What can we learn from David's fall? Soberly consider our own corruption-Our vulnerability to sin intensifies when we isolate ourselves.-The lure of sin blinds us to the inevitable consequences of sin.-Our sin sucks us into heartless, evil measures to cover it up.-Covering our sin hardens our hearts, resulting in an indifference and disregard for other people.Trust in Jesus to rescue us:Freedom from the penalty of sinFreedom from the power of sinFreedom from the presence of sin
The last chapters of Revelation give us a glimpse of a new heaven and a new earth. God will purify this earth to usher in His Kingdom, free from crime, fear, and pain. Soberly, how you live now proves if you belong there. If we love and obey God here, we will in eternity; if we love sin now, we will not magically desire His Kingdom later.

What happens to Unbelievers when they die? I wonder if the Bible tells us? The answer is yes. The Lord has given us everything we need to know about it. Unbelievers have been in Hades, or Sheol, awaiting a day that they'd be resurrected to their bodies. After the 1000 year reign of Christ this happens. But what are they resurrected for and to WHOM are they resurrected to? This week we have Alysse, founder of The Sober Curator. @thesobercurator You may have read some of our posts as far as how we became acquainted and if not, we do talk about it briefly. Alysse is truly one of us and she has 17 years sober. She has had her ups and downs, successes and failures and she does a great job of walking us through her story. We heard a lot of things that we have heard before, such as trying to control her drinking, meetings were not for her (in the beginning), feeling like she was unique and dealing with depression and feelings of uselessness. But today, she has a lot going on and that is the fun stuff. She has a full time job, the website, service work and a great outlook on life. You'll be happy that you listened to this one. Sunday Morning- Pastor Larson- Titus 2:11-15
Ephesians 2:12 — The greater one understands the depths of their sin, the more they understand the greatness of God's mercy. For the Christian there is a reciprocal relationship between looking to their life before Christ and the amount of praise they offer to God. If the believer never examines their state of being without Christ, thanksgiving to God for salvation will unlikely mark their life. In this sermon on Ephesians 2:12 titled “Without Christ,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones follows Paul in challenging what it means to be without Christ in order to see just how astounding salvation really is. The worst condition of a person is that they are without Christ. But what does this really mean? Dr. Lloyd-Jones walks through the biblical text in order to show what it means to be a stranger towards God's covenant people, to be an alien to the commonwealth of Israel. This alienation from God and His covenant people will undoubtedly lead to a life without hope. Soberly listen and contemplate a state without Christ and then rejoice that one can flee to him and find new hope.

When we physically lean toward one side or another, we move off center, we are out of balance, and we tip. When we spiritually lean to our own understanding, we lean away from our Savior. If we lean, we are not centered; we are not balanced; we are not focused on Christ. Sisters, remember, in our premortal life we stood with the Savior. We trusted Him. We voiced our support, enthusiasm, and joy for the plan of happiness set forth by our Heavenly Father. We leaned not. We fought with our testimonies and …This battle between good and evil has moved to earth. Once again we have the sacred responsibility to stand as a witness and put our trust in the Lord." [2017–A:6, Bonnie H. Cordon, Trust in the Lord and Lean Not]“A journalist once questioned Mother Teresa of Calcutta about her hopeless task of rescuing the destitute in that city. He said that, statistically speaking, she was accomplishing absolutely nothing. This remarkable little woman shot back that her work was about love, not statistics. Notwithstanding the staggering number beyond her reach, she said she could keep the commandment to love God and her neighbor by serving those within her reach with whatever resources she had. “What we do is nothing but a drop in the ocean,” she would say on another occasion. “But if we didn't do it, the ocean would be one drop less [than it is].” Soberly, the journalist concluded that Christianity is obviously not a statistical endeavor. He reasoned that if there would be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over the ninety and nine who need no repentance, then apparently God is not overly preoccupied with percentages.” [Jeffrey R. Pastor Jack shares a few different examples of pride in the Bible. One thought too highly of himself and he lost his position, the other eventually humbled himself and got deliverance.
Pastor Jack gives us a definition of thinking soberly and teaches us how to be soberly minded.
Titus 2 (KJV 1900)2 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. 3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. 9 Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; 10 Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. 15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
Ezekiel and his Band of brothers recap the seeing sing soberly bible study.
The world is about to experience another royal wedding. Among all the other preparation for the pageantry and the event, Meghan Markle is receiving an intense education on how to be a royal. She will learn all the protocols and expectations of being a princes. The rule are strict and complex. Being a royal is a life that consumes their life and things that they could once do, they are no longer allowed to do. In our text, Paul is trying to address some issues he observed with the family of God. What it means to be a child of the King of Kings comes with certain requirements and expectations. Paul letters to the early church often had a broad audience, but this letter is a more personal message to Titus. Paul gives advice to Titus about selecting leadership to the church in Crete. In the middle of his advice to Titus, Paul lays out one of the clearest visions of what it takes to be in the family of God. Paul notes that none of us were born into the family of God, we had to receive grace to be invited in. There is a lot of misguided thinking regarding grace. A common thinking is that grace has freed us from the law, and that we live now by grace. The world stops with that concept that grace covers all. They use that view of grace to continue to live in sin and look to grace to cover a life that is not in line with the type of life that God desires that we live. Grace is a changing experience and ushers us into the royal family as new creatures. But Paul does not stop there. He goes on to say that grace is more than an experience, but a moral change that occurs in a person’s life. Meghan Markle has to learn all about being a royal before she is allowed to be one, but God allows us to be part of His family and then learn what it takes to be part of it. God knows that we will not understand how to be part of His family, so He pours himself out for us while we were yet sinners. So we get to have the experience part of grace, and then discover the effect part of grace. Grace moves us to another level of living and becomes our instructor in the ways of the royal family. Grace’s education in our life begins with learning to say no. The grace of God that appears to all men educates us on those things to which we should say no. Grace contradicts some things. Grace blocks some things. There are certain actions, tendencies, desires, and attitudes that Grace will teach us to stay away from. Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness. Paul tells us that we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world. Soberly means that we should live in control of ourselves. Righteously can be gauged by a simple question: Is it right to do that? Godly means like God. These simple concepts are the education of a child of God.
