A Coleraine pensioner, who uses a mobility scooter, was shot five times in the arms and legs by the UDA. But what possible excuse would the loyalist paramilitaries have for carrying out such a heinous act? The attack came just 48 hours after the PSNI had raided a brothel in the town which it publicly connected to the UDA. That brothel was run by Bulgarian pimps and police say they were paying protection money to loyalists. The two events appear to be connected. Ciarán Dunbar is joined by Sunday Life's Ciaran Barnes. The UDA is promising to hit back after its North Antrim boss was attacked by rival loyalists. Marcus Boreland, who denies any links to criminality, was left with a snapped ankle after band supporters broke loose from a parade and attacked him with their flutes, following the brigade's feud with a faction from a nearby village. The LCC has rejected police demands for a meeting after loyalist Dee Stitt was arrested over online comments on recent race-related violence – raising new questions over its relevance amongst loyalist circles. For many years there has been a myth among journalists that journalism and content marketing can't coexist. You either have to focus on journalism work or on content marketing, but not on both. But this belief is based on false assumptions and outdated beliefs. And in this week's episode, you'll hear why you can do both very successfully as a freelance writer. And, in fact, why you may actually WANT to focus on both. My guest is Lindy Alexander, an award-winning freelance food, travel, and lifestyle writer and content creator living in the vibrant goldfields town of Castlemaine in central Victoria, Australia. Her work has been published in numerous digital and print publications including Sunday Life, The Age/The Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian, Travel + Indulgence, Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, delicious, Good Food, The Saturday Paper, SBS Life, Dumbo Feather, Peppermint, Essential Kids, Essential Baby, Modern Farmer, Jetstar magazine and Homes+. I had Lindy on the show a few years ago, where we discussed . This time, we're directly tackling the age-old myth that content marketing and journalism are incompatible. You'll hear exactly how Lindy has navigated these waters like a champ. How's she maintained solid journalistic standards and ethics throughout. And how you can combine both to create real synergies in your business.
Following the murder of Ian Ogle in 2019, the PSNI felt the pressure and resolved to strike a blow against UVF cocaine dealers – that operation has seen a raft of convictions. What if I told you, that there was a simple way to improve your creativity, self-awareness, focus, concentration, and reduce your stress and anxiety? It's free. It's not exercise. It's not sleep.Any ideas?Turns out - a way to achieve all of those things is solitude. Not sitting in a room alone on your phone, or watching telly - no.That's not it.Solitude.Just being with your thoughts.Yet Solitude is an interesting thing isn't it?Too much of it is a bit hard to come back from. Not enough of it - and life can become quite difficult. But what about making time to find it, deliberately? Is it even a good idea?Turns out - it is.A very good idea. And Kerri Sackville has done her homework, written a book about it and is here to chat about it.Particularly about what happens to us when we seek out too little, and too much of it.As someone who's done both - I found this conversation fascinating, and I changed my daily habits because of it.Kerri Sackville is an Australian writer who is a regular columnist for Sunday Life magazine, Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne Age.Over the years, Kerri has appeared frequently on commercial and ABC radio networks, podcasts, and TV shows including Sunrise, The Morning Show and The Daily Edition. She's written five books, including her latest “The secret life of you” which is about spending time alone. If you can't recall the last time that happened, this conversation might be what you need to help you carve out some time to make it happen.Kerri is a hoot.Enjoy this , I certainly did.Stay up to date on more upcoming NTNNNNN shows by joining the mailing list here: Osher Günsberg - Better Than Yesterday Podcast | LinktreeAnything else?
