Sal and BT dove into the struggles of both New York teams, with Sal pushing back on any comparison between the Mets' current woes and the infamous 2007 collapse. He argued that the Mets, despite their slump, have the potential to recover and even challenge for the division title, a feat they shouldn't be expected to achieve at all. The conversation shifted to a fiery debate about accountability, where both hosts criticized the Yankees' management for being too quiet and not holding anyone accountable, contrasting it with Steve Cohen's benign yet public display of support for the Mets. The segment wrapped up with a "Bald Faced Truth, Bald Faced Lie" segment that included some pointed takes on Jeter's absence from Old Timers' Day and the potential for new talent to get a shot in the playoffs.

Evan talks about why this past Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium was the first time he had a problem with it.
Roger Clemens broke the news to Dave Sims and Suzyn Waldman that Mariano Rivera tore his achilles at Old Timers' Day. The Yankees need an attitude adjustment. Willie says Aaron Glenn is winning the trust of his players. The Moment of The Day: C-Mac's Oktoberfest getup.
The hour began with a discussion of Shedeur Sanders' strong preseason debut, noting that Giants and Jets fans would be concerned if he became a good NFL QB, as both teams passed on him. Neither local team's most important player is their QB, and the Giants, though not necessarily good, can't be awful. C-Lo provided an update after C-Mac shared stories about his wife's job, their dating history, and a failed gift. Roger Clemens informed Dave Sims and Suzyn Waldman of Mariano Rivera's Achilles injury at Old Timers' Day, leading to a segment on the Yankees needing an attitude adjustment. Willie believes Aaron Glenn is gaining his players' trust. The Moment of The Day featured C-Mac's Oktoberfest attire. In the final segment, C-Mac admitted to betting against the Yankees for the past six games due to emotional hedging, which Willie called him a loser for. C-Mac also shared Willie's fondness for Buc-ee's.
With Boomer and Gio in Pebble Beach, Chris McMonigle and Willie Colon fill in. It was a tough baseball weekend for New York, as the Mets were swept and lost their 7th straight, while the Yankees lost 2 of 3 to the Astros. C-Mac and Willie discuss the teams' struggles, with C-Mac noting star players are failing and Willie suggesting they need to regain momentum. C-Lo's update covers the Mets blowing a 5-0 lead and the Yankees' Old Timers' Day win. Discussion includes Andy Pettitte in the booth for Grisham's HR, Jason Alexander shutting down the Yankees, and C-Mac's view on the Yankees losing a series to the Twins. A caller expresses pessimism about New York sports, and Willie asks C-Mac if the Yankees are too analytical.
Hour 1 With Boomer, Gio, and Jerry in Pebble Beach, Chris McMonigle and Willie Colon fill in. The Mets were swept and lost their 7th straight, blowing a 5-0 lead, while the Yankees lost 2 of 3 to the Astros, but won on Old Timers' Day. Both New York teams are struggling and barely clinging to playoff spots. C-Mac believes star players are failing, while Willie emphasizes the need for momentum. C-Lo's update covers the Mets' woes and the Yankees' loss to Jason Alexander, prompting a Costanza quote. C-Mac finds a Yankees series loss to the Twins unacceptable. A caller expresses pessimism for New York sports, and Willie questions the Yankees' analytical approach. Hour 2 C-Mac and Willie discuss player perspective on coaching decisions, mispronounced names, and the Mets' losing streak. They debate Brandon Nimmo's comments, Aaron Boone's pitching choice, and the Jets' locker room after losses. They also disagree with a caller about the Mets' trade deadline moves. Hour 3 The hour begins positively with strong preseason starts for the Giants and Jets. Willie is impressed by the Jets and advises C-Mac on what Aaron Glenn needs for a successful first year, noting that playing starters in preseason can lead to better early-season results. C-Lo returns with an update, starting with the Mets' blown lead and sweep in Milwaukee. The SNY Jets crew had to swim to their hotel after their car flooded, a situation Willie luckily avoided by being in the studio. C-Lo spent the weekend in Nashville, and C-Mac is grateful Willie knows what lederhosen are, unlike Jerry and the rest of the crew. Jaxson Dart had an impressive pro debut, and Tom Brady's statue was unveiled. The hour concludes with C-Mac telling Willie he'd prefer Dart to sit the entire year but acknowledges it will be difficult if he continues to play well, reminding Willie of the "FIRE IDZIK" signs from 2014. Hour 4 The hour began with a discussion of Shedeur Sanders' strong preseason debut, noting that Giants and Jets fans would be concerned if he became a good NFL QB, as both teams passed on him. Neither local team's most important player is their QB, and the Giants, though not necessarily good, can't be awful. C-Lo provided an update after C-Mac shared stories about his wife's job, their dating history, and a failed gift. C-Mac also shared Willie's fondness for Buc-ee's.
The Mets blew a 5-0 lead to get swept by the Brewers and lose their 7th straight game. Mets starters still aren't going deep into games. The Yankees lost 2 of 3 but won on Old Timers' Day Saturday. Andy Pettitte was in the booth for Trent Grisham's go-ahead HR. Jason Alexander shut the Yankees offense down on Sunday so of course C-Lo slipped in a George Costanza quote.
Heading into the weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers had revenge on their minds for the last time they played the New York Mets at home. In a segment of his sports talk radio show, Sal Licata discusses various New York sports topics. He begins with a humorous anecdote from a caller named Hank, who expresses frustration that his second cousin, actor Ben Stiller, won't attend a Knicks game with him. Licata then transitions to the Mets' announcement of an "Alumni Classic" game, essentially an Old Timers' Day under a new name, featuring over 40 former Mets players. He expresses enthusiasm for the event, particularly highlighting players like Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran. The conversation then shifts to the Knicks, with a caller named Alan advocating for Mark Jackson as the team's next head coach, believing he's more relatable to modern players than Jeff Van Gundy. Alan also expresses optimism for the New York Jets' upcoming season. Licata, however, dismisses Mark Jackson as a serious candidate for the Knicks coaching job, citing his past issues with the Warriors and lack of subsequent coaching opportunities.
