Finn Allen has had a superb Big Bash campaign with the Perth Scorchers. He's the competition's second highest run scorer with a total of 430, just three runs behind former Australian opener David Warner. His form has helped the Scorchers into tomorrow's Grand Final in Perth and seen him named in the Team of the Tournament. Allen told Piney it's nice to see the work he's been putting in in the lead up to the tournament pan out. He's also hit a record number of sixes in the tournament, a feat he wasn't aiming for, nor was he aware of until he was told. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

He's next in line to take the gloves for Australia, but Perth Scorchers and Western Australia wicketkeeper Josh Inglis knows he might have to continue to bide his time as he awaits an opportunity to don the Baggy Green for Australia. The Yorkshire born gloveman has been in rich form at domestic level, but the continued good form of Travis Head and Alex Carey means there isn't a middle order spot available just yet. Josh Inglis spoke to Matt Clinch on Summer Grandstand as he heads to Melbourne for a BBL clash with the Melbourne Renegades, before linking up with the Test squad for Boxing Day.
It's been a whirlwind of late for New Zealand and Perth Scorchers captain Sophie Devine. She led her country to a breakthrough T20 World Cup win only a few weeks ago, before heading to India for an ODI series, and now she's trying to lead the Perth Scorchers to a second WBBL title. So has the World Cup win sunk in yet for one of New Zealand's greats? Sophie Devine caught up with Ben Cameron on Summer Grandstand

In this episode of the show, Stu and Baldy discuss the Black Caps test squad to face Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, plus the contractual situation facing NZC now that Devon Conway and Finn Allen have stepped away from the security of a central contract. We also look back at the quality bowling on show in South Africa's series win against the West Indies, as well as the impact of Ben Stokes's injury on the upcoming England v Sri Lanka series. We begin with a conversation about the potential dilemma facing New Zealand Cricket with the continued rise of franchise tournaments and their clash with the NZ home summer. Devon Conway has moved to a casual contract, Finn Allen has opted to play for the Perth Scorchers – but is it actually a dilemma? We then move to the West Indies where South Africa secured a valuable series win to keep their World Test Championship chances alive. There's praise for Jayden Seales and Keshav Maharaj in particular, and we wonder whether the Proteas will regret not sending a full strength team to New Zealand in 2023. To round out the show, we look ahead to the upcoming England v Sri Lanka series, which will see Ollie Pope captain the home side following a hamstring injury that will keep him out of the rest of the summer. Who will replace Stokes in the starting XI? Will England's style change at all? And can Sri Lanka pose any problems or will this be another straight sets win?
