Rodriguez, Keith, and Producer Joe are running the show tonight while Farace is out… getting his hair done. Yep, even bald guys need “me time,” and rumor has it he's spending three hours at the salon debating gel vs. mousse.Meanwhile, the Mets are feeling the heat—some of it good, most of it not so much. Juan Soto is on another planet right now: 10 home runs and 18 RBI in June and absolutely torching baseballs like he's got a personal vendetta. But outside of Soto and a few sparks, the offense has hit the snooze button lately, struggling to get anything going with runners in scoring position. On the mound, the pitching staff has had its ups and downs. Sean Manaea is temporarily shut down with an elbow issue after getting a cortisone shot, while Frankie Montas gave fans something to smile about with a sharp Mets debut—five scoreless innings and nine punchouts. The guys will break down the team's recent slide, what's been going wrong, and how the upcoming All-Star break could give this banged-up squad a much-needed reset. Is it just a midseason blip or something more concerning?Expect the usual chaos: Rodriguez throwing shade like it's his job, Keith defending his latest Lindor glove take, and Producer Joe randomly bringing up something that will derail the show. It's a rollercoaster season, but the ride's not over yet. Let's put it in the books.

The Mets are finding new ways to lose every night. The Yankees can't seem to win a game when it gets to extra innings. Frankie Montas pitched really well, the Mets got off to a lead, and still lost. Sean Manaea has loose bodies in his elbow which does not sound good.

Welcome to Episode 90 of Tablesetters, where the game's biggest stories collide with scorching heat, late-June pressure, and postseason implications already beginning to brew. We begin in Omaha, where the LSU Tigers didn't just win their eighth College World Series — they secured their place as the defining force in modern college baseball. From the dynasty built by Skip Bertman to the edge honed by Jay Johnson, LSU's legacy now spans three decades, multiple eras, and a standard no one else in the sport has matched. Then we shift west, where the Padres and Dodgers turned a simmering rivalry into a full-blown powder keg. Benches cleared, stars got plunked, and managers were tossed in a four-game series that saw eight hit batters and more bad blood than baseball. This wasn't just a tense series — it was personal. And the aftermath could define the rest of the NL West race. In New York, the Mets and Braves meet again — both clubs in search of clarity and consistency as they open a four-game set under the oppressive Queens heat. Atlanta may have swept New York last week, but both teams are still trying to find themselves in a season that keeps asking questions they can't quite answer. From Chris Sale's injury to Frankie Montas' high-stakes return, we break down what's at stake in a pivotal series. We also head to Cincinnati, where the Reds are turning the page — and turning to fire. Chase Burns, one of the most hyped pitching prospects in recent memory, will make his major league debut against the Yankees. With the rotation in tatters and the Reds hovering around .500, this isn't just a call-up — it's a bet on the future. We unpack Burns' meteoric rise, what makes his arsenal electric, and why his debut feels like a potential franchise reset. Elsewhere around the league, big names are coming and going. Max Scherzer returns to the Blue Jays. Shota Imanaga and Nathan Eovaldi are nearing activation. Adley Rutschman hits the IL. And the Padres and Mariners move on from veterans Jason Heyward and Rowdy Tellez. We close with a look at the surging and the slumping — a segment spotlighting players heating up or going ice cold. And in the AL MVP race, Cal Raleigh's historic first half behind the plate has Mariners fans fired up — but Aaron Judge is quietly putting together one of the best seasons of his career. Who has the edge as July approaches? Follow us on Instagram and X @TablesettersPod for extra content, polls, and weekly MLB breakdowns. Like, subscribe, and share to support the show.

The Put it in the Books Show is back for Season 8, Episode 4, and while the Mets have cooled off slightly, they're still sitting at 23-14 and holding onto first place in the NL East like Farace clings to preseason predictions that might finally be aging well.Rodriguez, Keith, and Farace are on the mic tonight—Producer Joe is out again, possibly on assignment or just lost behind the wall, surviving solely on Shake Shack fumes and misguided optimism. The crew breaks down a week where the Mets snapped a two-series losing streak with a solid series win in Arizona and now return to Citi Field—where the energy is electric, the food is elite, and it has quickly become one of the best home field advantages in the league this season.Jose Reyes has entered the chat, publicly calling for Luisangel Acuña to play every day. Is he right? Is this just another former Met pushing buttons? Would he like to manage next? We'll discuss.Meanwhile, the offense is getting more consistent, while the bullpen is starting to feel the early-season workload. Translation: the starters need to start earning their postgame spreads by going deeper into games.Ronny Mauricio is heading to Double-A to continue his rehab, and Frankie Montas is pacing for an early June return, which would be helpful unless someone else decides to break something in the meantime. Also: Are some of these recent losses actually helpful? Do they build resilience or just give Mets fans an excuse to start doomscrolling again? We'll also preview a big series at home against the first-place Cubs, followed by the Pirates, before things get real with a brutal stretch against the Yankees, Red Sox, and Dodgers. So yeah—enjoy this homestand while you can.Join us for another episode of dry humor, questionable takes, and a whole lot of excitement about a Mets team that, for once, actually looks like it belongs in first place. Real games have yet to be played and the Mets rotation depth is already being tested. With Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas now scheduled to miss time, what should the Mets do? Should they use the depth they have or is it time for an outside addition?
Send us a textAlex Bregman homered in his first Spring Training game for #redsox. He also went 3-3. #Mets Juan Soto went oppo toco deep in his first AB with his new team. #yankees Aaron Boone got a contract extension and Giancarlo Stanton has tennis elbow. In both elbows? Frankie Montas now of the Mets is injured. Justin Turner goes to #Cubs. Does that give them an edge? ABS made its debut in Spring Training and teams are testing it out. Yankees also rescinded the facial hair policy. It lasted 49 years. #reds had a longer time not allowing whiskers - from 1902-1999! Marge Schott put a stop to it of all people! We also dream that a salary cap attempt by owners backfires into a salary floor with NO salary cap! It could happen but probably won't. Deadball era pitchers like Christy Mathewson, Lefty Grove, Rube Waddell, Cy Young made it tough on hitters and were a bigger part of hitters failures than pithcers were given credit for. Hitters used heavy bats and their approach to hitting was limited once foul balls were counted as strikes - which they were not until 1901 in the NL and 1903 in the AL. We're so glad the deadball era is past but starting pitchers today are a dying breed.Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid! Check them out on Spotify or Apple Music! Spring Training is here, Mets baseball is back, and so is The Put it in the Books Show! Farace and Keith are holding it down this week while Producer Joe and Rodriguez conveniently take the night off—probably recovering from the stress of the offseason or just avoiding the work like a veteran skipping Spring Training drills. The Mets are kicking off 2025 with high expectations, and why wouldn't they? The team made the biggest splash of the offseason, signing Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million deal, proving once again that Steve Cohen has pockets deeper than a Citi Field rain delay. Meanwhile, Pete Alonso flirted with free agency, but in the end, the Polar Bear is back where he belongs, signing a two-year, $54 million deal—because what's a Mets playoff run without a few Alonso moonshots?Of course, no Mets season would be complete without an injury update, and Frankie Montas is the early winner of the “First Guy on the IL” award after a lat strain is set to sideline him for a significant chunk of time. Because why wait until April for rotation problems when you can start early? And then there's Steve Cohen, who isn't exactly thrilled that the Mets finished 18th in attendance last season, despite a playoff run that had Citi Field rocking. The guys will break down his comments and what it means for the fan base moving forward—because when an owner spends like Cohen, he expects the seats to be filled. With a new season, big names, and unfinished business from last year's playoffs, the excitement is back in Queens. Tune in as we break it all down, crack some jokes, and get ready for another wild ride with the Mets. Baseball is back, and the fun is just beginning! #Mets #PiitB

On deck: (6:30) The 'second half' of the NBA begins in earnest tonight as the schedule picks up after the All-Star Break. I'll look into my crystal ball to see how the next two months will play out. Will OKC go on a deep playoff run? Are you a believer in the Cavaliers getting to an NBA Finals? How much pressure is on LeBron and Luka to get the Lakers back to the championship round? There are plenty of questions to get answered as I prepare you for what to expect over the last two third of the season. (33:40) College basketball is starting to heat up. Alabama suffers another loss, after being defeated by Auburn last weekend. Is this just a speed bump as they get toward the month of March? Number one ranked Auburn avoids a scare against Arkansas to keep their top ranking in the nation. Kansas continues to be an enigma, losing to unranked BYU by 34, the third worst loss in school history. I'll see what the schedule has on tap this weekend as we're exactly one month away from the NCAA Tournament. (39:28) It should be a battle to witness as the 4 Nations Face-Off concludes with a title game tonight. Will Team USA & Team Canada have a carbon copy of fisticuffs similar to their first game on Saturday night? How will this play out? I'll also take a lay of the NHL landscape as to how the ‘second half' will unfold? Are the Jets and Capitals Cup worthy? Can Florida repeat? Will Edmonton get back to a final? I'll have it all for you as the season reconvenes on Saturday. (55:30) MLB Spring Training is in full swing. One player that has thoughts of a big payday is Blue Jays 1B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He & his camp were unable to come up with an extension prior to Monday's deadline. What's next? And what will he get on the market? I'll have some news on Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Frankie Montas, Rafael Devers/Alex Bregman and the system when it comes to payroll in the sport. (1:01:36) The NFL is at it again. They've announced that the Chargers will be the home team for the second game in Sao Paolo to start off the year. Was this necessary to announce just ten days after the Super Bowl? Couldn't they have waited?
