astor James Fields grew up in Connecticut in a good family, but after high school he made a decision that changed his life — stepping into the drug game during the height of the 1980s. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares how he built a massive drug operation, at one point making over $1,000 a minute and amassing millions, all while beginning to transition into the music business as a way out. Just as he was trying to leave that life behind, the feds caught up to him, leading to a 20-year federal prison sentence. Pastor Fields breaks down how he built his empire, what the drug game was really like in the 80s, what ultimately got him arrested, and how he survived years in federal prison. He also opens up about turning his life around, finding faith, and rebuilding with purpose after prison — offering a powerful story of success, consequences, and redemption. _____________________________________________ #TrueCrime #DrugEmpire #DrugTrafficking #PrisonStory #FederalPrison #CrimeStories #ExInmate #80sCrime _____________________________________________ Connect with Pastor James Fields: http://www.kingdomlivingchurch.online _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Shop Locked In Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Street Life to Success Story 01:50 Childhood, Family & Early Struggles 03:55 Being the Black Sheep Growing Up 05:52 Lost Potential & First Turning Points 09:49 Getting Into Drug Dealing 12:21 Building a Drug Empire 16:01 Taking Over the Streets 18:28 Violence, Rivals & Street Politics 21:40 Expanding the Business & Lifestyle 25:35 Starting a Record Label 28:14 Betrayal, Downfall & Everything Falling Apart 33:36 Arrest, Charges & Legal Battles 39:07 Facing 20 Years in Prison 44:45 Entering the Prison System 48:30 Mindset Shift & Transformation in Prison 52:22 Life in Prison Camps Explained 56:55 Staying Clean & Avoiding Trouble 01:00:19 Family, Faith & Loss While Locked Up 01:06:04 Final Years & Preparing for Release 01:11:41 Life After Prison & Starting Over 01:15:00 Family, Forgiveness & Moving Forward 01:18:00 Finding Purpose After Prison 01:20:01 Lessons Learned From Prison & The Streets To advertise on the show, contact sales@advertisecast.com or visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/LockedInWithIanBicka Learn more about your ad choices. We talk about the subtle way Christians can “live with” spiritual pests: tolerated thoughts, excused habits, and private compromises that slowly weaken the foundation of faith and credibility. Peter's words in 1 Peter 1:13-14 push us past more information and toward real application, where belief finally shows up as behavior. We break down four early steps for staying clean in a corrupt culture without isolating from the world: prepare your mind for action by tightening what you let into your thought life, stay sober minded by gaining emotional self-control under pressure, fix your hope completely on the future grace of Jesus Christ, and start breaking old patterns tied to former desires. Along the way, we unpack what it means to be “obedient children” and why obedience is the one family likeness that should mark every believer, no matter how different we are.If you feel the cultural undertow pulling you toward “everybody's doing it,” this conversation offers a clear framework for resisting conformity and choosing integrity that looks like Jesus in everyday work and everyday decisions. Facing 13 Years in Prison Over Meth and Cocaine with Joe Taback | The Hopeaholics PodcastIn this intense episode of the Hopeaholics Podcast, Joe Taback shares his powerful story of addiction, crime, prison, and ultimate redemption. Growing up in Orange County as the oldest of six kids, Joe was surrounded by chaos early on, including a brother serving life in prison, which shaped his outlook on life and choices. His addiction to cocaine and meth spiraled into a dangerous lifestyle involving stolen cars, guns, and running from the law, eventually leading to an arrest that could have put him behind bars for 13 years. Joe opens up about the moment he found himself praying in the back of a cop car for one last chance and how that turning point became the beginning of real change. After fighting his sentence down to three years and staying committed to recovery in prison, he rebuilt his life through faith, accountability, and service to others. Today, Joe works in the recovery space and helps people heal through programs like Rock to Recovery, using his past to inspire hope and transformation. This conversation dives deep into the realities of addiction, the consequences of destructive choices, and the power of second chances. It's a raw and honest reminder that even in the darkest moments, redemption and purpose are still possible.#thehopeaholics  #redemption #recovery #AlcoholAddiction #AddictionRecovery #wedorecover #SobrietyJourney #MyStory #Hope #wedorecover #treatmentcenter #natalieevamarieJoin our patreon to get access to an EXTRA EPISODE every week of ‘Off the Record', exclusive content, a thriving recovery community, and opportunities to be featured on the podcast. https://patreon.com/TheHopeaholics Go to www.Wolfpak.com today and support our sponsors. Moses paints a terrible picture of the days of Noah. He says that every intent of the thoughts of people's hearts were only evil continualy. Every kind of sin was rampant and there was demonic activity taking place at a level beyond our comprehension. So, when we're introduced to Noah, the contrast is stark. In the midst of this dirty world, there is a man who has stayed clean. If we've ever felt like we're the only ones serving God in our family or workplace or school or neighborhood, we might have a taste of what Noah must have experienced. He and his family truly were the last people on earth who believed in God. So the question we're forced to ask is: how did he do it? How did he overcome the temptations and persecutions he must have endured? And overcome he certainly did. He wasn't just the best of a bad lot; he was one of the most righteous men of history (Eze 14:14,20). Many of us know what it is to live in a society that's hostile to everything that's godly. What can we learn from Noah that wil help us stay clean in a dirty world? I'm so grateful you're here.I started M2 The Rock in 2017 to bring you conversations designed to make you happier, healthier, and more healed. Through raw and unfiltered discussions with experts, celebrities, thought leaders, and athletes, we uncover new perspectives on personal growth, recovery, and overcoming life's toughest challenges. My Story:What sets my journey apart is that there wasn't just one rock bottom—there were many. From being a successful luxury homebuilder to falling into addiction, homelessness, crime, and eventually 27 mugshots and prison, my life was in absolute chaos.Addiction was my temporary escape from childhood trauma, but it only led to destruction. It wasn't until I hit the lowest point imaginable that I finally found true freedom, redemption, and purpose. After an unexpected early release from prison in 2017, I walked 300 miles back to Dallas to turn myself in—only to be miraculously pardoned and told to “pay it forward.”And that's exactly what I've been doing ever since. My MissionI believe that rock bottom is not the end—it's a stepping stone to something greater. My goal is to redefine what "rock bottom" means by helping others rebuild their Spirit, Mind, and Body. On M2 The Rock, I speak openly about trauma, addiction, recovery, and the power of transformation. I don't shy away from topics like:✅ Trauma & Addiction – Understanding the root causes✅ Self-Sabotage & Mental Health – Breaking negative cycles✅ Codependency & Enabling – How relationships impact recovery✅ 12-Step Programs & Spiritual Healing – Finding true freedom✅ Religious Trauma & Personal Growth – Healing from past wounds"Everyone Is An Addict."Whether it's substances, work, validation, or negative thinking, we all have something we struggle with. But recovery is possible, and transformation is real.

Welcome to Day 2359 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2355 – OUR LIVING HOPE – STAYING CLEAN IN A CORRUPT SOCIETY 1 PETER 1:13-21 – Daily Wisdom Putnam Church Message – 04/14/2024 Our Living Hope – Staying Clean in a Corrupt Society 1 Peter 1:13-21 Last week, we began an extended, systematic study of the letters of 1st and 2nd Peter. Our message was “Smiling Through Suffering.” We highlighted the grace that strengthens us to go on in spite of our circumstances, and Peter shines the light on the resurrected Christ| not on us or the world| as the one reliable source of living hope in hurtful times. Peter emphasizes hope to go on despite suffering. This hope grows stronger as we focus on the relief we'll enjoy in our heavenly home.| Still focusing on the believer's life in this fallen world, Peter now shifts his emphasis from physical trials to spiritual temptations. If the question last week was, “How can I remain joyful while suffering?” the question this week is, “How can I stay clean in a corrupt society?” The Bible does not encourage us to become hermits, monks, or Utopians. Believers have a mission to accomplish in the world; therefore, we can't afford to lock ourselves outside it. The Christian's solution to the problem of holy living in an unholy world is not isolation; it's insulation. This is why 1 Peter 1:13-21 challenges us to be different from our depraved society without fleeing to the caves, cloisters, or communes. Let's begin our study reading 1 Peter 1:13-21 on page 1887 in your Pew Bibles. 13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”[a] 17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. 18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. -1:13-16- I can imagine that Peter dictated the first twelve verses of his letter in a posture of praise as he paced the room in Rome where he was staying. Perhaps he stared out the window, directing his prayerful words partly to his secretary, Silas, and partly to his heavenly Father, as he praised Him for the living hope believers have through Christ.
