Mary became the mother of Salome the Myrrhbearer; Zoia bore Elizabeth, mother of St John the Baptist; and Anna married Joachim in Nazareth. Joachim and Anna, to their great sorrow, were barren for fifty years. They lived prayerfully and kept only a third of their income for themselves, giving a third to the poor and a third to the Temple. Once when they had come to Jerusalem to offer sacrifice at the Temple, Joachim was publicly scorned by the High Priest Issachar for his childlessness. Joachim and Anna, greatly grieved, prayed fervently that God would grant them the miracle that he had wrought for Abraham and Sarah, and give them a child in their old age. Once, as each was praying separately in a secluded place, angels appeared to each of them and revealed to them that they would be given a blessed daughter, `by whom all nations will be blessed, and through whom will come the salvation of the world.' They both rushed home to tell one another the joyous news, and embraced when they met. (This is the moment depicted in their icon.) Anna conceived and gave birth to the Most Holy Theotokos. Both reposed in peace, not long after they had sent her to live in the Temple.

Roy Jenkins investigates some of the many surviving texts that didn't make it into the accepted canon of the New Testament, and asks what if anything they can tell us about Jesus and his followers. Édouard Louis creuse le même sillon autobiographique entamé depuis Eddy Bellegueule (Seuil 2014) et Histoire de la violence (Seuil 2016), il propose avec ce troisième roman un texte fort, court, radical: L'état est meurtrier. Soyons clair, Qui a tué mon père relate dans les grandes lignes, l'histoire de la violence étatique faîtes au corps de son père. Pour y arriver, l'auteur dresse le portrait d'un homme brisé par le système. Qui, au mieux tente d'y échapper et renonce de guerre lasse. Cet échec laisse des traces qui marqueront le déroulement de la vie de l'écrivain. Entre pudeur et colère froide ce récit est une catharsis sensible qui s'attache à démonter le socle d'un machisme malade. À force de se souvenir de ce qu'il n'a pas dit à son père, ce qu'il n'a jamais dit, Édouard Louis laisse la parole se déverser. Oui, il accuse les dominants de mépriser les classes populaires, d'ignorer les dégâts que causent leurs décisions politiques. Ce livre est un diamant brut aux arêtes coupantes, C'est quoi être masculin aujourd'hui si ce qui précède est raté ? Si ce livre est un acte de résistance, êtes-vous prêt-e camarades ? Pour y arriver, l'auteur dresse le portrait d'un homme brisé par le système. Qui, au mieux tente d'y échapper et renonce de guerre lasse. Cet échec laisse des traces qui marqueront le déroulement de la vie de l'écrivain. Entre pudeur et colère froide ce récit est une catharsis sensible qui s'attache à démonter le socle d'un machisme malade. À force de se souvenir de ce qu'il n'a pas dit à son père, ce qu'il n'a jamais dit, Édouard Louis laisse la parole se déverser. Oui, il accuse les dominants de mépriser les classes populaires, d'ignorer les dégâts que causent leurs décisions politiques. L’association “Les Couchetards” organise pour la 5ème année consécutive le festival du même nom, et cette fois “l’association de débrouillards” a prévu une affiche forte en émotions. Du rock avec Fayro ou Creeport, au metal avec Scandal Hornet, en passant par le punk de 22 Longs Riffs et des Tagada Jones, chacun pourra y trouver son compte. Pour parler de la programmation et de l’esprit du festival, nous avons reçu Gillian Lorieau et Benoît Aurélien, respectivement vice-président et membre des Couchetards. Ils reviennent avec nous sur l’histoire du festival, sur l’arrivée des Tagada Jones et sur leur travail d’organisateur.
