If you’re like me, it’s tough knowing who to listen to when it comes to media coverage on COVID-19, aka “The Coronavirus.” A quick GOOGLE search will simultaneously tell you that it’s no big deal, and also that it’s the end of the world. One look at some of the overreacting people I’ve seen at Target here in Minneapolis and you’d think it was the zombie apocalypse. I NEED UNBIASED INFORMATION GROUNDED IN FACTS and I’m curious: How serious is it, and what actions should we take? Thanks Science Mike for being a source of calm, intelligent, non-emotionally charged, information to help bring some clarity to the situation. Mike’s Website: https://mikemchargue.com/

We get totally nerdy after Susie attended a Neil DeGrasse Tyson talk and wanted to impart all my newfound wisdom and scientific musings with the Brainiacs. We discuss the magic of the Periodic Table, the beauty of being able to ask a good question, and put our existence in the universe into perspective. In honor of our nerdiness, we asked our friend Science Mike to join us to talk about his book Finding God in the Waves. He is a super smart fella and he is also a faithful man, so he talks about how he balances his faith with his intellectualism.

God is not a being that we can wrap our head around, but we sure can wrap our heart around Him. Prayer is like flossing... we know we need to do it, but we tend to only step into it in times of emergency. Our prayers tend to focus on our anxiety, fears, and lack of control. Brian Zahnd says of modern prayer that, "we try and manage God and get him to do what we want to do." We want to propose a new way of praying that is actually a very old way of praying. One that has been practiced for thousands of years. Prayer that doesn't try to control God, but transforms our head and heart. Special thanks to Science Mike McHargue, Brian Zahnd, and Russ Guill for their contributions to this message.

This week, in our first edition of 'The Interview Episodes', we sat down with Science Mike McHargue of 'The Liturgists' and 'Ask Science Mike'. We covered everything from bio-feedback and re-programming the brain to how Mike overcame huge challenges, like excessive bullying early in his life, to get to the place he is today. Mike helps people know God in an age of incredible scientific insight. He was an executive at an international marketing firm by the age of 25. He had created and sold 3 businesses before that. He turned down job offers from Steve Jobs a ridiculous amount of times. Mike's first book is coming out in 2016 and I will go on record to say that it will be a best seller.Own Your Life Podcast is edited and produced by Gregg Nordin. [Science] Mike McHargue describes himself as a Christian turned atheist turned follower of Jesus. That's right, Mike was a fully-fledged conservative evangelical Christian, but his faith crumbled away and he found himself in the rather awkward position of being a Church deacon who no longer believed in God! Then Mike rediscovered faith, but in a very different way. Now he teaches on science, faith, atheism, doubt and knowing God. It's a great story. Enjoy!
