What happens when your dream crashes in front of you—literally—and the world writes your headline for you?Thirty years ago, Maureen “Mo” Manley was one of the world's top female cyclists, known for her grit, fire, and relentless climb through the toughest races in the world, including the Tour de France Femmes. But during one of those brutal ascents, her vision suddenly blurred, forcing her out of the race and into a terrifying new reality: a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Within a year, the elite cyclist who once devoured hills with fury needed a cane just to walk. But that wasn't the end of her story. In this episode, Mo takes us through that pivotal moment and what came next—how she refused to let a diagnosis define her, and instead became her own greatest research project. From steroids to turning orange from eating too many carrots, biofeedback to nutrition, Mo threw everything at MS with the same passion she brought to the bike. She even designed her own graduate degree in Integrated Wellness, blending science with soul to reclaim her health—and help others do the same.Mo opens up about the highs, the heartbreaks, and even the hilarious missteps on her way back to the saddle. Along the way, she became a fierce advocate, a single mom, a speaker with heart, and a beacon of hope for anyone facing what feels like an impossible climb. If you've ever felt limited by a diagnosis, defined by a moment, or unsure how to move forward—this episode is your reminder that the end is often just the beginning. Learn more about Maureen and her work at: www.maureenmanley.comWe are two sports chiropractors, seeking knowledge from some of the best resources in the world of health. Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP G'day, everyone. We're well into March, and the Spring Classics are calling! We had an absolutely storming opening weekend, and Paris Nice has just wrapped up; which means we're in for a treat over the next few weeks as we get to enjoy four of the five monuments PLUS a whole heap of other amazing one day races.  One of the things I love about the races at this time of year is that most of them have both a men's and women's edition; so we get to enjoy twice as much racing over the cobbles and bergs of Belgium and Northern France! Now the boys over at Race Radio have cooked up a banging episode this month; they've bagged an interview with one of the most exciting riders in the women's pelo. A Danish superstar who's already got herself a stage win at the Tour de France, and is no doubt knocking on the door of a massive result this Spring after a move to Lidl Trek in the offie; it is, of course, Emma Norsgaard Bjerg.  Here's what the lads had to say about this month's ep: At LITP's Race Radio, we (Harry and Stu) love riders with big personalities, and in our opinion there's none bigger – and more fun – than Emma Norsgaard Bjerg.  We were delighted to have the Lidl-Trek pro from Denmark on the show this week. We talk about her epic Tour de France Femmes stage win in 2023, her love/hate relationship with the cobbled classics, ‘Playstation mode' training, peloton gossip, and more. Emma is a rare example of a pro cyclist unafraid to show their emotions and weaknesses, expose the difficulties of the sport as well as celebrate its good sides, and we hope that you all enjoy listening to her chat with us! Cheers, Harry and Stu. Guys, this is a great listen. Harry and Stu do a great job of getting Emma to really loosen up and be really open in her interview - I was honestly so impressed. They have a heap of fun, and I know who I'm going to be rooting for at the races this Spring. I hope you enjoy this month's Race Radio, and the Spring Classics to come! In this spotlight episode, Ross and Gareth put some of the interesting discussions from our Discourse community in the spotlight. Gareth, master (and moderator) of Discourse, learned all about high cadence training from the coaches in the Discourse community when he tackled a Zwift cycling programme that had him spinning his legs. We discuss whether high cadence training has merit, or whether we should actually be looking at the other extreme - Torque training, with very low cadence, to develop cycling ability? A fascinating recent paper is the basis for that discussion. We also talk about a paper that documents the remarkable energy costs of cycling in the Tour de France Femmes - an incredible 7500 kCal per day, not met by energy intake in the case study. Finally, we tackle two doping stories. The first is a call by the UCI for WADA to "take a position" on alleged Carbon Monoxide misuse by elite cyclists, and the second is the latest step taken by the Enhanced Games, who, among other things, wish to classify aging as a disease. And they'll pay a cool million to a human who runs a sub-9.58s 100m, powered by any means necessary.Show notesJoin DiscourseIf you fancy a bit of the coaching, sports science and sports news conversations with our amazing members, consider a small donation to become a Patron of the site, and get access to our Discourse community, where you can join like-minded fans and sports enthusiasts to keep the conversation going. The research study that finds that low cadence training enhances performance more than self-selected (high) cadence training during an 8-week polarized training blockThe case study of energy demands in an elite woman in the Tour de FranceThe UCI calls on WADA to take a position on Carbon Monoxide useThe Enhanced Games message to Robert F Kennedy to declare war on aging Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. It's a bumper transfer special on The Cycling Podcast Féminin this month. In what is proving to be one of the busiest and most significant transfer markets in recent memory, Rose Manley, Denny Gray and Orla Chennaoui discuss all the major moves. With so many of the peloton's biggest champions making the switch, we pick out which transfers excite us and surprise us the most. We'll be discussing the comebacks of former world champions Anna van der Breggen and Pauline Ferrand Prevot in detail as well as looking at the consequences of moves by the likes of Elisa Longo Borghini, Niamh Fisher-Black, Juliette Labous, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and of course Demi Vollering. Our mini feature takes us back to the Tour de France Femmes where Rose and Denny explored why the Dutch always dominated the women's road racing scene. We speak to Team SD Worx's Lorena Wiebes and Mischa Bredewold and former pro Iris Slappendel, and get an outside perspective from British riders Lizzie Deignan and Becky Storrie. Also on the agenda, we ask what would your grandma rather eat: a mint chocolate selection box or a chocolate orange? On this month's episode of Féminin, Orla Chennaoui joins Rose Manley and Denny Gray to look ahead to the Tour de France Femmes 2025. With the route announced by race organisers ASO last week, we offer up our thoughts and predictions on what should be a gripping nine days of racing. We can also finally discuss one of the biggest transfers in women's cycling. After months of speculation (and some acrimony), Demi Vollering has officially confirmed that she will be moving to FDJ-Suez on a two year contract. But with French GC hopefuls Juliette Labous and Evita Muzic already there, we explore whether FDJ's co-leadership tactics are going to pay off. Plus following the recent UCI Gravel World Championships won by Marianne Vos, this month's mini feature is on the rapid rise of gravel racing. We hear from 2023 Gravel World Champion Kasia Niewiadoma and British gravel racer Danni Shrosbree about why more and more road racers are taking on the discipline.

We dig into some of the transfer speculation that has been rife among the women's peloton and we look ahead to the World Championships at the end of September, picking out our top contenders for the relentlessly punchy parcours. Our mini feature this month is on riders who grew up far from the traditional cycling heartlands. Anna sat down with Payson last week after the Durango Derby to talk about what it's like being a female mechanic in a male dominated sport, why even she feels unwelcome at bike shops sometimes, and some of the on-the-fly fixes she's done over the years that she's most proud of.
