Zu dem Antisemitismus-Skandal und dem Gerichtsprozess wollte der spätere Dschungelkönig während seiner Zeit im australischen Busch zuerst gar nichts sagen - doch je weiter er kam, umso öfter streute er Details, die irreführend und auch falsch waren. Schließlich sei es ihm gelungen, „mit einer Lüge durchzukommen [und] die Geschichte zu drehen“. So kommentieren es die beiden Investigativ-Reporter Antonie Rietzschel und Josa Mania-Schlegel. Seit mehr als vier Jahren beschäftigen sich die beiden mit dem Fall. In dieser Folge des Podcasts „Thema in Sachsen“ von Sächsischer Zeitung und Leipziger Volkszeitung erklären sie, was in der RTL-Sendung zwei Wochen lang passiert ist, ordnen Ofarims Äußerungen ein - und erklären, was daraus folgen könnte. Der Wieder-Aufstieg des Sängers und Schauspielers Gil Ofarim zum Dschungelkönig wurde von Millionen Menschen verfolgt. Doch Ofarim ist nicht einfach ein Reality-Star. Er ist der Mann, der am 5. Oktober 2021 in einem Video auf seinem Instagramkanal schwere Antisemitismusvorwürfe gegen einen Mitarbeiter des Leipziger Hotels Westin erhob und zwei Jahre lang an dieser Version festhielt, eh sich vor dem Landgericht Leipzig alles als haltlose Anschuldigung erwies. Was bedeutet es, wenn ausgerechnet dieser Mann, der jemand anderen mit einer schwerwiegenden Behauptung öffentlich bloßgestellt hat, nun zum „König“ eines der erfolgreichsten TV-Formate Deutschlands gekrönt wird? Wieso hat RTL einer so umstrittenen Figur eine so große Bühne geboten? Warum wurde nicht wirklich eingeordnet und erklärt, dass sich Ofarim einen Antisemitismusvorwurf allem Anschein nach ausgedacht hat? Diesen und vielen weiteren Fragen geht der Podcast nach. Und schließlich wird auch eine Entschuldigung Ofarims im Dschungel – adressiert an „die Menschen in Leipzig und Sachsen“ – in den Blick genommen. War das glaubhaft? Und reicht das? In einer Straßenumfrage machen SZ und LVZ den Check.
