It's been a particularly interesting week. Starting with Baron Oil (BOIL) about which I said last weekend the only question was the price of the placing, that question was answered on Friday: 0.1p. There’s shades of I3 Energy (I3E) here, where there was a similar stunt by the ill-informed misinterpreting and distorting an RNS announcement back in December. Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) announced that its Bahamas mutual fund offer has flopped, raising only £700,000 at 2p. Another one with a big drill, but fully funded, 88 Energy (88E) announced an operations update. Tower Resources (TRP) announced a Cameroon operational update. The marine survey vessel completed its work at the well site last Friday One that’s clear about its need to place is Providence Resources (PVR), which advised that it currently has sufficient working capital to fund its costs through to the end of March/ early April 2020. Lansdowne Oil & Gas (LOGP), too) was the news that they have recommenced the Barryroe farm-out process and a number of companies are actively assessing the field data. I thought it would be hard for a company to be worse than Anglo African Oil & Gas (AAOG), but then along came Zenith Energy (ZEN). Petrel Resources (PET) issued news last week regarding the Tamraz shares and posted a link to a letter from the group. It’s not at all convincing. I mentioned Hurricane Energy (HUR) last weekend too, saying that I had cautioned about it towards the end of last year when it was in the 30s and it was now down to 17p.  https://www.share-talk.com/oil-man-jim-company-oil-gas-podcast-weekend-blog-16th-february-2020/

Starting on a positive note, 88 Energy (88E) announced an operations update. The ice road is more than 80% complete, the drill permit has been issued and spud is anticipated later this month. Another one with a potential major drill, Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) started the week announcing a Bahamian mutual fund update.  Tower Resources (TRP) announced a Cameroon operational update. The marine survey vessel completed its work at the well site last Friday and the company's initial view is that the data from the three boreholes are consistent and in line with pre-survey expectations. It all now comes down to whether or not they can negotiate a farm-out. If they do, it flies.  Rose Petroleum (ROSE) put out a couple of announcements. They're still talking about a farm-out of their Paradox acreage, but they've been doing that for years.  Petrel Resources (PET) issued an update regarding the Tamraz group shares. They didn't even try to explain it, but just posted a link to a letter from the group.  Zenith Energy (ZEN) issued an announcement headlined "Successful Issue of Bonds & Operational Update." Perhaps slightly misleading to use the word "successful." I mentioned Hurricane Energy (HUR) last weekend, saying that I had cautioned about it towards the end of last year when it was in the 30s and it was now down to 17p.

A first full week of the New Year and plenty going on.   Rockhopper Exploration (RKH) announced Heads of Terms with Navitas to farm-in to Sea Lion. Sea Lion JV partner Premier Oil (PMO) announced it's trading and operations update.  2019 production was 78,400 boepd.  It's also looking forward to drilling its first well in Alaska, which it describes as "potentially transformational" for Premier, whose own interest comes via a farm out from 88 Energy (88E), which incidentally is now up 100% from when I mentioned it as a favourite towards the end of last year.    Premier also announced proposed UK North Sea acquisitions, which will add around 23,000 boepd productions with development upside. The acquired assets are forecast to generate over $1 billion of free cash flow to the end of 2023, exactly the type of acquisition that RockRose Energy (RRE) is looking for.  Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) announced an update regarding their mutual fund set up to allow locals to invest. Petrel Resources (PET) shocked investors, announcing that payment for the second tranche of shares has not yet been received from the Tamraz group. The arrival of Alan Linn as CEO at another Dublin company, Providence Resources (PVR), has perked the share price up considerably.  He's looking forward to working with the board to bring new investment into the Barryroe project.  Tower Resources (TRP), another looking to drill soon, also is starting to firm up.  Lekoil (LEK) has been strong since it announced appraisal funding secured at the start of the year. Meanwhile, the Zenith Energy (ZEN) and Anglo African Oil & Gas (AAOG) saga draw to a close.  Voting on the deal is Monday morning and it looks like Zenith is going to get the old Congo field.  Contact me on Twitter @Oilman_Jim (https://twitter.com/Oilman_Jim) Click “SUBSCRIBE (https://oilmanjim.blogspot.com/) ” to receive posts by email

Gangstercast 47 comes courtesy of Maurice Tamraz, a DJ and Producer from California. Maurice is a former member and co-founder of the duo J Paul Getto. Maurice has worked one on one with an array of A-list artists, including Todd Terry, Felix Da Housecat, Virgin Killer, DJ Dan and collaboration projects with Nile Rodgers and Lee “Scratch” Perry. Being the face of many genres; House, Techno, Drum & Bass, Grime, UK Garage, Bass and Electronic, he has many different sides to him as an artist.  “House is my wife, DnB is my freaky mistress I call for a threesome.” Fixed in the ‘zone’ for this Gangstercast, when asked how he chose the tracks for this mix Maurice told us “At the time I did this mix, this is what I was feeling at that moment. If I was asked to do another one, it would be totally different.” When telling us how this specific mix represented him as an artist, he tells us; “This mix represents one side of me as an artist. If there was an all-round theme to my music, I would say that it is dark.” He goes onto tell us; “When I did this mix I was in the middle of discovering something new. You will hear it a few times in the mix. But I try to keep it under control. If I was at a club, it would have gone in a different route. LOL” Being asked to describe the House Gangster sound he says, “I think the sound varies from person to person. From all the different gangsters that have done mixes, there is the same idea, different way of projecting it.”   In defining what House Music meant to him, he states; “It always comes first, no matter what.  I haven’t been doing this as long as some people. But I know, that I give it the attention that it deserves, which is 100%.  No distractions, no side jobs, just 100% focus on music.”
