JR kicked off the third hour by giving his Top 6 List of athlete/coach meltdowns to the media. JR then revealed his number one freakout before giving updates on Mets/Dodgers.
Dan Navarro Live on Game Changers With Vicki Abelson They say you can never go home- they didn't have their old pal Dan Navarro on their show––took me right back to shared memories with Chloris Leachman in the living room, the Mets winning a 2015 playoff game at Dodger Stadium (unlike today), seeing Lori Lieberman at The Grammy Museum, Mike Finnegan at The Levitt Pavilion, NAMM hangs, my book launch, a 12 Step meeting, good food, a few of these here shows before and during the pandemic… It's always warm and comfy as if no time has passed. We touched on Dan's early days, his creative parents, his famous cousin, Dave, a horrific family tragedy, starting out on horns, finding his voice, literally, writing songs, being a singing waiter at The Great American Food & Beverage Company, with a host of others who found success, including Eric Lowen, who would become his partner, and begin their relationship co-writing the iconic, We Belong, and selling it to Pat Benetar, before it came to have a life of its own, putting out 12 albums, touring for decades, also writing for the Bangles and others, before Lowen's untimely death. Dan, through it all, also voiced TV shows, including The Family Guy and American Dad, still to this day, as well as over 100 commercials, sang in the films Happy Feet, two Ice Age pictures, Rio, The Lorax, to name just some. The secret to his success? Go for it. Persistence. The only answer is “Yes.” It's worked pretty well for him. Dan told innumerable stories to exemplify his point. A man of service, Dan has served as SAG-AFTRA's National Vice President of Recording Artists/Singers, and is still on the board, he is a Trustee of the AFM & SAG-AFTRA Intellectual Property Rights Distribution Fund, is a member of the Mechanical Licensing Collective's Unclaimed Royalties Oversight Committee, and is on the board of the Artists rights alliance, and recently spoke before the House Judiciary Committee on AI, where, in solution, he has been quoted requesting, the 3 Cs: Consent, Credit, Compensation. Dan treated us to a passionate We Belong, and a gorgeous Rose In the WIndow, his collaboration with the late Preston Sturges from his latest album, Horizon Line. This time with Dan was heartwarming and soul-filling and will stay with me for a long time to come. Being in Dan's good company is always inspiring, always fun, even if we are in the midst of our Mets/Dodgers rivalry. Go Mets! Hour 1 The Yankees beat the Guardians again and this is looking like a sweep situation. Gio said the cocky Yankee fans are coming back out. The Yankees had no problem even with Gerrit Cole not pitching great, and Jazz Chisholm not having any idea how to play third base or run the bases. Gio said this series feels like Mike Tyson vs Peter McNeeley. We also talked about Jeff McNeil being on the Mets roster and Brandon Nimmo not being 100%. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of Juan Soto being intentionally walked to load the bases for Aaron Judge. Judge did not hit a grand slam, just a sac fly. Verdugo called it a total team effort. Gerrit Cole assessed his performance as ‘alright'. Gio thinks they should start painting the World Series logos on the field at Yankee Stadium. Davante Adams popped into the Aaron Rodgers interview with Pat McAfee after being traded to the Jets. Rodgers was asked about his criticism of Mike Williams on the interception he threw. Mike Tomlin talked about the quarterback situation for this Sunday against the Jets. Jerry has the audio of Jerry Jones on sports radio in Dallas and they got into it. He made it seem like he could fire them. In the final segment of the hour, Bussin' With The Boys had Donald Trump on and the Washington Post wanted them to respond to a comment Trump made. Will Compton commented with a bodily noise (he farted). Hour 2 The Jets traded for Davante Adams yesterday and now Mike Williams is on the trading block. How much will Adams help the team? He and Rodgers definitely have chemistry together. Getting Adams shows Rodgers has a lot of control no matter what he says. He wants Saleh gone, he's gone. He wants Davante Adams, he's here. Hopefully Garret Wilson will embrace this. The Bills went out and got their own new WR in Amari Cooper. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Aaron Judge hitting a HR to center. The Yankees had a couple of base running errors which prompted John Sterling to say of the Yankees, they ‘run the bases like drunks'. Judge thought the ghosts of Monument Park pulled his HR out there. Jerry has audio of BT, who ‘hates' the Jets. He also called them, ‘ass backwards'. Jerry has audio from Woody Johnson saying ‘thinking is overrated'. Jerry Jones battled with sports radio in Dallas and we heard all the clips. The Cowboys are giving up 41 points a game. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about who's throwing out the first pitch for the remaining Mets/Dodgers games at Citi Field. We talked about Wade Boggs being a longtime Red Sox, goes to the Yankees and rides a police horse drinking a beer celebrating a World Series win. Hour 3 Phil Simms joins us in his weekly spot and we started with Aaron Rodgers throwing Mike Williams under the bus after their latest loss. Phil said Davante Adams will make a difference for sure. We talked about Russel Wilson and Justin Fields for this Sunday against the Jets. Andrew Thomas is out indefinitely for the Giants and Phil talked about how that will impact them. He said the Giants need to throw the ball down the field. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the sounds of John Sterling as the Yankees beat the Guardians. Clay Holmes pitched well after coming in for Gerrit Cole. Joe Benigno reacted to another Jets loss with a classic Joe B rant. Woody Johnson was asked about the trade for Davante Adams. Aaron Rodgers reacted to the team getting Adams. Rodgers also reacted to people thinking he threw Mike Williams under the bus. Jerry Jones battled with Dallas Sports Radio and Jerry has the audio. Roger Goodell was asked about Tom Brady having an ownership stake in the Raiders. In the final segment of the hour, the Giants are in a tough spot with the injury to Andrew Thomas. Maybe Evan Neal can come in and play left tackle. Hour 4 There's a guy who lives with a deer who moves the deer's mouth while the man sings and it has 65 million views. Gio finds himself watching this d ...

2024 National League Championship Series New York Mets @ Los Angeles Dodgers - Games One and Two Once again we have a battle between Los Angeles and New York in the playoffs, but instead of Dodgers and Yankees (which we may yet see in the World Series) it will be the Dodgers taking on the Mets. Carlos Mendoza's squad took down their division rival Phillies in just four games, behind strong starting pitching from Severino, Manaea, and Quintana, as well as clutch hitting from Mark Vientos, Pete Alonso, and superstar Francisco Lindor. These Mets don't mind being the underdog, but they will have yet another tall task ahead of them in the NLCS. The Dodgers also took down their division rival in the San Diego Padres, though Dave Roberts's team was pushed to the brink in five games. They rode unbelievable pitching to ultimately advance, holding the Padres scoreless for the final 24 innings in the series. If they somehow shut out the Mets in game one, they would tie the all-time postseason scoreless streak (which was inflicted upon the Dodgers by the Orioles in the 1966 World Series). Shohei Ohtani's first postseason has been successful so far, mainly because he has come through nearly every time with runners on base (he's been hitless with the bases empty.) Mookie Betts has finally returned to form in the playoffs, while the Hernández brothers*(not actually brothers) provided the punch in the clinching game. Game one will feature hometown kid Jack Flaherty, who looks to be much better than in his Dodger postseason debut. Opposing him will be Kodai Senga, making just his third start this season. It is unclear how long the Mets will let him pitch, but the Dodgers offense might have more of a say in that decision than anything. In game two, the Dodgers will go with a bullpen game, which worked to perfection against San Diego. The Mets will counter with their big lefty, Sean Manaea, who was brilliant against Philadelphia. Past matchups between these teams in the playoffs have been electric, with a classic seven gamer in 1988 and some fireworks in the 2015 NLDS. We should be in store for plenty of drama. Audio clips from MLB.tv LAD radio 570 AM - Stephen Nelson and Rick Monday NYM radio WCBS 880 AM - Howie Rose and Keith Raad As always, shout out to Baseball Reference and SABR for statistics, box scores, background information, and much, much more. Catch you next time, P.C.O.

In this episode of Three Inning Fan – The Podcast with Kelley Franco, we do a full League Championship Series preview. With the Mets versus the Dodgers, we look at whether the Mets' magic can continue. Can the postseason legacies of Alonso and Lindor help them advance, and can aces Manaea and Severino get them back on track after a Game 1 loss? We explore the Dodgers' starting pitching woes but the recent resurgence of their bullpen. The wild card could very well be whether the unpredictable Mets' bullpen can be at its best. With the Yankees and the Guardians, Judge needs to be Judge to move this team past the LCS, Stanton needs to stay hot and Soto needs to go from warm to hot. The Guardians bullpen is the "Clase” of the league, but will it be enough to stave off the Yankees? All this plus the secret to good chili, which should be on your stove for October baseball. *Music by Podington Bear
