based cultures where high-performing teams master change and execute the vision for the next phase of the company's life. And so it ends... the very last episode of Doctor Who to be broadcast during its original run. And it might all be host Toby Hadoke's fault. Ben Cook is far too young, as he proves when he ages himself in this podcast - but that is nothing, Toby recently worked with someone who was born the day after this episode was shown - and that person now has children and a house and everything. What!?!. Anyway, let's watch to see if the show goes out with a bang - and will Ben and Toby agree, or will they fight like animals?
