Join Alley and Nicole as they talk about the three brothers fable and wha that could mean for the series. Could history be repeating itself? If so, who might be the new three siblings? Is it the three Sorrengail siblings, the three Narvarre princes, or even Xaden and his two brothers? We unpack every possibility in this short and sweet episode using our new format!
It's a veritable checklist of fairy tale tropes! Michael brings in more Brothers Grimm, and they hit basically everything we've come to expect (and sometimes love)! Breaking and entering, inheritance conflicts, and we continue to expand on the devil's family tree!

Let's be real, death is not something that most of us are comfortable talking about. Who wants to think about the death of family or friends until we absolutely have to? As it turns out, beginning to talk about death before it is strictly necessary can do so much for when we are faced with the reality. To clarify, in this episode of Sunday Sanctuary we are not talking about sudden, unexpected death. This episode we are talking about the eventuality of natural death that faces everyone. Join Petra Bagust as she talks to paliative care nurses and clergy alike, to unpack the advantages of opening ourselves to conversations about the end of life. First up, Petra heads south to talk to Ann, a palliative care nurse (and mum of producer Sam), about her experiences of walking alongside many families as they face the death of a loved one. Later in the episode, Petra is joined by Anglican minister and chaplain to New Zealand's film industry, Kevin Denholm (otherwise affectionately known as Rev Kev ;). Kevin had a slightly different summer to most, leading eight funerals for residents of Aotea/Great Barrier Island. Haere Mai! First off we want to thank all the men and women who have served or are serving in the United States Military! They have all put their life on the line to protect our freedom and we are forever grateful for each and every one. Jim sat down with Jason and shared his story of life in the United States Army. He has lived in several other countries while serving and also fought in the Vietnam War. Jim along with some other veterans a few years back set out to get a Veterans Memorial built and established in Jackson County, Kentucky. Their efforts were a huge success! The Jackson County Veteran's Monument and Memorial is in memory of and to honor the men and women of Jackson County that have served this great nation to preserve the freedom we enjoy today. The pentagram shaped memorial's 5 sides represent all branches of our military. Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and Marines. The Jackson County Veterans Memorial is located at- 20 McCammon Ridge Road-McKee, Kentucky 40447 GPS:37.41898,-83.96929 Thank you to the JCDC and all the inmates who maintain the beautiful park! When you visit, please be kind and respectful. Toward the end of this episode Jim gives us a couple of wonderful stories as a bonus! The first is a more detailed Storie of The Pigg cemetery. Three Brothers are buried there side by side that died within six months of each other from an STD they picked up in New Orleans during the Civil War. The second story is of a lady that Jim's grandfather found who had passed away while traversing through, what is now part of the Daniel Boone National Forest. Her name was Matilda Hurst (Tildy Hump). She was of a drifter type nature and the story goes that, her husband had left her years before, taking their young daughter with him. After that Tildy spent her life, waking through Eastern Kentucky in search of her husband and child. We thank God for each and every story that we are able to preserve! We thank You for listening and your ongoing support! This is an amazing interview with Mitch Chuvalo, who talks about his life, how he embraced philosophy, his special relationship with his dad, George; growing up in the lime light of boxing, losing his three brothers and his mom to suicide. Mitch shared a lot openly and was very inspiring. I enjoyed doing this interview.
The Potter Discussion: Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and the Wizarding World Fandom
In this episode, we discuss why the Dursleys aren't that bad. Enjoy!Topics/Summary:· 1:46 They showed Harry right and wrong. Harry saw what a dysfunctional family looked like. He could appreciate the good relationships is later began to make. They also taught him the social norms of the muggle world that came in handy later. Muggle studies is a class at Hogwarts for a reason. Most importantly, he didn't develop a big head. He went to Hogwarts as a humble person and that helped him the most because he could blend in and stay in the background as well as he could.· 11:58 Harry and Petunia are family. This is commonly overlooked. We know this very well of course, but it's something that we don't think about. Petunia knew Lily very well and Harry values having someone like that close. Harry is the closest thing to Lily that Petunia has left and as cold as they might be to each other, they are still family. Petunia might feel guilty about leaving Lily because they didn't get along and she hated James, so Harry is a way to make up for it.· 17:04 They parted as equals. For a long time, the Dursleys have been the enemy and Harry has dreaded returning every summer. By the seventh book and they're saying goodbye, we realize that they had grown much closer. It is much harder to say goodbye to someone who you respect as an opponent than value as a friend. This is similar to the Tale of Three Brothers where the third brother took off his invisibility cloak at the end of his life and parted this life with Death as equals.· 23:39 They protected him just like Lily and James would have done. They didn't want to expose themselves and that was the motivation at the start, but as the story went on and they warmed up to each other, it also became about protecting Harry. Harry and the Dursleys grew closer than we or they realized.Having anything you want to hear or say? Click here for a voice submission or here for text. In the Harry Potter world rich with Magic, one of the most captivating aspects is the existence of the ‘Deathly Hallows' fabled magical artifacts that go back many centuries. These legendary artifacts, consisting of the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak, hold immense power and significance. And according to wizarding folklore, anyone who possesses all three Hallows attains the esteemed title of a 'Master of Death.' Today, we'll be diving deep in to the ‘Tale of the Three Brothers'- taking a closer look at the history of these artifacts as well as what it actually MEANS to be a ‘Master of Death'. But before we get started, no discussion surrounding the Deathly Hallows is complete without a summary of WHERE these artifacts came from. Learn more about your ad choices. In a much-blessed month of gospel meetings in an old Schoolhouse in Millbrook, Nova Scotia, Canada, in the 1960's, the Lord saved three brothers in one night. A few days later their mother and sister got saved. David Swan relates the fascinating story, which began when a preacher called Fred Holder sent a telegram to another preacher called Doug Howard, saying “I am free for the month of August. How about some gospel meetings?” Readings: John 3:16, 16:7-8, Luke 19:9-10. The post Three Brothers Saved in One Night (22 min) first appeared on Gospel Hall Audio.
Siblings! They can be the absolute best... or the absolute worst, especially when we're talking about families with divine powers. In this episode, we'll explore some of the most famous tales of sibling rivalry, like that of Romulus and Remus, as well as stories where the siblings manage to pull together! We'll also talk about how the importance of twins carry down from the divine to mortal life in Yoruba culture, and we explore some of the common sibling-themes found in fairy tales and folklore across the world. This episode's interview features Sarah Ryan, daughter of Athena and someone who has a special understanding with Baba Yaga. Sarah shares some of the important sibling and sibling-esque relationships in her own life, as well as her observations of how all the demigod siblings at our camps work together! This episode grapples with two omnipresent themes in Harry Potter: death and immortality. Although the series has sometimes been deemed too dark for children, death can happen to anyone at any time, making it not purely an adult theme but something kids should also learn to encounter. Katy and Emily are joined by Dr. John Anthony Dunne, Associate Professor of New Testament and Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Bethel Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and co-host of The Two Cities podcast, to explore the meaning of death and approaches to it in Harry Potter. John disagrees with the popular fan theory, approved by the author, that Dumbledore plays the role of Death from “The Tale of the Three Brothers.” Voldemort seems much more closely tied to Death and Dumbledore to the Resurrection Stone. We discuss the connection between Death Eaters and ancient religious conceptions of death, in which death is something that consumes. John argues that Harry Potter is an anti-transhumanist text. Transhumanism is the idea of an extreme extension of life, in which humans can advance and upgrade themselves with increased longevity and well-being. Potter pushes against that idea and rejects the desire for immortality, instead emphasizing the importance of living on by passing things onto the next generation, like the Invisibility Cloak. Creating Horcruxes through murder to extend life lacks the hopeful, humanist goal at the core of transhumanism, and someone who would go to such lengths for eternal life seems highly unlikely to have a child, despite the events of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. We also talk about death in The Christmas Pig and the capitalist connection between hoarding life and hoarding money.
The boys are starting to think about retirement. Some interesting takes on scenarios that may come up when we have more time on our hands. As usual, there are some debatable choices.
Strength to Strength welcomed three brothers on an off-Saturday to discuss what their lives look like being a disciple of Jesus. The unsung heros of Jesus' kingdom are the faithful disciples who serve their Lord without fanfare or applause.Whether you are a warrior in secret prayer, a widow who casts in the last two mites, or a worker advancing the bleeding edge of the kingdom, you can rest assured that deeds of service do not escape the eye of our benevolent King.An interactive question-and-answer period follows.“Where your talents and the needs of the world cross, there lies your vocation.”Aristotle

It's a shorter, swear-free version of the wonderful Genealogy episode with author Stephen Hanks -- who teaches genealogy classes in Portland, Oregon and has contributed to PBS genealogy documentaries. We chat histories, mysteries, memories and families, plus what ignited his passion for learning about his own history. Also: how to find your family through census records, county archives, and death certificates; which DNA tests he's taken; our most recent common ancestor; and whether or not he wears a detective cape.
