Matthew's genealogy of Jesus Christ does something startling and deliberate when it identifies Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary. In a record dominated by fathers and sons, the Holy Spirit stops the reader and shines a light on five mothers whose stories preach the mercy, sovereignty, and prophetic precision of God. Thamar reminds us that the promise of God survives the failure of men. Rachab shows that saving faith can reach into a doomed Gentile city and pull out a sinner marked for mercy. Ruth stands as the redeemed Gentile bride brought under the wings of the God of Israel through the kinsman redeemer. Bathsheba, identified not by name but as “her that had been the wife of Urias,” keeps David's sin in the record and proves that Bible truth does not whitewash its heroes. Then Mary appears, not as an object of worship, but as the chosen virgin vessel through whom “Jesus, who is called Christ” entered the world according to the scriptures.“And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.” Matthew 16:1 (KJB)Together, these five mothers declare that the line of Christ was never preserved by human purity, religious respectability, or spotless family history. It was preserved by the faithfulness of God. There is scandal in the line, Gentile blood in the line, widowhood in the line, failure in the line, sorrow in the line, and finally a virgin birth at the end of the line. That is not an accident; that is doctrine in genealogic form. God is showing us that the Saviour did not come from a sanitized human record, but into the very ruin He came to redeem. Every mother in that line points beyond herself to the promised Seed, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham, and the Son of God. The glory is not in the bloodline itself, but in the Christ who fulfilled it, entered it, and rose above it.
A decisão final é do governo federal. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Brenden Schaeffer discusses whether the Ramon Urias signing from over the weekend is a good fit for the Cardinals roster and what it could mean for Thomas Saggese and Jose Fermin.

(superfly.fm)

Immigration: Must a federal court of appeals must defer to the BIA's judgment that a given set of undisputed facts does not demonstrate mistreatment severe enough to constitute 'persecution'? - Argued: Mon, 01 Dec 2025 11:32:55 EDT
A case in which the Court will decide whether a federal court of appeals must defer to the Board of Immigration Appeals' judgment that a given set of undisputed facts does not demonstrate mistreatment severe enough to constitute “persecution” under 8 U.S.C. § 1101(a)(42).
Urias-Orellana v. Bondi, Att'y Gen. | 12/01/25 | Docket #: 24-777 24-777 URIAS-ORELLANA V. BONDI DECISION BELOW: 121 F.4th 327 CERT. GRANTED 6/30/2025 QUESTION PRESENTED: The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) provides that noncitizens on American soil are generally eligible for asylum if they qualify as a "refugee." 8 U.S.C. § 1158(b)(1) (A). A refugee is someone with "a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion." Id. § 1101(a)(42). Noncitizens are presumptively eligible for asylum if they have "suffered persecution in the past." 8 C.F.R. § 1208.13(b)(1). If ordered removed by an immigration judge (IJ), noncitizens may appeal the removal order-and with it, the denial of asylum-to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA). From there, "judicial review" is available in "an appropriate court of appeals." 8 U.S.C. § 1252(a)(5). The INA mandates judicial deference on "findings of fact" and three other kinds of administrative decisions. Id. § 1252(b)(4). The statute also explicitly provides for judicial review of the BIA's decisions on "questions of law," but does not establish a deferential standard of review for such decisions. Id. § 1252(a)(2)(D), (b)(9). The question presented is: Whether a federal court of appeals must defer to the BIA's judgment that a given set of undisputed facts does not demonstrate mistreatment severe enough to constitute "persecution" under 8 U.S.C. § 1101(a)(42). LOWER COURT CASE NUMBER: 24-1042

On March 14, 1998, 16-year-old Benjamin Urias was shot in the Pico-Union neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA. The shot was not fatal, but Urias was hospitalized for two days. Urius was member of the 18th Street Gang, and told investigators that the shooter walked with a limp and shouted “Burlington Locos,” the name of another Los Angeles gang. Four days before the shooting, Oscar Eagle turned 18 years old. And two days before that, Eagle was shot in the leg. He was walking with a limp, and the since disgraced CRASH Unit targeted Eagle. A corrupted photo lineup and identification, coupled with egregiously ineffective counsel resulted in Eagle’s conviction for attempted first-degree murder. He was sentenced to 25 years to life. Brother Duane explores the concept of unbelief and its impact on our faith journey, particularly in the area of healing. He shares his personal experiences of witnessing God's miraculous power, including the resurrection of his grandson Urias. Unbelief can hinder our ability to receive from God. According to Mark 9:23, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." There are four types of unbelief: rejection of Jesus, lack of knowledge, wrong knowledge, and carnality. Duane emphasizes the importance of overcoming unbelief through prayer and fasting, clarifying that these spiritual disciplines are not intended to change God but to align ourselves with His will. According to Hosea 4:6, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."Strongholds can become refuges for unbelief in our minds. To tear down these strongholds, we should submit every thought to the obedience of Christ. Although our feelings are real, they may not always reflect the truth. By focusing on God's Word and bringing our bodies under subjection through prayer and fasting, we can overcome unbelief and experience the fullness of God's promises regardless of circumstances or feelings.
Bob and Dave try to decipher what the Mariners have planned for their lineup after sending Urias down and getting more players off the IL, they ask if it could also signal a possible trade for another bat, and they look at the most important things the Seahawks need to work on during OTAs with their new coaching staff.
We play a round of 'Whose Shoes' (Brock Edition!) to pick between: Carroll or Belichick-Schneider’s ‘23 or ‘24 draft room, Clase or Raley and Rojas or Urias before being joined by ESPN's Booger McFarland to talk NFL Draft.
