In the last couple months, Vermont, Alabama, and Oklahoma have passed data privacy laws. Massachusetts is negotiating its own version. Meanwhile, congressional lawmakers have introduced national privacy bills that would preempt these state laws. In light of all this legislation, we're revisiting an interview from February about how the United States' data ecosystem makes it possible for any number of government agencies and businesses to buy our private data, from facial scans to health records to location tracking. Host Flora Lichtman talks with law professor and tech policy expert Laura Moy, who has testified in Congress about privacy laws and how data brokers profit off of personal data. Guest: Laura Moy is an associate professor of law at Georgetown Law, based in Washington, D.C. Transcripts for each episode are available within 1-3 days at sciencefriday.com. The UDA chief behind the Craigyhill bonfire in Larne won't answer questions about his knowledge of an unsolved murder. David Murray says he has “nothing to hide”. But - he might be feeling the heat after police launched a fresh appeal about the loyalist-feud killing of Andrew Cairns in Larne in 2000. Murray was initially charged with murdering the UVF man, who was beaten before bring shot in the head at an Eleventh Night bonfire. The charge was eventually dropped and Murray pleaded guilty to assault getting a suspended prison sentence. But there's a question for the police... why did they pose for pictures with the so-called master bonfire builder - when they had named him as a UDA commander. Ciarán joined by John Toner from the Sunday Life and by the Belfast Telegraph's John Laverty to discuss some of the pallets used in bonfires, if they are blue or red, they are private property – why do the cops ignore that? 31 May 2026 | This week Pastor Evan starts a new sermon series on Genesis, starting in Genesis 1-2 on how God created us to be deeply understood, seen, and loved by our Creator. Genesis 1-2 The Creation of the World 1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day. 6 And God said, “Let there be an expanse[a] in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 And God made[b] the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. 8 And God called the expanse Heaven.[c] And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. 9 And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land Earth,[d] and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants[e] yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. 14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons,[f] and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day. 20 And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds[g] fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.” 21 So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. 24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds—livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so. 25 And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. 28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said,

Heidi Boghosian is an attorney, author, and co-host of Law and Disorder podcast and radio show. She joins Steve to discuss how the US surveillance state is a tool of class discipline and repression. From the Federalist Society pipeline to post-9/11 “safety” theater, both parties helped build a digital police state that criminalizes poverty, protest, and anyone messing with profits. And let's not forget the copaganda about “crime” and “illegals” to keep folks scared while manufactured austerity produces the very crises the state then punishes. Classic ruling class two-step. Silicon Valley's tech bros are kind of like bouncers. Thiel, Apple, Google et al. snort up our data, rig information flows (algorithms, anyone?) then lobby to block regulation. The “nothing to hide” line is an ideological bait and switch. The killer is inside the house! There's no easy fix. Heidi urges immediate digital self-defense – the OPSEC basics, privacy tools, scam awareness. Meanwhile the ruling class isn't losing sleep over your “I voted” sticker. We should be thinking in terms of local organizing and building counter-hegemony. (Heidi references the Young Lords. Look ‘em up!) Heidi Boghosian is a New York-based attorney and activist. She's the author of "Spying on Democracy" (2013), "I Have Nothing To Hide" (2021), and "Cyber Citizens: Saving Democracy with Digital Literacy" (June 2025). James 5:12 calls us out of dishonesty and into a life of honesty shaped by the gospel. Dishonesty often stems from a desire to protect ourselves, control outcomes, or manage how we're perceived—but it ultimately robs us of freedom, intimacy, transformation, and joy. The gospel confronts and exposes our dishonesty, but it also empowers us to live with integrity and truth. Listen as we learn how to let our "yes" be yes and our "no" be no in a way that reflects a heart changed by Christ.

Living With Nothing To Hide: The Journey from False Self to Freedom In this reflective episode of the Exploring More Podcast, Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings revisit foundational themes of the season—hiding, fearing, and proving—and how these traits are deeply rooted in the false self. Through honest storytelling and personal reflection, they unpack how these tendencies often form early in life, influenced by environments like church, sports, and family. Whether it's the fear of being judged or the drive to earn approval, the hosts highlight how these patterns subtly shape our identity and keep us from living freely. The heart of the conversation centers on the call to become an "oriented man"—someone who no longer needs to hide, prove, or live in fear. Michael and SJ emphasize that transformation doesn't come from performance, but from receiving unconditional love and learning to live from a place of belovedness. They share moments from their own journeys that illustrate how freedom grows through vulnerability, grace, and a willingness to be seen as we truly are. The role of brotherhood and trusted community is woven throughout the episode, reminding listeners that healing rarely happens in isolation. Instead, it unfolds through support, presence, and being known. From these safe places, men can begin to let go of the false self and walk into the life of courage, authenticity, and wholeness they were made for. As the episode closes, listeners are invited into deeper exploration—with resources like The Heart of a Warrior and an open door to reach out for connection and support. This episode serves as both a mirror and a compass, offering perspective, hope, and a clear path forward into freedom. We hope you enjoy this episode and invite you to connect with us!

Nothing to Hide, Nothing to Prove, Nothing to Fear: The Journey to Authenticity In this episode of the Exploring More Podcast, Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings unpack a transformative phrase that strikes at the heart of a man's internal world: “Nothing to hide, nothing to prove, nothing to fear.” Drawing from biblical narratives like Adam's hiding in Eden and Peter's denial of Jesus, the hosts explore how these ancient stories mirror the modern male struggle with shame, self-worth, and identity. Personal moments—like the frustration of painting a camper—serve as vivid metaphors for deeper emotional triggers, revealing patterns of fear, anger, and a false self shaped by wounds and societal expectations. The conversation emphasizes how crucial it is for men to become self-aware, confront their past, and choose vulnerability. By naming emotions, recognizing emotional patterns, and engaging in healing practices like journaling and prayer, men can move from a place of hiding and proving to living free and whole. Community also plays a vital role. Whether it's support from a spouse, brothers in faith, or a spiritual counselor, the journey toward authenticity and freedom requires others. Cultural and social factors—like racial identity or childhood messages—are also addressed as part of what shapes the false self. Ultimately, the episode invites men to live “dangerous for good”—free from fear and shame, anchored in their true identity in Christ. Through grace, reflection, and authentic connection, men can walk a path of continual healing and lasting transformation. We hope you enjoy this episode and invite you to connect with us!

It used to simply be about having the right to decide for ourselves who gets access to our data. But over the past decade we've lost that choice, and so much of our personal and sensitive information is shared without our knowledge or explicit consent. In this video I want to give you a list of arguments you can use in response to anyone who dismisses the importance of privacy because they “have nothing to hide”.00:00 “I Have Nothing To Hide”01:33 Privacy is About Consent02:35 Nothing to Hide, Everything to Protect04:34 Privacy is NOT Dead05:18 Your Data Is Forever06:03 It's Not About You08:14 Uncertain Future10:10 Surveillance Stifles Creativity and Dissent11:30 Surveillance Isn't About Criminals12:29 Your Data Puts Others at Risk14:25 You Send A Signal With Your Choices16:21 A Fight We Can't Afford to LoseSurveillance is a weapon that is too often used to silence opposition, suppress individuality, and enforce conformity. Privacy is what allows us to think, act, and connect without fear. Without privacy, we lose the ability to dissent, to innovate, and to live freely. The next time someone says, “I have nothing to hide,” remind them of this: Privacy isn't about hiding. It's about protecting your rights, your choices, and your future.Brought to you by NBTV team members: Lee Rennie, Cube Boy, Will Sandoval and Naomi BrockwellTo support NBTV, visit:https://www.nbtv.media/support(tax-deductible in the US)Visit our shop!https://Shop.NBTV.mediaOur eBook "Beginner's Introduction To Privacy:https://amzn.to/3WDSfkuBeware of scammers, I will never give you a phone number or reach out to you with investment advice. On the night of 9th November 1996, Alana Cecil, who had only recently turned 16, was excited to attend the Djerriwarrh Bonfire Festival in the small city of Melton, just out of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. When she left home that night it would be the last time her family would ever see her alive. Sometime in the early hours of November 10th 1996, someone or some people took a syringe and injected Alana Cecil twice, once in each arm, with a lethal dose of Heroin. They then dumped her body in the back driveway of a vacant home. Eight years later a DNA breakthrough identified the semen of two men on and in Alana's body. One being a 49 year old man known to Police, who when questioned by Police simply answered 'No Comment'. Neither these men, nor anyone else has ever been held accountable or responsible for Alana's death. And neither man has been able to offer a valid reason their DNA was present. For 28 years Alana's family have fought for answers, and justice for Alana. Now through this podcast we're hoping that with your help those responsible for her death will finally get what they deserve. Treat yourself to a free peek into the Winter Journal through a link provided in our show notes: FREE PDF Winter Seasonal Journal   Welcome to the Susan Beth Podcast, a restorative space for intentional living where we unearth the divine desires and purposes within us. Listen to the frequent reminders of your purpose and engage in enriching conversations about trust, faith, and the whispers of the Divine. In today's episode, we're examining the severe trials of the wintery, harsh seasons of our lives and how they can lead us to depth, growth, and change. Winter seasons might sometimes make us feel exposed and desolate, but these are valuable opportunities for us to find the healing and wholeness that emanates from humility and surrender. Walk through the weekly Journal prompts around our vulnerability, pride, and the desire to mask our pains and weaknesses. With questions aimed at being vulnerable with God and those closest to you. Engage in the healing process that leads to the ultimate freedom of being naked and not ashamed, as reflected in Psalm 51:17. We close with a heart-warming prayer that acknowledges the beauty and strength that comes from walking through winter seasons hand in hand with God. Finding this episode enriching?
